Elon Musk is expanding his Las Vegas underground transportation system project

Elon Musk's Boring Company plans to expand its Las Vegas underground transportation system project‚ Fox Business reported Thursday. The Boring Company "creates safe‚ fast-to-dig‚ and low-cost transportation‚ utility‚ and freight tunnels" to "solve traffic‚ enable rapid point-to-point transportation and transform cities‚" according to its website.Object Dash‚ a TBC-affiliated firm‚ recently purchased a new tract of land in Las Vegas across the street from a multipurpose arena located on the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus. The firm acquired an additional 1.8 acres for approximately $7.2 million‚ according to Clark County Records‚ first reviewed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I think right now it's contemplated that there will be a station on that site‚" Steve Hill‚ the president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority‚ told the outlet. Hill noted that digging for the project could begin shortly."There is a permit that's been turned in (to Clark County)‚ and I think we've gotten some response back and they're working on those responses‚" he continued. "We are hopeful that a building permit will be issued for that pretty soon."Currently‚ the only operating portion of TBC's Vegas Loop is the 1.7-mile Convention Center Loop‚ which consists of three stations that connect the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall to its North‚ Central‚ and South Halls. What would otherwise be a 45-minute walk can be completed in two minutes with the Tesla-operated underground system. The newest purchase will connect the convention center to UNLV.According to TBC‚ the county and the city have already approved 68 miles of tunnel and 93 stations. Once completed‚ the Vegas Loop will connect the convention center‚ casinos on the Strip‚ Allegiant Stadium‚ downtown Las Vegas‚ and Harry Reid International Airport. TBC estimates the project will be able to transport more than 90‚000 people per hour. The LVCC Loop can already transport more than 4‚500 passengers per hour. The company ultimately plans to connect the Vegas Loop to Los Angeles. The Loop is "an all-electric‚ zero-emissions‚ underground public transportation system in which passengers are transported directly to their final destination with no stops along the way‚" according to TBC.Last year‚ Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman expressed concerns about the underground tunnel project‚ KSNV reported. "I think it's impractical. It is not proven yet. We don't have any raw‚ real data that's confirmed‚" Goodman stated. "I find it unsafe and inaccessible. It is operator driven‚ therefore‚ it's not on a rail and cannot move us all safely."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Dem's fake bill proposes tearing down Statue of Liberty because Republicans are so 'bigoted': 'Immigrants ... deserve better'

A freshman congressman from Florida demonstrated his disapproval of an immigration reform bill by suggesting that Republicans who support the bill might as well pass another bill to tear down the Statue of Liberty while they were at it.On Wednesday‚ Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) gave a theatrical show during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing to slam H.R. 2‚ better known as the Secure the Border Act of 2023. Frost called the bill and others like it "bigoted."With a picture of the Statue of Liberty propped up on an easel behind him‚ Frost made an impassioned speech‚ implying that immigrants have a right to feel "welcome" in America and claiming that those who want to enforce immigration laws and protect the southern border are "peddling hate.""My colleagues from the other side of the aisle‚ let’s be honest with immigrants who deserve better than what you’re offering them. Don’t welcome immigrants if you plan to reject them‚" Frost said. Then‚ Frost said that he had written an alternative bill that would propose tearing down the Statue of Liberty as well."If you keep pushing your bigoted H.R. 2 bill‚ then also pass this bill. I’ve taken the liberty of drafting it for you‚" he continued‚ waving a piece of paper about while an assistant flipped the picture on the easel to show an empty pedastal with just a shadow of Lady Liberty on top of it."This is who you are‚ removing the fabric of America. S‚ I want to know which Republican who supports and voted for H.R.2 will introduce this bill. If you’re gonna support H.R.2 and these bigoted measures‚ the least you can do is not be a d*mn liar." — (@) As might be expected‚ many on social media panned Frost's hyperbole and questioned his patriotism and even his intellect."They hate America‚" wrote actor Matthew Marsden‚ who is a naturalized U.S. citizen."Democrats just keep sending the lowest IQ people possible to congress. This dude makes AOC and Maxine Waters look like Einstein and Hawking‚" added a user purporting to be a "combat vet." Others humorously noted the disconnect between Frost's fake proposal and the left's recent history regarding American statues."There’s only one party in this country that wants to tear down statues‚ and it’s not Republicans‚" quipped RealClearInvestigations senior writer Mark Hemingway."Democrats can’t decide if they want to topple statues or have them make our laws for us‚" joked conservative commentator Ryan James Girdusky.Like Blaze News? Parents of boy suspended for wearing 'warrior paint' at football game sue principal and superintendent

Parents of boy suspended for wearing 'warrior paint' at football game sue principal and superintendent

An eighth-grade student in La Jolla‚ California‚ attended a high school football game in his free time on Oct. 13. In an effort to emulate his sports heroes‚ he donned warrior paint on his cheeks‚ temples‚ and chin. According to the principal of his school‚ this common practice amounted to a "hate incident" — at least when executed by this particular child. The principal reportedly banned the 13-year-old from attending San Diego Unified School District sporting events for the remainder of the year and suspended him from school for two days‚ accusing him of hatred with "intent to harm." In an effort to clear the boy's name‚ the Ameduri family is now suing Muirlands Middle School Principal Jeffrey Luna and Lamont Jackson‚ the superintendent of the SDUSD who denied the boy's suspension appeal. The boy's family has demanded a jury trial. Painting a child as a villain Blaze News previously reported that the boy‚ referred to as J.A. in court documents‚ donned the face paint for a game between La Jolla High School and Morse High School. The Center for American Liberty indicated the boy wasn't alone: "Several other students put eye black in various designs on their faces." According to the lawsuit‚ the boy's intent "in having his friend paint Warrior eye black on his face was to show spirit for the football team along with the many other fans in attendance. He was not familiar with the concept of 'blackface' at the time he put on the Warrior eye black. He had no intent to mimic or mock anyone when he donned the Warrior eye black‚ nor did he engage in any behavior that could be characterized as mimicking or mocking Black people while wearing it." — (@) The game was not sponsored or affiliated with J.A.'s school. Even if it was‚ the lawsuit further noted that the SDUSD has not rules or policies barring fans from wearing eye black or face paint at games. "It was a normal day‚ everything was normal. No one said anything. It was a normal football game and La Jolla won‚" the boy's father‚ Daniel Ameduri‚ told "Fox &; Friends" Wednesday. "I used to go to a lot of football games when I lived in Texas‚ and I used to play football and sometimes we put that on if one of the kids brought it." "Then the following Monday‚ Tuesday‚ nothing‚" continued Ameduri. "Wednesday afternoon the principal called J.A. into the office‚ and the next morning my wife and I showed up and he said‚ 'He did blackface‚' and he was suspended for two days and was gonna be banned from sports." The suspension notice said the boy "painted his face black at a football game" and categorized it as a "Hate Incident" with the "intent to harm." Ameduri recalled having showed the principal‚ Jeffrey Luna‚ a photograph of his boy in an effort to "vindicate" his son‚ but that did not sway Luna‚ who allegedly responded‚ "No‚ that's blackface." — (@) Clearing his name The family filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California Tuesday‚ accusing Luna and SDUSD superintendent Jackson of violating J.A.'s First Amendment rights‚ his right of due process‚ and the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause. The complaint noted that J.A. was within his constitutional rights when wearing eye black "to show spirit" at the game — constitutional rights students "do not shed ... at the schoolhouse gate." By punishing J.A. "for his protected speech‚ Principal Luna and the SDUSD Office of Placement and Appeals exhibited oppression‚ malice‚ gross negligence‚ willful or wanton misconduct‚ and/or a reckless disregard for J.A.'s civil right‚" said the lawsuit. Furthermore‚ by suspending J.A. alone for wearing the "warrior eye black‚" the complaint suggests Luna and other defendants "intentionally treated J.A. differently from other similarly situated football fans at the Game ... among them Muirlands students‚ who were at the Game wearing eye black and face paint as their situations were directly comparable in all material respects." "J.A. was irrationally singled out for punishment‚" according to the complaint. The family wants J.A.'s sporting-event ban lifted; his disciplinary record pertaining to the incident expunged; a declaration on the part of the principal and superintendent that the actions taken against the boy violated his constitutional rights; and damages‚ in an amount to be determined at trial. Karin Sweigart‚ a First Amendment specialist at the Dhillon Law Group who is representing J.A.‚ told KFMB-TV why the success of the suit is critical: "[J.A.] might have to not only have short-term ramifications; he would have to have this on his student records when he's applying for high schools. But also‚ potentially‚ this could come up with colleges with future job applications." Sweigart wrote on X‚"Cheering at a football game is not blackface‚ and school administrators saying an innocent child committed an act of 'hate violence' with no investigation and no evidence to support the claim is despicable." "As an attorney‚ I have been dealing with in an alarming number of situations clients calling me with similar things. And these school districts need to stop. They need to stop throwing innocent children under the bus‚" added Sweigart. Late last year‚ liberal sports blog Deadspin vilified a 9-year-old Native American boy who turned up at a Kansas City Chiefs game with his face painted in the colors of his favorite team‚ accusing him of racial hatred. Blaze News reported that following a lawsuit threat from the boy's parents‚ Deadspin partially amended its reports. Like Blaze News? AMD nearing new record‚ but gamers might not like the news

What a whirlwind week it has been for AMD. Not only has it had to compete with the release of the Nvidia RTX 40-series Super cards and the competitive pricing‚ but it also revealed a brand new GPU and a new range of gaming CPUs. While AMD might be known for releasing some of the best graphics cards‚ alongside some of the best gaming CPUs‚ neither played a role in the recent spike in stock value. Instead‚ we have another situation like the one Nvidia found itself in last year‚ where this newfound momentum is all down to AI. A new petition to save Team Fortress 2 has accumulated almost 30‚000 signatures in less than seven days‚ and calls on Valve to “do something” about the classic FPS game‚ which the petition says is now “unplayable.” Originally released in 2007‚ TF2 remains immensely popular on Steam‚ but is perceived as comparatively neglected alongside other Valve games such as Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. We’ve seen this 8K 120Hz gaming monitor and life won’t be the same

Forget your fancy OLEDs‚ LCD is still king based on this TCL IGZO miniLED display we just saw. This monitor might only be 27-inches in size but it packs in an astonishing 8K resolution along with a 5000 miniLED backlight. Combined they make for eye- and brain-boggling levels of image quality‚ that sadly most of us will never - or not for a long while - get the chance to see. While realistically this display won't be a contender for our best gaming monitor guide‚ with a 120Hz refresh rate it would still deliver smooth enough gaming for anything outside of competitive FPS and racing sims. Combined with its amazing contrast‚ true blacks‚ and ludicrous 326ppi pixel density‚ our time viewing it at CES 2024 showed it would be the ultimate screen for immersing yourself in the stunning visuals of the latest AAA games.
