New York Mayor Optimistic About Trump’s Immigration Policy

THE CENTER SQUARE—New York City Mayor Eric Adams is expressing optimism that President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration will help fix the nation’s broken immigration system and criticizing fellow Democrats for overlooking the issue of immigration ahead of last Tuesday’s election.  Speaking to reporters at a Tuesday briefing, Adams said he is optimistic about the incoming Trump administration’s pledges to secure the southern border to curb an ongoing influx of asylum-seekers who have overwhelmed the Big Apple and other U.S. cities in the past two years. “I am willing to sit down with this administration like I tried to sit down with the previous administration,” Adams said in remarks. “I’m hoping this administration will hear what I’m saying and listen to some of the ideas that I have been pushing for close to two years now.” Adams, a Democrat, has been among the most vocal members of his party to criticize the Biden administration’s immigration policy. He said he has been to Washington, D.C., at least 10 times seeking additional funding and federal support but has come back empty-handed. “We can’t keep kicking the can, not down the road, but to cities,” he said on Tuesday. “Our immigration system is a failure and in fact it’s an embarrassment and we have to do a better job.”  Adams also ripped into fellow Democrats for not listening to voters about the issue of immigration, which he said helped Trump and Republicans make historic gains in the election. “This far-left agenda that I’ve been talking about for a long time where we’re not focusing on working-class people,” he said. “Some of the things you talk about are not what working-class people are talking about.”  To be sure, Adams said he doesn’t support Trump’s pledges to conduct mass deportations of illegal immigrants and wouldn’t say whether he would cooperate with any federal government crackdowns.  He also said he wouldn’t make unilateral changes to New York City’s sanctuary policy, which restricts cooperation with federal immigration crackdowns. He said the City Council would have to approve such changes.  “I don’t want to be a dictator,” he said. “I want my other arms of government to do their job. People who are repeat offenders of violent acts, after they serve their time, they should not remain in our city. And that’s the job of the City Council.”   New York City has seen an influx of more than 223,000 asylum-seekers over the past two years amid a historic surge of immigration along the U.S.-Mexico border. Many of them have been bused into New York by Texas and other border states as a protest over the Biden administration’s immigration policies. The city spent $1.45 billion in fiscal year 2023 on migrant costs and expects to spend $10 billion on migrants over the next two fiscal years, according to the Adams administration. Nearly 60,000 migrants are currently under the city’s care, receiving housing, food, and other necessities. Biden-Harris Backs UN Pro-Censorship and Anti-Privacy Plan, but Senate Approval Remains a Challenge

Biden-Harris Backs UN Pro-Censorship and Anti-Privacy Plan, but Senate Approval Remains a Challenge

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. One of the United Nations (UN) plans, the version of which the organization adopted in August after a long process, is now awaiting approval of member countries. But it has also been opposed by free speech and privacy advocates all along, and is now in danger of failing to garner support from a major UN backer and bankroller, the United States. The UN’s cybercrime treaty has to be ratified in parliaments of those countries that sign it. The outgoing White House is likely to pledge just so – but the new Senate is not expected to rubber-stamp the move. The UN scheme had faced opposition from rights supporters who said over and over that the language is poorly defined, broad, therefore prone to misuse, and stemming from that, open to being used as a new, “improved” mass surveillance tool on a global scale. The plan is question is known as the UN cybercrime regime (treaty) – but the question mark regarding its adoption in the US is now stretching all the way from the UN HQ on the East River, to the Capitol in Washington DC. And that has to do with – well, regime change. Namely, the Biden-Harris administration that is on its way out is said to be determined to back the treaty later this week – but even so, the document will have to be ratified by the new Senate. A two-thirds majority is necessary for this to happen – and after the November 5 election, that seems unlikely. More interesting, perhaps, is the way legacy media treat the situation – in some cases, these outlets are suddenly recognizing that the UN treaty has long been opposed by privacy and civil rights groups – as well as tech companies. A rare instance of these speaking in unison, but even more of a rare occurrence for this particular brand of media is to report about it – particularly as the US administration about to step down is likely to make its last international grandstand and support the treaty. In question, according to what legacy media now highlight, is “any crime enabled by technology” – and, everyone is at risk from more government surveillance. Doocy Asks KJP About ‘Awkward’ Biden-Harris Lunch, Time Demands Illegals Be Saved

In the second White House press briefing since the presidential election and a day before the surreal Oval Office sit-down between President Biden and President-Elect Trump, Fox’s Peter Doocy drew Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s ire when he wonddered “how awkward was” Tuesday’s lunch between Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House. Jean-Pierre pretended to stammer in confusion as Doocy tried to explain himself: “I don’t even understand. Why would — why would it be awkward? Why would it be awkward? Why would — why would you — but why would — why would you characterize it as awkward? They have regular lunches. Uh — they meet and talk regularly.”     Amid all that hoopla, Doocy expanded: “Because — because the President got squeezed out for her and then she kept him at arm’s length, and then she lost and now, she’s back.” Jean-Pierre unloaded at Doocy once he made one last go at it: DOOCY: So, there’s no weirdness about the way that things have unfolded since July 21? JEAN-PIERRE: Did you see them — did you see them together yesterday as well when they honored our veterans and were together — uh — uh — during the day, making sure that we didn’t forget the brave men and women that fought for this country? Did you see them together yesterday? Did you see the — the show of force together? This is — uh —I’m not even gonna take the premise of this — the question. What I will say is the President and the Vice President had lunch today. They’ve had lunch many times. They have — um — they communicate with each other regularly. They had an opportunity to discuss the last 70 days or so of this administration, how important it is to get things done for the American people, and that’s their focus. That is genuinely their focus. Moments earlier, Doocy had asked whether Harris would be at the White House Wednesday (no), whether Biden would ask Trump “to pardon his son Hunter” for him since the current President has insisted he wouldn’t, and if Biden would tell Trump about what he believes is the country’s biggest threat (as Obama did in making the case to Trump it was North Korea). Towards the end of the briefing, Time magazine’s Brian Bennett delivered this missive from the left that Biden take steps to protect illegal immigrants from a Trump Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol: Time magazine’s Brian Bennett: “President Trump has promised to launch the largest deportation in American history when he becomes president. Trump’s new border czar calls ‘The View’ the ‘island of misfit toys,’ debunks erroneous claims about pending mass deportation

The lack of border security under the Biden administration is one of many reasons the nation re-elected Donald Trump. The people are ready to see the mass deportations Trump has promised come to fruition. Per usual, however, the mainstream media/propaganda arm of the Democrat Party is spinning lies about what mass deportations mean. Dave Rubin plays the clip of “The View” co-host Ana Navarro lying about Trump’s intentions to deport American citizens and the response from Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar. “If you have U.S. citizen children or a U.S. citizen spouse and you don’t want to separate them, then let’s deport the U.S. citizens,” Navarro said, referring to Trump’s mass deportation plan. “When you talk about mass deportations, people think, ‘Oh, it's just going to be the criminals.’ ... What it means is grandmothers; what it means is brothers and aunts; what it means is abuelos y abuelas; it means dreamers; it means your family members; it means your colleagues,” Navarro claimed. Following these erroneous statements, Trump’s appointed border czar Tom Homan joined “The Sean Hannity Show” to clear up any confusion. “Are you planning on deporting American citizens?” Hannity asked. “No, exactly not. Look, ‘The View,’ it’s like the island of misfit toys,”’ he chuckled. “They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.” Homan then explained Trump’s actual plan: To “prioritize public safety threats and national security threats first,” meaning they’re going to seek out “convicted criminal aliens in this country” and issue “orders of removal.” However, that doesn’t mean that if you’re an illegal alien who’s not a convicted criminal that you’re safe. “If you're in the country illegally, you shouldn't feel comfortable — absolutely not,” Homan added. “When you enter this country illegally, you have committed a crime. You are a criminal, and you're not off the table.” “We’re finally getting the guy we’ve been waiting for!” says Dave. Special-ed teacher threatens Trump voters on video: 'Don't test your gangster on me because you will end on a stretcher'

A Connecticut teacher — who reportedly is assigned to special education at a public elementary school — has been placed on leave after a video circulated showing her threatening people who voted for President-elect Donald Trump. In the video, she claims that "people of color and poor people and gay people and all the people that I care about aren't gonna be safe in America — neither the f*** are you guys. Just because you won doesn't mean we don't remember who the f*** you voted for. You're not in the clear."'I can't unsee the video ... and I can't walk into that school. ... I’m literally shaking, I can't walk into that school and hand my kid off to that person.'She adds, "Please don't test your gangster on me because you will end on a stretcher. Gone. Forever. So serious. Nobody f***in' talk to me unless you wanna swing. If you wanna fight, text me, call me, whatever. Anybody else stay the f*** outta my face."The clip ends with her saying, "And if you voted for Trump, literally please delete me, block me, get rid of everything of me — or step to me, so that I know what’s up, and I can handle you how I see fit. Please, just come forward, we f***in' know. Just tell me. Or leave." Cheshire Public School’s Superintendent Jeff Solan said he was made aware of the Snapchat video over the weekend and that the teacher — whom the district has not identified — was placed on leave until the outcome of an investigation, WFSB-TV reported.Solan told the station that the district received a large number of calls — mostly from people outside the Cheshire community — and that business couldn't be conducted as usual with the teacher on campus.A police presence was put in place out of an abundance of caution, WFSB said, adding Cheshire police stated that they've launched their own investigation.WTIC-TV reported that it learned the teacher is assigned to special education at Chapman Elementary School in Cheshire.Solan told WFSB the teacher intended the video as a private message to her Snapchat group and that she expressed her personal opinion, not the opinion of Cheshire Public Schools.WFSB added that Kate Dias, president of the Connecticut Education Association, released a statement about the teacher’s video in regard to respecting free speech:CEA values the right to free speech and respects the diverse opinions of our members. We know that emotions can run high after an election, and we encourage everyone to engage in respectful conversations as part of our democratic process. Keeping our discussions civil and focused is important in maintaining a positive environment in our schools. We must continue to share our views constructively while prioritizing respect, unity, and our shared commitment to educating and caring for our students.WTIC said the Cheshire Town Council held a meeting Tuesday night, and some parents said they weren't happy with what was expressed in the video.WTIC reported that Amy Bourdon — a Cheshire mom whose son with special needs attends school in the district — said, "I saw a woman in crisis, and then when I replayed it a couple of times, I got up from my table and went and locked my front door."Bourdon — who is a Republican, WTIC said — added that "we are the targets. Our lives have been targeted by an individual that cashes a paycheck from the town of Cheshire every week."Lorie Barnes told WTIC that “I'm tired of being a Trump supporter and whispering."Barnes, who's lived in Cheshire all her life, added to WTIC that her grandson will be moving from England and entering the Cheshire school district — and now that terrifies her."I can't unsee the video ... and I can't walk into that school. ... I’m literally shaking, I can't walk into that school and hand my kid off to that person," Barnes told WTIC.You can view a news station video report here about the controversy. The hits just keep on comingAs Blaze News has previously reported this week, a Southern California high school teacher on the day after the election lashed out in a classroom at a student who was wearing a Trump hat. Blaze News this week also noted that a teacher at a different Southern California public high school went on a profane rant in his Advanced Placement world history class against Trump the day after the election and was placed on administrative leave.Like Blaze News?
