56-year-old comedian-actor Jamie Foxx has opened up about the cause of his prolonged hospitalization last year, with more details to come in a new comedy show. For Foxx, who was absent from the limelight for weeks upon weeks, much of it is a blur; the situation grew so dire he “saw the tunnel” and could not imagine emerging triumphantly from his health scare. Foxx has alluded to some of his experience has he himself made sense of what happened; Foxx has said “I don’t remember anything” from his time convalescing. There, he discussed his recent condition and recovery. I’m going to do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage. He continued, “Next thing I knew, I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything. I was in Atlanta, and my sister and daughter took me to the doctor. The doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there.’ I won’t say what it was on camera, but it was serious.” Foxx made his first public appearance in December 2023 at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television. There, he also addressed his enigmatic health scare. “I couldn’t do that six months ago, I couldn’t actually walk to [the stage],” he admitted. It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now, it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. It was hot in that tunnel, too, I don’t know where I was going. ‘Sh—t, am I going to the right place?'” His daughter Corinne had been the primary line of communication, keeping fans updated on his well-being and recovery.
