‘60 Minutes’ pushes lies to derail Trump’s deportation mandate

As the rubble is still being cleared from the presidential election, the corporate media should reflect on its shamelessly partisan coverage and how it once again failed to gauge voter sentiment. Instead, it is launching a massive campaign to sway public opinion against the priorities of Donald Trump’s second administration, specifically his plan to deport the millions of individuals who entered the country illegally over the past four years. This may seem like a Herculean lift, given that Trump made immigration reform a cornerstone of his campaign. Voters rewarded him with a landslide victory in the Electoral College and a decisive popular vote margin. Consistent with those results, a majority of Americans now support mass deportations. Undaunted, anti-borders activists in network and cable news are working tirelessly to derail Trump’s immigration policies, using misleading data, selective omissions, and sentimental appeals. The recent election results show the old media strategy is failing harder than ever. The campaign began even before Election Day. A week prior, CBS’ once-esteemed “60 Minutes” aired a feature examining what Trump’s immigration policy might entail. Correspondent Cecilia Vega accompanied Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on an arrest, spoke with illegal immigrants facing potential deportation, and interviewed Tom Homan, Trump’s pick for border czar and former acting ICE director. Full disclosure: Homan previously served as a senior fellow at the Immigration Reform Law Institute.During her interview with Homan, Vega used selective data to argue against mass deportations while disregarding statistics that strongly support the policy. She claimed, without citing a source, that deporting one million illegal aliens annually would cost $88 billion, framing this as an unreasonable and unacceptable expense. However, Vega omitted a 2023 cost study showing that illegal immigration imposes a total fiscal burden of $150.7 billion on U.S. taxpayers each year. This estimate obviously does not include the additional costs from 2024 or the additional strain on social services intended for U.S. citizens and legal residents. Why continue paying so much for chaos and crime when stable communities could be achieved for less? The report also featured Jason Houser, a former ICE chief of staff during the Biden administration, who portrayed himself as a pragmatic government official in opposition to Homan’s alleged extremism. Houser noted that detaining illegal aliens arrested by ICE costs $150 per night, a figure framed as an unnecessary waste of taxpayer dollars.Vega again failed to provide viewers with the complete story. Under the Biden administration’s border policies, the federal government and New York City have been spending an average of $256 per night to house illegal aliens in The Row, a 1,331-room luxury hotel in Manhattan, as well as roughly 140 other properties across the five boroughs. It’s a similar story in Chicago and other large sanctuary cities. A local New York news outlet found that The Row wastes tons of fresh, edible food meant for migrants by throwing it in the trash daily. If fiscal responsibility is the goal, it doesn’t take an economics degree to recognize that ICE detention is the more cost-effective option. As it has done for years when arguing against border security, the media continues to highlight the most sympathetic individuals here illegally, portraying them as victims of a heartless, xenophobic policy. “60 Minutes” followed this familiar script, featuring a crying woman in Baltimore expressing fear that her family members might be deported. The report conveniently ignored the most sympathetic victims of illegal immigration: angel families, whose loved ones were killed by violent criminals, drunk drivers, or others who never should have been in the country. Why didn’t the story include families of victims like Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley, or Rachel Morin? And why no mention of the 325,000 migrant children the Biden administration has lost track of, many of whom face risks of sex trafficking and forced labor? The answer is obvious: “60 Minutes” sought not to provide an objective examination of a complex issue but to deliver propaganda designed to sway public opinion against the Trump administration’s forthcoming enforcement of immigration laws.As with so many other issues, the corporate media aims to convince you to ignore the reality you observe daily and instead accept the ideologically driven, manufactured narrative it presents. The recent election results show the old media strategy is failing harder than ever.

WATCH: Touching moment as wounded vet and family see new home donated by Gary Sinise Foundation

When a wounded Army Ranger received a well-deserved thank you for his service last week, there wasn't a dry eye in the house — literally. Emotional footage shows the moment retired U.S. Army Sergeant Joshua Hargis and his family first step into their brand new, mortgage-free home in Nolensville, Tennessee — a gift from the Gary Sinise Foundation. 'There is not another man like him that I would trust my life with.'"This is insane," says one of two young sons Hargis shares with wife Taylor before breaking down in tears.Hargis, who served as K-9 handler with the 75th Ranger Regiment, describes seeing the house for the first time as "absolutely overwhelming." During Hargis' fourth deployment in Afghanistan, his team was ambushed while conducting routine operations. Four members of his unit were killed along with his K-9 companion, Jany. Hargis lost both his legs while running into danger to assist a fellow Ranger in a minefield.“During a night raid, we were drawn into an area that was littered with buried IED's (improvised explosive devices), and our targets had donned explosive vests that were concealed under their clothing,” Hargis explains. Hargis had learned that his wife was pregnant with their first child just a week before. After his life-changing injuries, his joy at becoming a father turned to apprehension.“I was so intent on getting back to my wife and unborn child, but I was afraid of facing my wife in broken form," Hargis said. That apprehension vanished the moment they were reunited. "My fears and insecurities were washed away when she raced to be by my side as the ambulance doors opened. There was never a moment that she wasn’t by my side fighting for me when I couldn’t.”Hargis' friend, U.S. Army Ranger Spencer Cox, says he wasn't surprised by his fellow Ranger's courage. "That’s the kind of person Joshua is. He is the most selfless individual I have ever had the privilege of working with."His tireless work ethic, spirit, soul, and love for his family are truly remarkable," Cox continued. "There is not another man like him that I would trust my life with. I know that Joshua can manage and succeed in any environment, no matter what is thrown at him."The family's new, custom-built residence will provide a more accessible environment for the Purple Heart recipient than their previous split-level home. Hargis says the added independence the house affords him will make him a better husband and father. "For our family it means so much more, it’s mental, it’s emotional, it’s freedom to be able to interact as a family a little bit better. All of the small details in that house that are going to make not only my day to day easier, but my wife’s day to day easier raising two boys, it’s a huge blessing."The Gary Sinise Foundation teamed up with a number of partners to construct the home, among them Sunbelt Rentals, Owens Corning, Kaishan Compressor USA, and LP Building Solutions for Professionals.“We want them to know we never forget,” says actor and musician Sinise, who started the foundation in 2011 to help veterans, first responders, and their families. “I’m a grateful American and I want them to know it, and I want to be somebody who can rally support from around the country.”You can watch the touching video of the Hargis family seeing their new home for the first time here.Like Blaze News? Will Lara Trump replace Marco Rubio in the Senate? This is what she told Liz Wheeler

Now that Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla has been chosen as Trump’s secretary of state, his Senate seat is open. Governor DeSantis is charged with appointing his replacement. One of the names that has been floated to fill Rubio’s seat is Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump. Today, Lara joined Liz Wheeler, host of “The Liz Wheeler Show,” to discuss the possibility. “Is this going to happen? Do you want to be the next senator of Florida?” Liz asked. “Obviously, this is up to Governor Ron DeSantis, and we’ll see who he ultimately feels is the right fit for the seat, but look – they’re big shoes to fill, obviously. Marco Rubio has held this Senate seat for a long time, and he really has the trust of the people of the state of Florida,” Lara responded, praising DeSantis for turning Florida from a swing state into a reliably red state. “Now whether or not he wants me to be appointed to this position, obviously that's his decision to make, but here's what I can tell you: It has really been an honor to serve in the capacity that I have as co-chair of the RNC,” she told Liz. “If I am asked to serve as the next senator from the state of Florida, it would truly be an honor. I have yet to be asked that, and we'll see what happens, but it would be something that I would absolutely consider doing,” she added. “So you would say yes if Governor DeSantis said, ‘Do you want to be the next Senator from the state of Florida?”’ Liz asked. “I would say yes,” she confirmed. To hear more of their conversation, including about President Donald J. Trump's transition efforts and how the RNC enacted election integrity in Pennsylvania and beyond, watch the episode above. Nate Silver calls for Biden to resign and let Kamala Harris take over after his appearance in Amazon rainforest

Polling analyst Nate Silver joined the chorus of voices calling on President Joe Biden to resign after seeing the president's public appearance in the Amazon rainforest. Silver said that the president's refusal to take questions from the media at a precarious time in global affairs was just another reason to believe he is not mentally equipped to handle the immense pressure of the Oval Office. 'It's a very difficult job. It's a dangerous world. Extremely high-stakes decisions in Ukraine. He should resign and let Harris serve out the last 2 months.' Democrats have been floating the idea that Biden should hand over the reigns of the executive branch to Vice President Kamala Harris in order to make history and also spoil Trump's merchandising profits. "Is there any particular reason to assume Biden is competent to be president right now? It's a very difficult job. It's a dangerous world," wrote Silver on social media Wednesday. "Extremely high-stakes decisions in Ukraine. He should resign and let Harris serve out the last 2 months."Silver referenced a Washington Post report describing the lengths to which journalists tried to get the president to take questions while he visited Brazil and Peru for a Group of 20 summit. "President Joe Biden was in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, unprotected from mosquitoes, fire ants and loud, squawking macaws. But there was another pest he did manage to avoid: the pack of reporters traveling with him," read the Post report. "During a six-day foreign trip to Peru and Brazil that wrapped up Monday, the president rarely spoke in public, answering almost no questions despite repeated efforts to engage him," the report continued. "One television producer took to writing messages on a large pad of paper, holding it up as Biden boarded and departed Air Force One."Biden's aides have tried to ignore criticism and make it appear that everything is normal, but scrutiny on the president has grown as Democrats publicly blame him for their astounding losses and question his decisions. “History is watching us,” said Biden during the trip. “I urge us to keep the faith and keep going.”Like Blaze News?
