According to a U.S. Central Command press release, “U.S. Navy destroyers USS Stockdale (DDG 106) and USS O’Kane (DDG 77) successfully defeated a range of Houthi-launched weapons while transiting the Gulf of Aden, Nov. 30 — Dec. 1.” The release further stated, “The destroyers were escorting three U.S.-owned, operated, flagged merchant vessels, and the reckless attacks resulted in no injuries and no damage to any vessels, civilian or U.S. Naval.” During the confrontation, the destroyers intercepted and neutralized multiple threats, including three anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBMs), three one-way attack uncrewed aerial systems (OWA UAS), and one anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM), ensuring the security of both the merchant ships and their crews. The Houthis, who began targeting shipping lanes in the Red Sea last October in support of Hamas amidst Israel’s operations in Gaza, have been the focus of U.S. airstrikes in Yemen. Despite these measures, the Biden administration has been unable to completely stop the attacks carried out by the Iran-backed group. The latest incident followed a report by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, which criticized current international strategies against the Houthis. “After 12 months of sustained attacks on Western shipping, it seems obvious that the current response by the international community has failed to reach its stated goals. Despite their military superiority, the U.S. and its allies have not seriously degraded the capability of the Houthis to launch attacks, nor their ability to resupply their arsenals,” the report concluded. Here are more details from Fox News: Two U.S. Navy destroyers repelled an attack by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels on American ships over the weekend, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says. “U.S. Navy destroyers USS Stockdale and the USS O’Kane successfully defeated a range of Houthi-launched weapons while transiting the Gulf of Aden, Nov. 30-Dec. 1,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement. “The destroyers were escorting three U.S. owned, operated, flagged merchant vessels and the reckless attacks resulted in no injuries and no damage to any vessels, civilian or U.S. Naval.” “The destroyers successfully engaged and defeated three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three one-way attack uncrewed aerial systems, and one anti-ship cruise missile, ensuring the safety of the ships and their personnel, as well as civilian vessels and their crews,” the statement continued. “These actions reflect the ongoing commitment of CENTCOM forces to protect U.S. personnel, regional partners, and international shipping, against attacks by Iran-backed Houthis,” CENTCOM added. The attack came weeks after U.S. forces conducted retaliatory strikes against Houthi weapons storage facilities in Yemen. The facilities targeted in mid-November were all located in Houthi-controlled territories and housed a variety of advanced conventional weapons used by Houthis to target U.S. and other international military – as well as civilian – vessels moving through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. U.S. Air Force and Navy assets, including the F-35C, were used during the operation.

Last week, the Township of Edison, New Jersey, passed an ordinance that cuts down the time residents have to address the council and forbids them from using “props” in their remarks, including American flags, during public comments, MyCentralJersey.com reported. Residents immediately pushed back against the rule, arguing during a five-hour meeting on Nov. 25 that it was in violation of their First Amendment rights and a “disgusting” attempt to silence those looking to speak up for their community. “To consider the American flag and the Constitution a prop when someone raises it is an insult to what the flag is, what the flag stands for and what this country is,” resident Maryann Hennessey told council members. “For you to consider the use of the American flag a prop is disgusting.” Resident Joel Bassoff, a lawyer from Edison, held a small American flag in his hand as he addressed the council, warning that they could face legal action for restricting residents in this manner. “I’m holding up an American flag to represent the constitutional values,” Bassoff said. In video of the exchange, Council President Nishith Patel can be heard banging his gavel before giving Bassoff an official warning. And it should stop now,” he said. As he looked down to proceed, police officers appeared behind him. “His time is forfeited,” Patel told the officers. “Your time should be forfitted, your positions should be fortified,” Bassoff replied. “By your actions you forfeit every right to preside over this meeting.” Patel then instructed the officers to have Bassoff “removed.” A resident can be heard yelling “shame on you” from the audience. Bassoff agreed to step away from the podium, stating “I’m ready to sit here quietly, and I will not interfere with your decorum – so I have a right to be here.” The council members then voted for a five-minute recess as the officers escorted Basoff out of the room. The ordinance O.2239-2024, seeks to establish rules to maintain decorum at township council meetings that have recently devolved into chaos and have become a subject of mockery. In October, a man dressed as a Bong was removed after taking the podium in full costume. One resident described council meetings of late as “a three-ring circus.” I can tell you one thing for 100% certainty…. If your crappy Town Ordinance says the US Constitution is not allowed, then YOUR ORDINANCE is invalid on its face. Period. Stop this nonsense and let’s expel these traitors!

However, it was unclear if the two men, whom President-elect Donald Trump has chosen to run the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), were seriously considering a new policy or just throwing out suggestions on social media. “Looks like the people want to abolish the annoying time changes!” Musk wrote last week on X, linking to another user’s online poll that found most wanted to end daylight saving time. The practice of shifting clocks forward one hour in March and back one hour in November is intended to maximize the exposure to sunlight during working hours but has long been blamed for causing groggy mornings, missed appointments, and even some public health problems. In reply to Mus’, Ramaswamy wrote “it’s inefficient & easy to change.” In a follow-up post, Musk told Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, he did indeed want to end the time changes. When it gets dark at 5pm starting each November, that means there’s more night. And more crime. Since more crime occurs at night.
