Donald Trump has claimed victory in the US presidential election as early results pointed to a landslide for the Republican party. Addressing supporters in Florida, Trump hailed a “magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again”. “We are now winning in Michigan, Arizona, Nevada and Alaska which would result in us carrying at least 315 electoral votes,” he said. As well as the presidency, Trump is leading in the popular vote and Republicans are ahead in the race for both the Senate and the House, in what would be a stunning clean sweep. “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate, we have taken back control of the Senate - wow.” As of 2:15 CST there has been no additional word from the Kamala campaign since they sent everyone home and told staffers to wait until after 3am to learn more from the results.  This will be a developing story throughout the day, and I am eager to find out if Kamala will concede defeat in a phone call to her opponent -- as has been the custom for decades -- or if she will attempt some manner of trickery, even with President Trump's victory so certain.  For all our sakes, I pray she concedes quickly.  God forbid what would happen if she does not.
