Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) just got a tentative makeover thanks to new research that has estimated its body form. The study leaned on "three critical pieces of information" that have become available in recent years‚ and it paints a very different picture of this enormous bloodthirsty fish.The first piece in the tryptic puzzle was the temperature of the megalodon's blood‚ with researchers concluding that it was warm-blooded‚ just like the modern great white shark its body form has previously been modeled off. However‚ it wasn’t the only one to join the warm-blooded club.Basking sharks that feed on plankton and are still alive today were also found to be warm-blooded‚ which was interesting because they’re slow‚ sluggish swimmers – a trait typically associated with cold-blooded animals. This told researchers that being warm-blooded didn’t necessarily make megalodon a fast swimmer.The third piece of critical information was that megalodon was found to like be a slow-cruising shark based on an analysis of its scales. In short‚ two out of the three cast doubt on the great white’s body form being a suitable comparison for megalodon.“The previously published reconstruction of the vertebral column of Megalodon based on an incomplete set of fossil vertebrae of the species from Belgium was measured to be 11.1 meters [36.4 feet] without accounting for the length of the head or tail‚” study co-lead Kenshu Shimada‚ a palaeobiologist at DePaul University in Chicago‚ told IFLScience. While on the campaign trail in South Carolina‚ she chastised Vice President Kamala Harris over the Biden campaign’s apparent unwillingness to…attack Donald Trump? Watch as Bruce expresses her dissatisfaction at Team Biden’s lack of aggressiveness‚ asking Harris‚ “what are you waiting for”?  MARY BRUCE: Both Biden and Harris face negative approval ratings. And though some recent battleground state polls show Harris actually outperforming Biden in hypothetical matchups against Trump‚ both come up short to the former president. Harris however‚ remains confident they will win this race.  VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: If it is Donald Trump‚ we've beat him before and we'll beat him again.  BRUCE: But that confidence has even some top Democrats concerned‚ urging the campaign to be more aggressive.  BRUCE: Why not go out and attack Donald Trump- go after his legal challenges? This is‚ of course‚ done in order to elicit some variant of the “Biden’s age is an asset” narrative that’s been recently rolled out. Harris’ response before getting cut off: VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: He is extraordinarily smart. He has the ability to see around the corner in terms of what might be the challenges we face as a nation or globally… A journalist in this position might have asked what Biden thought he saw around the corner when unraveling the southern border. Alas‚ Bruce lamented that voters aren’t really buying this line. Bruce then pivots to abortion before honing in on Biden’s bad approval ratings‚ which is framed as a “struggle to sell their accomplishments”. As our very own Tim Graham notes: this is how you can tell a reporter is a Democrat‚ and there was no such acknowledgement of “struggle to sell” when Trump was in office. “Struggle” implies that some heretofore unknown external force is hindering Biden’s approval from soaring to the stratosphere‚ as opposed to what we see with our very own eyes along the border- which went strangely unmentioned throughout this interview. And it is here where Bruce knocks Harris for not being aggressive enough. You will notice in the video we clipped for you that Bruce hides her campaign cheerleading behind the concerns of “top Democrats”. This is what enables her to openly offer campaign advice‚ that Biden-Harris attack Trump over his “legal challenges”‚ as a both question and impatient exhortation. “What are you guys waiting for”? Given both the media's role in furthering the Biden campaign and the Biden White House’s actual conduct of lawfare against Donald Trump‚ the question seemed weird. What else is the campaign supposed to do to aggressively push that message? And furthermore‚ as Graham points out‚ that’s the media’s role.  Most tellingly‚ the interview ended with a rambling non-answer on Biden’s decline with black voters‚ and no follow-up. This was less an interview than an exercise in campaign communications delivered by state media. Every once in a while‚ MSNBC host Joy Reid grants a platform to a conservative‚ risking that her audience will faint at the presence of an opposing viewpoint. On Friday night's edition of The Reidout (aka Freakout)‚ Reid gave time to Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice. Reid began with a weird exercise in getting Justice to agree that liberal parents have rights to bring up their children as they see fit. (Agreed‚ duh.) Then she pulled out a recent Washington Post review of "book challenges‚" which found "The majority of the 1‚000-plus book challenges analyzed by The Post were filed by just 11 people." The implication is that somehow this is unrepresentative of public opinion. But it is democratic‚ in that it challenges decisions made by unelected public-school bureaucrats.  Notice that unelected school librarians are never unrepresentative in liberal eyes -- because the presumption is the schools are in liberal hands. They are also presumed to be the experts‚ and the parents challenging them are presumed to be morons. Reid asked: "Why should 13 people get to decide what books tens of thousands of children get to read?" Justice began to answer‚ and Reid said they were "banning books." Justice provided a fact check of the liberal media spin (notice it's "BAN BOOKS" on the screen underneath):  “No one’s banning books. “Write the book‚ print the book‚ publish the book‚ put the book in the public library‚ sell the book. “We’re talking about a public school library. Reid had no answer. Reid then tried to grill Justice about the details in the sexually graphic book All Boys Are Blue‚ about what was the name of the main character. She weirdly suggested keeping the book out of a school library forced people to buy the book‚ so it's "a tax." As if public libraries don't have it? As if liberals aren't distributing free copies at the LGBT centers?  But mostly‚ Reid just wants to stick to the theme that conservatives can't be Experts. Reid wants to complain conservatives take these books "out of context‚" but she shouts down any attempt to establish a context.  What's funny about this is that Reid wants the kids to have a library book that talks about anal rape and strap-on dildos‚ but she's blanking it out on Twitter!  "In what context is a XXXX-XX XXXXX acceptable for public school?" Dana White masterfully shot down a reporter's question regarding the explosive comments recently made by UFC fighter Sean Strickland. The UFC boss then promptly schooled the reporter on the importance of free speech.During a press conference in Canada on Wednesday‚ Strickland lambasted a reporter over the choice of questions that had nothing to do with sports. The reporter rehashed a tweet that Strickland made in 2021 that read: "If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness..... If I had a wh*re for a daughter I'd think she just wanted to be like her dad lol!"Minutes after the initial tweet‚ Strickland jokingly clarified his comment by saying: "LISTEN gay men are great‚ I support them and their choices. Freedom! Gay guys have it made. Most gay guys I know are always happy. They all just get to hang with buddies all day and have sex.. us straight men‚ we're f***ed... we gotta do some serious work to get laid. Not fair."The Canadian reporter noted that Toronto has a "pretty supportive gay and lesbian community." The reporter also touched on the Bud Light scandal and transphobia. Strickland went on a rant about Canada and the reporter. "Well then you’re a weak f***ing man‚" Strickland lashed out. "You’re part of the f***ing problem. You elected Justin Trudeau. When he seized the bank accounts‚ like you’re just f***ing pathetic. The fact that you have no f***ing backbone and as he shut down your f***ing country and seized bank accounts‚ you ask me some stupid s**t like that. Go f*** yourself. Move the f*** on man."Strickland declared that he "liked the f***ing gays‚" and that he doesn't "give a f*** who you f***." However‚ the UFC middleweight fighter said he has a problem with children being taught about sexual topics in school. On Saturday‚ Strickland would lose the middleweight championship bout to Dricus Du Plessis at the UFC 297 event in Toronto‚ Canada. Following the UFC 297 event‚ Dana White was asked about Strickland's comments by a reporter during the post-fight press conference. White said Strickland was "baited" with the question. He added‚ "I don't try to control any other human being in any way‚ shape‚ or form." The reporter asked White‚ “You obviously give a long leash to your fighters about‚ you know‚ what they can say when they are up there with a UFC microphone‚ and you are getting into territory of‚ like‚ homophobia‚ transphobia... Is there‚" and then White cut him off. White declared‚ "I don’t give anybody a leash. A leash? Free speech. Control what people say? Going to tell people what to believe? Going to tell people…I don’t f***ing tell any other human being what to say‚ what to think. There’s no leashes on any of them.""That’s ridiculous to say I give somebody a leash. Free speech‚ brother‚" White continued. "People can say whatever they want and they can believe whatever they want. And I don’t think there’s any…we had two gay women who fought in the co-main event. They sat on the stage with Sean Strickland. They could give a s**t what Sean Strickland thinks‚ or what he says‚ or what his beliefs are‚ or what his opinions are.”White was referencing UFC fighters Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva – both of whom are gay.
