President Trump Secures Victory In Nevada GOP Caucus

President Trump secured an easy victory in Thursday night’s Nevada GOP caucus. Nikki Haley bowed out of the race‚ making Trump the only major candidate to compete. As a result‚ Trump had 99.1% of the vote and secured all 26 delegates. I almost forgot! President Trump won the Nevada presidential caucus yesterday! pic.twitter.com/QQ2ldLxDNv — Vince Langman (@LangmanVince) February 9‚ 2024 Trump wins Nevada GOP caucus https://t.co/epSWBfrqy2 — Jason Miller (@JasonMillerinDC) February 9‚ 2024 Fox News reports: The call on Thursday night came quickly after caucus precincts from across the Silver State began reporting results. The former president‚ who’s the commanding front-runner for the 2024 nomination as he bids a third straight time for the White House‚ was the only major candidate on the ballot in a caucus run by the Nevada GOP. And he grabbed all 26 delegates to this summer’s nominating convention were at stake in the caucus. Trump’s win in Nevada came hours after he grabbed roughly three-quarters of the vote for a landside victory in a presidential caucus run the the U.S. Virgin Islands GOP. The former president also came up a winner on Tuesday‚ in Nevada’s state-run Republican presidential primary‚ even though he wasn’t on the ballot. Although Trump wasn’t on the ballot in the meaningless Nevada GOP primary‚ Nikki Haley lost to “none of these candidates.” ‘None Of These Candidates’ Defeats Nikki Haley In GOP Nevada Primary Trump congratulated "None of the Above" for winning the primary: NOW- Moments ago President Trump addressed supporters in Las Vegas after winning the Nevada GOP Caucus. He took the opportunity poke fun at Nikki Haley's embarrassing loss the previous night; "I'd like to congratulate 'None of the Above!'" pic.twitter.com/Q565eyEuuj — Overton (@OvertonLive) February 9‚ 2024 From the Associated Press: Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley‚ his last major rival still in the race‚ skipped the caucuses even though they are the only contest in Nevada that counts toward the GOP nomination. Haley cited what she considered an unfair process favoring Trump and instead ran in Nevada’s symbolic state-run presidential primary on Tuesday‚ when she finished behind the “none of these candidates” option. Trump will win most‚ if not all‚ of the state’s 26 delegates. He needs to accrue 1‚215 delegates to formally clinch the party’s nomination and could reach that number in March. From Nevada‚ the GOP contest pivots to the South Carolina primary in Haley’s home state on Feb. 24. Trump remains popular in the deeply conservative state but Haley‚ who won two elections as South Carolina’s governor‚ is hoping her local roots give her an edge. Trump is eyeing a massive delegate haul during the March 5 Super Tuesday contests‚ which would move him closer to becoming the GOP’s presumptive nominee. Trump‚ delivering a brief victory speech in Las Vegas‚ basked in reports of long lines in the Western state and told his supporters he was eager to declare victory in the upcoming South Carolina primary. “We’re leading everybody‚” he said. “Is there any way we can call the election for next Tuesday? That’s all I want.” President Trump also notched a victory Thursday night in the U.S. Virgin Islands GOP caucus. President Trump Dominates U.S. Virgin Islands GOP Caucus

FEISTY: Biden’s Sundowner Moment | Steve Berman

You know when you hit a sensitive spot. For Trump‚ it was the size of his…hands. For Biden‚ it’s when the New York Times reports “In a hurriedly arranged nighttime televised appearance at the White House‚ a defiant Mr. Biden offered a feisty defense of his actions and his capacity to run the country.” (Emphasis mine.) He’s feisty. If you’ve dealt with elderly people‚ especially Alzheimer’s patients‚ you know the term “sundowner.” I’ll quote from our government: Late afternoon and early evening can be difficult for some people with Alzheimer’s disease. They may experience sundowning—restlessness‚ agitation‚ irritability‚ or confusion that can begin or worsen as daylight begins to fade—often just when tired caregivers need a break. “Tips for Coping With Sundowning” – National Institute on Aging Fox News: “I’m well-meaning‚ and I’m an elderly man and I know what the hell I’m doing‚” Biden said. “I’ve been president. I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation.” Biden could not get worked up like this trying to pass a border bill‚ or aid for Ukraine. Mention his age‚ or his memory‚ and he’s all feisty. This is the kind of moment that sticks with people. You’d think that a special counsel not charging President Biden for willfully retaining and disclosing classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen (paraphrasing Robert Hur’s report) would be good news. Instead‚ Hur’s brutal reason why Biden should not be charged is much worse than any court could deal out. In his interview with our office‚ Mr. Biden’s memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president‚ forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (“if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?”)‚ and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (“in 2009‚ am I still Vice President?”). He did not remember‚ even within several years‚ when his son Beau died. And his memory appeared hazy when describing the Afghanistan debate that was once so important to him. Among other things‚ he mistakenly said he “had a real difference” of opinion with General Karl Eikenberry‚ when‚ in fact‚ Eikenberry was an ally whom Mr. Eiden cited approvingly in his Thanksgiving memo to President Obama. In a case where the government must prove that Mr. Biden knew he had possession of the classified Afghanistan documents after the vice presidency and chose to keep those documents‚ knowing he was violating the law‚ we expect that at trial‚ his attorneys would emphasize these limitations in his recall. The Democrats have a president who should be considered for a 25th Amendment determination of incapacity. Either Robert Hur’s version of Biden’s interview is a fabrication in which case‚ Biden meant to keep classified files at his house‚ something Trump is currently charged with doing; or he’s incapable of standing trial because his lawyers can “emphasize these limitation” regarding Biden’s mental lapses. If Hur is right‚ the image of an aging‚ addled Biden will haunt the campaign all the way to the polls in November. If Hur is making it up‚ then Trump can claim he’s been railroaded by a weaponized government set to take him down by any means. The sane path would be for Biden to withdraw and support someone who could win in November and who isn’t Donald Trump. But who? Robert F. Kennedy‚ Jr.? God‚ please‚ no. Things are much‚ much worse than I thought. I believed that we had two bad candidates‚ one I will never vote for‚ and the other merely distasteful. And maybe that’s how it really is? But I have a hard time believing that version right now. If it didn’t really matter—if nothing was going wrong and we were merely concerned with our retirement funds earning 5% or 10%—sure‚ let Biden sit for another four years. But it does matter. The southern border and the fate of millions of illegal aliens; the fate of Ukraine‚ and the ascendency of Russia; the Middle East exploding into genocide; the fate of Taiwan and the brutality of China; and the public debt of this country and our ability to repay it—these are just some of the issues whoever is running the government has to deal with in the next four years.  A guy who can’t remember when he was and was not vice president is not able to do it. A guy who has a moral center the size of a ragworm’s brain can’t be trusted to wield any amount of government power. Neither of these guys is likely to be knocked off their collision course toward November. Right now feels like when‚ for a brief time at the turn of the 20th century‚ crashing two steam locomotives head-on was a spectator event. Except instead of locomotives‚ we have two wheelchairs and two feisty old men‚ neither of whom should be running our government. I think Biden had his sundowner moment. 80s Decor in the Modern Age

Decorating our modern‚ high-tech homes with 80s decor does not have to be an eyesore‚ instead we can create crafty and unique ensembles with little expense and without distraction. Although the market is saturated with retro themed merchandise from themed wallpaper‚ tabletop accents‚ to photographs and custom electronics‚ we possess the ability to decorate our homes through thrifty scavenger hunts within our parent’s homes or in the local thrift‚ second-hand‚ and even used furniture stores.  A large market is also readily available as well A fair amount of GenX'rs who lived through our era‚ tend to think of auburn and brown hued furniture‚ walls‚ and flooring. Wicker furniture‚ television carts‚ brass and glass shelving also tend to mentally surface in the living room while our kitchens yielded multiple colors of countertops‚ appliances‚ and table sets sometimes non-matching.  However‚ 80s decor in the 21st century doesn't have to be distracting‚ rather it can accent your lifestyle and your abode.  One of the simplest ideas can be old dressers and converting them into entertainment centers that can either seclude the multiple systems and cables‚ using the drawer space and converting the front panel to hinged panels instead of pull drawers‚ or proudly display the various gaming systems and welcome your gaming family and friends by removing the drawers altogether; simply sand and paint to your room's taste.  2 tier and octagonal end tables were plentiful and can be modernized with a bit of sanding and fresh paint to utilize them in the home office as a way to organize your smartphone and accessories‚ display books‚ or as intended to add tabletop lights or potted plants. Kitchen tables and chairs can be turned into wall side seating or tabletop gaming centers and even cleverly disguised with tablecloths.  Wicker furniture and floral cushions need not be distracting‚ rather complimenting with brighter flooring.  Classic furniture can still flatter your dwelling either as it is‚ slipping a new cover over top‚ or reupholstering with newer fabrics to enhance your space.  Older appliances can be modernized with a little effort by taking the time to sand the outer shell and painting it with appliance paint or have fun and paint it with chalkboard paint so that your children‚ or your inner child‚ can write and decorate it yourself. Be crafty and inventive with your ideas as well.  Use old‚ well-read comic books or even the newspaper comics to create a unique decoupage tabletop or inner lining display to your furniture‚ much like Jason's earlier DIY article.  Add texture using plastic wrap and paint‚ giving your furniture a leather look.  Change out the pull handle hardware with 1980s merchandise‚ such as mini-Rubik’s cubes‚ mini-game controllers‚ army men‚ etc.‚ either by drilling out the item and adding threads or gluing the item atop of the pull handle.  If your home has a game room‚ spare set up time while incorporating the games as décor atop of an old kitchen table.  Use your favorite board games (e.g. PayDay‚ Monopoly‚ Sorry‚ Chutes and Ladders‚ etc) and lay them all on top of the table and add a glass top overlayIf new is more your style‚ several products are readily available to customize your modern living.  Retro patterned cushions and furniture‚ neon signs‚ prints‚ stickers‚ retro toy collectibles (e.g. updated figures‚ toys‚ etc.) and even selecting wall colors that accentuate your home with reflections of the 1980s yet not overwhelming to the eye.  Your mind is the only limitation when it comes to incorporating the retro decor in your 21st century home. For more ideas or additional information‚ please consider reading this article Bringing the ‘80s Back to the Future: 9 Modern ‘80s Design Tips from the Pros

‘Garbage’: Joe Scarborough Mocks Special Counsel Report That Implies Biden’s Mental Faculties Diminishing

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough mocked Justice Department special counsel Robert Hur’s report on the investigation into President Biden’s alleged unauthorized removal‚ retention‚ and disclosure of classified documents for its implication that Biden’s mental faculties were diminishing. Although the report concluded that Biden‚ as vice president‚ “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen‚” it stated that “no criminal charges were warranted in this matter … the evidence does not establish Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.” What seemingly prompted Scarborough’s response to the report were passages like the following that indicated Biden’s mental faculties were diminishing: Mr. Biden’s memory was significantly limited‚ both during his recorded interviews with the ghostwriter in 2017‚ and in his interview with our office in 2023. … Given Mr. Biden’s limited precision and recall during his interviews with his ghostwriter and with our office‚ jurors may hesitate to place too much evidentiary weight on a single eight-word utterance to his ghostwriter about finding classified documents in Virginia‚ in the absence of other‚ more direct evidence. We have also considered that‚ at trial‚ Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury‚ as he did during our interview of him‚ as a sympathetic‚ well-meaning‚ elderly man with a poor memory. Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him‚ he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him-by then a former president well into his eighties-of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness. “A neurologist and a lawyer‚” Scarborough — whom Axios reported earlier this month gets frequent calls from Biden for his “take on issues” — said mockingly. “We kinda need to stop there. A neurologist and a lawyer … from Trump University. I’ve gotta stop right here. I know we wanna go on and finish this report but I’ve just gotta start. … So bizarre‚ and there’s so many people that immediately heard these random conclusions‚ irrelevant conclusions‚ politically charged‚ Trump-like ramblings‚ who‚ first of all‚ wondered why in the world he would put that in the report — his neurological assessment of Joe Biden‚ and secondly‚ why (Attorney General) Merrick Garland would release garbage like that in the Justice Department report.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP He turned to Ken Dilanian‚ the justice and intelligence correspondent for NBC News‚ asking‚ “Can you give us any insight? Cause it sure sounds like James Comey in 2016‚ who [in] July couldn’t indict Hillary Clinton legally so he decided to hold a press conference and indict her politically.” MSNBC's @JoeNBC attacks the special counsel for discussing Biden's impaired mental faculties: "A neurologist and a lawyer? … There were so many people who immediately heard these random conclusions‚ irrelevant conclusions‚ politically charged‚ Trump-like ramblings … " pic.twitter.com/JKB8AhqzOK — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) February 9‚ 2024

Hawaii Supreme Court Bucks SCOTUS‚ Says ‘Spirit Of Aloha Clashes’ With 2nd Amendment Right

Hawaii’s top court unanimously ruled on Wednesday that “the spirit of Aloha” supersedes the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Americans’ Second Amendment rights. In the Hawaii Supreme Court’s decision in State v. Wilson‚ Justice Todd Eddins wrote that states “retain the authority to require” people to attain permits before they carry a firearm in public. The decision penned by Justice Eddins added that while the Hawaii Constitution “mirrors” the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution‚ “We read those words differently than the current United States Supreme Court‚” adding‚ “We hold that in Hawaii there is no state constitutional right to carry a firearm in public.” “The spirit of Aloha clashes with a federally-mandated lifestyle that lets citizens walk around with deadly weapons during day-to-day activities‚” the opinion continues. “The history of the Hawaiian Islands does not include a society where armed people move about the community to possibly combat the deadly aims of others.” State v. Wilson stems from December 2017 when Hawaiian Christopher Wilson was arrested and charged with improperly carrying a firearm and ammunition‚ according to Fox News. Wilson’s weapon was unregistered in Hawaii‚ and he reportedly told officers that he purchased the gun in Florida four years earlier. He said that he was carrying the gun for protection while he hiked in West Maui. Wilson argued that prosecuting him for carrying a firearm for self-defense violated his Second Amendment right to bear arms. In 2008‚ the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed the right to “keep and bear arms” in D.C. v. Heller. Again‚ in 2022‚ the high court ruled in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” extends beyond protecting yourself at home. In its Wednesday decision‚ however‚ the Hawaii Supreme Court argues that the precedent set by the U.S. Supreme Court‚ upholding Americans’ Second Amendment right to defend themselves with firearms outside the home‚ is an outdated application of the Constitution. The ruling reversed a lower-court decision that found Wilson’s rights were violated by the charges leveled against him‚ The Reload reported. “We believe it is a misplaced view to think that today’s public safety laws must look like laws passed long ago. Smoothbore‚ muzzle-loaded‚ and powder-and-ramrod muskets were not exactly useful to colonial era mass murderers. And life is a bit different now‚ in a nation with a lot more people‚ stretching to islands in the Pacific Ocean‚” the justices concluded‚ adding “As the world turns‚ it makes no sense for contemporary society to pledge allegiance to the founding era’s culture‚ realities‚ laws‚ and understanding of the Constitution.” The opinion then goes on to quote a line from the HBO TV series “The Wire” with Eddins writing‚ “The thing about the old days‚ they the old days.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Attorney and George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley commented on the Hawaii Supreme Court’s decision‚ writing‚ “Hawaii apparently is controlled not by the precedent of the Supreme Court but the ‘spirit of Aloha.’ While Queen LiliÊ»uokalani would be pleased‚ the justices on that ‘other’ Supreme Court may view such claims as more secessional than spiritual.” Turley added that while the language in the state Supreme Court’s decision is strong‚ “The hyperbole of the decision does not mean that the Hawaii Supreme Court is prepared to defy the United States Supreme Court.” “Indeed‚ other states are pushing their own bars on gun possession in public areas without such rhetoric‚” he said.
