President-elect Donald Trump is considering Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) to lead the Department of Defense amid concern over the ability of current nominee, Pete Hegseth, to be confirmed, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal first reported that Trump was considering nominating DeSantis for Secretary of Defense as there appears to be a growing number of Republican senators who have expressed concern over whether Hegseth would clear confirmation hurdles. CBS News confirmed that multiple sources familiar with the Trump transition team said that DeSantis was now under consideration for the role.
