Apple kicked off its Glowtime event on September 9th with the reveal of the Apple Watch Series 10, but that wasn't the only new wearable hardware. Apple is now offering the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in a new satin black colorway. Apple says the new finish for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 uses a new blasting process that makes it even more durable and resistant to scratches. Image source: Apple Beyond the watch itself, Apple also introduced the new titanium Milanese Loop band, as well as new colors for the Trail Loop, Ocean Band, and Hermès bands. Apple Watch Ultra 2 owners will also be able to use an exclusive new Hermès watch face. There was an expectation that Apple would announce a new Apple Watch SE model today, but that did not come to fruition. Apple Watch fans will have to settle for the Series 10 and the new finish for the Apple Watch Ultra 2, along with all of the upgrades in watchOS 11. Speaking of new features, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will gain a sleep apnea detection feature. As with the Apple Watch Series 10, the Ultra 2 will employ its accelerometer to check for "breathing disturbances" during sleep and alert the user if signs of sleep apnea are detected. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 in Satin Black will be available Friday, September 20, starting at $799. Preorders for the new finish will open today. A new model has been rumored for a few years. However, Apple has only tweaked the original AirPods Max model during the iPhone 16 event. These revamped headphones come with a USB-C port, unlocking new possibilities for Apple's premium headphones. Besides Personalized Audio, Apple has only updated it with new colors: Midnight Blue, Orange, and Rose Gold. Long-awaited AirPods Pro 2 features aren't coming to these headphones, such as improved Active noise Cancellation or Adaptive Audio. AirPods Max features a canopy made from breathable knit mesh, which distributes weight to reduce on-head pressure, a stainless steel frame wrapped with soft-to-the-touch material for a combination of strength, flexibility, and comfort, and telescoping arms that extend and stay where you set them. Its cups are made with anodized aluminum, and its custom-designed mesh textile wraps the ear cushions to provide pillow-like softness while listening. With a custom H1 chip, Apple offers one-touch pairing, automatically switching the audio source from an iPhone to an iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. It offers Hey Siri and Find My support, over-the-air updates, head detection, and audio sharing between two sets of AirPods with an iPhone or iPad. Apple says AirPods Max can take up to 20 hours of listening time with ANC or Transparency mode on. A quick 5-minute charge delivers 1.5 hours of listening time. These premium headphones still cost $549. You can pre-order them today, and they will be released on September 20. If you don't need the USB-C port, you can still keep your current AirPods Max, as the revamped model has most of the same features. Nine patollis—Mesoamerican game boards—were recently uncovered during excavation work for the Maya Train project in southeastern Mexico. The findings, believed to be more than 1,000 years old, were recorded along the free highway to Chetumal, near Xpujil in Campeche, as part of Section 7 of the construction. These ancient game boards, carved directly into stucco floors, are now undergoing preservation at a laboratory in Chetumal under the supervision of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).   Discovery and Significance of the Patolli Boards The discovery of these patollis was made as part of the archaeological rescue efforts led by the INAH during the construction of the Maya Train, which stretches 178 miles (287 kilometers) between Quintana Roo and Campeche. The game boards were found on the highway to Chetumal, in the structure called T7-44279, near the town of Xpujil, engraved on a stucco floor that measured 11.3 meters (37 feet) long and 2.8 meters (9 feet) wide.
