A Nation Dr. King Would Not Recognize

This year‚ 2024‚ marks the 60th anniversary of the signing into law of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act. Soon we observe the national day set aside to note and honor the leader of the movement that led to that act becoming law: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We must ask how‚ after 60 years‚ with vast changes in the world‚ with developments in technology unimaginable 60 years ago‚ that we remain obsessed with race. How is it that claims of racism‚ injustice and unfairness persist like nothing happened? Indeed‚ data suggest that Black Americans‚ on average‚ still lag behind economically. The Federal Reserve recently published its Survey of Consumer Finances showing that average Black family income is 43% that of white families. In 1989‚ it was 42%. Average Black household net worth now is 15.6% that of white households. In 1989‚ it was 17.8%. The deterioration of traditional religious values in the country has taken a toll on all American families. But proportionally more on Black families. Per the U.S. Department of Justice‚ Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention‚ in 2022‚ 43% of Black children lived in a two-parent home — down 26.5% from 1970. Among white children‚ 75.6% lived in a two-parent home‚ down 15.5% from 1970. America today is a far different country than the one where King led the Civil Rights Movement. The language that King used to lead and animate his movement was the language of the Bible. He spoke as a pastor. But in 1965‚ according to Gallup‚ 70% of Americans said religion is “very important” in their life. In 2023‚ 45% of Americans say religion is “very important” in their life. 20 Most Expensive Watches in the World: $11 Million and Higher In the last speech of his life in 1968‚ in Memphis‚ Tennessee‚ King spoke about “injustice‚” that “we are God’s children.” He spoke about not being afraid of death‚ that “I just want to do God’s will‚” and then spoke those famous words that he’d been “to the mountain top” and that he’d seen “the promised land.” “I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.” Can anyone imagine a leader of a major political or social movement today speaking this way? Over these 60 years since the Civil Rights Act became law‚ courts took the Bible and prayer out of public schools‚ legalized abortion and changed our legal understanding of what defines marriage. The godless socialism of DEI — diversity‚ equity‚ inclusion — has replaced good and evil as our perspective on social justice. As we have purged religion and replaced it with politics‚ we have lost the core of a religious world view. There is good and evil‚ and the Creator gave free choice and personal responsibility to choose to each individual. Without this‚ the freedom we allegedly care so much about has little meaning. Government has become our new religion. In 1964‚ federal spending took 17.3% of our GDP. Today it takes 24.4%. In 1964‚ gross federal debt equaled 46.2% of our GDP. Today it equals 119.8%. It is an unfortunate quirk of history that the Civil Rights Movement‚ led by a Black Christian pastor‚ reached its peak at the moment when Americans decided to start banishing the Bible from our culture. A movement informed by good and evil and personal responsibility has been replaced by politics‚ interest groups and victimhood. The community most hurt by the purge of personal responsibility that defines individual freedom is the one that started out the weakest and the greatest victim of our moral failures. Without a new birth of faith‚ we for sure will not have a new birth of freedom in America. The whole nation and our future are in danger. And the weakest‚ those whom the socialists claim to care the most about‚ will suffer the most. ‘Incredibly Disingenuous’; KJP Explodes When Doocy Asks If Joe Knew About Hunter’s Stunt

Wednesday’s White House press briefing saw a predictable drop-off in hardballs on the latest Biden administration scandal of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin going MIA for days with what he later revealed were a series of hospital stays for colon cancer. Thankfully‚ there were a smattering of questions about Hunter Biden’s latest D.C. stunt as he appeared in-person for a House Oversight Committee hearing to discuss holding him in contempt of Congress. Fox’s Peter Doocy was in the thicket of it. After two questions about whether President Biden cares more about illegal immigrants than Americans since a New York City school briefly went virtual to serve as a shelter‚ Doocy asked the ever-inept Karine Jean-Pierre to be honest: “And — and Hunter Biden on Capitol Hill today. How big of a headache is that for you?” Jean-Pierre played up the “private citizen” excuse‚ arguing he’s “not a member of the White House‚ as you know‚ and I just don’t have anything else to share.” Doocy really got to the heart of the matter with his next statement: “But the last time he was on the Hill‚ you said the President was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say.” Jean-Pierre confirmed she said that‚ but didn’t go any further as Doocy interjected with this scorcher: “So‚ the official line that President Biden does not help him with his business deals‚ but he does help him skirt congressional subpoenas?” Doocy: “But the last time he was on the Hill‚ you said the President was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say. KJP: “I did say that and here’s — and what —” Doocy: “So‚ the official line that —” KJP: “— I’m saying today —” Doocy: “— President Biden — KJP: “—… pic.twitter.com/LJri8MqsjS — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 10‚ 2024 This left the press secretary incensed: “That is not even true. That — that is a jump that is — that is incredibly disingenuous in that question.” Doocy countered she should then “help us out”‚ but Jean-Pierre insisted she was by saying she didn’t “have anything else to share.” While on the topic of Doocy‚ his wife and Fox Business correspondent Hillary Vaughn hounded Hunter Biden as he left the hearing room: MRS. DOOCY TIME: “Mr. Biden‚ why did you put your dad on speakerphone when he had nothing to do with your business? You put him on speakerphone multiple times to talk to your business partners? Why — why did you do that?” Hunter Biden: “[INAUDIBLE]...I've got [INAUDIBLE] problem… pic.twitter.com/9Ad5dRRZKD — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 10‚ 2024 Prior to Doocy‚ CBS’s Nancy Cordes had the first Hunter question and wondered if “the White House” knew “in advance that Hunter Biden would be showing up at the House Oversight Committee is hearing on Capitol Hill today.” This made sense since‚ back on December 13‚ Jean-Pierre admitted President Joe Biden knew in advance what Hunter would say when he spoke before cameras outside the Capitol instead of testifying about his life of ruin. Jean-Pierre offered a whole lot of nothing‚ which would lead one to suspect the White House did know about Hunter’s public taunting (click “expand”): JEAN-PIERRE: So here’s what I’ll say. And I’ve said this many times before: Hunter as you all know‚ as a private citizen. He’s not a member of this White House. He makes his own decisions like he did today about how to respond to Congress. And so‚ I would refer you any further questions‚ any additional questions about — about this process — certainly‚ to — I refer you to Hunter’s representatives.” CORDES: Fully grant you that he makes his own decisions‚ but my question was about whether the White House was informed in advance?  JEAN-PIERRE: I would just — again‚ I’ve — I would say that I don’t have anything. We don’t have anything else to share beyond that. He’s a private citizen‚ and he makes his own decisions as it relates to this particular‚ you know‚ responses — particular response to Congress. It’s something that he decides on and I would refer to his representatives. ABC’s Selina Wang picked up where Cordes and Doocy left off: “Did the President speak to his son before or after his appearance on Capitol Hill?” When Jean-Pierre declined to comment because what Hunter tells his father is “private”‚ Wang sought a response for Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) calling Hunter “the epitome of white privilege” and demanding he be jailed. Once again‚ Jean-Pierre refused to comment. To her credit‚ CNN’s M.J. Lee cited the hypocrisy of Jean-Pierre decrying the GOP’s impeachment efforts of Biden as a stunt but refusing to denounce what was clearly a stunt by Hunter. And‚ at the end of the briefing‚ The Independent’s Andrew Feinberg unsuccessfully tried to get an answer to the question of whether Hunter slept at the White House on Tuesday (click “expand”): LEE: Karine‚ you’ve referred to the Republican impeachment inquiry as a stunt. The President himself has said that it was a political stunt. So‚ I guess‚ if the whole thing is a stunt‚ how does the White House see the President’s son himself pulling a stunt by appearing at this contempt hearing? JEAN-PIERRE: I — I don’t have anything else to add. The decisions that are made by Hunter Biden is — are his own. He’s a private citizen.  And I’m just not going to speak beyond that. If you ask me about the impeachment of — or what — the —  the GOP in Congress is doing as they’re — as they’re trying to impeach multiple Cabinet members. I can speak to that. But Hunter Biden is a private citizen. I’m just not going to speak to that. LEE: You have spoken to that. And again‚ you have called that a stunt in the past‚ right? So‚ I’m just asking — JEAN-PIERRE: I — I just don’t have anything else to add. I — I hear you. For today‚ I’m just not going to say anything more. (....) FEINBERG: And‚ on Hunter Biden‚ I understand he is a private citizen. He is not a member of the administration. He is‚ however‚ a member of the President’s family. So‚ could you tell us if he stayed at the White House in the residence last night? JEAN-PIERRE: I don’t have anything else to share. Rewinding to Tuesday’s briefing‚ the New York Post’s Steven Nelson had two topics of Biden corruption — Hunter Biden’s laughable art career and Burisma. Unsurprisingly‚ Jean-Pierre punted on both (click “expand”): NELSON: The First Son’s art dealer today is testifying on the Hill And he said that he did not have any talks with White House officials about setting up the supposed agreements to ensure that the buyers IDs were anonymous and that‚ in fact‚ many of the IDs were known. There was reporting during the President’s first year in office that some White House officials were engaged in setting up this supposed agreement. Can you just clarify what the case was? JEAN-PIERRE: I’m just not going to comment from here. I would refer you to my colleagues at the White House — White House legal office.  I just don’t have anything to share.  NELSON: Before my second one‚ just a plug for — a request for Ian Sams to perhaps take questions one day.  JEAN-PIERRE: Well‚ you have full acc — you have access to Ian Sams. He’s very good at responding to all of you and taking your questions. So‚ you know‚ I think that’s important. He — he’s been very‚ very good at connecting with — with everyone in this room who has questions like you have about anything that is related to what you just asked. NELSON: And my second question — JEAN-PIERRE: Third question.  NELSON: Well — my second question is that we have new reporting that the mayor of Kyiv‚ Sitting Mayor Vitali Klitschko‚ was involved with a business entity called Burisma Geothermal that was formerly chaired by the First Son when he was the Second Son. The President met with the mayor multiple times‚ of course‚ over the years And I was hoping that you could say whether the President knew about this business relationship during their meetings. JEAN-PIERRE: I would refer you to the White House Counsel’s Office. To see the relevant transcript from the January 10 briefing‚ click here.

Morano‚ Varney Warn America Could ‘Ban Gas Cars by 2035’

After California’s radical electric vehicle (EV) mandate came under EPA review‚ Climate Depot founder Marc Morano broke down what is at stake for the country.  Morano referenced his past work as a U.S. Senate staffer to eviscerate a dangerous California EV mandate during the Jan. 10 edition of Varney &; Company. Fox Business host Stuart Varney asked Morano if the California mandate threatened to become a model for the entire nation and suggested that “this country would ban gas cars by 2035.” Morano agreed‚ before describing the mandate. Morano said‚ “What this basically says is: ‘California's going to be granted the right to set federal vehicle transportation policy.’ That's what this is. That's what the California waiver is in layman's terms‚ is‚ ‘We're going to let Governor Gavin Newsom dictate the future of gas-powered cars.’ This has to be stopped. It's unlawful. We need to have consumers make this choice.” In fact‚ sixteen other states — Colorado‚ Connecticut‚ Delaware‚ Maine‚ Maryland‚ Massachusetts‚ Minnesota‚ Nevada‚ New Jersey‚ New Mexico‚ New York‚ Oregon‚ Rhode Island‚ Vermont‚ Virginia and Washington — have adopted California’s emission standards. In August 2022‚ the California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved draconian regulations to phase out sales of gas-powered cars. According to CARB‚ the state has mandated that “all new passenger cars‚ trucks and SUVs sold in California will be zero emissions” by 2035.  Morano questioned why electric vehicles needed to be pushed by the government rather than competing on their own: Instead people are‚ like‚ ‘Wait a minute‚ they're banning the competition. If these EVs are so great‚ why do you ban the competition?’ Same is true with solar and wind. Why do we ban coal‚ oil‚ gas—restrict it‚ ration it in order to have the winner‚ which is politically selected? And that's the bottom line. Its consumer choice and what makes sense logically. And this doesn't make sense logically even when you look at it from a climate-obsessed way.”  Earlier in the segment‚ Morano accused environmentalist radicals of trying to “create fear” and “push politics like an EV ban” before pointing out the absurdity of transitioning to EVs for environmental purposes. Morano specifically said: “And if you were actually worried about ‘climate change‚’ the last thing you would think of is: ‘EVs are the solution.’ It takes half a million pounds of materials‚ including raw Earth materials to make one average-sized Tesla battery. EVs dig the Earth and not in a groovy 1970s Brady Bunch way‚ Stuart‚ but I mean they dig the Earth and deeply with emissions‚ with environmental standards‚ and we’ll farm all of that out to the countries with the worst human rights and environmental standards: China and‚ of course‚ Chinese-owned factories in Africa with underaged kids. Even if you're concerned about global warming‚ EVs aren't the answer.” Conservatives are under attack! Chris Christie drops out of GOP presidential primary

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dropped out of the GOP presidential primary‚ announcing at an event on Wednesday that he is suspending his presidential campaign because he does not see a path to secure the nomination. The move comes less than a week before the Iowa Republican presidential caucus‚ the first contest in the GOP presidential nominating process. The New Hampshire Republican presidential primary will take place later this month. While Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis‚ New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu has thrown his support behind former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's candidacy.Christie was caught on a hot mic saying‚ in an apparent reference to Haley‚ that she will "get smoked" and is "not up to this." — (@) He has been a staunch critic of former President Donald Trump‚ who remains the clear frontrunner in the GOP presidential primary‚ polls indicate."I hear Chris Christie is dropping out of the race today — I might even get to like him again!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Anyway‚ he was just caught on a hot mic making a very truthful statement: 'She's gonna get smoked…You and I both know it‚ she's not up to this.'"DeSantis declared in a tweet that he agreed that Haley will "get smoked.""Chris Christie has been a friend for many years. I commend him on a hard-fought campaign. Voters have a clear choice in this election: the chaos and drama of the past or a new generation of conservative leadership. Homeless man arrested for a spree of sexual battery incidents in broad daylight in California beach city‚ police say

A homeless man is accused of committing sexual battery against women in at least three incidents in a southern California beach city‚ according to police. The Long Beach Police Department said in a press release that officers arrested Charles Larry Matthews‚ a 56-year-old homeless man over three incidents of sexual battery. Officers arrested Matthews on Friday after they say he had committed sexual battery against a female adult victim at about 2 p.m near the intersection of Alamitos Avenue and Broadway Street. They then discovered that he had allegedly committed sexual battery against a female teenage victim 15 minutes prior to that incident near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Broadway. “Through their quick response time‚ officers were able to immediately locate and apprehend the suspect after the sexual battery incidents‚” read a release from Long Beach police. Investigators believe Matthews also committed sexual battery against another female adult victim at about 12:25 p.m. near the intersection of Molino Avenue and Anaheim two days prior to the two incidents. Matthews was booked and charged for two counts of sexual battery. Police say there may be other victims of sexual battery and are asking the public to contact detectives if they have any information that might help the investigation. Critics of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón were outraged at a similar incident in November after he declined to file felony charges against a homeless man who assaulted a woman on the sidewalk. KABC-TV spoke to the victim‚ Rebekkah Pederson‚ who said she was angry that the man was not charged appropriately. "Did this man not see any of the footage‚" she asked. "I'm more angry than anything." The median single-family home price in Long Beach is about $780k according to Rocket Homes. Here's a news report about the incident: Like Blaze News?
