Marl Zuckerberg Visits President Trump: Dinner, Not Prison?

President-Elect Trump once threatened to imprison Meta/Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, but as the winds of change took hold, he started singing Donald Trump’s praises. Zuck visited Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago and sat with him for a Thanksgiving Eve dinner. The censorship king of Facebook has been gradually changing his spiel, and after the Butler attempt […] The post Marl Zuckerberg Visits President Trump: Dinner, Not Prison? appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Minnesota’s State Legislature Is Tied with 20 Ballots Missing

The Sentinel mentioned the Minnesota state legislature election. One seat kept Republicans from controlling the legislature. The Democrats won by 14 votes, but 20 (not 21) ballots had gone missing. The race that cost Republicans a majority in Minnesota’s State House, was won by democrats by only 14 votes. But here is the twist, 21 […] The post Minnesota’s State Legislature Is Tied with 20 Ballots Missing appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

The Temptations Brought “The Month Of May” To The Chilly Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Temptations warmed hearts as they sang their hit My Girl for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 98th annual parade made its way through New York City today. Despite temperatures being in the high 40s with bone-chilling rain, people lined the route from 77th Street to Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square. This year’s musical lineup included acts such as Dan + Shay, Jimmy Fallon and the Roots, and Jennifer Hudson. It also included the legendary Motown group, who performed on the Wonder Bread float, also known as the “Wondership.” Of course during today's @Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade there was a flawless transition from @thetemptations' My Girl to @McDonalds Grimace (via @NBC) pic.twitter.com/6eRTTuqt5W— SNY Mets (@SNY_Mets) November 28, 2024 A video posted by the SNY Mets shows the soul singers performing their 1965 classic while donning raingear and huddling under umbrellas. Their fans were all doing the same, but they didn’t seem to mind the weather. “TEMPTATIONS MY GIRL IN THE PARADE I ALMOST CRIED,” someone posted on X. Mets Fans Believe The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Temptations Performance Was A Nod To Their Team Mets fans couldn’t help but notice that the Grimace was following right after the Temptations throughout the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. My Girl has long been associated with the baseball team, and Grimace became their good luck charm after the McDonald’s mascot threw the first ball for a game and ended their losing slump. Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and they just had The Temptations sing “My Girl” followed immediately by Grimace on the McDonald’s car……I miss the Mets pic.twitter.com/hKNcOepoCV— Joe Malfa (@MalfaJ98) November 28, 2024 “Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and they just had The Temptations sing My Girl followed immediately by Grimace on the McDonald’s car…… I miss the Mets,” another fan wrote. Why do EV batteries drain faster in the winter?

As electric vehicles (EVs) grow in popularity, more drivers are learning to navigate the quirks of battery technology. One of the most noticeable challenges is that EV battery performance drops drastically in winter. This isn’t just an inconvenience—it highlights the complex relationship between temperature and battery performance. Most EVs run off lithium-ion batteries, which rely on chemical reactions to store and release energy. These reactions are highly sensitive to temperature. In cold weather, the battery's internal resistance increases, slowing down the movement of lithium ions between the anode and cathode. This reduces the battery's capacity to hold and deliver energy efficiently. Additionally, colder temperatures increase the viscosity of electrolytes—the liquid or gel that facilitates ion movement. This further hampers energy transfer, resulting in less available power. In practical terms, an EV's range can drop by 20-30 percent in freezing conditions, making EV winter performance less than optimal. A blizzard has covered a suburban street with snow. Image source: V. J. Matthew/Adobe Winter weather doesn’t just affect the battery itself—it also changes how we use our EVs. Heating the cabin, defrosting windows, and running heated seats and steering wheels all consume additional power. Unlike internal combustion engine vehicles, which use excess heat from the engine for these functions, EVs rely directly on their battery to provide warmth, placing an extra strain on energy reserves. This leads to even more drops in EV battery performance. However, EV manufacturers are aware of these challenges and have introduced technologies to help. For example, many EVs now feature preconditioning systems, which allow drivers to warm the battery and cabin while the car is still plugged into a charger. This not only preserves range but also ensures the car is comfortable from the start. EV manufacturers are also working to create improved EV batteries with faster-charging technology, including an EV battery that can regain 185 miles in range with just five minutes of charging. Graffiti Was a Powerful Form of Protest in Ancient Rome – as Gladiator II Shows

Claire Holleran/The Conversation Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II features a scene in which a senator, seated at a pavement cafe in Rome, reads a printed newspaper. The moment has caused history buffs around the world to wince – the printing press wouldn’t be invented for another 1,200 years. But the film also depicts a much more authentic form of mass communication in the ancient city: writing on walls. This includes not only the formal and well-planned inscriptions shown on buildings and triumphal arches, but the informal scratchings, painted notices and charcoal messages scribbled on the walls of the city. 1,500-Year-Old Graffiti reveals Gladiator Battles Romans Look to Have Brought Bedbugs to Britain Read moreSection: ArtifactsAncient WritingsNewsHistory & ArchaeologyRead Later
