House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) ordered the outgoing Biden-Harris administration to preserve documents related to its censorship collusion with Big Tech, among other ominous federal activities. Johnson and a group of GOP lawmakers wrote to Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su on Nov. 12, cautioning against any coverup of the current administration’s potentially illegal actions. Johnson touched on the Department of Labor’s alleged effort “to suppress free speech.” MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider spoke highly of Johnson’s defense of free speech before it was announced that he had been elected Speaker of the House again today. Johnson’s letter directed at the Biden-Harris administration is yet more evidence to back up that point. “No Speaker in American history has fought harder to defend the First Amendment and free speech rights than @SpeakerJohnson,” wrote Schneider in an X post Nov. 12. “I hope he is re-elected. He would be an excellent partner with Pres Trump.” Johnson began the brief but pointed letter, co-signed by 255 other lawmakers, by writing, “As we begin preparation for a new Trump Administration and new Congress, we fully expect your cooperation in a smooth transition of power. To that end, it is imperative that during the transition you comply with all statutory record retention requirements, including but not limited to the Federal Records Act.” The federal agency must preserve the documents, Johnson added.  The speaker highlighted the previous congressional committees’ oversight on issues they will continue to investigate, including “the Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous border policies, tragic Afghanistan withdrawal, collusion with social media companies to suppress free speech, and weaponization of federal agencies against its political opponents, as well as the antisemitism at our nation’s universities enabled by leading Democrats.” Indeed, before Johnson’s letter was issued, the Twitter Files, the Facebook Files and the landmark Murthy v. Missouri lawsuit all revealed evidence indicating the Biden administration coordinated with and pressured Big Tech to crush Americans’ free speech. On her Wednesday show, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell spread misinformation by suggesting Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth opposes the existence of female military pilots, thereby disrespecting those women who have suffered greatly in service to their country. On Thursday, instead of issuing a correction, Mitchell doubled down and repeated the claim. Speaking with former NATO commander and retired Admiral James Stavridis, Mitchell declared, “So, one of the things that they call woke is women, Donald Trump hasn't, but certainly Pete Hegseth has, women in combat, I referenced earlier, I was thinking earlier of, you know, Tammy Duckworth, the senator from Illinois who suffered so grievously after serving in Iraq, the women pilots, women have contributed a lot to this to this military.”     Earlier in their conversation, Stavridis was level-headed enough to praise Hegseth’s service and skills as a communicator, claiming “that is a significant part of the role of Secretary of Defense.” Unfortunately, Stavridis didn’t push back this time, “Enormously, and just two weeks ago in the Navy, we lost two young naval aviators, flying one of our most advanced jets, F/A-18 Growler, we call it, they were lost in those kind of high-intensity operations.” Not only did Stavridis not correct the record, he then threw in another suggestion that has no basis in fact, “I have served as captain of a ship that had about 20 percent of my crew were women, it was an exceptional combat ship, Andrea, and it also won the Battenberg Cup as the top ship in the Atlantic Fleet, couldn't have done it without the women who were part of the crew.” Stavridis comes from a world where everyone aboard a ship is equally vulnerable during combat, but there is nothing to suggest that Hegseth would remove women from sea duty because he was talking about roles “where strength is a differentiator.” As for Mitchell’s second round of fake news about pilots, it was true on Wednesday, and it was still true on Thursday that Hegseth has explicitly said, “Gimme a female pilot all day long. I have no issues with that.” This bit of fake news has appeared elsewhere, with CNN's Kaitlan Collins bringing on Duckworth herself to shame Hegseth based on a complete strawman, "you're also someone whose helicopter was hit by an RPG. Blaze News this week has reported on several high school teachers landing in hot water due to their outbursts following Donald Trump's lopsided presidential election win over Kamala Harris.Two of the teachers are from Southern California schools — and both were placed on administrative leave over their actions the day after the election. One is an English teacher from Chino High School who freaked out in class over a student wearing a Trump hat; the other is an Advanced Placement world history teacher from Valley View High School in Moreno Valley who went on a profane rant in class against Trump.'If the [teacher] is exercising a First Amendment right, they risk losing their job. It's pretty straightforward.'Now it looks like there may be a third Southern California high school teacher making the list.Citing a parent, KABC-TV reported that a teacher departed from class at Cerritos High School last week because a student was wearing "Make America Great Again" attire. "It was just a student wearing a shirt, probably for some jokes," fellow student Sakura Padilla told the station.But KABC said the teacher apparently wasn't in a laughing mood and allegedly posted a long note to her students saying it's unfair that they can wear political clothing while teachers cannot.The school district noted that it's investigating the teacher's actions, but according to the station, it isn't clear whether the teacher has returned.The district added to KABC that students can exercise free speech within the parameters of school board and state Education Code policies. "It's different with teachers because the teachers are the ones who are there to do a job," attorney Michael Overing — who teaches First Amendment rights at the University of Southern California — told the station.Courts have ruled that students have more free speech leeway because they're required to attend school — but Overing noted to WABC that teachers choose to work at schools and are subject to district rules. In Donald Trump’s bombshell interview on "The Joe Rogan Experience," the president-elect floated the idea of abolishing the income tax as well as raising tariffs. While Glenn Beck has historically been against heavy tariffs, Trump may have won “The Glenn Beck Program” host over with his explanation. “I’ve always been against tariffs; however, I might be wrong,” Glenn says. “Donald Trump is making a good case when he’s talking about getting rid of the income tax because tariffs will raise the prices of things, especially if he does it the way he’s talking about doing it.” However, if Trump lowers the income tax simultaneously, the economy would boom. “We could make up that deficit and become a very powerful nation again. Tell me I’m wrong,” Glenn challenges economic expert and Heritage Foundation visiting fellow Peter St Onge. “That’s absolutely correct,” St Onge replies. “The vast majority of economists go after tariffs, they attack Trump over tariffs, and I think they are looking at the trees for the forest here.” “If you replace a tariff, which is basically a sales tax, but it’s one that focuses on imported goods, if you replace that with either reducing or, in our dream scenario, abolishing the entire income tax, it is absolutely rocket fuel for the economy,” he explains, noting that Trump’s plan is reminiscent of the 1800s. “That was before we had an income tax, was also before we had a Fed, and back then, the federal government had to live off tariffs,” St Onge says. “That was the greatest period not only of economic growth but of cultural achievement.” “It was really the golden age of humanity, and the key there was that we did not have an income tax, we did not have a regulatory state, we did not have a Fed. So if Trump can take us back there, and all we have to do is like an 8% sales tax on Chinese stocks, that is the deal of the century,” he adds.
