Report: Biden To Push For Major Changes At Supreme Court; Term Limits, Ethics Code

President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to push major changes to the Supreme Court after years of lobbing attacks against the court and flouting its authority. Biden is planning to endorse an effort to establish term limits for Supreme Court, as well as enact an enforceable code of ethics for justices, according to The Washington Post. The effort may include other changes, as well as a push for a constitutional amendment that would strike broad immunity for constitutional officeholders, such as Supreme Court justices, the president, and others. The left flank of the Democratic Party has pressured the president to crack down on the Supreme Court for years, particularly after the court overturned Roe v. Wade and then recently ruled that presidents have immunity from prosecution for exercising core constitutional powers. Biden outlined his plans in a call over the weekend with the Congressional Progressive Caucus. “I’m going to need your help on the Supreme Court, because I’m about to come out — I don’t want to prematurely announce it — but I’m about to come out with a major initiative on limiting the court … I’ve been working with constitutional scholars for the last three months, and I need some help,” Biden told the caucus, according to a transcript obtained by The Washington Post. The feasibility of Biden’s proposed changes is unclear. The changes would likely need congressional approval, a dubious bet with Republicans in control of the House of Representatives, though only by a thin margin. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The president recently blasted the court as “out of touch with what the founders intended” over a ruling finding some degree of immunity for former president Donald Trump for actions he took while in office. Biden called the ruling a “terrible decision” in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt. That attack followed a public address on the court’s decision. Biden expressed, “I dissent.” “This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America; each of us is equal before the law,” Biden said. The decision sets a “dangerous precedent, because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law,” he continued. Biden’s increasing attacks on the legitimacy of the court are having a poisonous effect on American politics, according to experts. Kyle Brosnan, chief counsel for the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, called Biden’s behavior unprecedented. “I see President Biden’s statements as another datapoint in a years-long crusade by the left to delegitimize the Supreme Court because they don’t like their rulings,” Brosnan said. “[The Trump immunity decision] is a win for the office of the presidency and President Biden should be celebrating that he’s likely insulated from facing potential charges for weaponizing the Justice Department to go after his political enemies,” he continued.

Jack Black’s Bandmate Apologizes For ‘Dangerous’ Comment About Trump Assassination Attempt; Dropped By Talent Agency

Jack Black’s Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass issued an apology for the “dangerous” comment he made about the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. On Sunday, the band was performing in Australia when Black asked Gass to make a birthday wish and he replied from the stage, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” Gass made the comment less than 24 hours after a shooter attempted to assassinate the former president on Saturday during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooting injured Trump and left one of his supporters dead along with injuring two others. “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” Gass said in statement, Variety reported.  “I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone.” “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement,” he added. “I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.” A backlash ensued against Gass and Black, and the “School of Rock” star apologized for what happened and said he was “blindsided” by Gass’ comment, as previously reported. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.” The talent agency, Greene Talent, representing the musician/actor, told TMZ they had parted ways and were no longer representing him. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.” In the same message, the former president emphasized that “it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win.” Related: Jack Black’s Bandmate Has A Birthday Wish: ‘Don’t Miss Trump Next Time’

Shannen Doherty Once Shared The Sweet Lesson A Snoopy Cartoon Taught Her About Living

When Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with cancer, a poignant Snoopy cartoon became her daily reminder to live her last days with purpose. Amy Robach remembered the late actress during her Amy and T.J. podcast this week. While chatting, she shared a conversation she had with Shannen that stuck with her and is especially meaningful today.  “She referenced a Charlie Brown, Snoopy cartoon that she looked at, she said daily, like in the morning to just remind her she knew her time was limited,” Amy said. “All of our time is limited, but she was acutely aware of it, obviously.” “She said, ‘Charlie Brown says to Snoopy, YOLO, Snoopy. You only live once.’  And Snoopy said, ‘You know, you got it wrong, Charlie Brown. You only die once. We live every day,’ ” Amy continued. The podcast host went on to say that Shannen chose to live her “last few years” with that motto.
