Rabbi explains why empathy and social anxiety so often go hand in hand

Some people get invited to a party and immediately look forward to the fun time. Others get invited to a party and are filled with immediate dread. Those who dread parties may struggle with social anxiety—an intense fear of social situations. Social anxiety takes many forms, but very few people who deal with it find the idea of socializing in a large group of people fun or exciting. They may want to find it exciting, but parties that energize and fulfill the extroverts among us tend to drain the introverts, and those with social anxiety often fare even worse. Rabbi Shais Taub gave an explanation for why some people experience social anxiety in such situations, and it's resonating with a whole lot of people who see themselves in it. People with high empathy may find themselves more socially anxiousThe reason why many people have social anxiety–this is not for everyone, but many people—is because they are so sensitive to other people's energies. For them, to be in a crowded room is like being in a room with 100 radios on, all playing different stations at the same time. In other words, there are some people who are, let's call it 'empathic,' who feel everybody's energy, and being in that presence is draining. They leave a social experience feeling exhausted."He explains that it's not that those people don't want to have human interactions, it's that the price of those interactions in energy expenditure very high. See on Instagram Many people felt seen and also wondered if there was a way to "turn it off":"I can even feel what others are thinking.""That's me. And people always come and tell me their problems, then I get more overwhelmed.""This is so me! I’m a nurse also and I absolutely love what I do but by the end of my day I want to be left alone! I carry all these energies with me and feel so bad for everyone. And it gets so heavy for me to carry.""This is me! I’m an empath and have a son on the spectrum. I have a masters degree in mental health counseling but am too afraid to become a counselor because I think it will drain me. I feel stuck. Your post makes a lot of sense to me.""? exhausted after social moments. I’m a teacher & I sleep after work. I have nothing left to give.""I feel that, then when I get home I literally fall asleep because I'm exhausted. Even people with good energy makes me tired, but not as much as people with negative energy, I feel everything. ?""Yea it sucks.. most people don't understand. Sometimes it's even just texting too much. I'll put my phone away and see you next week lol" Is there actual evidence that being an empath and experiencing social anxiety go hand in hand? According to a 2018 study, yes—at least for people with a specific combination of empathic tendencies. Researchers share that there are two main types of empathy:Cognitive empathy is the ability to understand what other people are feeling. People high in cognitive empathy are able to put themselves into someone else's shoes emotionally, even if they aren't actually feeling what they're feeling.Affective (or emotional) empathy is the ability to actually feel what other people are feeling. Empaths tend to be high in affective empathy and take on the feelings of those around them. The study, which examined over 400 adolescents, found that those with low cognitive empathy experience higher rates of social anxiety, and people with low cognitive empathy but high affective empathy experienced more severe social anxiety. Rabbi Taub's explanation aligns with this finding that taking on people feelings (or energies as he describes it) equates to greater levels of social anxiety. via GIPHYAdditionally, as Healthline points out, having low cognitive empathy but high affective empathy also means that you're sensing people's feelings without necessarily understanding why they are what they are. This might lead to mistaken assumptions that the other person's feelings are about you, making you feel more anxious about a social interaction. Not all studies on empathy and social anxiety have shown the same results, so we could definitely use some more research in this area. Anecdotally, however, people who are both empathic and socially anxious are feeling the connection between the two and appreciate having what they experience laid out so clearly. Dog instinctively gives owner CPR saving him from a massive heart attack

Our pets know a lot more about us than we like to think they do. They spend their entire lives focused on the people inside of their family which is why it doesn't always take an animal with special training to recognize when one of their humans are in trouble. There's no shortage of heroic dogs and cats risking their lives to rescue a small child from an aggressive animal or stopping them from falling. Some dogs have not only alerted families to a house fire but helped get people out of the house. And when it comes the matters of health, many times animals can sense something medically wrong with a person before they show any physical symptoms. These real life four-legged heroes have made it their mission to look out for their humans and Bear is no exception.Bear is a Siberian husky–golden retriever mix living in Ontario, Canada with his humans Darren and Janice Cropper, and recently joined the ranks of canine hero. The incident happened in the middle of the night Aug 2022. Bear knew something was wrong with his owner and became determined to wake Janice. The worried dog pounced on the woman repeatedly while howling in her ear. Bear wouldn't stop which caused Janice to open her eyes only to realize Darren was no longer next to her when she rolled over. "I got up. I thought maybe he was having a coffee sitting down here watching TV," Janice tells CTV.With all the noise Bear was making, the woman decided it would be best to check out what he was trying to tell her so she followed him downstairs. But when they reached the living room, she was in for a surprise. The dog springs over the couch and onto her husband who was laying unconscious on the floor. Thanks to Bear's insistence on waking Janice, she was able to immediately call for help. a white ambulance parked on the side of a road Photo by Corey Willett on Unsplash After being assessed and treated in the emergency department, it was discovered that Darren experienced a massive heart attack and likely shouldn't have made it. The heart attack that the dog owner had was called a 'widow maker' because people don't generally survive it unless they receive pretty immediate CPR. In this particular situation, one maybe wondering who provided the life saving maneuver–Bear. The pouncing that he did after jumping over the couch were chest compressions. No, Bear isn't a doggy Doogie Howser but saving people is in his DNA. Though he has never had any training, the furry hero is the offspring of two service dogs. According to CTV the family believes Bear continued to jump on his human until he opened his eyes. Golden Retriever lying on bed Photo by BRUNO CERVERA on Unsplash "I remember coming around and he was on my chest," Darren tells the outlet. "He wasn’t even trained to do it. He just did it."Bear's quick action saved Darren's life. The man received an emergency triple bypass and now Bear is being awarded a medal after being inducted in the 2024 Purina Animal Hall of Fame."When I first saw him when I got home, he came right to me and jumped in my arms and I just broke down crying. If it wasn’t for him, everything would be a lot different," Darren says emotionally to the Canadian news outlet. Bear will be formally recognized by Purina at their headquarters in Mississauga, Canada for a special ceremony for the four-legged hero.

BREAKING: Filings Reveal Oprah Winfrey Was Paid ONE MILLION DOLLARS To Host “Town Hall” With Kamala Harris

What’s $1 million between friends? Especially when the million isn’t yours anyway, it just poured in from Hollywood along with the rest of the $1 billion. And that’s allegedly what happened here…. While they passed it off as Oprah Winfrey coming in and doing her Civic Duty to host a Town Hall where Kamala Harris would take questions from voters, it now appears like it was nothing more than a paid event to prop up Kamala Harris — and Oprah allegedly got $1 million to do it. Good work if you can get it, I guess! Take a look here: REPORT: @KamalaHarris Campaign PAID Oprah Winfrey $1,000,000 To Do The Interview With Her!They Presented It As A Journalistic Endeavor…THAT WAS A LIE!HARRIS DID NOT PRESENT IT AS A PAID POLITICAL AD, WHICH IT WAS, A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW! pic.twitter.com/5swJpiLLaf — John Basham (@JohnBasham) November 9, 2024 That’s exactly right…. It was presented as an (impartial) journalistic endeavor, but in reality it seems it was nothing more than a paid ad. How ridiculous! Watch Jesse Watters break it all down here: Hang on a minute…Kamala paid Oprah $1 million to endorse her…wtf everything was fake lmao pic.twitter.com/g60NDpKiR6 — Mandy Gall (@TheMandyGall) November 9, 2024 Here is Elon Musk saying “Hmm” in response to @CerebralBlonde posting the actual campaign filing showing $1,000,000 to “Harpo Productions Inc”. See here: Oprah was paid $1M? Hmm — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 9, 2024 For those who don’t know, Harpo is Oprah spelled backwards and it’s the name of her production company. The Denver Gazette had more details on this payment and many others: The Harris campaign and its affiliated committees dropped more than $654 million on advertising from July 22 to Election Day, whereas Trump spent $378 million, or 57% less, in the same category, according to data from AdImpact. Future Forward, the $500 million “ad-testing factory” and super PAC that supported Harris, was a reliable clearinghouse for checks from wealthy Democrats such as Reid Hoffman, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, and Dustin Moskovitz. And anonymous donations, or so-called “dark money,” also benefited Harris at a faster and more substantial clip than Trump thanks to lax federal laws that progressives often criticize but, nonetheless, exploited in 2024. The Harris campaign declined to comment on its finances. A fuller portrait will be public after the election, as the Federal Election Commission mandates post-general election reports for candidates within 30 days. In mid-October, the Harris campaign disclosed that it had spent over $880 million this election, almost $526 million greater than the roughly $354 million that the Trump campaign had disclosed spending, according to a Washington Examiner analysis of federal filings. Much of the Harris campaign’s spending was allocated for digital media advertising, polling, and travel from state to state, including to a private jet company called Advanced Aviation. Payroll and the taxes that accompanied it accounted for $56.6 million of the Harris campaign’s spending. In comparison, the Trump campaign reported spending $9 million on payroll — employing hundreds fewer staff members. There was also the army of political, digital, and media consultants who were paid over $12.8 million by the Harris campaign, filings show. One vendor, Village Marketing Agency, received over $3.9 million and reportedly worked to recruit thousands of social media influencers to boost Harris online. Others that scored lucrative consulting gigs from the campaign included the likes of Precision Strategies, a Democratic-aligned marketing agency; Ethos Organizing, founded by former Ohio Democratic Party director Malik Hubbard; and the Biden-allied SKDK communications firm. Harris’s payments to the consultant class will likely come under the microscope in the months ahead, as Democrats look to diagnose who is responsible for why the party lost this election so handily. Speaking on MSNBC after Harris’s Wednesday concession speech, former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill said Harris “was listening too much to consultants,” which McCaskill argued detracted from her ability to “exude who she was” to voters. “There was a segment of the electorate that was very consistently saying, ‘I’m not familiar with Kamala Harris,’ and, because of that, ‘I’m not comfortable enough to decide to vote for her,’ whereas Trump is incredibly well-defined,” said Jake Dilemani, a Democratic political strategist based in New York City. “It was easier for him to spend less and still win.” “It’s the advantage of being such a well-defined person,” Dilemani told the Washington Examiner. “Event production” was also a staple spending area of the Harris campaign, which notably hosted a star-studded lineup of musicians from Lady Gaga to Katy Perry for an election eve rally. The campaign paid more than $15 million, according to federal filings, to companies for such services. There was $1 million for Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions on Oct. 15 in West Hollywood, California. Winfrey, a top Harris ally, appeared at a town hall with the vice president in September and was at her final rally in Philadelphia before Election Day. Viva Creative, a marketing agency that has touted its work with Oprah, comedian Trevor Noah, the Washington Nationals baseball team, and American Express, scooped up $1.8 million from the Harris campaign for event production from September to October. A company called Production Management One in Maryland received $1.7 million, with large payments also going to Vox Productions, Temple University, Wizard Studios North, the Park Hyatt Chicago, and other entities for event production, filings show. Then there was Majic Productions, a Wisconsin-based company, which has worked the NBA playoffs, the Super Bowl, and at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Harris campaign paid that company $2.3 million. I don’t know why you would, but if you wanted to see the full Town Hall you can see it here: Here’s more on the extremely reckless spending of the Kamala Harris Campaign: After Raising $1 Billion In Campaign Contributions, Kamala Harris Campaign Ends Deeply In Debt! After Raising $1 Billion In Campaign Contributions, Kamala Harris Campaign Ends Deeply In Debt! This is the most "Democrat" thing ever.... Raise a BILLION dollars, spend recklessly and frivolously, keep horrible ledgers, budget and project spending wildly inaccurately, and then end up $20 million in debt! Just like how they run our country! Take a look: She only spent $400,000,000 in the swing stages. Her campaign raised $1,000,000,0000. Her campaign is now $20,000,000 in debt. So, what did they spend the other $620,000,000 on? There is some major fraud that occurred within that campaign’s finances. https://t.co/W0uGqNX6to — Joey Mannarino (@JoeyMannarinoUS) November 7, 2024 Confirmed by Politico California Bureau Chief Christopher Cadelago: Kamala Harris's campaign ended with at least $20 million in debt, per two sources familiar. Harris raised over $1 billion and had $118 million in the bank as of Oct. 16. — Christopher Cadelago (@ccadelago) November 7, 2024 I guess a BILLION dollars just doesn't go as far as it used to! Newsweek confirmed more information: Kamala Harris' presidential election campaign ended the 2024 White House contest "at least $20 million in debt," according to Politico's California bureau chief Christopher Cadelago. Cadelago made the claim on X, formerly Twitter, noting Harris' team had "$118 million in the bank" as recently as October 16. Donald Trump was elected to the White House for a second time, with The Associated Press (AP) reporting he had secured 295 Electoral College votes as of 5:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, 25 more than he needed for victory. According to AP, Trump is also ahead in the battleground states of Nevada and Arizona, which have 17 Electoral College votes between them. He is also on track to win the popular vote. In the post on Wednesday, Cadelago wrote: "Kamala Harris's campaign ended with at least $20 million in debt, per two sources familiar. Harris raised over $1 billion and had $118 million in the bank as of Oct. 16." Newsweek has not independently confirmed that a debt of around $20 million exists. The Harris-Walz campaign was contacted for comment via email on Thursday outside of regular office hours. The claim was repeated by on X by Breitbart's Matthew Boyle, who cited an anonymous "Kamala campaign staffer." The Washington bureau chief for Breitbart News Network wrote: "The $20 million debt thing is real. [The Harris campaign's deputy campaign manager] Rob Flaherty, this staffer said, is currently shopping around the Kamala fundraising email list to anyone who wants it to try to raise the money back. This includes other campaigns and outside groups." I thought it would be fun next to compare Kamala's campaign managing $1 billion with some historical campaigns. Let's start with Trump 2016: Donald Trump 2016: Debt Status: Trump's 2016 campaign concluded with no reported debt. Financial Summary: The campaign raised approximately $333 million and spent about $325 million, leaving a cash surplus of over $7 million. That checks out....he ran a surplus! $7 million left over, money spent extremely frugally and wisely and funds left over after the win was secured. Just like a successful business man! Next up let's do Hillary 2016: Hillary Clinton 2016: Debt Status: Clinton's 2016 campaign ended with minimal debt. Financial Summary: The campaign raised over $563 million and spent approximately $570 million, resulting in a small deficit. I love how they call $7 million a "small deficit". No big deal, just have Gary Gensler write it off! "It's a write off Jerry, you just WRITE it OFF!" Next up, how about Obama in 2012: Barack Obama 2012: Debt Status: Obama's 2012 campaign concluded with no significant debt. Financial Summary: The campaign raised about $722 million and spent nearly $750 million, but managed to settle all obligations promptly. This shows a $28 million deficit, worse than Kamala! And I love how they say they "settled all obligations promptly"....what a way to put it! Let me tell you exactly how those settlements worked:  "Hello, XYZ Vendor, hi....this is Barack Obama.  I'm President now.  I know we owe you $XXX but we will not be paying any of that, we're broke.  Have a good day!" BOOM: settled promptly.

The DEC Is Hiding the Truth About P’Nut & Fred

The Department of Environmental Conservation said it is conducting an “internal investigation” into the much-criticized seizure of P’Nut and Fred the raccoon at Mark Longo’s Pine City home. Both animals were killed. They were likely decapitated. Decapitated? That sounds a little psycho. The state claimed they tested P’nut for rabies after he allegedly bit an agent […] The post The DEC Is Hiding the Truth About P’Nut & Fred appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.
