For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed. The usual Sunday political talk shows went about their usual business — with the exception of NBC, where “Meet the Press” was preempted by continued coverage of the Olympic Games in Paris — but while the hosts of those shows filled their time with questions on a range of topics, there were two glaring questions they didn’t ask: First, where is President Joe Biden? And second, why isn’t Vice President Kamala Harris answering questions? On ABC, driven largely by “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos, much of the conversation focused on former President Donald Trump’s comments about Vice President Harris identifying as black — when it was politically advantageous — after leaning into her Indian heritage for similar reasons. As Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance explained during a later interview, the point he was making was that Harris was a “chameleon.” Still, Stephanopoulos grilled Rep. Byron Donalds on the comments, asking several times in contentious tones about Trump’s comments. Donalds repeatedly waved off the onslaught — telling the former Democrat operative that comments like that were distractions and side issues — and tried to bring the conversation back to Harris’ liberal record as U.S. Senator and her repeated failures since she was inaugurated as Biden’s Vice President. He talked about it on the stage yesterday in Atlanta for, what, two minutes? He spent more than 35, 40 minutes going after her record, talking about how radical of a senator that she was. She was the most liberal senator in the United States Senate. That is a fact. He talked about the job that she did as vice president of the United States. A job, I will add, which has been a failure for the American people. I know you guys like to glom on to this, that he talks about in jest or in a serious manner for about a minute or so. What you do not cover is the litany of failures of Kamala Harris. Also apparently outside their scope of interest was landing the first interview — or even asking the first tough question — of Vice President Harris since she landed at the top of the 2024 Democratic ticket despite never earning a single primary vote on her own. UAP whistleblower David Grusch has filed a lawsuit against the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department for releasing his confidential medical records related to a mental health episode in 2018. The lawsuit claims this disclosure violated his privacy and potentially Virginia state privacy laws, reports unknowncountry.com. The records, obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, were featured in an August 9, 2023 article in The Intercept, which former CIA Staff Operations Officer Tracy Walder called “a smear campaign.” These police reports detailed incidents in 2014 and 2018 at Grusch’s Leesburg, Virginia residence. The 2018 incident involved treatment for severe depression due to combat-related PTSD and a friend’s recent death. Despite this, Grusch openly discussed his mental health struggles and had been cleared for duty and high security clearance. He revealed this to investigative journalist Ross Coulthart shortly before his claims about UAP-related programs hiding from Congressional oversight were publicized on June 5, 2023, by The Debrief and NewsNation. “I served in Afghanistan, and I had a friend that committed suicide after I got back,” Grusch said in an August 8, 2023 NewsNation segment. “I dealt with that for a couple of years, and I’m proud as a veteran not to become a statistic. Totally took care of that issue in my life, and it doesn’t affect me anymore.” Filed on July 16, 2024, the $2.1 million lawsuit argues that releasing private records violated the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. The Act states that “recordings, records, reports, and documents” like those published by The Intercept “shall not be subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act,” as per section 37.2-818 of the Code of Virginia’s Commitment hearing for involuntary admission. “David Grusch and his lawyer clearly believe that the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department had no business releasing what was essentially David’s private health information,” Coulthart noted in a July 31 NewsNation video. He emphasized that “all US citizens have very important privacy rights under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, which sets a clear standard that private medical records must not be disclosed without authorization. “This privacy right should have been considered when deciding to release details of David’s mental trauma and personal health issues under the FOI laws. Substitute host Tracy Smith introduced the gush with gush: “Her interview with the House Speaker Emerita that has a new book out, The Art of Power, an art which Nancy Pelosi is something of a master.” Pelosi started with the implausible claim that she and her husband Paul Pelosi have never discussed the traumatic hammer attack on him in their San Francisco home. Naturally, she noted her family blamed Republicans for casting her as a devil with cloven hoofs and horns on her head. She blamed Trump, as CBS helpfully played a clip of Donald Trump mocking him at a rally. Then she added that she didn’t really run a pressure campaign to force out President Biden. She insisted she never made one phone call about it. (Okay, she told everyone he had to go, face to face. That makes a difference?) STAHL: She mentioned his many accomplishments, including his forceful leadership of the NATO summit with other Western heads of state. PELOSI: He was in a good place to make whatever decision, top of his game. Such a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore kind of president of the United States. Want to know what comes next. STAHL: Are you really saying that he belongs up there on Mount Rushmore? Lincoln and Joe Biden? PELOSI: But you got Teddy Roosevelt up there, and he’s wonderful. I don’t say take him down, but you can add Biden. Stahl just had to follow up that comedy with flattery: “If there were a Mount Rushmore for Speakers of the House, Nancy Pelosi would certainly be up there, commemorating her 20 years as a commanding leader in Congress.” After listing "accomplishments" like Obamacare and Covid policy, Stahl then predictably turned to January 6, and once again, Pelosi was only a target and not to be held accountable for anything, especially the Capitol Police shooting rioter Ashli Babbitt to death. That never comes up. STAHL: And the dark day of January 6th. You, in the book, talk about hearing the crowd saying, Nancy, Nancy! "We're coming for you, bitch," is what they said. You knew what was happening that day was directed at you. PELOSI: And the vice president. It was an insurrection instigated by the president of the United States. He now tries to disassociate himself from it, blaming it it on me and everybody else, but that's the way he is. This was instigated by him. Then she followed up with the Pelosi family propaganda, as filmed by her daughter Alexandra for HBO, in which she said she would punch out Trump if he came to the Hill, and gladly go to jail. But CBS enabled Pelosi by not discussing the newly emerging clip from those family sessions, where on that day, the Speaker took "responsibility" for the unreadiness of law enforcement. Democrats and their media allies can't let the Republicans change the narrative.
