When NBC went on the air on Thursday for their special coverage of former President Donald Trump’s conviction in New York, legal analyst Laura Jarrett touched on the reaction the verdict received from his supporters. The only problem for NBC was that the footage they showed alongside Jarrett of a hysterical Trump supporter who could be heard yelling and screaming throughout her report was of a Jimmy Kimmel-employed liberal actor. The man’s name is Tony Barbieri, who does a bit for Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he calls himself Jake Byrd and travels across the country acting like a caricatured conservative, and NBC is hardly the first media outlet to treat him as an actual conservative. In 2022, CNN actually interviewed him pretending to be a Herschel Walker supporter.     Jarrett reported that “You can hear the crowd here. There’s a lot of Trump supporters out here that you can hear, are very worked up as I was reading the verdict, I could hear the crowd. Emotion growing behind me. I'm only a couple yards away from the area that you can see on your screens right there, sort of, the First Amendment area, if you will. Just a stone's throw away from the press area. It’s been growing as the day went on.” Just as CNN should’ve been tipped off by Barbieri’s Hillary Clinton-inspired “I’m with Herschel” shirt, NBC should’ve been tipped off by his “Free Father Teresa” sign, which is a reference to a comment Trump made earlier in the trial that amused Kimmel. Kimmel confirmed it was a bit later on his show where the production team put together a montage of Barbieri’s antics that naturally showed the NBC clop. It also showed him being unironically interviewed by TV3CAT out of Catalonia, with the reporter asking, “Why are you here today?” Barbieri was shown, on air, answering, “It's not that we think Trump is innocent. It's that we don't care.”  CBS’s eye-in-the-sky footage also picked up Barbieri as correspondent Robert Costa reported, “Trump supporters across the country, there's anger and frustration right now. And Trump campaign officials are arguing this is going to make Trump stronger inside the party.” Meanwhile, he was also shown telling a British reporter, “They say he's guilty of fraud. What does fraud even mean? What's it mean? I don't know, do you know?” After the reporter explained, “Election fraud is what they found him guilty of. By hiding information that voters might have used to vote differently. That's essentially what they found him guilty of,” Barbieri continued in his role as the dumb MAGA voter, “Okay, well, maybe he did that, but he’s not guilty.” Other outlets that got fooled include Mediaite, which ironically first reported the CNN-Walker prank, the Guardian, and even Fox News. Among the multitude of overjoyed news reporters, Friday's CBS Mornings was no exception, but Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) burst some bubbles, while explaining many parts of the trial which were either downplayed or ignored outright.  Cotton explained to co-host Tony Dokoupil that the verdict from Trump's trial will mean little overall in November and strongly criticized its legitimacy: Because this was a sham, rigged political show trial from the very beginning. You have a prosecutor who campaigned on the promise to get Trump on anything. You have a judge who's literally a Joe Biden donor who rigged the rulings at every turn to include, for instance, a gag order while the President was on the campaign trail. But as President Trump just said or you just heard him say, the real verdict is going to come on November 5, and it's going to be made by the American people, and it's going to be based on things like Joe Biden's record of runaway inflation and a wide open Southern border and war and chaos all around the world. And they will see through this sham trial that was designed from the very beginning to be election interference because Joe Biden knows he can't win on his own failed record.         It was no surprise Dokoupil and featured co-host Vladimir Duthiers were not pleased with Cotton’s remarks, questioning his view of the trial, his civics and whether he objects purely because his candidate did not win: DOKOUPIL: Senator, you're a Harvard law school grad. Are you saying that Americans can no longer place their trust in their judicial system? (...) DUTHIERS: Are you telling the American people then, that if an outcome with a jury of the former President's peers is not to your liking it's a rigged judicial system? DOKOUPIL: – Senator, Senator, I want – I want to stick to the trial and the result. You know, some of the allegations you made are true, some of them are half true. All of them went through this judicial process, and there's still an appeals process, so the day will come when Donald Trump and his lawyers will be able to make these points publicly. On the political front, I am curious as a potential VP pick for the former President, does it give you pause to be potentially on the ticket with now a convicted felon? COTTON: No. I support Donald Trump more strongly than ever because, again, he was being charged with these sham indictments precisely because he's the Republican nominee for President. Precisely because he is the leader of a party that's going to help repair the damage that the Democrats have inflicted on working families for the last four years. So I'm going to continue to support Donald Trump strongly, work to elect him to the White House, work to elect a working Republican majority to the Congress to help implement an agenda that will begin to repair the damage that Joe Biden has inflicted on America. COTTON: Well, Vlad, let's be clear. I respect the jury system. I followed the evidence in this case very closely, though. I think the jury made a mistake in no small part because you had a partisan judge misleading them every single turn. He gave them instructions that they didn't even have to unanimously find that President Trump covered up a specific crime. He didn't let them see the evidence that President Trump wanted to put in the case. He didn't force this prosecutor, who himself had campaigned on getting President Trump, to reveal the underlying crime on which President Trump was supposedly accused. All of these things were a way to direct the jury to this verdict. The blame here rests with the judge and the prosecutor and the Democrats who weaponized the legal system against President Trump. MICHELLE MILLER: Senator, Michelle Miller here. I'm curious, in the last 24 hours, have you spoken to the former President? And if so, what did he talk to you about and did it venture into whether or not you would be his running mate? COTTON: No, I haven't spoken to President Trump since the verdict. But I do believe that what he said to the American people immediately after the public is what really matters here. That the verdict is going to be rendered by them on November 5th. And I'm confident that they're going to re-elect President Trump to a second term because they want a change in direction. And I know that's where he's focused, as well. MILLER: Have you spoken to him at all about being his running mate? COTTON: No. I haven't spoken to President Trump or anyone in the Trump campaign about his vice presidential selection or any selections for his administration. Britain has managed in recent months to break the stranglehold of gender ideology. This liberation has been expedited by the April release of Dr. Hilary Cass' final report entitled, "The Independent Review of Gender Identity Services for Children and Young People." The report, the result of a multiyear investigation now referred to as the Cass Review, was commissioned by National Health Service England in 2020. To the chagrin of LGBT activists and other radicals, the Cass Review effectively demolished gender ideologues' arguments in favor of genital mutilation, puberty blockers, and other so-called "gender-affirming care." The Cass Review noted, for instance, that the "systematic review showed no clear evidence that social transition in childhood has any positive or negative mental health outcomes, and relatively weak evidence for any effect in adolescence." It also indicated that while puberty blockers "exert their intended effect in suppressing puberty," they compromise bone density and have no apparent impact on "gender dysphoria or body satisfaction." Among the report's various recommendations was a call for a moratorium on prescriptions of puberty blockers to kids. The British government heeded Cass' suggestion this week, banning puberty blockers in private clinics. 'Today I have taken bold action to protect children.' British Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Victoria Atkins tweeted, "Today I have taken bold action to protect children following the Cass Review, using emergency powers to ban puberty blockers for new treatments of gender dysphoria from private clinics and for all purposes from overseas prescribers into Great Britain." The drugs in question, luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonists, also known as GnRHa, have long been used to chemically castrate sex offenders. Blaze News previously reported that these sex offender drugs were rebranded in recent years as puberty blockers and offered to confused children despite evidence showing that such treatments deplete victims' bone density, create sexless adults, hamper cognitive development, and produce mood disorders. National Health Service England banned them in public clinics in March, recognizing them as neither safe nor effective. The health minister's Wednesday order, "The Medicines (Gonadotrophin-Releasing Hormone Analogues) (Emergency Prohibition) (England, Wales and Scotland) Order 2024," will now spare children from the sex offender drugs outside the government system as well, prohibiting the sale or supply of GnRH analogues. The order, which goes into effect on June 3, states that the ban is necessary "to avoid serious danger to health." "Our children deserve health care that is compassionate, caring, and careful, and that is what a Conservative Government would deliver," said Atkins, who indicated the ban will also close prescription loopholes. Gender ideologues and other radicals sporting pronouns in their profiles lashed out at Atkins as they had at Cass, recycling the now-debunked claims about "gender-affirming care" saving lives. Chris Noone, a researcher at the University of Galway and a board member on the National LGBT Federation, for instance, said the government's decision to protect children from sex offender drugs was "cruel, heartless & rash. The Cass Review should not dictate policy considering its serious flaws & you have now suddenly taken away a vital support for many children without considering the very likely & very significant harm you will cause them." The ban was celebrated by others, including former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who wrote, "This is very welcome. I've met parents in Fareham whose children were put on puberty blockers, regretting it years later. Children must not be placed on puberty blockers as a way of treating gender dysphoria.
