A bride and groom wowed guests when they learned the iconic Dirty Dancing choreography for their first dance—lift and all. Last August, Lan and Chris Donais said “I do” during a gorgeous wedding in Dedham, Massachusets, and they left a lasting memory for friends and family when they cleared the dance floor to perform the same moves that Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey performed in the 1987 classic. “Our guests couldn’t believe their eyes because for as long as they have known us, they couldn’t predict this performance and how it turned out. People were so impressed,” Lan told People. In a now-viral YouTube video shared by Sen Studio, the newlyweds gazed into each others’ eyes as they flawlessly danced to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life. Chris’ groomsmen even joined as backup dancers. “My friends continue to rave about the dance. They loved it,” Chris said. “My older sister, who had a choreographed dance at her wedding, was also quite jealous, as she knew I had ‘topped hers.’ Certainly my favorite reaction!” The idea began after Chris playfully asked Lan to try the legendary lift in their living room one day. What he didn’t know was that Dirty Dancing holds “a special place” in Lan’s heart. Like Baby, she, too, went to Mount Holyoke College. Every fall, she joined her fellow students and watched the movie in the school’s amphitheater to kick off the new semester. “Looking back, the dance feels like a full circle from my first days in the U.S. as an international student to my special day dancing with the love of my life,” she told the publication. “I was also honored to have my maid of honor and bridesmaid, both fellow Mount Holyoke sisters, by my side that day.” The “Dirty Dancing” Performance Felt Like A Scene Out Of Their Own Movie Neither the bride nor groom had a background in dance. So when they decided to recreate the moves, they hired a coach and worked with her for six months. To combat stage fright, the couple also performed in public lobbies across MIT, where they eventually held their wedding. When the big day arrived, Lan still had some nerves. But her husband knew exactly how to help. “As soon as I walked out, I was almost shocked because of the loud cheers we received. At some point, the cheers were so overwhelming that I forgot my steps and just froze,” she shared. “It was my first time ever freezing and forgetting my steps,” she continued. “But luckily Chris gently guided me along, and I was able to laugh it off.” For Chris, the performance was easy because the moment the music started, he only had eyes for her. “I was a bit nervous before because we had done a practice run which didn’t go perfectly,” he admitted. “But I forgot all about that once the music started. If the 2024 presidential contest proved anything, it’s that the mass media no longer drive the national conversation. They can no longer stoke fear and outrage in average voters. They can no longer prop up terrible candidates. And, like him or not, President-elect Donald Trump‘s success with black, Hispanic and Jewish voters, if exit polls are even close to correct, proves that the entire “fascist” scare was a flop. Indeed, the establishment press are less trusted than virtually any major institution in American life. It’s a well-earned ignominy. It’s also a tragedy for a free nation that we have a barely functioning press. Reporters probably tell themselves they’re disliked because they’re fearless truth-tellers. But, far more likely, it’s a referendum on their deceit. There was never a reckoning for the Russia collusion hysteria that enveloped the nation or the concerted effort to censor and gaslight us on the Hunter Biden laptop story. There will be no reckoning for spending years fearmongering about the coming Nazism, either. Recall, as well, how we got here. Most of the media had spent four years covering up President Joe Biden‘s mental and physical decay by the time the first presidential debate rolled around. It was perhaps the most stage-managed presidency in history, and not one reporter with access to the White House, outside of Fox News, thought it important enough to let us know that the commander in chief could barely function. This, far more than another pedantic fact check of Trump hyperbole, is why we need journalists. When The Wall Street Journal finally ran a well-sourced piece detailing Biden’s slippage, the paper was widely assailed by leftist media, which feigned deep concern about the veracity of the sourcing on the story. These are the same people, incidentally, who treat anonymously sourced Atlantic hit pieces as incontestable truth. Those who shared a video of Biden puttering around aimlessly were accused of spreading conspiracy theories themselves. When Biden’s fragile mental state could no longer be hidden, the political press immediately, and without any explanation, turned their focus to elbowing out the president and installing Vice President Kamala Harris. That’s not just bias—it’s corrupt. Then came “Kamalot,” the shameless, sycophantic, contrived campaign to persuade voters that a woefully inadequate candidate, one who had never won a primary contest, was actually a generational political talent. She went a month without giving a genuine interview or offering as much as extemporaneous comment. In a properly functioning liberal democracy, the press would never have stood for it.  When Harris finally began unleashing her swirling platitude-ridden sentences, it became clear she was in over her head. Once-respected institutions such as “60 Minutes” threw away what was left of their reputation, splicing one of Harris’ disjointed ramblings into a coherent answer. CBS News has yet to release the transcript of her interview. The rationalization, no doubt, was saving democracy. Most quarters of the media, though, not only refuse to debate but won’t concede that there is a debate. Most days, there isn’t a single person on MSNBC or NBC News or ABC News or CBS News or on any of the editorial pages of most of the biggest newspapers in the country who can articulate positions held by half the country, much less agree with any of them. And, no, stacking your panels with Trump-hating former conservatives who champion every leftist policy position imaginable doesn’t count. The zeal of the liberal convert isn’t really serving anyone. On election night, I watched MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Chris Hayes, and Rachel Maddow processing the loss to Trump. These were the people anchoring news coverage. Really, a satirist would struggle to replicate some of the astounding crackpottery I heard. Reid, as an example, used the word “fascist” with the frequency a normal person might use pronouns. There is a preternatural lack of self-awareness in much of the established media. Not once, for instance, did anyone on that MSNBC panel ever bring up the possible downside of recklessly accusing everyone who disagrees with them of being a “fascist.” Rather, they just kept wondering how all these Americans could vote for Hitler. Even the day after Harris’ defeat, cable news panels were devolving into struggle sessions and group therapy. It’s almost surely going to get worse before it gets better. The presence of Trump, in fact, promises higher ratings at these outlets. With every debacle, the institution gets worse. There is more insufferable self-glorification. More priggishness. More smugness. A bigger unearned sense of moral superiority. A girl with suspected autism was punished by a so-called National Serious Case Panel in the United Kingdom for asking a bearded transgender soccer opponent, "Are you a man?" the Telegraph reported.The 17-year-old cried when the panel found her guilty of “discrimination” for her remarks during a match against a trans-inclusive team, the Telegraph added.'The FA has declared open season on women and girls in football with its disastrous policy, which means that no one can question a male player participating in a women’s game.'The outlet — citing a previous report in Telegraph Sport — said it was the "latest case to cause outrage over the Football Association’s policy of allowing those born male to play in the women’s game."The girl's county Football Association charged her with saying, “Are you a man?” as well as, “That’s a man," and “Don’t come here again,” or similar comments, the Telegraph said.She was banned for six matches, four of which were suspended, after a three-hour hearing last week during which she denied expressing transphobia at the "friendly" game in July, the outlet noted.The girl also wept during a 30-minute grilling conducted via video conference, the Telegraph said, adding that she had been facing a ban of up to 12 games.An individual on the call said the hearing was “farcical” and added that panel members repeatedly “misgendered” the alleged victim as “he," the outlet reported, adding that the girl also was said to have been repeatedly asked, “How many LGBQT+ players do you have in your team?”More from the Telegraph:Her parents were outraged both by the hearing and the outcome, with her mother telling Telegraph Sport: “We’ve always taught our daughter to ask questions, and if she doesn’t feel comfortable or she doesn’t feel safe then she should go to somebody in charge and ask the question. In safeguarding training at places of work, you’re always told that you should question everything but she’s been told and effectively sanctioned by the FA for doing so. She asked, ‘Are you a man?’, and she admitted to that. The FA is essentially saying that no woman, when faced with what appears to be a male on the pitch, is entitled to ask a question.”The girl’s plight had previously been cited by former FA chairman Lord Triesman, who wrote to the governing body’s current chair and chief executive last month to complain about its trans policy. The FA has continued to permit players born male to compete in female-only events, despite being urged in May by then-Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer to adopt the “unambiguous position” of a ban.The outlet noted that Fiona McAnena — director of campaigns at Sex Matters — told Telegraph Sport: “The FA has declared open season on women and girls in football with its disastrous policy, which means that no one can question a male player participating in a women’s game. She also admitted asking the referee for guidance about the player’s eligibility to participate in women’s football “given my concern for my safety after already suffering a number of overly physical challenges," the outlet added.However, the girl repeatedly denied her words constituted transphobia, the outlet said, adding that it is understood that the game's referee heard nothing he deemed discriminatory.More from the Telegraph:The girl said in her written statement she had become “confused” about the participation of the trans player during the match in question as the latter “wore jewelry and sunglasses” and was not in opposition kit.She added: “The moment the player clarified they were transgender (which I previously hadn’t considered), I respected their answer fully, dropped the situation and immediately shifted my focus back to the game before seeking guidance from the referee. At no point was my question meant to be hurtful or malicious as I only intended to seek clarity in an unfamiliar situation. Knowing now that the player was transgender, I understand that there were better ways to approach this question.”The girl also said the opposing team's captain accosted her during a water break, telling her that she shouldn't have an issue with playing against a transgender opponent, the outlet added.“I raised a concern about the risk of serious injury as a 17-year-old girl playing against a biological male who was much larger than me and a very physical player, which was possibly a safety issue as I did not want to get dangerously injured right before the start of the new season," the girl said, according to the Telegraph. "Despite this, I made it clear that if the player met the eligibility criteria of the FA I would respect the rules and accept the risk involved in continuing to play the match.
