TRIGGER WARNING: YouTube Slaps Suicide-Risk Warning on Daily Signal Video

At 3:40 a.m. Monday morning, The Daily Signal received an email from YouTube alerting it that the trailer for a mini-documentary on a victim of gender ideology in California was flagged for mentioning “suicide or self-harm topics.”   ?YouTube slapped a “suicide” and “self-harm” warning on the trailer of our interview with a California widow whose then-14-year-old daughter was taken away by Child Protective Services after the mother forbid the teenager from binding her chest and wearing males’ clothes.… pic.twitter.com/4dgYnkxAKO— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) September 9, 2024 The video, “California Stole My Rights,” now displays a warning screen that would-be viewers must manually bypass to watch the full trailer. According to YouTube’s guidelines, the video might also be restricted.  The Daily Signal asked YouTube what it meant by “restricted,” and why YouTube placed this restriction on the trailer, but it did not respond by the time of publication of this article.  In the 44-second trailer, a California mother merely says the word “suicidal” when quoting what her then-14-year-old-daughter told her when pleading her case for transitioning from girl to boy.   The mother says:  “It came out of nowhere that, all of a sudden, [my daughter said] ‘I want to be a boy. I feel suicidal.’”  That’s it.  Despite the fact that the mother was directly quoting her daughter, and the idea of suicide was never expanded upon, YouTube flagged the video for sensitive content anyway.  In an email to The Daily Signal, YouTube said:  “We’re reaching out because members of the YouTube Community, including fellow creators, viewers, or staff, have expressed concern for your safety or well-being after coming across content you posted with topics related to suicide or self-harm.”  According to YouTube’s suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders policy, these are the kinds of content that may be “restricted rather than removed”: Content that is meant to be educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic  Content that is of public interest  Graphic content that is sufficiently blurred  Dramatizations or scripted content, which includes but is not limited to animations, video games, music videos, and clips from movies and shows  Detailed discussion of suicide or self-harm methods, locations and hotspots  Graphic descriptions of self-harm or suicide  However, in one YouTube video, “Turning To Self-Surgery: A Transgender Woman’s Journey — Through Their Eyes,” a male-to-female transgender person explains the details of self-castration due to gender dysphoria. While the original video itself warns viewers at the start of the video, YouTube does not place any warning on it, despite the video’s graphic narration and visuals depicting this act of self-harm.  Meanwhile, The Daily Signal’s trailer gets a warning for quoting the word “suicidal” once and nothing more.   Earlier this year, the trailer for the forthcoming film “Joker: Folie à Deux” was also slapped with the same restriction before the warning was eventually removed. Presumably, the warning came for a depiction of Lady Gaga’s character pointing a finger gun at her head and “pulling the trigger.”  Earlier this year, YouTube gave the same warning to the trailer of the forthcoming film “Joker: Folie à Deux,” presumably because Lady Gaga points a finger gun to her head in one scene. YouTube later removed the warning saying it was “incorrectly” applied.4/8 pic.twitter.com/hPj9YoIvrd— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) September 9, 2024 Where The Daily Signal trailer and “Joker: Folie à Deux’s” were censored, a video of the now-deceased actor-comedian Robin Williams titled “Robin Williams, In His Own Words About Suicide,” in which he exclusively detailed his battle with suicidal ideation, can be played with no such warning.  The post TRIGGER WARNING: YouTube Slaps Suicide-Risk Warning on Daily Signal Video  appeared first on The Daily Signal.

CNN Sounds the Alarm for Dem Bob Casey’s Struggling Senate Campaign

Democrat Bob Casey is the three-term senator from Pennsylvania, but according to a portrayal shown during Monday’s Inside Politics on CNN, one would think Casey was the underdog facing off against the entrenched politician with all the money in the world. The network’s chief congressional correspondent, Manu Raju sounded the alarm, warning that if Casey lost the tight race, Democrats would lose their narrow 50/50 majority with VP Kamala Harris as the tie breaker. “Pennsylvania holds the key to the White House, but that isn't the only crucial race playing out in the commonwealth this election cycle,” announced host Dana Bash at the top of the segment. “Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey is fighting to hold onto his Senate seat, and the narrowly divided chamber facing are formidable challenge from Republican Dave McCormick.” Raju’s nearly five-minute long report began with a lament that Casey was “about to get swamped by a GOP bombardment on the airwaves.” He followed up with a warning that framed Casey as the underdog because Republicans were about to unleash that massive ad buy that was going to greatly outspend Democratic efforts: McCormick and his allies are preparing to spend more than $100 million on air in just the final two months of the campaign, more than half from an outside group designed solely to help the Republican. All giving Republicans a roughly 40 million on air advantage over Democrats, an edge bigger than any other Senate race. He went on to bemoan how “a new CNN/SSRS poll finds the Casey/McCormick race at a 46, 46 tie,” and didn’t seem to like the fact that, “since 2016, the GOP has cut into Democrat’s voter registration advantage in the state.” “With the West Virginia seat almost certain to turn red, Democrats must hang on to Pennsylvania and seven other seats simply to keep the Senate at 50/50,” he cautioned viewers.     Perhaps to help fill in that spending gap, Raju unloaded a string of attacks on McCormick that seemed handed to him by the Casey campaign. First up, was a highly-edited interview between Raju and McCormick that aimed to make McCormick unpalatable as a MAGA extremist (Click “expand”): RAJU (to McCormick): Trump had said that he won Pennsylvania in 2020, that it was stolen from him. Do you agree with them? [Transition] MCCORMICK: I don't believe the election was stolen. So, Present Trump and I don't agree on everything, but we agree on a lot of things. [Transition] RAJU: Do you consider yourself a MAGA Republican? [Transition] MCCORMICK: You know, I consider myself a Dave McCormick Republican. My positions are very much in line with what President Trump has said on policies. [Transition] I'm a guy that's put America first his whole life. “After serving in the military, and then working in the Bush administration, McCormick ran a major hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates. Now fodder for Democratic attack ads like this,” Raju immediately followed up, playing a Casey attack ad that took McCormick’s hedge fund work out of context: “Dave McCormick, got rich. Really rich. By investing in China. China. China.” Raju then played another snippet of the interview seemingly to show McCormick on the defensive (Click “expand”): MCCORMICK: When you're the one of the biggest global investors in the world, three percent of its holdings were in China. RAJU (to McCormick): That's a lot of money, though. MCCORMICK: That's what we're talking about. There's no global firm in the world that doesn't have exposure to China. As if to suggest Casey’s criticism of his opponent were more substantial, Raju noted that “the Republican turning his attention to Casey's ties to Harris.” This was supported with clips of Raju lightly asking Casey about aligning himself with the Biden/Harris administration. Keeping the pressure heavily on McCormick, Raju pivoted to their abortion positions. “McCormick's positions in 2022 are inviting fresh scrutiny, including comments at a debate when he did not mention his support of abortion exceptions for rape or incest,” he suggested, playing an out-of-context clip of McCormick at a GOP primary debate. Despite playing poorly-aged audio of Casey saying he only supported the life-of-the-mother exception for abortion, Raju ended the video portion of the segment with a clip of Casey defending his new position against a soft-ball question he pitched: RAJU (to Casey): But do you still consider yourself pro-life? CASEY: I don’t those terms mean much anymore. I really think the choice now before the American people is, if you support a ban, which means you support the overturning of Roe and all that comes with it, or you support this right. And I do. “Such a good report! I learned so much about what's going on in that race,” Bash proclaimed as the segment wrapped up. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: CNN’s Inside Politics September 9, 2024 12:49:19 p.m. Eastern DANA BASH: Pennsylvania holds the key to the White House, but that isn't the only crucial race playing out in the commonwealth this election cycle. Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey is fighting to hold onto his Senate seat, and the narrowly divided chamber facing are formidable challenge from Republican Dave McCormick. CNN's Manu Raju, was there. [Cuts to video] SEN. BOB CASEY (D-PA): Hello, Pittsburgh! MANU RAJU (voice over): Senator Bob Casey is sounding the alarm. CASEY: I need your help in this race. RAJU: As a three-term Democrat campaigns with Vice President Kamala Harris, Casey is locked in a dead heat against Republican David McCormick and about to get swamped by a GOP bombardment on the airwaves. MCCORMICK CAMPAIGN AD 1: If the border was secure, chances are my son would be alive today. MCCORMICK CAMPAIGN AD 2: Harris and Casey, dangerous radicals. RAJU: McCormick and his allies are preparing to spend more than $100 million on air in just the final two months of the campaign, more than half from an outside group designed solely to help the Republican. All giving Republicans a roughly 40 million on air advantage over Democrats, an edge bigger than any other Senate race. CASEY: I think I'm the underdog! I don't have a personal super PAC funded by Wall Street billionaires. [Transition] I don’t care what they spend. I’m going to win this race. But it's going to be a really difficult race. RAJU: With the West Virginia seat almost certain to turn red, Democrats must hang on to Pennsylvania and seven other seats simply to keep the Senate at 50/50. VP KAMALA HARRIS: Bob Kasey will help us do that! RAJU: But a new CNN/SSRS poll finds the Casey/McCormick race at a 46, 46 tie. And since 2016, the GOP has cut into Democrat’s voter registration advantage in the state. DAVE MCCORMICK: So, I’m the underdog. There's no doubt about that. But the reason the race is closing is that Senator Casey is just out of touch with Pennsylvanians. He’s been a week, senator. RAJU: As he stumped in rural Pennsylvania last week, McCormick aligned himself with Donald Trump up to a point. [Raju’s highly-edited interview with McCormick] RAJU (to McCormick): Trump had said that he won Pennsylvania in 2020, that it was stolen from him. RAJU (voice over): After serving in the military, and then working in the Bush administration, McCormick ran a major hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates. Now fodder for Democratic attack ads like this. CASEY CAMPAIGN AD 1: Dave McCormick, got rich. Really rich. By investing in China. China. China. RAJU: McCormick defended his tenure. MCCORMICK: When you're the one of the biggest global investors in the world, three percent of its holdings were in China. RAJU (to McCormick): That's a lot of money, though. MCCORMICK: That's what we're talking about. There's no global firm in the world that doesn't have exposure to China. RAJU (voice over): As Casey attacks McCormick’s character, the Republican turning his attention to Casey's ties to Harris. MCCORMICK: He’s voted 98 percent of time for Biden/Harris. RAJU (to Casey): Why are you aligning herself with her? CASEY: Well look, in this state, her campaign already has brought a real lift to the turnout dynamics. [Transition] RAJU: Would you consider yourself a Biden/Harris Democrat? CASEY: Oh, I don't -- I don't put a label on it. [Transition] RAJU: What issues do you break from her on? CASEY: Oh, there I'm not going to try to itemize issues that we might have not have total agreement on. RAJU (voice over): In 2022, McCormick lost a Senate primary to a Trump-backed opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz. DONALD TRUMP: Dr. Oz is running against the liberal Wall Street Republican named David McCormick, who I've known. RAJU: But now, McCormick has been stumping with Trump and was about to go on stage at the July rally where Trump was nearly killed. RAJU (to McCormick): Do you ever think back to that day thing that could've been you? MCCORMICK: Yeah. I didn't think that at the time. Then I got home that night, had talked all six of my daughters they were freaked out. RAJU (voice over): But McCormick's positions in 2022 are inviting fresh scrutiny, including comments at a debate when he did not mention his support of abortion exceptions for rape or incest. MCCORMICK: I believe in the very rare instances, there should be exceptions for life of the mother. CASEY CAMPAIGN AD 2: McCormick praised the Supreme Court. RAJU: Now turned into a series of attack ads. RAJU (to McCormick): You only talked about life of the mother. Why did you always talk about that? MCCORMICK: Well, I said before the debate, after the debate, over and over again that I support all three exceptions. In the debate, I didn't say I was against the other exceptions. I simply said that I was for that exemption. [Transition] RAJU: You wouldn't codify Roe v. Wade if you had a chance to vote for it would you? MCCORMICK: You know, my position is very clear. I think the state should decide, voters should decide. RAJU (voice over): Casey had previously harbored anti-abortion views, including saying this in 2002. CASEY: My position has always been a pro-life position. [Transition] My position has always been the favoring the one exception for the life of the mother. RAJU: Now, Casey says the Dobbs decision overturning Roe has changed the dynamic. RAJU (to Casey): But do you still consider yourself pro-life? CASEY: I don’t those terms mean much anymore. I really think the choice now before the American people is, if you support a ban, which means you support the overturning of Roe and all that comes with it, or you support this right. And I do. [Cuts back to live] RAJU: And what Bob Casey is trying to do, which is very similar to what other Senate candidates across the country, Democratic candidates in particular, make this a race about character. Try to expose flaws of their Republican candidate. We're seeing that happen in Montana and Ohio and the like. Republicans running a very standard playbook, tying to the top of the ticket, immigration and crime and the like. The question is, who will succeed in that effort? BASH: Such a good report! I learned so much about what's going on in that race. And we are in for a very long night or days or week, on Election Day. Thanks, Manu. RAJU: Thanks, Dana. BASH: Good to see you.

BUYER BEWARE: Cancer screening is ‘diagnosing cancer that isn’t cancer’

Around the country, Americans have begun waking up to the possibility that the health care system is more interested in your wallet than it is in your cure. Which is why extra caution should be taken when it comes to earth-shattering diagnoses like cancer. “The ridiculous cancer screening programs that are designed to bring in customers to medical centers are diagnosing cancer that isn’t cancer,” Dr. Pam Popper, an internationally recognized expert on nutrition, medicine, and health and the founder and executive director of Wellness Forum Health tells Liz Wheeler of the “The Liz Wheeler Show.” “In other words, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is not cancer, it’s a risk factor for breast cancer,” she continues. “A lot of people are being treated for cancer because they have risk factors, which is great for the industry, not so great for the patient.” A major factor in preventing and/or curing cancer is diet, which conventional cancer doctors often don’t focus on. “When you think about it, an average adult puts a ton of food through their body every year,” Popper says. “How could you say that doesn’t have an effect?” “You’re blowing my mind here,” Wheeler responds, adding, “this idea that there are people who are told by their doctors after testing that they have cancer and you say, ‘Well no, actually, that’s a risk factor for cancer but not actually cancer.’” “How do these patients tell? I mean, we’re not trained as doctors, we don’t know what tests are run,” she adds. Popper believes that receiving a cancer diagnosis should be treated like any service, in that you should always investigate and get a second opinion. “Don’t do anything until you have a chance to calm down, think about it, and start investigating,” Popper explains. “The consumer has to take responsibility. I’m all about consumer empowerment and consumer responsibility.” “Everybody thinks, 'Well, the government has to change. Somebody has to go fix this for me.' You have to start by fixing it for yourself. Then you start by helping other people around you,” she continues, noting that her philosophy on health has served her well. “I’m 68 years old. I weigh what I weighed when I graduated from high school,” Popper says. “I don’t take any drugs. There’s nothing wrong with me.”Want more from Liz Wheeler? To enjoy more of Liz’s based commentary, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Republican candidate violently attacked while putting up campaign signs in Las Vegas in broad daylight: Report

A man running for state office in Nevada was reportedly violently attacked in broad daylight while putting up campaign signs about a week and a half ago.Around 4 p.m. on August 29, Stanley Vaughan braved the Las Vegas heat and walked about and put up campaign signs for himself and other candidates near the intersection of Pecos Road and Twain Avenue, about five miles east of the Las Vegas Strip.Vaughan believes that the suspect is homeless, reporting that he had a disheveled appearance and that he likely hadn't bathed in days.Vaughan then turned to affix a sign to a chain-link fence when suddenly a man wielding a knife approached him and demanded his wallet, he claimed."I‘m so focused on getting the cable ties through and getting them through the fence, I wasn’t paying attention to pedestrians and stuff coming through here," Vaughan recalled to KVVU. "I had my back turned. I turned around, [and he] caught me by surprise." Vaughan — an Army veteran, martial arts enthusiast, and the security and police liaison for his homeowners' association — said he responded "instinctively" by kicking the would-be mugger. At that point, the suspect "ran away," Vaughan said.Unfortunately, that was not the end of the matter. It turns out that the suspect managed to slice him in the forearm with the knife."I jumped into the car, and then I realized I was bleeding," Vaughan said.Vaughan then drove home, where his wife, a nurse, attended to his injury. His forearm was still wrapped in bandages when he spoke with KVVU.Vaughan believes that the suspect is homeless, reporting that he had a disheveled appearance and that he likely hadn't bathed in days. Vaughan told KVVU he will no longer be going out by himself to put campaign signs up.Police are treating the attack as an isolated incident. Detectives have also apparently identified a suspect, as KVVU reported that they "have not tied the perpetrator to any crimes in the area." So far, no names have been released.Vaughan, 67, is running as a Republican for the Nevada Assembly seat for District 20. His opponent, incumbent state Assemblyman David Orentlicher (D), condemned the attack."I am very concerned and saddened to hear about the attack on Mr. Vaughan, and I wish him a speedy recovery. We all should be able to feel safe in our communities, and I am committed to continuing our work to reduce crime across Nevada. I hope the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions," Orentlicher said in a statement to KVVU.Orentlicher — a Democrat, a UNLV law professor, a medical doctor, and a self-described expert "in medical ethics" — previously received the Distinguished Legislative Service Award from Planned Parenthood for "his 'strong and tenacious support' of the Planned Parenthood mission," his website says.Like Blaze News? Space Force AI chatbot now capable of operating missile defense systems and satellites for soldiers

An artificial intelligence-backed "Battle Buddy" would process data and military doctrine and streamline the relay of communications when soldiers use it.The product, EdgeRunner AI, is essentially a chatbot that will work with soldiers (or guardians for the Space Force) to provide information during missions or help the soldier more efficiently complete a task individually.Interestingly, the EdgeRunner AI is not connected to a network and operates natively like a computer program. This is an obvious security benefit when working within a foreign theater of war.'The AI Battle Buddy can significantly enhance the capabilities of space guardians by improving satellite control.'The technology's real power seems to come from its application with Space Force; the company boasts about the military branch's support on its website.CEO Tyler Saltsman told Blaze News that his technology can significantly enhance satellite control and data interpretation for the Space Force."In space combat, satellites play crucial roles in everything from surveillance to communication. The AI Battle Buddy can significantly enhance the capabilities of space guardians by improving satellite control and data interpretation," Saltsman said. The CEO added that the AI could help determine the risk related to missile defense and intelligence using predictive insights. Screenshot via video provided to Blaze News by Ky Truong / EdgeRunnerOn the ground, the AI can provide a plethora of data to soldiers or intelligence officers while operating offline. Saltsman explained that the technology enables voice-operated interfaces that interact with vehicles and/or weaponry to optimize the equipment for the user. This would essentially integrate, possibly dangerously, AI with the entire functioning apparatus of on-the-ground military operations.EdgeRunner shared a video with Blaze News that showed some of the program's capabilities in terms of information-gathering through satellites. These capabilities included:Gathering data from satellite orbitsWeighing satellite capabilities and determining their usage, i.e., transmission powerDetermining limitations based on time of day (solar charging limitations)Determining schedules for when to relay data to ground stations or targetsMissile targeting and risk assessment are used within militaries such as Israel's, which uses AI-targeting and similar programming to aggregate intelligence data, NPR reported.Saltsman said that another technology is being researched that would detect weaponry, improvised explosive devices, and "other threats.""These models are being enhanced to understand contextual information, such as recognizing and responding to specific motions. For example, a drone could be directed to follow a motion command. This represents the next level of intelligent vision systems we are working on."The broader vision, as the CEO put it, is to integrate AI into the firmware of military systems and hardware. This would ensure EdgeRunner's place in the future of the U.S. military and possibly its allies.Like Blaze News? Reanimated ARPG Wayfinder gets release date and Critical Role collab

Everyone loves a comeback story, seeing an underdog beat the odds and succeed despite adversity. Wayfinder is a game that’s doing just that, with a history of coming back when everyone expected it to fail. It’s beaten having its publisher shut down, a fight to retain the rights to the game, a retooling of the title which also involved it being delisted from Steam, and it’s still here. That’s more than many games have to suffer through, but it’s still chugging away with a newly announced launch date and a collaboration with DnD juggernaut Critical Role.
