President Joe Biden said in an interview that aired this week that former President Barack Obama asked him to be his running mate in 2020, which was during the Trump administration. Biden made the remarks during an interview on Complex’s “360 With Speedy” that was taped late last week. Biden said, “But I didn’t plan on running because when I, in 2020, when I, my, when Barack asked me to be vice president, I, uh, I, I joined him, which was a great honor and, uh, but after that I became a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.” The 81-year-old was asked by Obama to be his vice president in 2008 and he served in the role for both terms and left office in January 2017. Country music singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress said in a statement on Tuesday that she is checking herself into rehab after she was widely slammed over her disastrous rendition of the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas, on Monday night. “I’m not gonna bulls*** y’all, I was drunk last night,” she posted on social media. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. Virginia police officer Mervin Mayo made the “AGT” audience swoon when he sang a romantic cover of Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud for his wife. Mervin took the stage during tonight’s (July 16) audition episode and melted the crowd and judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and Sofía Vergara with his inspirational backstory. The officer has been with the force for 19 years and has dedicated his life to “working with at-risk youth” because he “was an at-risk youth.” “I grew up in a housing project in Richmond, Virginia,” he shared. “And there was a program called the Police Athletic League. An officer named Curtis Simmons kind of took me under his wing ’cause I was a little mischievous growing up, and he kept me safe.” “I’m alive today because he kept me out of it,” Mervin continued. “And I, I thank him for that ‘cause I tell people I’ve seen more murders as a child than I have as a police officer.”  The Police Officer’s Wife Was “The Reason” He Auditioned For “AGT” Along with his passion for serving, Mervin also has a passion for singing. But he’d never had the courage to perform outside of karaoke bars. His wife, Mechelle, pushed him to take his dreams further and audition for AGT. “My wife is the reason that I’m here today,” he said. “She tells me to follow my dream. And music is in me, yeah, it’s in me.”  The police officer sat at a piano to sing the classic love song. The deep emotion in his voice made the couples embrace and the crowd cheer. A volunteer went to an animal shelter to pick up kittens but came home with a cat that needed her help. Josephine and her kittensJenniferJennifer, a volunteer for Humane Society for Hamilton County, went to the shelter, thinking she would bring home a few kittens to foster.She came across a heavily pregnant cat named Josephine, who was expected to give birth any day. The shelter environment became increasingly stressful for her, and she urgently needed a foster home.Josephine gazed at Jennifer with pleading eyes as she stopped to check on her. "I went to pick up a litter of kittens and walked out with her instead," Jennifer shared with Love Meow. JenniferShortly after arriving at her foster home, Josephine seemed relieved and plopped down on the floor for a stretch and belly rubs. She was delighted to find toys strewn about and started wrestling with them with a kitten-like spirit."She was very social and friendly from the start. She settled right into the foster room." Jennifer"She is protective of her babies and has been keeping them well fed and squeaky clean."At four days old, the kittens seemed to be a week ahead of schedule as their eyes started to open. "Their weights are way above average. They are super alert and mobile. My only guess is that Josephine was overdue when she finally gave birth."
