Democrats Boast Prisoners Are Voting, but Feds Say They Don’t Know How Many

Federal government officials have promoted voter registration and voting for prison inmates that might be inconsistent—or outright violate—state laws on prisoner voting and restoration of felons’ voting rights, legal experts say.  As The Daily Signal has reported, an executive order signed in 2021 by President Joe Biden directs every federal agency to help boost voter registration and turnout, including the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  In a letter earlier this year, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee asserted: “Hundreds of individuals inside federal prisons have successfully registered and voted in recent elections.”  Asked Tuesday how many federal prisoners have voted and where, a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told The Daily Signal, “That information is not available to this office.” That same letter from Senate Democrats to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Bureau of Prisons Director Colette Peters called for the Biden-Harris administration to do more to ensure voting or future voting by those currently incarcerated.  Generally, states haven’t revoked voting rights as a result of misdemeanor convictions. Only Maine, Vermont, and the District of Columbia allow incarcerated felons to vote, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In 10 states, felons lose their voting rights indefinitely after being convicted for some crimes; 25 other states have varying procedures for restoring voting rights to convicted felons who have served their sentences.  “The Federal Bureau of Prisons will likely register nonqualified voters,” Ken Cuccinelli, national chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative, told The Daily Signal. “Any inmate outside of Maine, Vermont, or Washington, D.C., is not legally qualified to vote.” Cuccinelli, a former Virginia attorney general, has advocated criminal justice reforms and procedures to restore voting rights after a convict has served his or her sentence. But he said he lacks confidence in a federal agency’s ability to follow each state’s standard in a mass voter registration drive.  “States have very different laws and procedures for restoring voting rights for convicted felons, and I don’t seriously believe the Federal Bureau of Prisons will keep those differences straight,” Cuccinelli said.  The Federal Bureau of Prisons had informed inmates about voting before Biden’s Executive Order 14019,  agency spokesperson Randilee Giamusso said.  “The FBOP recognizes that voter registration education and the facilitation of registering eligible voters is a valuable exercise of American democracy and an important facet of successful reentry into the community,” Giamusso told The Daily Signal in a written statement.  Giamusso said the agency’s press office doesn’t have information on how many federal inmates were registered and voted in recent elections, as described in the Senate Democrats’ letter in March.  “Since at least August 2020, FBOP has made general information on voting rights available to all individuals in its custody at the time of admission and prior to release,” Giamusso said. “The information FBOP provides includes which districts allow incarcerated individuals to vote and any restrictions their state may have placed on their ability to vote.” The Justice Department claimed presidential privilege in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by the Foundation for Government Accountability to obtain information on Biden’s executive order.   “There is very little about this executive order that doesn’t appall me,” Cuccinelli said of Biden’s order. “They have hidden everything and are evading the Freedom of Information [Act].”  The Federal Bureau of Prisons could be in violation of state laws, contends former Justice Department lawyer Hans von Spakovsky, who now manages the Election Law Reform Initiative at The Heritage Foundation. “Federal officials who are registering people to vote in prisons have no idea if it’s legal in the state where that prisoner resides,” von Spakovsky, also a senior legal fellow at Heritage, told The Daily Signal. “What are the prisoners supposed to do when a government official says, ‘Here, you can vote?’ Federal Bureau of Prison officials could be helping to violate state laws.” Von Spakovsky authored a Heritage report published Friday about Biden’s executive order that included information about the Bureau of Prisons. It says, in part: The executive order specifically directed the attorney general of the United States to ‘facilitate voter registration and voting … for all eligible individuals in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons,’ despite the fact that such eligibility is determined by state law governing the circumstances under which felons can vote; federal officials in the Bureau of Prisons lack the knowledge, training, and authority to make such eligibility determinations.   “The U.S. Marshals Service was ordered to include such requirements in all ‘intergovernmental agreements and jail contracts,’” von Spakovsky writes in the report. “In other words, state and local jails and prisons that house prisoners at the request of the federal government would have to register prisoners to vote and assist them in casting absentee ballots,” the report continues.  It adds: In the three jurisdictions that allow incarcerated felons to vote—Maine, Vermont, and the District of Columbia—those individuals (along with others who are in jail awaiting trial or are serving a misdemeanor sentence) can register to vote and cast a ballot on their own through the mail. No assistance is required from federal or state and local prison officials. A lawsuit filed by nine Republican state attorneys general challenges the constitutionality of Biden’s electioneering executive order specifically referring to prisoner voting. The lawsuit argues that Garland, as U.S. attorney general, “is registering imprisoned felons to vote—but there was never notice nor comment on that policy to allow the public to weigh in on whether that is right.”  “And in many states, felons voting is illegal,” the lawsuit by state attorneys general says. “Because the U.S. attorney general failed to follow neutral processes, the likelihood of potential conflicts between federal action and state laws is heightened.” The post Democrats Boast Prisoners Are Voting, but Feds Say They Don’t Know How Many appeared first on The Daily Signal.

A Kennedy Endorses Trump. Goodbye, JFK Democrats.

DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s exit from the Democratic Party (or was he booted out?) is only the latest sign that there are no more JFK Democrats left in positions of power in the Democratic Party. President John F. Kennedy was a staunch anti-communist who fought against union and government corruption. He was a pro-life Catholic. He was laser-focused on faster growth (“we can do bettah”) and saw sweeping tax-rate reductions as a step toward achieving 4% to 5% annual growth. Democrats are now for higher taxes. They ignore and excuse union and government corruption, and they don’t even talk about growth. It is all income redistribution. They should listen to the words of wisdom of Kennedy circa 1960 to 1963. In 1962, he famously declared, “It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low, and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now.” Sadly, today you could count on one hand the number of Democrats in Washington who believe that. JFK called for a reduction in income taxes and capital gains taxes. Vice President Kamala Harris wants to raise these taxes—including doubling capital gains taxes. Which brings me to RFK Jr. I don’t agree with many of the positions that he takes. But he is right that the Democratic Party undemocratically excised him from the ballot in states. He is right about the incestuous relationship between big government and big business. At a dinner party, I recently asked him about tax policy. He replied: “I learned from my uncle [JFK] that cutting taxes increases prosperity.” Harris has never learned that lesson. She should take a history lesson. After the JFK tax cuts—from as high as 90% to 70% and a capital gains tax reduction of 30%—the economy boomed and tax revenues soared. Kamala and my Democratic friends should educate themselves by reading Larry Kudlow and Brian Domitrovic’s wonderful book “JFK and the Reagan Revolution.” That book also shows that tax revenues rose after the Reagan tax cuts—which were modeled after the JFK plan. What was remarkable about both these historical events is that the share of taxes paid by the rich rose after tax rates were cut. That was the “paradoxical truth” that JFK foresaw. JFK was also famous for talking about “a rising tide lifts all boats.” That’s far different from the “soak the rich” message of Democrats today. RFK Jr. was right that he has not left the Democratic Party. The party has left him. And it has sadly left behind the policy legacy of his famous uncle—who also would likely be a Republican today. Evangelicals ‘More Likely to Be Shaped by Culture Than to Influence It,’ Report Says

George Barna, director of research at Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center, released new data earlier this month that “reveals the limitations of Christian evangelicalism in American society.” The events from recent years have caused “millions of Americans to realize just how depraved American society has become,” the report stated. “Corrupt politicians, dishonest journalists and media outlets, broken social institutions, immoral religious leaders, unconstitutional government programs and policies, and more, have generated non-stop headlines highlighting the decadence of American society and the demise of the United States.” It went on to contend that “The depth of the depravity is shocking” and that it’s “indisputable” that the “decline is a direct result of the spiritual collapse of Christianity in the nation”—particularly the way in which the evangelical community has changed over time. According to Barna, not only are there fewer evangelicals than some reports have claimed there to be, but many of them “are far less biblical in their thinking … and tend to vote in far fewer numbers than expected.” The data, said guest host and former Rep. Jody Hice on Thursday’s “Washington Watch,” “also strongly suggests that evangelicals are more likely to be shaped by the culture around them than they are to influence or evangelize it.” These results are “devastating,” he sighed. And it begs several questions: What led to this? What does it say about the current church? And what is the way forward? Barna, who also serves as a senior fellow for Family Research Council, joined Hice to discuss the research. He explained how, unlike some data that finds up to 40% of people (or 100 million Americans) could be evangelical, his own research found that only “10% of adults actually meet the theological criteria for what makes somebody an evangelical,” which is “closer to maybe 25 million people.” And so, while that’s still a significant number, it’s clearly a big difference in terms of how many evangelicals there are in American society. But even for those who do meet the theological criteria, part of today’s issue is that many evangelicals “don’t really buy the Bible at face value. Many of their beliefs are not consistent,” argued Barna. He continued, “I’m not saying [they’re] a lost cause or they’re bad people, but there’s a lot of misinformation in the minds and hearts of people who, even when you define them theologically as evangelicals, they’re not buying into what the Bible teaches and they’re not living it out.” This comes in conflict with the heart of what evangelicalism is supposed to do, Barna contended. According to the study, Hice emphasized, “Many evangelicals perhaps get the big picture of Christianity, but they struggle in the sense of trying to apply those core principles of the Bible to everyday situations.” As a result, they fall victim to using secular strategies, such as using the “catchy slogans of feel-good behaviors as promoted by our culture in which we live.” Barna agreed, and he noted how these same people will “believe in the biblical notion of God,” as well as the fact “that God is the basis of all truth,” and “that the purpose of life is to know, love, and serve God with all their heart, mind, and soul.” “They believe,” he continued, that “the universe was created by God … [and] the reality of Jesus Christ, that He lived on earth … [and] that Satan exists.” The issue is not necessarily in what they believe, Barna explained, but that the fact is, “once you get away from those kind of Sunday School 101 teachings … things get pretty murky.” The nature and application of moral truth, the definition of what the gospel is, and the deeper theological questions that shape our passions and behaviors are “things that don’t get talked about quite as much in our churches. And those are the kinds of issues that relate to not only our lives, but also the political issues of the day.” Digging a little deeper, Barna specifically mentioned how “issues such as abortion, transgenderism, and so forth” are “where evangelicals really struggle to make the connection between biblical truth” and questions of identity, purpose, and Kingdom advancement. “There’s a degree where their theology comes from the Bible,” Hice analyzed, “but [then] taking that theology into the world is a different matter altogether.” Barna further discussed how evangelicals are often stereotyped as people who get in your face about their Christian beliefs. But as he then pointed out, “Our data is showing [that] things have changed over the last 40 years,” and “that’s not what theological evangelicals are like anymore, if they were that way previously.” For instance, the research shows that evangelicals are significantly unlikely to speak with people who hold different opinions than them. And when it comes to voting, “[W]e find that … more than a third of them are not likely to vote currently in this upcoming election.” These realities caused Barna to take a step back and compare evangelicals to another group of Christians called SAGE Cons (spiritually active, governance engaged conservatives). As opposed to evangelicals, data demonstrates that SAGE Cons are far more likely to consistently promote their faith—not just through evangelism, but in all aspects of life. “Well over 90% of SAGE Cons voted in each of the last two elections,” Barna stated, whereas evangelicals didn’t even come “close to that number.” Additionally, he emphasized that SAGE Cons were much more likely to be the ones “doing things like boycotting products or services that support a progressive ideology. Most evangelicals aren’t willing to do that.” These are only “some of the ways where, [when] we look at … the reality of evangelicalism in America today,” we can see that it’s “far different than the fear-mongering going on in the journalistic realm related to evangelicals, but also perhaps pretty far removed from what many of our pastors and church leaders think is happening with” this specific group. And frankly, Barna added, the data also revealed that “most evangelicals don’t even attend what’s usually thought of as being an evangelical church.” But perhaps most notable about these findings, Hice highlighted, is that if “professing evangelicals … don’t have a biblical worldview, and they are not being salt and light in their communities … [then] they’re not evangelizing.” He posed the question, “Did [the] study in any way determine what kind of impact that [lack of spiritual engagement] is having on our current culture and society?” Unfortunately, Barna responded, it’s allowed “the media [to] … become the evangelists of America, rather than disciples of Jesus,” who are called to go “out and [do] everything they can to share the love and the saving grace of Jesus with lost sinners.” But in reality, “what’s happening is … there’s now an evangelistic vacuum in American society,” where both evangelicals and the rest of society are “taking their cues from the media”—which also happens to be one of the primary forces seeking to silence Christianity. This, Hice stated, is an “indescribably frightening” thought. Ultimately, Barna contended, “[I]f the followers of Jesus aren’t willing to go out and talk about Him, who’s going to do it?” Evidently, he added, the “journalists aren’t going to be the ones who are professing the gospel to America.” All this points to the fact that “we’ve got some major issues … to address.” As for first steps, Barna urged, “The best place to start is within our families.” It’s parents, he underscored, who have the responsibility of “doing everything they can … to raise their children up to be spiritual champions, to hear the gospel, to know the gospel, to embrace the gospel, to live the gospel, to share the gospel. That’s our job as parents and grandparents. Churches can support us in doing that, but it’s got to start in the home.” Beyond the home, Barna expressed it’s necessary for Christians to use their voices in the public square—which, as previously acknowledged, is where the difference between SAGE Cons and evangelicals becomes most obvious. Barna went on to point out that one of the most significant distinctions is that SAGE Cons are committed to the belief that “they should take their faith into every dimension of our culture, and so they vote at much higher rates than other people. They talk about issues with other people. They study the issues much more deeply.” Barna also explained how SAGE Cons tend to “read the Bible consistently” and better apply it to “today’s issues, to current events, to what political leaders are saying and doing.” These factors are crucial to consider, Barna argued, because “today’s political leaders are major shapers of our culture. They have a dramatic level of influence on people’s minds and hearts and souls, whether we want that to be the case or not.” “Biblical truth is vitally important to SAGE Cons,” he asserted. “And when they vote … they’re concerned about” getting “biblical perspectives better represented in our public policies, in our laws, in our public institutions that we fund.” Again, Barna insisted, “There’s a growing distinction between” SAGE Cons and evangelicals. “And frankly, a lot of it is because theologically, evangelicals are not buying everything that the Bible has to sell. They’re not willing to represent the Kingdom of Christ with power and authority and confidence and consistency in the way that they used to.” Considering this, Hice asked, “What’s the greatest need for the Christian community in America today?” According to Barna, we need to “sit back and take a deep and intense and realistic look at your own faith.” In the Bible, he concluded, there are a few ways in which “Jesus identified what it takes to be a disciple of His.” By applying that to Christian communities, Barna insisted, believers concerned about being bold in their faith can understand how they must strive to center their lives on “obeying biblical principles … loving other disciples … producing spiritual fruit,” and “loving God far beyond anything else in” their lives. The ‘Great Replacement Theory’ is real — and it’s not about race

The media has branded the “Great Replacement Theory” as a racist, white supremacist conspiracy theory — but in reality, the theory has a lot less to do with race and a lot more to do with culture. “They are talking about bringing in new voters that they can count on ideologically. That is what the great replacement theory is that’s actually happening,” Glenn Beck says to the Center for Renewing America executive director, Wade Miller, who agrees. “The left wants people who ideologically agree with them. It’s not necessarily a racialist perspective,” Miller says. “And then there’s another camp in the left that absolutely is kind of inherently racist.” The latter camp, which is made up of radicals like Ibram X. Kendi, does “explicitly want to replace the white population.” While there are also radical factions on the right that don’t want other races coming to America, it doesn’t negate the fact that there is truly a great replacement underway. “Both of those camps are wrong. The left is racist and wrong and the kind of extreme elements on the right are wrong, but nevertheless, the left is doing that, and it’s okay and it’s right to call them out on it,” Miller says, adding, “In fact, I think it’s moral to call them out on it.” If Americans don’t call it out, the chances of America looking like Europe grow stronger every day. “The progressive, woke left in their countries are keying in on if you’re a citizen, and you like the traditions and culture of your country, and you don’t want people coming from a population where 89% of those people want Sharia law entering into your country because you don’t think that they’re going to assimilate, that’s somehow hatred and bigotry and Islamophobia,” Miller explains. “That leads down a path that is unavoidable,” Miller continues. “At that point, you will have increasing levels of violence because you have different cultures trying to coexist, and that just doesn’t happen.” Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenn’s masterful storytelling, thought-provoking analysis, and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Kamala Harris has agreed to sit-down interview with CNN, but it will be a joint interview with Tim Walz

CNN confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris had agreed to a sit-down interview after weeks of mounting criticism. Harris had been mocked and ridiculed for her campaign ignoring questions from the media, and at one point, her campaign refused to comment to a reporter asking about the refusal to comment. 'Nothing says strength and conviction like needing a babysitter.' CNN said Harris would sit for a joint interview along with her vice presidential candidate Tim Walz. The interview appears to be pre-taped with Dana Bash from a location in Georgia, a key swing state. Harris was immediately criticized by many on social media. "Just truly funny that Harris refused to talk to the press for more than a month because she’s such a liability, and when she finally gave in it was for a joint interview," replied Charles C.W. Cooke of the National Review. "If Kamala Harris was a confident candidate she'd do this interview by herself and wouldn't require it to be pretaped," responded radio host Dana Loesch. "Nothing says strength and conviction like needing a babysitter for your first public interview," read another response. "Kamala Harris needs a babysitter even when she gets the softest of softballs thrown by CNN and Dana Bash? She really is incapable of doing just a normal one-on-one interview?" said another detractor. Prior to the agreement, a Democratic strategist argued that the Harris campaign could ignore interviews because they trusted the mainstream media to explain Democratic policies and values to the American voter. The Harris-Walz interview will air Thursday on all CNN platforms at 9 p.m. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Behind the DNC’s Trojan horse campaign

Behind the DNC’s Trojan horse campaign

Last week, Democrat power players delivered a succession of self-congratulatory speeches at the Democratic National Convention, riddled with the-best-is-yet-to-come buzzwords like “change,” “joy,” and even “wonderfully magical.” After Democrats dethroned our incoherent sitting president, these self-described “defenders of democracy” have installed Kamala Harris at the top of the Democratic Party ticket — without a single voter casting a ballot to put her there. Biden may be out of touch and incompetent, but the dangerously liberal Harris-Walz ticket is the most extreme ever to get so close to the presidency. The convention quickly disposed of Biden on the first night. It was hard to find anyone who seemed to remember that Kamala Harris has been helping him create crisis after crisis for the past four years. “Hope is making a comeback,” Michelle Obama told the convention audience. Which raises the question: Where has hope been over the last four years of Harris’ administration? It’s not 2008. We don't need you to articulate the Democrat dreamscape; most of us are already living the nightmare after your party reigned for 12 of the past 16 years. In her acceptance speech, Harris spoke as if she has not already been in office for more than 1,000 days. She wants Americans to forget that she has the power to act, negotiate legislation, and “unite” us as she promised — right now. Why hasn’t she done that already? She’s asking voters for a huge promotion but failed to mention her job performance so far. Despite attempts from Democratic Party puppeteers to shelter Harris from the press and veil her radical policy platforms, it has become increasingly clear that Biden has not been in control for some time, meaning Harris has been in the driver’s seat of this disastrous administration. Worse still, the socialist record of her pick for vice president, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, shows her administration would move our country even farther to the left — not toward the center as her shrouded campaign would have voters believe. Biden may be out of touch and incompetent, but the dangerously liberal Harris-Walz ticket is the most extreme ever to get so close to the presidency. There are so many far-left and unpopular policies in their arsenal that it’s hard to decide where to start. First, since Joe Biden put her in charge of the border — a fact Democrats are trying to bury or deny — Harris has overseen the worst invasion in U.S. history. As governor, Walz handed out driver’s licenses, free health care, and taxpayer-funded college tuition to illegal immigrants. Harris promised to ban fracking — putting hundreds of thousands of people out of work and driving energy prices even higher, all to appease climate alarmists. Meanwhile, Walz has pushed for Minnesota to copy California’s radical vehicle emission standards that will enrich China, kneecap the state’s auto industry, and empower bureaucrats over the free market. Harris and Walz, both vocal proponents of “Medicare for all,” argue for eliminating private health insurance entirely. This would force all Americans into government-run health care plans, causing many to lose their doctors and forcing hospitals to operate with the same efficiency as DMVs. And despite student performance declining on his watch, Walz staunchly opposes parental rights and school choice, blocking parents from choosing the best education for their children and preventing students from having the best opportunities to succeed. As a teachers’ union darling, Walz kept Minnesota schools closed for months in response to COVID-19, even though data had proven it was safe to put kids back in classrooms. The following year, just 45% of Minnesota students were proficient in math, a 10-point drop after Walz took office. In a manner similar to corrupt Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Harris and Walz are radically pro-criminal. As California’s attorney general, Harris opposed the state’s “three strikes” law that keeps violent criminals in jail and worked to end cash bail, putting more criminals back on the street. As a U.S. senator in 2020, Harris helped bail out dangerous Black Lives Matter rioters. Meanwhile, Walz wants murderers and rapists to vote. He signed a bill allowing convicted felons to vote before completing their probation or parole. There is nothing joyous, liberating, or “wonderfully magical” about the possibility of a Harris-Walz regime. As their record shows, they want to concentrate power and expand federal control over virtually every aspect of American life. Americans are already feeling the repercussions of Harris and Walz’s progressive policies. Even DNC “freedom” branding can’t mask the most extensive overreach of federal power to date. Harris’ Trojan horse campaign will continue to hide behind rich celebrities, cringey memes, and happy talk from the Obamas — but Americans should know the dangers of what Kamala Harris is attempting to slip through the gates of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Dune Awakening’s approach to co-op goes well beyond MMO combat

Dune Awakening is not only exciting because of the massively-popular IP it’s pulling from but because it is an incredibly ambitious newcomer into the survival game scene. Its MMO approach means there are a lot of systems and opportunities to play with and against other players. That’s something we recently discussed with creative director Joel Bylos at Gamescom, who explained how Dune Awakening is aiming to make every element as co-op-friendly as possible, and how no matter how much time you can sink into the game, you won’t get left behind.
