Matt Walsh: ‘Insane’ DEI Push Lowers Airline Standards

The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh laid bare the perverse logic of diversity‚ equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives‚ especially in air travel.  Walsh panned a Federal Aviation Administration Diversity and Inclusion hiring initiative during the Jan. 15 edition of The Matt Walsh Show‚ arguing for hiring the most qualified people regardless of their race or gender to avoid lowering standards. Walsh said that companies inevitably lower standards when they prioritize getting more of a group of people rather than finding the people with the highest qualifications. Walsh made clear that pursuing diversity equity and inclusion necessarily “means the standards are going down‚” dismissing the ideology as “insane on many levels.” Walsh went on to give free advice to the airlines: the racial or gender makeup of a qualified group of employees is “not a problem that needs to be solved.” He added‚ “As long as you’re bringing in the most qualified people — whatever the demographic makeup happens to be at the end of that — [it] doesn’t matter. It's not a problem … “As long as race is not taken into account at all‚ and you’re just hiring the best people.”  Earlier in the show‚ Walsh avoided popular leftist strawmen by carefully explaining the difference between being open to all qualified employees and discriminating against qualified employees to increase the representation of a group of people.  Walsh played a 2022 Axios interview with United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby to illustrate how DEI pushes demographic considerations. In the interview‚ the feckless CEO groveled before a leftist interviewer asking him to confess his sins against diversity.  Walsh went on to mock Kirby for embracing DEI discrimination. Walsh used the arguments of DEI proponents attacking air travel as a predominantly white field to mock and discredit their wish to discriminate against white employees.  Walsh said‚ “The people that have made air travel into the safest form of travel that’s ever existed—the form of travel where you’re 35‚000 feet in the air and going 400 miles per hour and that’s the safest? And the people who predominantly achieved that are white males. And how do we thank them? Let’s get them out of [there].” Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News (818) 460-7477‚ CBS News (212) 975-3247 and NBC News (212) 664-6192 and demand they report on the dangers of leftist DEI ideology infecting corporate America

Zakaria Claims Israel Will Have 'Shame And Regret' Over War With Hamas

A pretentious and very solemn Fareed Zakaria falsely accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday of waging war against Hamas in order to save his political career and warned that if Israel and its friends do not change course soon it will look back “with shame and regret” on how it has conducted itself post-October 7. Zakaria claimed that “This military campaign is being perpetrated by a deeply unpopular government in Jerusalem that is trying to salvage its reputation. Polls since the start of this conflict have shown that most of the Israeli public has lost faith in Prime Minister Netanyahu. A poll that came out last week found that only 15 percent of those surveyed wanted Bibi Netanyahu to keep his job after the war‚ 69 percent wanted elections as soon as the war ends.”     According to Zakaria that means that “It is awkward to note this‚ but Prime Minister Netanyahu has every incentive to keep the military campaign going in the hope that his day of reckoning can be postponed if not put off indefinitely. Having bungled the strategy toward Hamas before the war‚ he is trying to use maximum force now as political compensation.” Zakaria‚ almost certainly deliberately‚ omits that Netanyahu’s rival‚ Benny Gantz‚ joined the war cabinet because in Israel this war is not a partisan issue and as Gantz knows‚ wars sometimes take time. The infamous plagiarizer continued‚ “Israel is a democracy and an open society‚ and precisely because of that‚ it will one day have to ask itself whether it acted appropriately in the heat of its anger and sorrow after October 7th. Friends of Israel should help it ask those questions now so that it does not look back on this episode with shame and regret.” The only way Israel will look back with regret is if it terminates the war prematurely with Hamas still in power. Here is a transcript for the January 14 show: CNN Fareed Zakaria GPS 1/14/2024 10:05 AM ET FAREED ZAKARIA: This military campaign is being perpetrated by a deeply unpopular government in Jerusalem that is trying to salvage its reputation. ABC‚ NBC Ignore Media’s Election Interference in Iowa; CBS Admits There Must ‘Be a Better Way’

Before many Iowa caucus sites even had attendees cast their ballots‚ most national news organizations projected former President Trump as the winner‚ leading to cries of election interference (despite most admitting that was already going to be the outcome)‚ particularly from the campaign of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). Early Tuesday‚ CBS Mornings and co-host Tony Dokoupil went against the grain and‚ unlike ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today‚ acknowledged the early call and conceded “there’s got to be a better way” for news organizations to make sure projections.     Dokoupil tossed from Iowa back to his co-hosts in New York in the first half-hour with that observation‚ saying he had “to point…out” that “the decision last night by the AP‚ many news organizations‚ including CBS‚ to project a win for Donald Trump just 30 minutes into the night‚ while some people were still caucusing — most people were still caucusing‚ it did not go well – it didn’t – did not go over well inside the site where I was.” To give the other side of the coin‚ Dokoupil explained what news organizations – including his own – have argued as their rationale: “[O]ur call was because of information that we share with other news organizations that is gathered by the precinct pool reporters who go in person to caucus sites. They poll Iowans as they enter about who they're going to vote for. We vet the information‚ and then we make the call‚ that projection.” Dokoupil set that aside to continue with his lament that‚ while some had “caucused already‚” others hadn’t formally cast ballots yet and such was the case at the site he covered where “news alerts started going off on people's phones” even though “no one had‚ in fact‚ cast a ballot”. Not surprisingly‚ Dokoupil relayed‚ such a move “just all the energy drained out of the room.” While a Trump blowout was a foregone conclusion‚ it’s no surprise that the press don’t have any remorse about possibly depressing the true intentions of voters if‚ say‚ they were contemplating a vote for one of the other candidates. This led to Dokopuil’s main frustration and closing thought: “I have to say‚ there's got to be a better way to do it than that.” Co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King replayed that she “was wondering that exact same thing” when watching Monday night’s coverage. Whether it was time running out or he just didn’t care‚ pompous fill-in host John Dickerson pivoted away by thanking Dokoupil for being “in the room to report that”. To see the relevant transcript from January 16‚ click “expand.” CBS Mornings [via Houston’s KHOU] January 16‚ 2024 8:13 a.m. Eastern TONY DOKOUPIL: Guys in New York‚ as I send it back to you‚ I do have to point something out. Not for nothing‚ the decision last night by the AP‚ many news organizations‚ including CBS‚ to project a win for Donald Trump just 30 minutes into the night‚ while some people were still caucusing — most people were still caucusing‚ it did not go well – it didn’t – did not go over well inside the site where I was. I wanted to get some more information‚ and I did. So‚ based on what I know here‚ our call was because of information that we share with other news organizations that is gathered by the precinct pool reporters who go in person to caucus sites. They poll Iowans as they enter about who they're going to vote for. We vet the information‚ and then we make the call‚ that projection. While there is a process and many – many did have – you know‚ many had caucused already‚ and the caucuses had begun statewide‚ it meant that‚ in my particular location‚ and this is true for other locations‚ as well‚ no one had‚ in fact‚ cast a ballot when news alerts started going off on people's phones. And just all the energy drained out of the room. And it – I have to say‚ there's got to be a better way to do it than that. NATE BURLESON: Hmm. GAYLE KING: I was thinking that exact same thing‚ sitting watching it at my kitchen table. How do we call it so early when people still haven't even written down their – their ballots yet? I was wondering that exact same thing. JOHN DICKERSON: And we're very lucky you were in the room – KING: Yeah. DICKERSON: – to report that – DOKOUPIL: Yeah. DICKERSON: – Tony.

NY Times Hates Political Violence -- Except It Oozes (Again) for 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline'

NY Times Hates Political Violence -- Except It Oozes (Again) for 'How to Blow Up a Pipeline'

On November 3‚ 2022 -- right before the midterms -- the New York Times Editorial Board produced a long article titled "America Can Have Democracy or Political Violence. Not Both."  But they don't really believe that.  Sunday’s New York Times Magazine ran a bizarre‚ almost Freudian interview from the environmental violence fringe‚ “How This Climate Activist Justifies Political Violence.” Talk page columnist David Marchese tied to Swedish professor Andreas Malm’s follow-up‚ “Overshoot: How the World Surrendered to Climate Breakdown‚” It was a strange‚ cringeworthy interview where both sides revealed rather too much of their own personal demons. Marchese conveniently cited favorable mainstream press coverage‚ including in the Times itself‚  to justify boosting Malm’s latest violent manifesto. The eco-terrorist himself wrote an op-ed in support of Van Gogh vandals for the paper‚ an appearance both irresponsible and hypocritical‚ given the paper’s embarrassing internal hysterics over an op-ed by Sen. Tom Cotton that advocated deploying the military to quell the George Floyd riots that supposedly posed a danger to the paper’s black staffers. The best one can say is that Marchese isn’t as supportive of Malm’s tactics as some previous reporters and gives the eco-terrorist author plenty of rope. But one certainly didn’t expect the Times interviewer to plead “Give me a reason to live.” Twice. Marchese: With the 2021 publication of his unsettling book‚ How to Blow Up a Pipeline‚ Andreas Malm established himself as a leading thinker of climate radicalism….The book found an audience far beyond that of texts typically published by relatively obscure Marxist-influenced Swedish academics‚ earning thoughtful coverage in The New Yorker‚ The Economist‚ The Nation‚ The New Republic and a host of other decidedly nonradical publications‚ including this one…. Marchese added: It’s hard for me to think of a realm outside of climate where mainstream publications would be engaging with someone‚ like you‚ who advocates political violence. Why are people open to this conversation? Perhaps because it’s appearing with the imprimatur of the New York Times? One of Marchese’s pretentious sidebar footnotes provided a caveat: “Just to be explicit about this: Malm does not endorse or advocate any political violence that targets people. His aim is violence against property.” Slashing tires doesn’t target people? Marchese: How confident are you that when you open the door to political violence‚ it stays at the level of property and not people? You’ve written about the need to be careful‚ but the emotions that come with violence are not careful emotions. Malm: Political history is replete with movements that have conducted sabotage without taking the next step. But the risk is there. One driver of that risk is that the climate crisis itself is exacerbating all the time. It’s hard-wired to get worse. So people might well get more desperate. Now‚ in the current situation‚ in every instance that I know of‚ climate movements that experiment with sabotage steer clear of deliberately targeting people. We might smash things‚ which people are doing here and there‚ but no one is seriously considering that you should get a gun and shoot people…. Thanks‚ we guess? Marchese’s psyche was overwhelmed and he pleaded with Malm: “Could you give me a reason to live?” In a footnote Marchese admitted: “I just blurted this out. I don’t even think Malm’s pessimism is wrong‚ but I find it suffocating. People need hope.” Things got positively Freudian as Malm explained: “I had a vicious Oedipal conflict with my father….” Malm was cagey when asked if he “actually engaged in property destruction‚” responding‚ “There are things that I have done when it comes to militant activism recently that I‚ as a matter of principle and political expediency‚ do not reveal.”

MSNBC Blames 'Ever Developing Technology' For Media's Premature Iowa Calls

On Tuesday’s installment of MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports‚ the eponymous host defended the media’s decision to project Donald Trump as the winner of the Iowa Caucus even before all precincts and started voting by claiming voters couldn’t change what they were going to do. Meanwhile‚ correspondent Vaughn Hillyard blamed modern technology for the media’s decision as if it was somehow compelled to make the call. Mitchell began‚ “Vaughn‚ let's talk about last night. The DeSantis campaign‚ they cried foul after the Iowa results were called before all the precinct halls wrapped up caucusing‚ but as you know better than anyone‚ when people walk into those halls‚ they are locked and voters can't‚ you know‚ change what they're going to do.”     What is Mitchell talking about? At each precinct site a campaign representative gives a short speech to voters arguing why their candidate is the best. Announcing the winner before this process even starts can be demoralizing and to lead people either leaving or changing their votes because the sense of inevitability can overwhelm genuine preference. However‚ Hillyard didn’t see what the problem was‚ “Right‚ there was frustration last night that some precincts take longer to do their caucus than others. What happened last night was not only were folks answering questions at the entrance polls coming in and media organizations were using those entrance polls along with some of the early precincts and early results coming out of them to determine Donald Trump was well on his way to securing this Iowa victory.” As he continued‚ Hillyard almost got it‚ “That led to numerous organizations making the calls and we heard not only from our reporting team on the ground at several of those caucus sites but also from the DeSantis campaign‚ frustration that some folks were getting notification that Donald Trump had been declared the winner of Iowa yet had yet to take part in their own local precinct caucus.” Ultimately‚ however‚ Hillyard laid the blame with technology‚ “And‚ so‚ you know‚ this is part of the caucus process and part of the ever developing technology and the frustrations that come with both of those.” Modern technology was not the reason why the media refused to wait a few more minutes until voting across the state began‚ it was the desire to be first and then to not be left behind. Hillyard‚ however‚ repeated his earlier point that it didn’t really matter‚ “Andrea‚ for Donald Trump‚ clearly though‚ he was well on his way to victory despite any notifications that anybody was getting on their phone here.” That Trump was going to win by a wide margin regardless is not the point. The media should not be projecting races before voting even starts in several places across the state.  Here is a transcript for the January 16 show: MSNBC Andrea Mitchell Reports 1/16/2024 12:05 PM ET ANDREA MITCHELL: Vaughn‚ let's talk about last night. The DeSantis campaign‚ they cried foul after the Iowa results were called before all the precinct halls wrapped up caucusing‚ but as you know better than anyone‚ when people walk into those halls‚ they are locked and voters can't‚ you know‚ change what they're going to do.  VAUGHN HILLYARD: Right‚ there was frustration last night that some precincts take longer to do their caucus than others. What happened last night was not only were folks answering questions at the entrance polls coming in and media organizations were using those entrance polls along with some of the early precincts and early results coming out of them to determine Donald Trump was well on his way to securing this Iowa victory.  That led to numerous organizations making the calls and we heard not only from our reporting team on the ground at several of those caucus sites but also from the DeSantis campaign‚ frustration that some folks were getting notification that Donald Trump had been declared the winner of Iowa yet had yet to take part in their own local precinct caucus.  And‚ so‚ you know‚ this is part of the caucus process and part of the ever developing technology and the frustrations that come with both of those. Andrea‚ for Donald Trump‚ clearly though‚ he was well on his way to victory despite any notifications that anybody was getting on their phone here.

Video: Race-baiting leftist Joy Reid dumps all over 'white Christians' for backing Trump amid Iowa caucuses

Far-left MSNBC host Joy Reid smeared "white Christians" for their support of former President Donald Trump amid the Iowa caucuses‚ which he ended up winning handily Monday night. What are the details?Reid sat on a pundit panel commenting on the caucus results and condescendingly interjected a "data point" regarding Iowa voters that "these are white Christians" before adding that "this is a state that is over-represented by white Christians" and — if her bias wasn't clear enough already — that "this is a hyper-evangelical white state."She went on to say that Robbie Jones of the Public Religion Research Institute told her earlier in the day that "Iowa is about 61% white Christian; the country as a whole is approximately 41% white Christian."Reid noted that "in Iowa‚ we're talking about evangelical white Christians" — putting notable verbal emphasis on the letter "e" in "evangelical" as if it were a put-down.She said she asked Jones‚ "'What do they get out of supporting Donald Trump? Because he keeps losing; he keeps delivering losses and losses and losses.' And he said the following: 'They see themselves as the rightful inheritors of this country‚ and Trump has promised to give it back to them.’"Then Reid piled on: "All the things that we think about‚ about electability ... none of that matters when you believe that God has given you this country‚ that it is yours‚ and that everyone who is not a white‚ conservative Christian is a fraudulent American‚ is a less real American. Then you don’t care about electability. You care about what God has given you." — (@) Fox News reported that later in the night Reid had more to say on the subject: "It is religion‚ and I think what we have to actually confront — and this is what the Democrats are going to face — is this is now what white evangelicalism is. It is Christian nationalism. That’s the name of it‚ right?"The news network added that Reid also said "white evangelical Christians of a certain mindset" believe "that they own this country‚ that immigrants‚ that brown people‚ that Hindus like Vivek Ramaswamy and his wife‚ are illegitimate Americans. They are less legitimate Americans than they are."Fox News also reported that Reid said‚ "They’re not trying to convince people and win people over through politics. What they’re saying is‚ ‘We own this country‚ and everyone will bow down to us.’"Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. FAA blasted for pushing to hire those with 'severe intellectual' disabilities and 'psychiatric' issues

The Federal Aviation Administration is facing steep backlash after it announced it would actively seek out workers with "severe intellectual" disabilities and "psychiatric" issues. The FAA's website says‚ "Because diversity is so critical‚ FAA actively supports and engages in a variety of associations‚ programs‚ coalitions and initiatives to support and accommodate employees from diverse communities and backgrounds."However‚ it appears not all politicians are on board with the new initiative. Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (N.J.)‚ who currently serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee‚ told Fox News Digital that "all I ask is that the FAA hire individuals based on who is most qualified for the position and who will best protect our airspace‚ ensuring that we are all safe.""That is the job of the FAA; it is not their job to be politically correct."Dr. Stanley Goldfarb‚ chair of Do No Harm‚ said the aviation industry has the same responsibility as the medical field‚ which is to care for people."The aviation industry has a responsibility for traveler safety just as the health care industry has a responsibility for patient safety‚" Goldfarb said. "These responsibilities outweigh other factors when considering applicants to work in those fields. People with disabilities who can successfully complete the task should never face discrimination‚" said Goldfarb‚ a retired professor and the former associate dean for curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.Goldfarb went on to say that it was "unfortunate" identity politics has gotten in the way‚ adding that diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion efforts are "creating opportunities for so-called oppressed groups by lowering standards for entry into those fields and thereby endangering the safety of those which it’s designed to serve. Some endeavors simply do not lend themselves to identity politics."Elon Musk posted to X: "Just had a conversation with some smart people could not believe this is happening."X account "Libs of TikTok" posted: "People with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities will be in charge of your air travel because of diversity quotas. DEI will get people killed." — (@) Blaze News previously reported how the FAA is in hot water after recent revelations that included an Alaska Airlines flight that was made to make an emergency landing after a section of the aircraft blew off mid-flight.The report noted that during the flight‚ a section of the aircraft's fuselage fell off‚ which included the panel's window. Fani Willis appears to have fibbed in church when contesting preferential treatment of her alleged lover

Fani Willis appears to have fibbed in church when contesting preferential treatment of her alleged lover

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has begun to reap the whirlwind over a number of improprieties she is alleged to have committed in recent months and years. Willis went to church Sunday‚ but rather than confess to sin‚ she stressed her virtue in a dramatized back-and-forth with God. The trouble about Willis' testimonial before God is that it does not appear to have been entirely honest. During her remarks at Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta Sunday‚ Willis claimed that she paid all three special counsels on the Trump election interference case in Georgia at the same rate. Documents reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation appear to indicate otherwise. What's the background? A motion to disqualify Willis and her appointee‚ Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade‚ was filed on behalf of Michael Roman‚ a co-defendant in the Trump case‚ on Jan. 8. The motion accused Willis of being embroiled in "an improper‚ clandestine personal relationship" with Wade‚ a married attorney she later hired without the approval of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. Wade — whose apparent lack of relevant experience and past failures to become a Cobb County Superior Court judge evidently did not deter Willis from appointing him — filed for divorce the day after starting his contract as a prosecutor on the Georgia case‚ which has since reportedly earned him nearly $700‚000. The motion further claims that Wade‚ whose payments Willis authorizes‚ paid for his lover's luxurious international and domestic vacations‚ possibly running afoul of the federal racketeering statute. The author of the motion‚ Roman's defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant‚ recently indicated she has "multiple sources to corroborate" the claims‚ specifically those concerning Willis' affair with Wade. Extra to the affair‚ the motion highlighted how Willis and Wade met with elements of the Biden White House and Jan. 6 committee while building their case against former President Donald Trump — suggestive of possible politically motivated coordination between the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and top Democrats seeking to incarcerate their leading rival. The judge overseeing Trump's election interference case in Georgia indicated there could be a hearing in February to examine the allegations brought against Willis‚ reported Just the News. Tall tales and victimhood Following days of silence concerning the motion to disqualify and the damning allegations therein‚ Willis took the podium Sunday at a church in Atlanta and issued a 35-minute screed. Blaze News previously reported that she ultimately cast herself as the victim of racial animus and denounced her critics as "race card"-playing bigots. Willis did not explicitly deny the allegations recently leveled against her. Instead‚ the Democrat defended against alternate accusations she appears to have fabricated from whole cloth. "I'm a little confused. I appointed three special counselors. It's my right to do. Paid them all the same hourly rate. They only attacked one‚" said Willis. "I hired one white woman‚ a good personal friend and a great lawyer; a superstar‚ I tell you. I hired one white man — brilliant — my friend and a great lawyer. And I hired one Black man‚ another superstar‚ a great friend and a great lawyer." Merchant said of Willis' speech‚ "Nothing she said today changes any of the important arguments raised in our motion and does not change the unfortunate facts surrounding her appointment of Wade‚" reported the New York Times. After all‚ the key contention in the motion to disqualify was not that Wade was paid more or less than his peers‚ but that he allegedly bedded his would-be boss‚ then‚ once under her employ‚ used taxpayer funds to take her on extravagant vacations. Nevertheless‚ Willis' rebuke to the phantasmal accusation exposed her to additional scrutiny — granted she did ostensibly pay Wade more than one of the other special counsels. The lover's premium The Daily Caller obtained the professional services agreements between Willis' office and two of her special counsels: Wade‚ previously a middling associate municipal court judge in Marietta‚ and John Floyd‚ one of Georgia's top experts on federal and state Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statutes. Floyd entered into a contract with Willis' office on March 10‚ 2021‚ at an hourly rate of $150 per hour. Wade entered into a contract with Willis' office in Nov. 1‚ 2021‚ at an hourly rate of $250 per hour. This additional $100 per hour would likely go a long way on the Norweigan and Royal Carribean cruise lines‚ in New York City‚ Napa Valley‚ Florida‚ and other destinations Wade is alleged to have taken his supposed lover. The third special counsel‚ Anna Cross‚ who entered into a contract with Fulton County at an hourly rate of $250 on July 15‚ 2022‚ ultimately ended up making as much as Wade per hour. The one exception nevertheless casts doubt on Willis' claim in church that she "paid them all the same hourly rate. Keith Adams‚ an Atlanta defense attorney who recently represented rapper Jeffery Lamar Williams in the RICO case brought against him‚ told the Caller‚ "Obviously the appropriate fee paid to special counsel would depend on the subject matter‚ the level of complexity‚ the level of expertise required‚ the level of experience of the attorney‚ and to some extent‚ the funds available to pay said attorney." "It may be that the special counsel is being paid from a completely separate budget that is not subject to the same budgetary limitations and is left to the discretion of the district attorney‚" said Adams. Legal analyst Philip Holloway wasn't buying it‚ stressing the arrangement between Wade and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office "is unheard of in Georgia" and that there was "no basis for comparison." "Court-appointed criminal defense lawyers around here typically make less than $100 per hour on felony cases‚" said Holloway. "It could be argued that any amount is too high to pay someone with no felony trial experience to come in as lead counsel in the biggest‚ most complex criminal case in the history of Georgia." The Caller indicated neither Willis' office nor Wade responded to requests for comment. Like Blaze News? Federal judge rules guns cannot be banned from the post office

A federal judge in Florida ruled it unconstitutional to bar people from possessing firearms in post offices. The judge cited a Supreme Court ruling from 2022 as precedent.Using the landmark decision from N.Y. State Rifle &; Pistol Ass’n v. Bruen‚ U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle dismissed part of a recent indictment of a postal worker who was charged with illegally possessing a gun in a federal facility. According to Reuters‚ Mizelle said the charge violated the man's right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment."A blanket restriction on firearms possession in post offices is incongruent with the American tradition of firearms regulation‚" the judge's decision read. The Trump-appointed judge also noted that the accused's gun possession did not violate restrictions placed upon on firearms in federal facilities."On average‚ the decisions made by post office employees are far from the weighty subject matter of elections or the legislative process. True‚ during the short window of time before an election‚ some post offices may receive mail-in ballots‚ making them more analogous to polling places. But even polling places were not protected indefinitely; instead‚ restrictions were tailored to the date of an election‚" Mizelle explained."That makes sense given the legal reason for these regulations — to prevent intimidation or interference with important government decisions."However‚ the judge reportedly did not dismiss a different charge for forcibly resisting arrest.Emmanuel Ayala‚ a United States Postal Service truck driver‚ carried a Smith &; Wesson handgun for self-defense‚ according to his lawyers. The Daily Caller also reported that he kept it in a fanny pack and also had a concealed weapons permit.According to prosecutors‚ Ayala allegedly brought the pistol onto the Postal Service grounds in 2012 and fled in attempt to avoid federal agents. Ayala was charged under a statute that prohibits possessing a firearm in a federal facility‚ which includes a post office‚ but Judge Mizelle disagreed that a post office was constitutionally protected."The first prohibition on firearms possession in government buildings was not codified until 1964. ... And the first regulation specifically banning arms on post office property was codified in 1972‚" the judge continued."There is no evidence that Congress ever sought to address intimidation at post offices with firearms bans."The judge went on to declare that "with respect to firearms regulation on government property‚ that legal principle cannot be used to abridge the right to bear arms by regulating it into practical non-existence."Like Blaze News?
