CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings couldn’t contain his reaction when a fellow panelist suggested that President Joe Biden had felt it necessary to pardon embattled son Hunter Biden because President-elect Donald Trump was “talking about firing squads.” Social media host Leigh McGowan first made the argument that President Biden did when he offered his son a sweeping pardon — which covered any and all federal crimes, those charged and those potentially not yet uncovered, over the course of 11 years — saying that his own Justice Department had somehow engaged in political prosecution targeting his son. When Jennings made it clear that he was not buying that, McGowan pivoted to claim that Biden may have reasonably thought that his son was at risk — even physically.
