A West Virginia resident spotted a mysterious creature lingering near a tree at a local park. According to a local media report, the strange sighting occurred late last month as Brittany Keller drove through Ritter Park in the city of Huntington. She noticed a curious quadruped. "There it was, roughly the size of a bear, but the head was more canid than ursid, and the body was more lean. We stood there staring at each other for what felt like forever!"I received the following account:"Hi. The year was 2017, and there was going to be a Blood Moon that night. So I collected a bunch of equipment to get a good picture of it. I borrowed an awesome camera that could be attached to a telescope, and had my laptop and various other equipment, but also strapped on my .40 caliber pistol because there are mountain lions and coyotes in the area (Bayfield County, Wisconsin). Loaded all my gear into my Jeep and headed to an area a few miles away from town.I arrive at the place where I'm going to set up, begin unloading and setting everything up and I hear some nearby sheep start freaking out. Didn't think much of it, and after a handful of minutes, they went quiet again. Just as I was unloading the scope I heard a very loud splash (there was a small creek in the field) and for some reason, this caught my attention. I stood up and looked towards the creek for a second but didn't hear anything else so I went back to setting up the scope.Now I hear some rustling, twigs snapping, that sort of thing, and stand up and shine my flashlight around to see what I can see. Don't see anything and whatever it went quiet when I shined the light around so I figured I'd scared it off and started screwing the scope onto the tripod when I heard a very loud snap and whipped back around, pulling my gun and shining my light towards a fallen tree I'd noticed earlier.And there it was, roughly the size of a bear, but the head was more canid than ursid, and the body was more lean. We stood there staring at each other for what felt like forever, then it growled and charged and I screamed and fired my gun repeatedly (after the fact I found I'd fired 8 shots). It bowled me over and I fully expected that my life was over, but instead of following through with the attack it just kept running and disappeared into the cornfield nearby. Thoroughly spooked I tossed the most expensive bits I'd unpacked back into the Jeep and left immediately, only going back once the sun was fully up to finish recollecting my gear. When I got there I found a Game Warden, a couple of Sheriff's Deputies, and the farmer who owned the field/pasture.Apparently whatever it was had killed a couple sheep, and they were trying to figure out what it was and where it went. The tracks were both canid but also not canid, they were strangely "longer" than a standard dog print. What was it? Well I'm still not sure and sometimes it still keeps me up at night, some have suggested it was a "Dogman?" I'm not sure I believe in such things." DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Colorado voters passed a tax on firearms and ammunition sales in the state aimed at reducing gun violence, The Associated Press projects. Proposition KK applies a 6.5% tax on all sales of firearms, ammunition, and certain firearms parts, according to the Colorado Legislature. The tax revenue will be used to help “crime victim support services, mental health services for veterans and youth, and school safety programs.” The new tax is expected to generate $39 million in the first year, according to a legislative analysis of the measure. The measure had 54.2% supporting and 45.8% opposing, with 76% of votes counted as of Thursday morning, according to the AP. Colorado is middling in gun ownership, having the 21st lowest rate in the county in 2022, according to the World Population Review. However, the state has a strong hunting culture, with the industry bringing in roughly $843 million yearly, according to the Colorado Wildlife Council. Voters also rejected Proposition 127, which would have banned hunting of “big cats,” like bobcats, mountain lions, and others. There has been no registered spending from either side of the issue on the tax initiative, according to Ballotpedia. “Firearms and ammunition are already subject to an 11% federal excise tax through the Pittman-Robertson Act, along with a variety of other state and local taxes and fees,” the National Rifle Association said in March. “California is the only other state to enact similar legislation. This tax should be seen as nothing more than an attack on the Second Amendment and those who exercise their rights under it.” Advocates argue that the tax is small and will provide crucial services to victims of domestic abuse and gun violence, according to Everytown for Gun Safety in September. “Gun violence in all its forms continues to devastate Colorado families and communities, and Coloradans have the opportunity to take action by voting in favor of Prop KK on the ballot in November,” Linda Magid, lead of the Moms Demand Action’s Colorado Chapter, told Everytown for Gun Safety. “By requiring a modest tax on firearms and ammunition, Coloradans will be able to guarantee new funding for protecting and healing survivors, and providing services critical in breaking cycles of violence. VOTE YES ON Prop KK and show your commitment to our state’s safety and future.” Colorado will also decide on Proposition 130, which would increase police funding by $300 million, according to the measure. DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said Thursday that a “clemency package” for both President-elect Donald Trump and Hunter Biden could be “coming together.” Special counsel Jack Smith is reportedly closing down his cases against Trump, whom he indicted on allegations of mishandling classified material and over his challenges to the 2020 election. McCarthy said that dropping the cases against Trump could enable President Joe Biden to pardon his son, Hunter, who was convicted on federal gun charges and who pleaded guilty to federal tax charges. “I also think, from what I can gather, that sort of a deal is coming together because everyone understands that President Biden is going to pardon his son, Hunter. That is not going to go down well—at least if it’s in a vacuum because, of course, he vowed he wouldn’t do it, not that anyone took that too seriously,” McCarthy said on TV’s “Fox and Friends.” “But I think it goes down easier for the country if it’s kind of like a clemency package where the Biden-Harris Justice Department dismisses the two cases against former President Donald Trump, President-elect Trump, because they can’t be prosecuted at this point anyhow. He will be the sitting president of the United States. Then Biden pardons Hunter.” “I think the signal that sends, hopefully, to these progressive prosecutors at the state level is that, you know, it’s time to ‘turn the page’ from lawfare, which proved to be a disaster for the Democrats, I think, in the election,” McCarthy said. “Fox and Friends” co-host Steve Doocy said Biden pardoning Trump could make a pardon of Hunter Biden “more palatable” for the country. “The other thing that is important here in dismissing the case, so you dismiss it at the Justice Department level, rather than having to pardon the incoming president, which is almost like an admission of guilt that Trump doesn’t want to make,” McCarthy said. “If they dismiss it, and it’s the Biden-Harris Justice Department that dismisses it, I think the judge goes along with it more easily. A United Nations (UN) committee has adopted two resolutions, one of them aimed at the World Organization’s Department of Global Communications establishing and strengthening “partnerships with new and traditional media to address hate speech narratives.” The Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) also adopted a resolution further promoting the UN’s “Our Common Agenda” plan, which, among other points, proposes bank account-linked digital ID – as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Pact for the Future, and Global Digital Compact – also pushing for digital IDs, censorship, and surveillance, with major countries as the schemes’ key backers. Ahead of the adoption of the documents, representatives of a number of countries spoke in favor of expanded censorship under the UN umbrella, with Italy’s delegate advocating for the use of AI in combating “misinformation and disinformation.” UK’s representative reiterated the country’s commitment to the UN Pact for the Future and Global Digital Compact, highlighted the far-reaching censorship law, Online Safety Act, and noted that it forces companies “to remove illegal online content, including illegal mis and disinformation generated by AI.” Another thing the UK remains committed to, the address revealed, is digging its heels in when it comes to characterizing “misinformation” as a major threat. The EU essentially co-signed all that, singling out, as it does, Russian disinformation, with El Salvador, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Malaysia also expressing their deep concern over “disinformation” of various types, and calling for the UN to work more on countering it. Pakistan’s delegate remarked that Big Tech (Meta, Google) should be “collaborated” with, and warned they should not put profit before the need to join “the war on disinformation.” As for individuals accused of spreading disinformation, Pakistan proposes to make use of the UN’s Global Principles for Information Integrity, designed to promote not only fighting “misinformation” and “hate speech,” but also censoring and demonetizing content algorithmically. However, a meeting before the adoption of the texts also heard some dissenting voices, notably that of Argentina.
