ISPs say there’s no need for new customer service rules; everything is great

Cath Virginia / The Verge | Photo from Getty Images Trade associations involved in US broadband and wireless service say competition forces them to have good customer service, which may be news to many customers. The comments are in response to the FCC’s October inquiry reviewing the quality of internet and phone providers’ customer support. Ars Technica quotes a filing from NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, which says that in order to “attract and retain customers, NCTA’s cable operator members continuously strive to ensure that the customer support they provide is effective and user-friendly.” USTelecom, which has AT&T, Verizon, Frontier, and SpaceX among its members, says customers already get “high-quality customer service” because of the “competitive broadband market.”... Artists say they leaked OpenAI’s Sora video model in protest

A still from a video generated by OpenAI’s Sora. | OpenAI OpenAI first teased its text-to-video AI model, Sora, back in February and hasn’t provided any meaningful updates on when it will be released since then. Now, it looks like some artists leaked access to the model in protest of being used by the company for what they claim is “unpaid R&D and PR.” On Tuesday, a group of Sora beta testers claimed to have leaked early access to Sora with a working interface for generating videos. In a post on Hugging Face, a public repository of AI models, they say that people were able to create lots of AI videos — all of which resemble OpenAI’s own Sora demos — before the company intervened to shut down access. (TechCrunch first reported on the alleged leak.) From the group’s open letter: DEAR CORPORATE... Continue reading…

Pamela Anderson Speaks Up About Her Decades-Long Struggle With Depression

Pamela Anderson’s smile and confidence is one that has captivated audiences for decades now. Away from her career and public personality, the 57-year-old actress has been battling with depression. Anderson’s revelation came during her appearance at the Zurich Film Festival, where she accepted the prestigious Golden Eye Award for her upcoming film, The Last Showgirl. She talked about her depression, which she says has been going on for ‘decades.’ Pamela Anderson opens up about her struggles with depression             View this post on Instagram                         A post shared by Pamela Anderson (@pamelaanderson)   In her interview with Variety, Anderson confessed that she never thought she would be on stage, receiving an award like that. “I’m just happy to be here, in this moment,” she said. After making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the Tony-winning musical Chicago in 2022, her career experienced a revival. The actress who became famous as Casey Jean “C.J.”  on Baywatch, never imagined she would become a Broadway actress. Anderson also featured in her 2023 documentary Pamela, a Love Story and memoir Love, Pamela which she received praise from fans over. Her latest role in The Last Showgirl, which was directed by Coppola, shows the life of Shelley, an aging showgirl who tries to figure out life after her 30-year show closes. She felt like the part was made for her, saying, “I don’t think I could have played this character if I had not lived the life I had.” Pamela Anderson/Everett Pamela Anderson has let go of her ‘‘cartoon character’’ Anderson has been committed to being authentic and original and this extends beyond her career. It has also influenced her personal life and beauty standards. She has embraced a makeup-free lifestyle, minimalism, and self-acceptance. “It’s really empowering,” she says. “I’m trying to find myself, underneath it all, and peel back the layers.” Pamela Anderson / Instagram “I’d rather be raw,” she says. “One eye is smaller than the other, my nose is crooked, my lips are weird. Everyone is weird. Everyone has imperfections.” The model now feels more in touch with her natural beauty by not wearing makeup, and she is now distant from her “cartoon character.” Next up: Kirsten Dunst Recalls How Tom Cruise Decorated Her Dressing Room On ‘Interview With The Vampire’ Set The post Pamela Anderson Speaks Up About Her Decades-Long Struggle With Depression appeared first on DoYouRemember? - The Home of Nostalgia.
