With Intel’s stability issues still raging on, and no sign of the root cause for game crashes on Intel CPUs in sight, a representative from a motherboard maker has commented on the situation, saying that the problem needs to be “clearly resolved.” Failure for Intel to do so, according to the official, will result in problems for Intel, including a lack of sales of its forthcoming Arrow Lake desktop CPUs. It’s not often that manufacturers of the best gaming motherboards publicly comment on the companies that make CPUs and motherboard chipsets. You really feel like you’ve spent your money wisely when you first get the Razer Blade 16 (2024) out of its box and into your hands. Its anodized black aluminum chassis feels pleasingly cold under your fingers, while its build quality, slim dimensions, and glowing Razer logo in the lid make it look and feel like a truly luxury product. It feels crass to use the word “sexy” to describe a computer, but it works here. You’d expect that, though, when this laptop lineup starts at $2,999. The question is whether it’s truly worth all that money. It’s that base $2,999 version that I’m reviewing here and, on paper, it definitely has the makings of one of the best gaming laptops I’ve ever used. Unlike the 2023 model of the Blade 16, the new 2024 model has an OLED screen as standard, and it comes with a 24-core Intel CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU as well. I love Dead by Daylight, I really do. As someone who generally loathes multiplayer games, and considers gaming a solitary pastime, you can imagine my continued surprise at just how enjoyable DBD has been for all these years. While League of Legends will always be the game I default back to, I can't deny I don't enjoy its lack of flexibility. New modes like Arenas and the upcoming Swarm definitely combat that feeling of repetition, but ultimately I find my Summoner's Rift games blur into a mash of blue, green, brown, and expletives. At the latest Nintendo Direct Showcase, we learned that Nintendo will be releasing Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, a Switch remaster of the 2010 Wii game that previously saw a re-release on the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. One of the best titles in the fantastic Donkey Kong Country series, this new release will bring this challenging but riveting adventure to a whole new audience on Nintendos ever-popular hybrid device. Its definitely a game to look forward to in the early part of 2025 while we wait for Nintendo's next console.
