This week, alleged comedian Stephen Colbert had on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins to discuss the 2024 presidential election. In the middle of the interview, Colbert began to ask Collins a question, in all sincerity: “I know you guys are objective over [at CNN], you just report the news as it is.” Colbert, presumably, expected his audience—all Kamala Harris fans, since Colbert is the most left-leaning host on late night television—to nod along. Instead, they laughed. They laughed because everyone in America knows, at this point, that the media have become stenographers for the Democratic Party. That process was well underway decades ago but accelerated dramatically under Barack Obama. Obama’s candidacy wasn’t treated like a normal candidacy in 2008; relevant stories ranging from his association with radical America-hating antisemite Jeremiah Wright to his corrupt connections in Chicago politics were quickly swept under the rug, deemed irrelevant in Obama’s quest for the White House. The media became cheerleaders. And they haven’t stopped. They spent four long years treating Donald Trump not just as a pariah but as a traitor to the country. Every Trump tweet was treated as a declaration of war on the American people; every Trump policy was greeted with the sort of horror normally reserved for nuclear war. Meanwhile, non-legacy media outlets were deemed misinformation and disinformation, threats to the republic itself. Social media outlets that deigned to allow distribution of such alternative media were themselves targeted as abiding dangers to democracy. Then Joe Biden was elected. For the next three-and-a-half years, the media did their best to treat his policies as benevolent and intelligent, even as inflation climbed to four-decade highs and the Middle East burst into flames. They treated his obvious senility as a matter not of controversy, but of established fact: It was a fact, they said, that he was doing just fine. Sure, he might be aging, but he was all there. Then Biden blew it all up. Insistent on his own durability and intellectual command—believing his own press clippings, presumably—Biden engaged in a debate with Trump. He proceeded to crumble on national television. And for approximately three weeks, the media did their jobs. They asked questions. They brought pressure to bear on Democratic lawmakers and White House insiders. And Biden stepped aside. Then, quick as lightning, the legacy media returned to their Obama-era identity: as water carriers for Harris. The same candidate they had once deemed incompetent and awkward, the same vice president they had once deemed irrelevant and off-putting, was now a goddess of political oratory. Her inheritance of the Democratic nomination meant a new round of legacy media prostration before the new crowned heir. And the heir is not to be questioned. Not about her lies. Not about the policies of her administration. Not about her kaleidoscopically shifting positions or her hideously dishonest vice presidential pick. We are now 25 days into Harris’ nomination. She has not answered a single, solitary adversarial question. She has not sat for a single interview—even with allies. She has not done a single serious press conference. And the media cheer. That is why the Colbert audience scoffs at CNN. Because they know the truth, as everyone does: that the legacy media are a propaganda outlet on behalf of the Democratic Party. That they act as a Praetorian Guard for Harris. That they deserve less than zero respect for their pseudo-journalism. They may be able to maintain the current cone of silence around Harris. They might be able to propel her to the White House on vibes alone. But sooner or later, the American people will wise up to the legacy media and realize that they belong on the ash heap of history. On Monday, August 12, Donald Trump and Elon Musk sat down for nearly two hours for an interview on X. The virality of their conversation was off the charts, amassing over one billion views on X. Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee, and Danielle D’Souza Gill, member of the advisory board for Women for Trump, join “Blaze News Tonight’s” Jill Savage to break down the highlights of the duo’s discussion. - YouTube www.youtube.com “What were your biggest takeaways from the big conversation that happened last night?” Jill asks Dillion. “I think it was a really interesting and wide-ranging conversation that allowed people to just kind of see who Trump is and what he thinks and why he believes what he believes without all of the gotcha questions,” says Dillon, adding that he was impressed by Musk’s lack of agenda. “Elon wasn't trying to make [Trump] sound like a monster, and I also didn't get the impression that Elon was trying to sell Trump to us. He was just trying to have a conversation with him,” he explains. Jill then plays a highlight from the interview during which Trump expresses his desire “to bring the American dream back.” “They want the American dream back,” Trump said, adding that this issue was “more important than anything else” to the American people. Dillon agrees wholeheartedly. “I think he's right. You know, the American people are struggling right now, and they want to hear about a path to a brighter future. They want to see the restoration of the American dream. I think that's absolutely true.” To be expected, the mainstream media, which is just an arm of the Democratic Party, is writhing over this interview and trying to downplay its popularity. “It got a lot more attention than the media wants us to think that it did,” says Dillon. “They try to act like it was just this nothing thing that had technical difficulties and no one was really tuning in or listening to it.” And he’s right. A quick Google search reveals page upon page of mainstream platforms denying the interview’s popularity and citing technical difficulties. Further, media outlets took the interview as an opportunity to slander and lie about Trump. They claimed he was “meandering” and “boring” (MSNBC), they said the interview was an attempt to “shore up the white male base” (Washington Post), and they accused him of “[rambling]” and “[slurring]” his way through the interview (USAToday). In fact, it’s hard to find anything positive that was said about the interview — yet another example of rampant censorship and media bias. A live-streamer with Portland Antifa was convicted Wednesday on charges related to rioting in 2021 at a park in Clackamas County, Oregon. 33-year-old Alissa Eleanor Azar was found guilty of felony rioting and guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, but the jury was hung on a charge of unlawful use of mace. 'Families deserve to feel safe in our parks.' The riot involved dozens of Antifa members and supporters clashing with Proud Boy members after a U.S. flag was burned by the leftists. Clackamas County Deputy District Attorney Josh Cutino argued that Azar was not acting as an independent journalist as she claimed but was participating in the rioting. He cited videos from the riot and also her social media posts, where she included herself as part of Antifa. "Some of these events got insanely brutal but people continued to defend our community by any means necessary," wrote Azar in one post. "The refusal to back down regardless of how intense things got by antifascists has resulted in the violent fascists to virtually f*** off and leave Portland." Cutino pointed out that Proud Boy members were also being prosecuted over the rioting. Azar also runs an OnlyFans account, which led to her children being taken away after her ex-husband argued in court that her political activism and online sex work had led to unsafe conditions for the children. Andy Ngo of the Postmillennial reported that other Antifa members attended the court hearings and allegedly tried to intimidate the jury members in hopes of causing a mistrial. He reported that Azar began crying as the verdicts were read. “Violence and rioting will not be tolerated in Clackamas County,” said District Attorney John Wentworth. “Law enforcement officers and prosecutors worked diligently to bring this case to trial because families deserve to feel safe in our parks.” Azar is scheduled for sentencing on Sept.9. In it Trump blamed “the complexity of modern day equipment” for making his voice sound “somewhat different and strange” during a live interview on X with Elon Musk. But while the Harris campaign shared what looked like a screenshot of the post, they cut off the last line, where Trump explained that he released “an actual, and perfect, recording of the conversation.” Exactly why the original broadcast sounded so odd is not totally clear — the Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday about what led to the sound quality issues and what tech they used to fix it.
