ABC Silent as Toxic East Palestine Derailment Anniversary Pulls into the Station

Saturday will mark one year since a toxic Norfolk Southern train derailment‚ and the subsequent “controlled” release and burn-off overseen by the Environmental Protection Agency‚ poisoned the town of East Palestine‚ Ohio. But in the run-up to the anniversary of the man-made ecological disaster‚ ABC’s flagship morning and evening newscasts (Good Morning America and World News Tonight) completely ignored it. Meanwhile‚ NBC Nightly News ignored the fact that President Biden still had not visited the site nor met with residents there. ABC’s apparent reluctance to mark the first anniversary was another data point in the network’s poor pattern of behavior with the story. As NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck reported last year‚ ABC was the first broadcast network to distance itself from the East Palestine story just two weeks after the disaster. Thursday’s edition of NBC Nightly News had an entire report dedicated to the anniversary featuring correspondent Steven Romo speaking with resident Christine Dilworth‚ whose life had been turned upside down by the derailment: DILWORTH: We all had to leave. It was scary. It was like a horror movie. ROMO: For much of the last year‚ Dilworth stayed at a hotel‚ paid for by Norfolk Southern. But that relocation program is ending. DILWORTH: Bottled water. It's just my new normal. ROMO: She hoped coming back to her house would feel more like coming home. DILWORTH: A lot of people just think oh‚ it's done‚ it's over. Everybody is safe to go home. I always feel like we’re the forgotten town.     “An October EPA report did not show any concerning levels of contaminants‚ and state regulators say the tap water is safe. But many here worry about the long-term health impacts. After the derailment‚ Dilworth says she developed a rash and headaches‚” Romo reported. Unfortunately‚ Romo’s report failed to mention that President Biden had yet to actually visit East Palestine. Biden was supposedly planning to finally survey East Palestine on Saturday‚ but perhaps NBC realized that showing up a year late still wasn’t good optics in an election year. During CBS Mornings‚ on Thursday‚ correspondent Roxana Saberi highlighted Biden’s visit‚ noting that it came “at the invitation of the mayor and some residents.” Co-anchor Jericka Duncan seemed to worry about how Biden would “be received” given how “he didn`t go and face criticism early on when this happened.” “It is likely to be a tough crowd‚” Saberi warned. “It is known to be Trump country. When the former President visited last year shortly after the derailment‚ he was treated like a rock star.” She also shared the White House messaging “that President Biden has always said he`d go when he`s most useful for the community and that federal agencies have been on the ground monitoring this situation.” CBS was going to air a CBS Reports special titled Toxic Fog‚ which featured a former EPA official ripping how Biden’s EPA mishandled the situation. The transcripts are below. Click "expand" to read: CBS Mornings February 1‚ 2024 8:02:05 a.m. Eastern TONY DOKOUPIL: All right‚ we`re going to begin this hour with an inside look at a disaster that raised some serious questions about train safety and the response from regulators. This was a strongly criticized response. Saturday marks one year since a Norfolk Southern freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed in East Palestine‚ Ohio. You remember these pictures. Thousands of residents evacuated‚ forced out of their homes over fears of the tankers could explode. Well then‚ local officials allowed the rail operator to conduct what they called a controlled release of the cancer-causing chemical from five train cars. Wow. They vented it. They burned it right off into the atmosphere. In a new CBS Reports documentary called "Toxic Fog‚" Roxana Saberi talks with a former EPA official who questions that decision. [Cuts to video] JUDITH ENCK (Former EPA regional administrator): It defies logic. If you`re going to burn five train cars of a known human carcinogen with no pollution controls‚ of course‚ there are going to be toxic exposures. ROXANA SABERI: Judith Enck is a former regional EPA administrator who has criticized the decision to burn off the chemicals after the derailment. ENCK: When I served at EPA‚ there was a vinyl chloride train derailment in Paulsboro‚ New Jersey. You suck the chemicals out of the derailed train cars‚ and you bring the chemicals to a commercial hazardous waste disposal facility. This was unprecedented. SABERI: The EPA told us in a statement‚ the personnel were present during ad hoc meetings leading up to the decision to vent and burn in East Palestine‚ but were not consulted about it‚ adding its role was to monitor the air. ENCK: If you`re in the room‚ speak up. What`s the point of being in the room if you`re not going to share your expertise? SABERI: And the EPA did not speak up? ENCK: No. They stood by while this happened. [Cuts back to live] DOKOUPIL: Wow. And Roxana Saberi joins us now. Roxana‚ it`s a fascinating report. It`s remarkable that that EPA official went on camera to talk about these issues. Are you hearing other things from other officials? And what about residents? SABERI: Yeah. Well‚ we took a tour of the contamination site and the cleanup site with the Environmental Protection Agency and they told us that according to all the tests‚ results that they`ve gotten back‚ there are not levels of dangerous -- there are not dangerous levels of chemicals in the area. But I asked an EPA supervisor about that: Why are some residents still feeling health symptoms? And he said we just don`t have a good answer for that. Now‚ some of these symptoms include brain fog‚ vision -- blurry vision‚ loss of mobility. NATE BURLESON: Wow. SABERI: One man we met said he started getting seizures and he can`t work anymore as an arborist and he actually can`t drive anymore. DOKOUPIL: Wow. SABERI: Medical experts say there`s just not enough research on what these chemicals can do to human beings. It`s not something you can test in a lab. BURLESON: Right. SABERI: So‚ that`s why they need to continue monitoring the health of this community. JERICKA DUNCAN: We know the President is supposed to go to that area next -- or this month‚ but he didn`t go and face criticism early on when this happened. How do you think he`ll be received? SABERI: Well‚ we know that he`s going at the invitation of the mayor and some residents. So‚ some people want him to go and see what`s happened on the ground‚ the progress they`ve made‚ and still concerns that some people have. DUNCAN: Right. SABERI: It is likely to be a tough crowd. It is known to be Trump country. When the former President visited last year shortly after the derailment‚ he was treated like a rock star. The White House has said that President Biden has always said he`d go when he`s most useful for the community and that federal agencies have been on the ground monitoring this situation. DOKOUPIL: Everything becomes political at some point. Roxana Saberi‚ thank you very much. Appreciate it. NBC Nightly News February a‚ 2024 6:45:08 p.m. Eastern LESTER HOLT: This weekend marks one year since that toxic train derailment in Ohio devastating the community of East Palestine. Our Steven Romo spoke to people just now returning who say there is still a long way to get back to normal. [Cuts to video] STEVEN ROMO: Tonight‚ video and documents just released by the NTSB shedding new light on that devastating train derailment and controlled explosion a year ago. Including transcripts of the conversation in the train's cab when conductors realized something was seriously wrong. "We didn't get any air in the back‚" one says. "That means we've come apart." 38 cars had jumped the tracks‚ some bursting into flames and leaking toxic chemicals. Christina Dilworth says that day East Palestine changed forever. CHRISTINA DILWORTH: We all had to leave. ROMO: An October EPA report did not show any concerning levels of contaminants‚ and state regulators say the tap water is safe. But many here worry about the long-term health impacts. After the derailment‚ Dilworth says she developed a rash and headaches. Health wise‚ are you concerned just being here? DILWORTH: Yes‚ I am concerned. What's my long-term future? I've already been exposed. ROMO: As for the cleanup‚ Norfolk Southern says that is nearly complete. Trucks and heavy machinery remain as crews rebuild the area that was dug up to remove chemicals. CHRIS HUNSICKER: We want to make it look like it was beforehand. ROMO: Crews also installed pumps‚ which are still collecting all storm water from the site. A lot of people asking why it took so long. What was the biggest challenge at this site? HUNSICKER: You know‚ it's a complex site‚ but everything we do‚ we got to work with the regulators to get done correctly. ROMO: Meanwhile‚ all day long‚ trains run through East Palestine‚ and no new federal safety legislation has passed. Steven Romo‚ NBC News‚ East Palestine‚ Ohio.

CNN Climate Warrior Travels To Antarctica To Study Whale Poop

About a year ago‚ CNN climate warrior Bill Weir traveled 6‚600 miles to Ushuaia‚ Argentina‚ to lament the use of fossil fuels before setting off for Antarctica to tag along with a group of whale scientists. On Friday‚ Weir joined CNN News Central to promote the new documentary that came from that trip and reveal that those scientists were studying whale excrement. Weir told the trio of co-hosts that whales “are the biggest allies we have‚ literally the biggest allies on the planet‚ and it's so good we saved them from oblivion because when I was a little boy‚ they were on the brink of extinction. The comeback of the humpback is one of the great stories of conservation‚ and a couple of years ago‚ some economists at the International Monetary Fund said‚ "Let's figure out the value of a whale. What Earth services it provides over its 60-year life‚ $2 million-- $ 2 million in Earth services‚ all thanks to their poo.”      The show then showed a clip from the upcoming documentary that will air on Sunday. In the clip‚ Weir is shown onboard a boat with the scientists collecting the samples. Weir is also shown with Dr. Ari Friedlaender explaining how whales are “the planet’s biggest fertilizer pumps.” Back in studio‚ Weir explained‚ “There's a little over a million whales now that are bouncing back of all species. These economists say we get 4 million on the planet. We could really draw down as much carbon as three‚ four Amazon rainforests.” That’s all well and good‚ but did the fossil fuel-decrying Weir really have to travel all the way to the bottom of the world to report that? On the matter of Weir’s travel‚ Kate Bolduan jokingly asked‚ “You work for the same company we do?” while Sara Sidner asked‚ “How do you get these?” Not only did Weir travel to the bottom of the world for the documentary‚ he also admitted to traveling to the top of the world while also stopping over in Colombia: I cashed in a lot of frequent flyer miles‚ I used some coupons‚ but then we went up to the coast of Colombia where there's their breeding grounds and so just gorging and logging and they're couch potatoes down south and then when they get in the tropics it is like spring break and they're mating and jumping. We go all over the world. I confronted one of the last whale hunters in Iceland about his trade and so this is one of the best hours we've put together. It’s good for Weir that he gets to take field trips to beautiful locations across the world for work‚ but what is not good is that if a normal person tried to take a vacation to the same location‚ Weir would lament all the fossil fuels being burned in the process. As G.K. Chesterton once observed‚ journalism can be done from bed‚ whale harpooning (or researching) cannot. Was Weir's physical presence really necessary? Here is a transcript for the February 2 show: CNN News Central 2/2/2024 11:51 AM ET KATE BOLDUAN: This Sunday‚ CNN will take you to the far corners -- I know‚ corners‚ reaches‚ you decide what shape-- of the Earth for a special report on the climate crisis. CNN's Bill Weir embedded with a team of researchers tracking humpback whales to reveal how the crisis is impacting them and how they might actually help beat it. Bill is here. Tell me more! Us more.  BILL WEIR: They are the biggest allies we have‚ literally the biggest allies on the planet and it's so good we saved them from oblivion because when I was a little boy they were on the brink of extinction. The comeback of the humpback is one of the great stories of conservation and a couple of years ago some economists at the International Monetary Fund said let's figure out the value of a whale. What Earth services it provides over its 60-year life‚ $2 million-- $ 2 million in Earth services all thanks to their poo.  SARA SIDNER: Of course.  BILL WEIR: And then they hit the jackpot.  Oh‚ we got poo.  WEIR: Whale stool sample.  ARI FRIEDLAENDER: Nice.  FEMALE RESEARCHER: You got a good chunk or you want some more.  FRIEDLAENDER: That should be plenty.  MALE RESEARCHER 2: Look at that.  MALE RESEARCHER 3: That's the goal.  WEIR: That's the goal.  MALE RESEARCHER 3: That is the goal.  FEMALE RESEARCHER: There we have the poo.  WEIR: New science finds that when it comes to Earth repair‚ whale poo has massive value. You see‚ when wailers wiped out 95 percent of the Baleen whales we lost the planet's biggest fertilizer pumps. One pod can take important nutrients from deep water and spread them across miles of ocean surface water‚ feeding the phytoplankton which feeds the krill which feeds everything from penguins to seals to whales.  They're the gardeners of the ocean aren’t they.  FRIEDLAENDER: Yeah‚ instead of thinking of a food chain going one end to the other and stopping‚ it is much more like a circle. So‚ they're literally seeding the upper parts of the ocean with the opportunity for plant life to grow and that's what feeds the whale food. So‚ you’re right‚ in a sense they're basically farmers. They're recycling nutrients. There's more food available to them the more they're around.  WEIR: Whale laxatives‚ John Berman just suggested.  JOHN BERMAN: Well‚ the answer to all of our issues.  WEIR: It is. SIDNER: Called out. Called out. WEIR: It is‚ but let them do their thing and let them come back. There's a little over a million whales now that are bouncing back of all species. These economists say we get 4 million on the planet. We could really draw down as much carbon as three‚ four Amazon rainforests‚ and new artificial intelligence is helping us understand their communications. A team in Alaska had a 20-minute conversation with a humpback whale‚ playing back and forth‚ different cadences. We are just beginning to understand our biggest planetary roommates and literally the biggest allies we have. SIDNER: It’s mind blowing.  BERMAN: Can I just ask you‚ because those pictures were beautiful. Where were you?  WEIR: We were in the Antarctic Peninsula. We sailed out of the tip of Argentina and went all the way down.  BOLDUAN: You work for the same company we do?  SIDNER: How do you get these?  WEIR: I cashed in a lot of frequent flyer miles‚ I used some coupons‚ but then we went up to the coast of Colombia where there's their breeding grounds and so just gorging and logging and they're couch potatoes down south and then when they get in the tropics it is like spring break and they're mating and jumping. We go all over the world. I confronted one of the last whale hunters in Iceland about his trade and so this is one of the best hours we've put together.

CBS Uninterested in Criminal Illegal Immigrants Beating NYPD Officers

Members of the New York Police Department might be interested to learn that one of the broadcast networks they help to protect doesn’t seem to care about the wellbeing of their fellow officers. While most of America was horrified to see the viral video of a pack of criminal illegal immigrants attacking two NYPD officers this week‚ CBS was completely uninterested. Neither of their flagship morning and evening newscasts (CBS Mornings and CBS Evening News) dedicated a full report to the story. Instead of putting a spotlight on how the border crisis led to two officers getting attacked in their own backyard‚ CBS Mornings did multiple reports on the upcoming Grammies during their Friday show. And on Tuesday‚ CBS Evening News whined about Republicans trying to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his role in the border crisis. NBC’s Today show dedicated a 37-second news brief to the story on Thursday. Co-anchor Craig Melvin called it “a shocking act of violence that was caught on camera in the heart of Times Square.” Along with showing the video‚ Melvin also noted that many of the attackers had escaped and those who were arrested were released: Police right here as you can see‚ trying to break up a group of young men outside a migrant shelter Saturday night. At one point the men start pushing and kicking two of the officers who suffered minor injuries. Five suspects were eventually arrested on felony charges. A manhunt still underway for seven others. All of those arrested were staying at the shelter and were released without bail.     “When asked if the asylum seekers should be deported New York Governor Kathy Hochul said it is something that should be looked at‚” he concluded. The next day‚ they rolled the attack into a broader story about a bipartisan immigration deal in the Senate. Correspondent Stephanie Gosk reported on the “growing firestorm after this dramatic attack on NYPD officers some of the suspects migrants‚ according to police.” She disclosed that “several of the suspects have arrest records since coming to the U.S.” But despite the fact that all of them were known to be illegal immigrants and it was speculated that those who weren’t arrested were trying to flee back to Mexico‚ Gosk claimed: “NBC news has not been able to confirm their immigration status.” Over on ABC’s World News Tonight‚ anchor David Muir was calling the attackers “asylum seekers.” “Here in New York City‚ authorities are investigating the attack on two NYPD officers in Times Square. They believe many of the suspects were asylum seekers‚” he announced. ABC senior investigative correspondent Aaron Katersky did play a soundbite of New York Governor Kathy Hochul saying deportation should be considered. “I think that's absolutely something that should be looked at. I mean‚ if someone commits a crime against a police officer in the State of New York‚ and they're not here legally‚ definitely worth checking into‚” she said at a press conference. “The city is already struggling to cope with a surge in migrants sent from the southern border. In the last two years‚ nearly 200‚000 have arrived. A third remain in city shelters‚” Katersky lamented.

TSA installing facial recognition tech in over 400 airports‚ despite major privacy concerns

The Transportation Security Administration has recently started quietly launching its plans to install facial recognition technology in more than 400 United States airports‚ despite major privacy concerns‚ the New York Post reported Thursday.A TSA spokesperson confirmed to the news outlet that the agency “is in the early stages of deploying its facial recognition capability to airport security checkpoints.”Despite privacy experts and lawmakers pushing back on the plans‚ the TSA claims the credential authentication technology‚ also called CAT-2 scanners‚ will enhance and expedite the airport screening process for travelers. The automated technology works by photographing passengers and then comparing the biometric data against their identification. The spokesperson told the Post that the machines allow “traveler use of mobile driver’s licenses‚” which they claimed will enhance security and improve the traveling experience.Roughly 50 airports around the nation are currently using CAT-2 machines. The TSA plans to roll out the units in 400 airports but noted it could take until 2030 or 2040 to become fully operational. The TSA maintains that the facial recognition process is voluntary for passengers. “Travelers who decide not to participate in the use of facial recognition technology will receive an alternative ID check by the TSO at the podium. The traveler will not experience any negative consequences for choosing not to participate. There is no issue and no delay with a passenger exercising their rights to not participate in the automated biometrics matching technology‚” the TSA’s website states. It notes that real-time photos of travelers passing through airport security checkpoints are not stored after making an identification match‚ “except in a limited testing environment for evaluation of the effectiveness of the technology.”The TSA spokesperson told the Post that travelers who do not wish to participate in the automated process “may opt out without losing their place in line or any delay in getting through security screening.”Last year‚ a coalition of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle expressed privacy concerns despite the TSA claiming that the technology uses “minimum data” in its identification process.Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley (D) sent a letter to the TSA’s administrator‚ David Pekoske‚ raising objections to the agency’s biometric surveillance of Americans‚ noting that it could pose “a risk to civil liberties and privacy rights.”“While TSA claims that facial identification scans are not mandatory‚ it is unclear how travelers will know that they can ‘opt-out‚’ and what the consequences for travelers are if they choose to opt-out‚” Merkley wrote. The senator further claimed that the technology could “exacerbate racial discrimination.” The letter urged the TSA to “immediately halt its deployment of facial recognition technology.” Merkley warned that the technology could be a “precursor to a full-blown national surveillance state.”In November‚ Merkley and Republican Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana introduced bipartisan legislation to ban the TSA from collecting biometric data. The Traveler Privacy Protection Act was also backed by Edward J. Markey (D-Massachusetts)‚ Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts)‚ Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont)‚ and Roger Marshall (R-Kansas).“Every day‚ TSA scans thousands of Americans’ faces without their permission and without making it clear that travelers can opt out of the invasive screening‚” Kennedy stated. “The Traveler Privacy Protection Act would protect every American from Big Brother’s intrusion by ending the facial recognition program.”Like Blaze News? 'What the world needs': Netflix picks up Will Ferrell doc about road trip with his 62-year-old transgender best friend

Celebrated comedic actor Will Ferrell has sold a new documentary called "Will &; Harper" to Netflix after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival. The film‚ which reportedly received multiple standing ovations at its showings‚ follows Ferrell and his near-elderly transgender friend Andrew Steele‚ who now goes by Harper Steele. The duo travels across the United States for 17 days from New York to California‚ stopping at NBA games‚ bars‚ and other locations where Steele hopes to feel more comfortable while pretending to be a woman. As Variety reported‚ Steele declared that he was a woman in 2022 after a lengthy career as a comedic writer. His writing credits include "The Ladies Man‚" and Ferrell's "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga." The documentary includes cameos by several "Saturday Night Live" alumni such as Tina Fey and Molly Shannon. Ferrell and Steele met on the famous New York production in the mid-1990s.The 62-year-old Steele has no acting credits to his name‚ but that didn't stop the documentary from fielding interest from several buyers before it was sold to Netflix for an undisclosed price."I had met trans people‚ but I didn’t have anyone personally in my life‚" Ferrell told Variety. "So this was all new territory for me. It’s a chance for us in the cis community to ask questions‚ listen and be there as a friend to discuss this journey."He also admitted that he had "baseline" or "zero" knowledge about transgenderism before his friend Steele decided he was a woman.Steele said the film's inspiration came from the idea that the rights of those who are non-heterosexual are under attack in the United States‚ with Variety's chief film critic Peter Debruge claiming the film is "what the world needs now.""‘Will &; Harper’ earns that distinction. Struggling to recognize her own beauty in a society that often seems determined to deny her identity altogether‚ Steele brings the trans experience down to earth‚" the critic added. The writer was asked if there was ever a point in the film where he felt "legitimately fearful" while seeking acceptance as a woman."No ... there is a moment where I felt very creeped out‚ I don't know what the word is. I never felt unsafe‚ I was with Will‚ which makes things safer‚" Steele replied.Ferrell reportedly broke down in tears in multiple parts of the film and also cried during remarks after the documentary screening. While reportedly capturing emotional conversations about being transgender‚ the film also managed to plug in what sound like sponsored comical gags involving Pringles‚ costumes‚ and a trip to Dunkin' Donuts.Like Blaze News? Meet Imran Ahmed‚ the next George Soros

Meet Imran Ahmed‚ the next George Soros

You probably have never heard of Imran Ahmed‚ but you have likely been impacted by him. A figure whose identity is nearly as obscure and shrouded as George Soros‚ his influence has reached the deepest caverns of our government‚ from the heart of the White House to state-level officials. People like Ahmed and Soros tend to dwell in the shadows so that the rest of us can only see their effects rather than the person behind the curtain. It’s high time we brought Imran Ahmed into the light. How convenient that they can broaden the definition of “climate change denial” to encompass any opinion contrary to the climate overlords’ solutions. Ahmed is the founder of the London-based Center for Countering Digital Hate. Prior to founding the CCDH in 2017‚ Ahmed was an adviser to Labour Party members of British Parliament. According to an in-depth report by Paul Thacker for Tablet magazine‚ Ahmed is persistently suspected of working for British intelligence. It is public information‚ however‚ that the CCDH has multiple connections to the British government. Past and present board members include the strategy director in the office of former U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown‚ the former British ambassador to Israel‚ the chief of staff for former U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg‚ and the campaign director for the Labour Party. The CCDH came on my radar recently after the group released a report detailing how Google is profiting from “climate misinformation” videos on YouTube. The report also mentions me — an apparent “conservative firebrand” — and BlazeTV as purveyors of climate change denial. What crime exactly have we committed? The CCDH report sounds the alarm regarding a “new denial” about climate change. In the old days‚ “climate denial” meant that you straight-up didn’t believe that climate change is real. But the CCDH says old-timey denial is being replaced by a new wave of nefarious denial. What exactly constitutes this new “nefarious” denial? According to the CCDH‚ you fall into this category if you have ever said any of the following: The impacts of global warming are beneficial or harmless. [That] climate solutions won’t work. [And that] climate science and the climate movement are unreliable. How convenient that they can broaden the definition of “climate change denial” to encompass any opinion contrary to the climate overlords’ solutions. In America‚ we used to call that basic policy debate. Now you can’t even question the climate science or whether the climate movement at large can be trusted. I thought asking questions was the whole basis of science‚ but then again‚ I was in school a very long time ago‚ so maybe science changed. From Westminster to the White House This is the most recent example of the CCDH’s absurd attempt to manipulate public perception of terms to benefit the leftist agenda. Yet the underlying mission of this group is insidious. It is equating perspectives other than the approved globalist narrative with “hate‚” and it is using its network of political and Big Tech elites to censor those of us who don’t conform to their Orwellian Newspeak. In 2020‚ the CCDH convinced Google to ban the website Zero Hedge from its ad platform. Ahmed’s group alleged that some of the comment sections on Zero Hedge contained racist statements related to the Black Lives Matter protests. The CCDH convinced Google to issue a warning to the Federalist for alleged racism in its comment sections related to George Floyd. In 2021‚ Ahmed expanded the CCDH’s influence in American politics by opening a branch in Washington‚ D.C.‚ as a 501(c)3 nonprofit. The CCDH has apparently received funding through the Schwab Charitable Fund‚ which allows donors to remain anonymous. If that doesn’t strike you as suspicious‚ according to the CCDH’s 2021 tax return‚ Ahmed is listed as the only full-time employee‚ and he’s listed as clocking 80 hours a week. Either it must require a lot of hours to track down digital hate‚ or something else is going on behind the curtain that they don’t want you to see. Also listed on the tax return as the CCDH’s board chairman is Simon Clark‚ a former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. The Center for American Progress was started by John Podesta‚ who went on to run Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016. The Biden administration hired more than 60 people who were either working or had worked for the CAP to fill various White House and executive agency posts. Podesta himself is now Joe Biden’s senior adviser for clean energy. Perhaps it was through those Center for American Progress connections that Ahmed and the CCDH got plugged directly into the heart of the Biden White House. Disinformation and defamation The same year Ahmed opened the D.C. office of his anti-hate campaign‚ the CCDH released a report on what it termed the “Disinformation Dozen‚” a group of 12 individuals who the organization claimed were most responsible for spreading what the org — and later‚ the White House — deemed “disinformation” about COVID and vaccines. Jen Psaki used the exact same numbers from the CCDH report when she was still White House press secretary in July 2021. Someone was able to get that report directly into White House hands. In late August‚ U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) subpoenaed the CCDH for records related to its alleged interaction with the Biden White House. When the CCDH finally complied with the subpoena‚ the group admitted to having direct communication with the White House about the “Disinformation Dozen” report. The CCDH’s reach doesn’t end at the White House. As Matt Taibbi reported in the Twitter Files‚ 12 state attorneys general also cited the CCDH’s “Disinformation Dozen” report in their campaign to convince Twitter to penalize accounts that spread what they deemed as COVID “disinformation.” The CCDH is also actively courting advertisers to step away from X. Elon Musk is now in a legal battle with the CCDH in a defamation case for falsely claiming that hate speech rose on the platform after Musk bought Twitter in October 2022. The prodigious rise of the Center for Countering Digital Hate is more than a little suspicious. As Paul Thacker put it in his report: For a tiny‚ unknown‚ nonprofit to gain so much attention in D.C.’s crowded‚ competitive policy space is akin to a pudgy‚ amateur athlete catching the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl‚ while setting a new world record in the marathon‚ all in one week. So what’s going on? Why does it appear that the Biden White House is working with shadowy nonprofits — and in the CCDH’s case‚ essentially one man — to suppress and censor viewpoints that clash with its agenda? What do these foreign nationals have on our government officials to have so much influence over the approved speech of American citizens? These questions need answers‚ and it’s high time we bring Imran Ahmed out from the shadows to answer them. Want more from Glenn Beck? A dive into why Bernie Sanders hates Israel

Bernie Sanders has just taken it upon himself to rally support on the Senate floor to cut funding to Israel — until Israel stops defending itself from the terrorist group Hamas. “Bernie Sanders is a Marxist low-life‚” Mark Levin charges. “He is a self-hating Jew. He is not a Jew of faith; he’s a Jew of birth.” Levin believes that if Sanders had his way‚ he “would burn down our entire country and replace it with his Marxist nirvana‚ which we all know would mean prison camps‚ mass murder‚ centralized destruction‚ an economy where people starve and can’t feed themselves.” “That’s the natural logical end to what this man preaches‚” Levin adds. When Sanders was asked by CNN host Jake Tapper whether or not Biden’s strikes as a response to the Houthis were warranted‚ he responded‚ “What I do think is the president has a right to respond on an emergency basis to the disruption.” “I’m sure there’ll be like 15 ‘buts’ after that‚” Levin says. “On the other hand‚ he’s got to get the Congress immediately. It is Congress that has the right to declare war‚ not the president of the United States‚” Sanders continued‚ proving Levin right. Sanders is currently trying to force a vote in Congress that would direct the U.S. State Department to look into whether Israel is using U.S. equipment or assistance to violate human rights standards in Gaza. “This is outrageous. Bernie Sanders goes to the floor of the Senate. He’s introducing a requirement legislation or resolution that they will not continue to support Israel if Israel’s using weaponry it buys from the United States to commit war crimes‚” Levin says. “Israel’s not committing war crimes. Hamas commits war crimes; that’s why they’re called terrorists. Just look at this moral equivalency‚ how they’ve turned this upside down‚” he continues. Reporter holds defense secretary's feet to the fire‚ tries to get answers for American people on hospitalization cover-up

NBC News chief correspondent Peter Alexander held Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's feet to the fire on Thursday over his hospitalization scandal. For the first time since his secret ICU hospitalization‚ Austin faced reporters and questions about the scandal that erupted last month. The secretary provided few answers‚ but it wasn't due to a lack of effort from reporters like Alexander.About halfway through the press conference‚ Alexander confronted Austin with the toughest question of the day:You were hospitalized for days before you informed the White House or the commander in chief of your condition and your absence. Anyone else within the military chain of command would have faced reprimand or even dismissal. Why shouldn't that same standard apply to you‚ sir?Austin‚ unfortunately‚ did not answer the question. While in the same breath claiming that he takes "full responsibility" for the scandal — in which he kept President Joe Biden and senior members of the U.S. government in the dark about his hospitalization — Austin said that he is not "sure‚ at this point‚ what exactly happened" but promised more answers once the Pentagon inspector general finishes a "review" of the incident.Austin‚ then‚ provided zero reasons for why the same standard applied to military personnel should not be applied to him. — (@) That was his modus operandi at the press conference.Reporters asked Austin specific questions about his involvement in the hospital cover-up‚ and he denied any responsibility for the specific decisions that were made and resulted in the secret hospitalization. Instead‚ he repeatedly deferred to the IG's "review."Unfortunately for the American people‚ it will take months — at the very least — before the IG completes his investigation. Meanwhile‚ Austin has been summoned to Capitol Hill to testify in two weeks about the scandal before the House Armed Services Committee. However‚ he has not yet agreed to testify‚ according to Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
