France tells Israel to halt Golan Heights incursion

France on Wednesday called on Israel to respect the "sovereignty and territorial integrity" of neighboring Syria and to withdraw its forces from the Golan demilitarized zone between the two countries. "As stated by the U.N., any military deployment in the buffer zone between Israel and Syria is a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement which must be respected by its signatories, Israel and Syria," said a French foreign ministry spokesman at a press briefing. "France calls...

US inflation rose to 2.7% in November

US inflation ticked up to 2.7 per cent last month, matching Wall Street’s forecasts and clearing the way for an expected Federal Reserve rate cut next week. Wednesday’s data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics was in line with the expectations of economists polled by Bloomberg. But it was higher than the 2.6 per cent rate in October, which itself marked an increase on the previous month.

Trump is named Time’s Person of the Year and rings the New York Stock Exchange’s opening bell

President-elect Donald Trump rang the opening bell Thursday at the New York Stock Exchange after being recognized for the second time by Time magazine as its person of the year. The honors for the businessman-turned-politician are a measure of Trump’s remarkable comeback from an ostracized former president who refused to accept his election loss four years ago to a president-elect who won the White House decisively in November.

Ontario would be prepared to cut off electricity exports to the United States, Ontario premier Doug Ford said Wednesday following a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the provinces over Donald Trump’s tariff threat. Trump Picks Kari Lake for Voice of America Director

President-elect Donald Trump announced last night that Kari Lake will serve as the next director of Voice of America, the U.S. government-funded international broadcast network.  “I am honored that President Trump has asked me to lead the Voice of America,” Lake posted on X. “With an audience of 326 million people, Voice of America delivers information in 48 languages. Under my leadership, the VOA will excel in its mission: chronicling America’s achievements worldwide.” I am honored that President Trump has asked me to lead the Voice of America. @VOANews is a vital international media outlet dedicated to advancing the interests of the United States by engaging directly with people across the globe and promoting democracy and truth. With an… pic.twitter.com/UWVdPeF6Ye — Kari Lake (@KariLake) December 12, 2024 Trump entrusted Lake to “ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the likes spread by the Fake News Media.”  Voice of America, with funds granted by the U.S. Congress, was created by the government in 1942. Throughout the height of World War II and into the Cold War, Voice of America contributed to countering Nazi propaganda and the “fight against global terrorism.”  Many have suspected that Lake would be Trump’s selection as an ambassador to Mexico in light of Trump’s support for her border policies. Trump heralded her as “Border Kari Lake” in a rally in Tuscon, Arizona. Instead of Lake, the position was filled by former CIA official Ronald Johnson, which Trump announced on Tuesday.  Lake, who recently lost the Senate seat to U.S. Congressman Ruben Gallego, is also a former Republican nominee for Arizona governor and news anchor. She is known to be a devoted supporter and ally of Trump who had endorsed her in both her senate and governor races.  Lake is no stranger to claiming election fraud and has yet to concede both elections formally. She made headlines in 2022 when she lost the Arizona gubernatorial race against Katie Hobbs and has consistently challenged the integrity of the election in court. (READ MORE: Arizona’s Trump Wave Wasn’t Enough to Save Kari Lake)  Besides Kari Lake, Trump’s recent flurry of cabinet and leadership picks also includes Michael J. Rigas as deputy secretary of State for Management and Resources, Daniel J. Newlin as ambassador to Colombia, Peter Lamelas as ambassador to Argentina, and Leandro Rizzuto as ambassador to the Organization of American States. Code Orange Guitarist’s Debut Solo Single

Code Orange guitarist Reba Meyers has released her debut solo single, “Certain Uncertainty.” “I’m finding that I have the space only now in my life to have a bird’s eye view on my adolescence, and that perspective, and current time of growth made it the perfect moment to begin to release solo material. A moment I’ve been sure would eventually come, thought I never knew exactly how it would look,” shared Meyers, who is also the current touring guitarist for Marilyn Manson. ### The post Code Orange Guitarist’s Debut Solo Single appeared first on RockinTown.
