Celebrating Motorcycle Mary

North American motorcycle racing legends have rolled onto the great highway in the sky. Malcolm Smith left this world on November 26, at the age of 83. One day later, on November 27, Mary McGee left this world at age 87. McGee passed away just a day before ESPN hoped to launch the much-celebrated short documentary about her racing career, titled Motorcycle Mary into wider distribution. Directed by Haley Watson and executive produced by seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and two-time Oscar winner Ben Proudfoot, the just-under-23-minute-long film is a joyous, unflinching look at McGee’s racing career, told in McGee’s own words. Life of Mary McGee is an inspirational story for aspiring women in male-dominated fields, such as motorsport. Also, its a story for anyone who just wants to go out and do their thing. Why worry what’s ‘normal’ or ‘acceptable.’ to others as if that helps any industry or society. Hollywood legend Steve McQueen challenged Mary to go from the road racing she was comfortable with to getting into off-road and motocross and Mary accepted this as an opportunity to further prove herself–and said yes. When the chance to race in the Baja 500 came up, she said yes. When she finished, she became the first solo racer ever, of any gender, to complete the event. So go out and do it and say yes to life. CTA Treats Small Business Owners Like Mafia Kingpins

We warned about the Corporate Transparency Act in January. The Act passed in 2021 but is in effect now. It has many exemptions, except for small businesses. Under the premise that they want to catch criminals and terrorists who use corporations and LLCs to conduct illegal activities, the government has imposed more regulations and rules […] The post CTA Treats Small Business Owners Like Mafia Kingpins appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Hunter Judge Blasts President For Making False Statements In Pardon

The California federal judge overseeing Hunter Biden’s tax charges issued a scathing five-page ruling in response to President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son, saying that the president justified his pardon with reasons that are false and offensive. Judge Mark C. Scarsi wrote Tuesday of the White House press release explaining why the president thought a pardon was warranted: “The President’s statement illustrates the reasons for the Court’s disapproval, as representations contained therein stand in tension with the case record.” “The President asserts that Mr. Biden ‘was treated differently’ from others ‘who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions,’ implying that Mr. Biden was among those individuals who untimely paid taxes due to addiction. But he is not… Mr. Biden admitted that he engaged in tax evasion after this period of addiction.” “According to the President, ‘[n]o reasonable person who looks at the facts of [Mr. Biden’s] cases can reach any other conclusion than [Mr. Biden] was singled out only because he is [the President’s] son.’ But two federal judges expressly rejected Mr. Biden’s arguments that the Government prosecuted Mr. Biden because of his familial relation to the President,” he wrote. “And the President’s own Attorney General and Department of Justice personnel oversaw the investigation leading to the charges. In the President’s estimation, this legion of federal civil servants, the undersigned included, are unreasonable people.” He excoriated Hunter for filing a motion demanding that the indictment be dismissed because he was pardoned, when no government agency had even notified the court of it, and Hunter did not include a copy, instead attaching only the press release describing the president’s reasons for the pardon. “In short, a press release is not a pardon,” he wrote. CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE The judge also was surprised at the extent of the president’s pardon of his son, which covered all acts through December 1, the day it was signed—seemingly giving Hunter a free pass to commit crimes later in that day. The judge said the president cannot pardon people for future acts, but to avoid a constitutional issue, he would not interpret it that way. Special prosecutor David Weiss had a similar response to Hunter’s demands that the indictment be dismissed, with Weiss underscoring that a long record of evidence showed that Hunter was, in fact, properly indicted by a grand jury, and was not unfairly targeted. He argued for the pardon to be included in the case file in a way that showed that it was an act of mercy, not an erasure of fact, noting that the Biden administration did the same thin after Trump pardoned Steve Bannon. President Biden had repeatedly claimed he would not pardon his son, who was convicted of gun charges in Delaware and pleaded guilty to tax charges on the eve of trial in California.

James Van Der Beek Gets Emotional About Cancer Battle, Praises Wife

“Dawson’s Creek” alum James Van Der Beek got emotional talking about his cancer battle as he praised his wife for her amazing support after he recently revealed the stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis he received in August 2023. During his appearance on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, the 47-year-old actor said physically he’s great and feeling good, but emotionally, “it’s a lot. It’s really a ride.” “I was honestly in shock … I had a whole agenda for what I thought my year would be and what I thought my priorities would be … the reality that all of that was going to change and take a different trajectory — it felt like a nightmare honestly at first that I couldn’t quite wake up from,” Van Der Beek said, but admitted he’s since seen there’s a reason for this. “As soon as I got diagnosed, I knew this is going to add many happy years to my life,” he added. “I’m going to make changes that I never would have made otherwise, that I’m gonna look back on in thirty years and say, ‘Thank God this happened.’ So what can I do right now in order to make that the case. And that’s how I was about 90% of the time. I would say that about 10% of the time I was a sobbing, terrified mess.” James Van Der Beek Tears Up Sharing Health Update After Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis: ‘Emotionally, It’s a Lot’ https://t.co/wfCB0ue3sT — People (@people) December 3, 2024 The actor then credited his wife Kimberley for being his rock through the last year as he got choked up talking about her. “She’s been amazing,” Van Der Beek said. “She’s really taught me what unconditional love is.” “I’m someone who has always in the past tried to do everything for everybody and never asked for help myself and this has put me in a position of having to ask for help, but having to receive help,” he added. “And the beautiful blessing of that has been seeing how many people in my life have shown up.” CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE Earlier this month, the “Varsity Blues” actor spoke with People magazine after news surfaced of his cancer diagnosis. “I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” Van Der Beek told the outlet. “There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good,” he added. The actor previously made headlines when he gushed about the decision they made to move their family out of Los Angeles for Texas. James and Kimberley share six kids: Olivia, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, Joshua, and Jeremiah. “I know for me, it’s been really centering and I feel like for the kids, it’s been grounding, and a different kind of education that we never could have offered them in a classroom,” Van Der Beek said. “Just the things that we’re all aware of, like what phase the moon is in because we come out, we look at it,” he added. “I feel like we have a relationship with these natural cycles that are happening.”
