Some minor vaccine reactions may result in local discomfort or swelling, whereas more significant vaccine reactions can cause vomiting and signs of shock. If vomiting is due to motion sickness, your vet may recommend withholding food prior to the appointment, as well as recommend administering a medication like Cerenia®, an anti-nausea medication used for motion sickness. Astronomers are reporting the discovery of SPECULOOS-3b, an Earth-sized planet that orbits an ultracool dwarf, a star not much bigger than Jupiter. This is the only second known system such as this. The other one is the well-known TRAPPIST-1, which sports seven Earth-sized planets. The new system is 55 light-years away.The star has a surface that is twice as cold as the Sun’s own, and that makes it about 1,000 times dimmer. But the planet is a lot closer to it than Earth is to the Sun. It goes around its star in just 17 hours and it is blasted by 16 times more radiation per second than our planet.It's likely this is only on one side, because orbiting so close, the planet is expected to be tidally locked like the Moon is tidally locked to Earth. One side of SPECULOOS-3b is in perennial night while the other is in constant light. But this gives astronomers an opportunity to study it directly.“We can say from our spectra and other observations that the star has a temperature of about 2,800 kelvins, it is about 7 billion years old – not too young, and not too old – and it is moderately active, meaning that it flares quite a lot,” co-author Benjamin Rackham from MIT said in a statement. “We think the planet must not have an atmosphere anymore because it would easily have been eroded away by the activity of the host star that’s basically constantly flaring.”While an atmosphere seems unlikely, there is an even more exciting possibility for this world. The team believes that by observing the planet going behind the star 10 times with JWST, they will be able to confirm whether it has an atmosphere or not. If it doesn’t, they might be able to study its rocks. And that would be a first.“If there’s no atmosphere, there would be no blue sky or clouds – it would just be dark, like on the surface of the moon,” Rackham explained. “And the ‘sun’ would be a big, purplish-red, spotted, and flaring star that would look about 18 times as big as the sun looks to us in the sky.”“SPECULOOS-3b is the first planet for which we can consider moving toward constraining surface properties of planets beyond the Solar System,” added study co-author Julien de Wit, associate professor of planetary sciences at MIT. “With this world, we could basically start doing exoplanetary geology. How cool is that?”   Understanding the composition of a world in another solar system is extremely important. We could learn how similar or different rocky planets elsewhere are, and whether all of them have the ingredients that might make life. The star is also the most common type of star in the galaxy (70 percent of all the stars in the Milky Way) and it is supposed to live 10 times as long as our Sun. Understanding habitability conditions around it will tell us how likely life elsewhere is. The study is published in the journal Nature Astronomy.

While there hasn't been a whole lot of research on the topic (there are plenty of more interesting mysteries to solve before we move on to sandwich fillings), there has been a little, so let's dive right into it.In 2012, a team of researchers from the University of Oklahoma wondered if the green discoloration could be harmful to health. The discoloration is to do with how bacon is cured with nitrites (as well as salt and sodium). Before you become disgusted and throw away your butty in disgust, you should know that nitrates and nitrites are also responsible for the particular pink color you know and love.      The team found that the green color comes from a chemical reaction between nitrites and the protein myoglobin within the meat, termed "nitrite burn"."No one really knows if 'nitrite burn' is bad for you or not because there is so little information about the physiological effects on humans," George Richter-Addo from the University's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry explained in a press release."But, we have discovered that a simple chemical process, which inhibits the flow of oxygen in the blood and degrades the blood protein hemoglobin, causes the blood to turn from red to green. Identifying the degraded blood components allowed us to characterize the related green pigment seen in bacon and other meats."Nitrites have been used for centuries to cure meat due to their ability to slow bacteria and spoiling, keeping it safe to eat for longer, which was particularly useful prior to refrigeration. There is a debate about whetherthey are carcinogenic, with some evidence suggesting that they can interact with amines and amides to form N-nitroso compounds known to be carcinogenic in certain animals.The team planned to conduct further studies in other meats to determine if the discoloration was an indication of cancer-causing components, but that has not been forthcoming.

The documentary ‘God Versus Aliens’ is to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and reveal the Vatican’s secrets about UFOs. The number of nationwide gotaways has skyrocketed during President Joe Biden's White House tenure, according to statistics reported by Fox News' Bill Melugin, who indicated that he obtained more than a decade of data via a Freedom of Information Act request.Some of the numbers include 104,294 for FY 2017; 128,679 for FY 2018; 151,466 for FY 2019; 136,808 for FY 2020; 387,398 in FY 2021; 606,131 in FY 2022; and a whopping 670,674 in FY 2023. 'The most imminent threat to our national security is President Biden's self-inflicted border crisis.'The federal government's fiscal year runs from October through September. Biden took office in the midst of fiscal year 2021."Gotaways occur when cameras or sensors detect migrants crossing the border, but no one is found, or no agents are available to respond," a Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General report noted last year. "Gotaways are observational estimates and rely on agents identifying migrants as crossing illegally and tracking them to the point where they cannot be apprehended; however, an unknown number of migrants evade detection. Gen Z are the torchbearers of tomorrow, and it is necessary that they contribute in a productive and meaningful manner. The future leaders of the country should look to the past for traditional conservative values to achieve fulfilling, happy, and purpose-driven lives. Generation Z are classified as those born between 1997 and 2012. Gen Z currently composes 30% of the world's population and is estimated to account for 27% of the worldwide workforce by 2025. Gen Z is poised to be an influential voice in the upcoming presidential election. Nearly 41 million members of Gen Z will be eligible to vote in November. Gen Z members skew heavily toward being liberal Democrats. According to the nonprofit, nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute, 43% of Gen Z adults identify as liberal. In addition, 36% of Gen Zers are Democrats, while only 21% are Republican, the poll released in January found. However, 28% of post-Millennials are not happy in their lives, according to a Gallup poll from April. An additional 27% of Gen Z do not consistently feel like their lives matter. Roughly half often feel anxious, and approximately one in five often feel depressed. Gen Z should embrace these seven conservative values to discover that they can lead a meaningful existence, live more fulfilling lives, and improve their communities. Individual liberty The birth of our exceptional country was deeply influenced by the recognition of individual liberties as fundamental to forging a great nation. Individual liberties are enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. These critical documents vow that Americans will undoubtedly receive certain unalienable rights, such as "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Several provisions protect the rights and freedoms of individuals. Individual liberty continues to be a cornerstone of American democracy – and it is widely considered to be a conservative value. However, individual liberty is also critical for young people, as it fosters personal growth, encourages self-expression, cultivates creativity, and provides a sense of fulfillment. Fiscal prudence True conservatives preach financial responsibility for numerous reasons that are not only beneficial for government, but also for individuals. Cultivating habits of individual fiscal prudence enables young people to get ahead of the game with responsible financial planning. Personal fiscal prudence provides protection during emergencies or when there is an economic downturn. Practicing financial discipline offers opportunities, while those who make waste-penny missteps may find themselves in jeopardy. Responsible financial behaviors substantially lead to a positive credit history and credit score. Gen Z members with impressive credit scores will be able to attain more impressive long-term goals with favorable loans and mortgages. Those with financial independence are also ahead of the pack in education, career advancement, and entrepreneurial ventures. Individuals practicing fiscal prudence will also have less stress in their lives, and it will put them on a path toward financial freedom and self-reliance. Individuals living within their means enjoy a far greater peace of mind than those dealing with debt. Critical thinking and intellectual diversity Critical thinking and intellectual diversity are pivotal aspects of conservative values, including delivering a nurturing environment of open-mindedness, reasoned discourse, and intellectual curiosity. Critical thinking cultivates analytical skills, which in turn empower young adults to effectively assess information, evaluate arguments, and make reasoned judgments. Critical thinking provides critical problem-solving abilities to analyze real-world challenges and navigate life's turbulent times. Intellectual diversity instills tolerance of differing opinions and engages in respectful communication and active listening. Having intellectual diversity allows young individuals to contribute meaningful and constructive dialogue, even when confronted by others with completely different perspectives and ideologies. Remember back in 2021 when the Biden administration, let by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, guaranteed to the American people that inflation was “transitory” and would soon pass? Yellen has since switched her tune and now says bringing down inflation is Joe Biden’s top priority. If that is the case, he and his administration need to refocus. Whatever they’re doing is not working, and working Americans are suffering for it. These numbers are devastating for working-class Americans, and even the corporate media is starting to recognize the problem. The latest Producer Price Index, which shows the changes in prices that manufacturers pay to suppliers — in other words, the appetizer to next month’s consumer inflation rate — came in hotter than expected on Tuesday at 2.2% for the 12 months ending in April. This gain was higher than the downwardly revised number of 1.8% for the 12 months ending in March. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.5% in April, much faster than the 0.3% increase anticipated by mainstream economists, driven primarily by services and gas. The economic news did not get any better on Wednesday, when the Consumer Price Index, the measure of inflation at the consumer level, came in at 3.4%, which was in line with expectations. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, was 3.6%, showing that inflation remains sticky. Inflation is additive. The inflation rate in April 2023 was 4.9%, meaning that prices today, in aggregate, are 8.3% higher than they were in April 2022. Overall, prices are up more than 18% since Biden took office in 2021. Last, when inflation slows, prices do not go down; they just go up more slowly. These numbers are devastating for working-class Americans, and even the corporate media is starting to recognize the problem. Consumer credit card spending fell off a cliff in March, with the total outstanding revolving debt rising by only $152 million, versus an expected $15 billion. While credit card debt remains at a record $1.1 trillion, Americans can no longer afford to run up debt, so they have stopped spending. And it is little wonder with credit card interest rates just below 25%. Americans have depleted their savings, with the estimated $2.1 trillion in pandemic-era savings now gone. As a result, more Americans have fallen deeper into debt. In the first quarter of 2024, total household debt rose to a record of $17.69 trillion, driven mostly by an increase in mortgage balances and auto loans. And increasing debt is leading to increased payment delinquencies. Nearly 9% of credit card balances fell into delinquency over the past year, per the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In 2023, nearly 18% of middle-income Americans missed a mortgage, rent, car, or other debt payment, according to the Motley Fool. Millennials are increasingly seeing their cars face repossession for lack of payment. Foreclosure activity on homes continues to be at record highs, and approximately 65,000 people backed out of signed contracts to purchase a home in December 2023. Sadly, people are even giving up food, with 39% of Americans skipping meals to help make ends meet. While working Americans struggle, the Biden administration continues to pursue economic and social policies that augment rather than fight inflation. Biden, who falsely claims that inflation was at 9% when he assumed office (it was at 1.4%), continues to pump trillions of dollars into the economy — an economy that needs to cool off, not heat up. Billions for student debt forgiveness, green energy, so-called infrastructure projects, and a proposed fiscal year 2025 budget of $7.3 trillion will do nothing but contribute to inflation, as more and more dollars chase the same number of goods and services. The key question is what the Federal Reserve will do with interest rates. All economic indicators point to the Fed holding rates for the rest of the year, if not raising them by at least a quarter-point. Commenting on the April PPI, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said he did not expect the Fed’s next move to be an interest rate increase, suggesting that rates will remain where they are. The political pressure on Powell to cut rates before the November presidential election will be intense. Will he and the Fed’s board of governors have the courage to do the right thing for working Americans, or will they bow to the pressure and play politics with the nation’s economy?
