Getty Museum’s Revealing Double Feature on Medieval Light and Astrology

The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles is inviting visitors to explore the intersection of science, art, and mysticism in the Middle Ages with two captivating exhibitions, Lumen: The Art and Science of Light and Rising Signs: The Medieval Science of Astrology. These exhibitions are part of the larger PST ART initiative, a regional collaboration that showcases the dialogue between art and science across more than 70 cultural institutions in Southern California. Lumen: The Art and Science of Light - A Journey Through Medieval Brilliance The J. Paul Getty Museum's new exhibition, Lumen: The Art and Science of Light, shines a spotlight on the medieval era’s artistic and scientific fascination with light. Showcasing over 100 works, this collection features gilded manuscripts, celestial maps, and scientific instruments, illustrating how the era's understanding of light informed both religious and cultural practices. Curators Kristen Collins and Nancy Turner crafted this exhibition as part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, an ambitious Southern California initiative that unites over 70 institutions around themes blending artistic expression with scientific inquiry. Drop in MSNBC Ratings Reveal Democrats Are Looking for New Ways to Be Lied To

US—Both MSNBC and CNN are reporting massive drops in viewership, prompting loyal audiences to search elsewhere for their daily dose of comforting narratives. Longtime viewers of the cable news giants, now in a post-cable quest for more creative fibs, have been flocking to other, more “trustworthy” sources of misinformation. “I used to start my day with MSNBC to get my facts… or at least, the right kind of facts,” explained Oran G. Manbad, a devoted MSNBC fan. “Now, I’m turning to alternatives like Jon Lovitz’s ‘Liar’ character on SNL reruns. Nothing says truth like a guy who lies so openly.” Experts say the move has created an unexpected market for “vintage” misinformation. A poll of former MSNBC viewers shows that 63% have turned to watching Joe Isuzu ads for nostalgia’s sake, with one respondent noting, “That guy’s delivery really sells the kind of confident untruth I’ve been missing. I could believe anything that man says.” Many political commentators are eager to see if the loss in ratings will impact MSNBC’s ability to produce new storylines. Meanwhile, online groups like “Fib Network” are popping up with members who collectively create and share their own half-truths and spin, fostering a vibrant, creative community of DIY disinformation. “It’s liberating,” Manbad confessed. “Now I can tune into anything and get exactly the narrative I need—no news anchor required.” The post Drop in MSNBC Ratings Reveal Democrats Are Looking for New Ways to Be Lied To appeared first on Genesius Times.

Kate Middleton Makes First Major Public Appearance After Cancer Battle

Remembrance Sunday, which honors past military officers and fallen soldiers, is an event the world looks forward to. The British Royal Family joins the families of fallen soldiers to pay tribute. Since Kate Middleton’s marriage to the Prince of Wales, she has never missed a memorial service. However, many thought she would be absent this year due to her recent battle with cancer. In March, Kate announced her cancer diagnosis, and in September, she confirmed she was done with her preventive chemotherapy. While she noted that she was still on a “long road to recovery,” the Princess of Wales engaged in different activities this remembrance weekend, and she looked remarkable while doing so. The event was a musical tribute to the British Armed Forces and fallen heroes, and it was reported that she got teary during the tribute. At the Remembrance service on Sunday, she stood with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh at the Cenotaph where the service is usually held every year while they watched King Charles III, her husband and others lay a wreath at the Cenotaph for the fallen soldiers. At some point during the event, Sophie put a reassuring arm on Kate, offering her silent support. Despite the solemnity of the events, the Princess’s respectful yet stunning attire stood out. She also wore a red poppy brooch. For the event on Sunday, she chose a black dress coat and a black hat with a net veil. In honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II, she wore the Bahrain pearl earrings given to the queen at her wedding, and as Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm, she also wore the Royal Air Force pin.  Kate Middleton at the British Royal Force Remembrance Week event/Instagram The presence of the Princess of Wales at Remembrance events despite her health struggles has proved her strength and commitment to public service. Bing Crosby Returning To Christmas Music 47 Years After His Death

Bing Crosby’s last Christmas release, “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boys,” featured David Bowie in 1997, and another is in the works decades after his demise. The track was one of his final recordings, which he used for his TV special Merrie Olde Christmas. K-Pop star V has collaborated with Bing Crosby’s estate to release a revised version of his holiday songs this Christmas. V has remixed the original version of “White Christmas” from 1942, which holds a Guinness World Record for best-selling single by physical sales. Bing Crosby’s Christmas remix features K-Pop star, bringing new life to his Christmas tunes DIXIE, Bing Crosby, 1943/Everett Kim Tae-Hyung, a.k.a. V, called Crosby one of his all-time favorite Jazz artists, noting that he was obsessed with “It’s Been a Long, Long Time” growing up. He expressed gratitude at the opportunity to work with Crosby— though late, and hoped that fans enjoy their creation. “White Christmas (with V of BTS)” will be available for streaming from December 6. However, fans can pre-save and preorder it on vinyl until then. Crosby’s daughter Mary and his son Harry shared their thoughts about having V on board, noting that he was a beautiful addition to the track. THE BIG BROADCAST, Bing Crosby/Everett “White Christmas (with V of BTS)” V and his BTS bandmates Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, RM, and Jungkook have been out of the spotlight since 2022, and are currently on mandatory military service in their home country of South Korea. Reports say they will reunite in 2025 once RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook conclude their time. WHITE CHRISTMAS, Bing Crosby, 1954/Everett The original “White Christmas” did so well that it remained at number one for weeks and resurfaced a few times in subsequent years. It also received an Oscar for Best Original Song. V has always had immaculate holiday selections, such as “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” which he covered in 2022.
