Processed food gets a bad rap. But without it, we might have never been able to even say the word “food.” Or “friendly,” or “fun” or “velociraptor” for that matter. Why is that? “F’s” and “v’s” belong to a group of sounds known as labiodentals. They happen when you raise your bottom lip to touch your top teeth and are used in more than half of today’s human language. But science suggests we didn’t always have this linguistic ability. As hunter gatherers, our ancestors ate a diet that was minimally processed and required more effort to chew. As a result, by adolescence their teeth would develop what’s called an edge-to-edge bite, where the jaw is elongated so that both the bottom and top teeth are completely flush with one another. Cue the Neolithic period, where widespread agriculture meant more soft foods like stew and bread and less laborious chewing. Over time, the slight overbite that most people are born with stayed preserved, because chewing was less of an arduous process.This also made labiodentals easier to produce, as indicated by a 2019 study published in Science magazine. You can catch the video below:Researchers created two models—one of an edge-to-edge bite and the other of an overbite—to see which version was better for articulating labiodentals. The models clearly showed that the edge-to-edge bite required far more effort. Try to align your bottom and top teeth right now and say “fuh” or “vuh.” Not easy, is it? The study offered the compelling argument that without the introduction to farming and softer foods, humans might have never incorporated labiodentals into their vocabulary. Even today, modern language used by hunter-gatherer groups use only one-fourth as many labiodental sounds as other languages affected by agriculture. While the study was met with criticism, its findings offer an unprecedented concept: that our language is shaped not only by cultural and intellectual factors, but also by biological conditions. This suddenly got VERY interesting! Let me bring you up to speed…. As we all probably know, one of the first people to be targeted by “Lawfare” even before President Trump was Alex Jones.  He was the test ground. They nailed him for something like $1.5 billion fo the Sandy Hook thing, and I won’t even get into all of that right now. But with a $1.5 billion judgment hanging over him, that led to an attempt to seize all his assets, the most notable being his Info Wars show. It was recently reported that The Onion bought Info Wars at an auction, but then something funny happened. The judge instituted a block and reversed the sale, at least temporarily while the sale was reviewed to see if it was improper. The new owners of satirical news site The Onion had been declared the successful bidders for Jones’ controversial platform, alongside families of the Sandy Hook massacre victims. But this week, the Texas bankruptcy judge overhearing the case voiced concerns about the transparency of the auction process and called for a new hearing to discuss those potential issues. “Nobody should feel comfortable with the results of the auction,” Judge Christopher M. Lopez said, according to a Bloomberg News report. The X Corp. filing, dated Nov. 14 and first reported by Mother Jones, does not disclose the purpose of X’s appearance, other than to state the rights reserved to it as an interested party, and to request all relevant documents in the case. Attorneys for X listed in the filing did not respond to a request for comment. A lawyer representing The Onion also did not respond to a request for comment. Both Musk and Jones are known allies of President-elect Donald Trump. Musk has allowed Infowars to broadcast on X while Infowars’ fate is in limbo. Jones has used Infowars as a platform to promote conspiracy theories, far-right ideologies and misinformation. He often focuses on events and social issues to sell related products like supplements and survival gear. Jones’ bankruptcy stems from his obligation to pay $1.5 billion in damages to families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims, who filed defamation lawsuits over his false claims that the massacre was a hoax. He broadcast the conspiracy theory on his platform, which led to years of harassment and threats against the grieving families. U.S. Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) said this week that removing woke DEI initiatives from the U.S. military is a “politicizing” move. Slotkin made the remarks during a Sunday interview on ABC News’ “This Week” with co-host Martha Raddatz when asked about President-elect Donald Trump’s tapping Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense. “Hegseth has also said that any general that was involved in any of the DEI woke crap has got to go,” Raddatz said. “Do you expect Donald Trump to fire top generals who he considers woke or those close to former Chairman Mark Milley?” Slotkin responded: “Yeah, I don’t think you have to interpret anything. I think they’ve been very clear that they’re putting together some sort of panel that’s going to look at generals, people who have served their nation the — their entire lives over multiple administrations Democrat and Republican in combat, they are now openly talking about dismissing them like some sort of kangaroo court.” “You can imagine the stress in the Pentagon about that, but also on the future of who we are as a military, right?” she continued. “Our military and the role of the military is in the Constitution for a reason and I think we’re really at risk of politicizing the military in a way that we can’t put the genie back in the bottle.” When Raddatz noted that the military has had issues with recruiting, Slotkin suggested that removing woke initiatives from the military would not have much of an impact on recruiting numbers.
