Ukraine’s military fired several long-range American missiles into Russia this week on the 1,000th day of the war, marking the first time it has done so since Russia invaded back in early 2022. Six American-made ATACMS missiles were used in the pre-dawn attack that struck an ammunition depot in Russia’s Bryansk region. Russia claimed it shot down five of the six missiles, but that information had not been independently verified. The attack came just a couple of days after President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use America-made missiles for strikes inside Russia after resisting Ukraine’s requests to do so for many months. Some analysts were concerned that the strikes represented an escalation in the war, while others believed that the strikes strengthened Ukraine’s negotiating position ahead of President-elect Donald Trump coming back into office. Trump has pledged to force a quick end to the war. The New York Times reported that the event that changed Biden’s mind about Ukraine being able to use the missiles was North Korea sending thousands of soldiers into Ukraine to fight for the Russians. A Ukrainian official said the strike hit warehouses containing “artillery ammunition, including North Korean ammunition for their systems.” On the same day as the strike, Russian President Vladimir Putin lowered his country’s threshold for using nuclear weapons — a move that had been anticipated since at least September when it was first announced. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ The new doctrine states: “Aggression against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies by any nonnuclear state with the participation or support of a nuclear state is considered as their joint attack.” The White House National Security Council was not surprised by Putin lowering the country’s threshold for using nuclear weapons, according to Fox News. “Observing no changes to Russia’s nuclear posture, we have not seen any reason to adjust our own nuclear posture or doctrine in response to Russia’s statements today,” an NSC spokesperson said. “This is more of the same irresponsible rhetoric from Russia, which we have seen for the past two years.” “As we said to Russia weeks ago, Russia’s use of DPRK soldiers in combat operations against Ukraine presents a significant escalation of its war of choice against Ukraine and we warned that the United States would respond,” the spokesperson added. “I won’t get into the details of that response today.”

The prosecution in the trial of Daniel Penny rested its case on Monday after New York medical examiner Dr. Cynthia Harris testified for the third day. Harris testified under cross-examination that it was “possible” that Jordan Neely, who died after Penny put him in a chokehold, actually died due to his sickle cell trait, Fox News reported. But, she said, that was not probable. She then told the prosecution under re-direct questioning that if Neely had died from his sickle cell trait, he would have died hours or days later. She added that she believed Neely would have died from asphyxiation whether he had sickle cell trait or not. On Friday, Harris mentioned that another medical examiner “reviews all homicide reports,” a comment that had to be stricken from the record since Penny has not been charged with a capital crime. Penny, a 26-year-old Marine veteran, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter or up to 4 years if he’s convicted on the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide in Neely’s death. Penny’s defense team also questioned Harris on Friday about the drugs found in Neely’s system, The Daily Wire reported. After viewing video of Penny restraining Neely in a chokehold and appearing unresponsive, Harris made her determination about the cause of death – without waiting for the toxicology report. Harris told the defense that even if Neely had enough fentanyl in his system to take out an elephant, she still would have ruled that he died from asphyxiation. The defense, however, was able to get her to agree that medical examiners can disagree on the cause of death and that it’s not a perfect science. MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ After the prosecution rested, the defense began to put on its case, calling Penny’s sister and childhood friend to the stand, the New York Post reported. “People always spoke so highly of him,” said Alexandra Fay, who grew up on the same block as Penny in West Islip. “He was so kind. If anything he was extra kind … He always spoke up,” she added. Penny’s older sister Jacqueline described her brother as “smart” and “focused,” who played lacrosse and “likes to surf as a hobby.” “We had similar friends, similar friend groups, hung out with similar people,” she testified. “He was always very sweet to my friends and I was friendly with his friends as well,” she added. Multiple witnesses have testified that they were afraid of Neely, who entered the subway train car and allegedly began ranting that someone was going to die and he didn’t care if he went back to jail. These witnesses have said they feared for their lives, with some even thanking Penny for stepping in, The Daily Wire reported.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has reportedly said that trans-identifying men will not be allowed to use the women’s restrooms in the U.S. Capitol. Johnson made the announcement to the GOP conference on Tuesday, POLITICO reported. “He said there’s not going to be any biological men using our restrooms,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told the outlet. “It’s pretty aggressive for biological men to be invading our spaces,” Greene said. Speaker Mike Johnson told the GOP conference today that transgender women won’t be allowed to use the women’s bathrooms in the Capitol, per two sources. It comes as Rep. Mace’s bill would prohibit House members and staffers from “using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex” in the Capitol and House office buildings. Democrats accused Mace of “bullying” the member of Congress-elect. “This is not just bigotry, this is just plain bullying,” Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said. Speaker Johnson said at a press conference on Tuesday that there were concerns about trans-identifying men using restrooms and noted that “Congress has never had to address before.” Gender ideology loomed large over the presidential election this year.
