Pros Can be given 30 minutes before the stressful event Naturally flavored Easy to administer Cons May dry out over time Not for everyday use Buyer’s Guide: Select the Best Calming Supplements for Cats All cats have different personalities and will respond to situations in their own way. If anxiety is a problem, it can present itself as a chronic condition or just a situational reaction. Regardless of the reason, you will want to book an appointment with your vet if you suspect your cat is suffering from any form of anxiety or stress to reduce its effects as best as you can. Here we will discuss possible causes of stress and anxiety so you can determine where your cat falls on the scale and the best course of action to take. Situational Anxiety in Cats Some kitties may be fine on an ordinary day until something tips the balance of things around the house. The good news is, environmental factors are sometimes the easiest to treat because you can accommodate your cat to make them most comfortable. Many times, you can pinpoint the root cause of anxiety or stress. A majority of the time, it spikes from noticeable changes that you are well aware of. Loud Noises Your cat may be particularly sensitive to loud noises, which can be perfectly normal. Your cat may dart under the bed when they hear a thunderstorm, fireworks, alarms, or other obnoxious noises that they can’t place. New Home Changes Cats are often creatures of habit. They might get bent out of shape if you move to a new home or even bring home a new appliance or piece of furniture. These changes are temporary and your cat can certainly adapt, but they might need a little help while they’re in transition. Vet Visits Let’s face it—vet visits are rightfully scary for a lot of pets. It’s full of unfamiliar animals, smells, and people. Plus, your cat may correlate the vet with bad experiences involving surgery, shots, and other not-so-good memories. It’s natural for them to be apprehensive about the whole situation. Grooming Trips Not all cats like being handled by strangers. Cats can be very particular about who they allow to pet them, let alone comb, cut, and bathe them. Like the vet’s office, seeing all the new stimuli can also take a toll on them because everything is totally unfamiliar. Travel Many cats don’t care for car trips. Not only is there movement happening that is a weird sensation—they also might not like being crated or trapped while it’s happening. Though perfectly understandable, giving your cat a supplement during car trips can help to take the edge off. Family Additions If you bring home a new baby or add new members to your household, it could definitely take a toll on your cat. They won’t understand much at first—they only know their safe space is being invaded by new people, which can be an emotional time for them. New Pets It’s not unusual at all for your cat to be totally unsure about a new pet in the house. Whether it’s a hyper new puppy, an invasive new kitten, or another unfamiliar critter, your cat may not be happy at all that you brought them home. To help your pet adjust, supplements can be very beneficial to them. Image by: Tanya Dol, Shutterstock Anxiety Caused by Past Events Sometimes, anxiety and stress aren’t environmental at all. There is a chance your cat can have anxiety that stems from preexisting abuse or neglect. If you have a cat who has had a less than favorable past, it’s only expected that some residual emotion can follow them. To calm them down, you might have to put them on a long-term behavioral transition plan with the help of your vet. Many over-the-counter supplements can help to take the edge off of your cat, so they aren’t so excited all the time. The ability to relax and feel safe in their environment is something every animal should have, no matter what you have to put in place to accommodate them. Signs of Anxiety Cats can exhibit a wide spectrum of behaviors that point to anxiety. Some might be extremely apparent, while others may stay under the radar for a while. You might think your cat just has certain quirks or traits that make them act the way they do without realizing the underlying factors at hand. Some cues of anxiety are: Toileting outside their litter box Frequently meowing Acting skittish or apprehensive Hiding from any sudden movements, noise, or people Overgrooming, which may or may not involve hair loss Decreased appetite Destructive tendencies like clawing or shredding belongings While these behaviors can no-doubt be a challenge for owners, it’s up to you to implement a plan to reduce the struggle for your cat. If they have any of these unwanted behaviors, the likelihood of an underlying issue is almost definite. Consult with your veterinarian so you can select the right plan for your cat. If you proactively handle this situation, you can ease the symptoms and reduce anxiety—and everyone in the home will be a lot happier when you do. There are lots of options on the market, and you’ll probably not have much of an issue with selection. Circle back to our reviews if you’re having trouble landing on the right one for your kitty. Long-Term Treatment Some medicines are designed for long-term use, meaning that they don’t always work immediately. They have to get into their system and slowly kick in over the course of several weeks before they reach ultimate effectiveness. These treatments are best for cats who have continual anxiety. Short-Term Treatment Other supplements are designed to work right away. About a half-hour after you give them the treatment, you’ll start to notice a reduction in anxious behavior. These methods work better with cats who get flustered about outside influences—and not so much an overall sense of anxiety. Different Forms of Administration Cats will have varying tastes and preferences. Some cats won’t resist medication, while others will fight you tooth and nail. That’s why the market has so many options for cat owners to pick from. The most common types of formulas are: Chewable treats Powder additives Liquid droplets Capsules Some may work better than others, and some are easier to give to your cat. It will totally depend on the individual feline. Image Credit: Alexsander Ovsyannikov, Shutterstock Active Ingredients in Supplements You can also make a decision based on natural ingredients versus synthetic ingredients. Ultimately, it will depend on your cat’s sensitivities and the severity of the anxious behavior. Why Jillian Michaels left the left: 'Started as a COVID moment'

Jillian Michaels became a household name years ago as she built a fitness empire, but she’s only recently woken up politically — which she tells Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” “started as a COVID moment.” Michaels recalls the Los Angeles restaurant policy requiring that “you had to wear a mask when you walked to the table, but as soon as you sat down you were below the COVID layer and you were all good.” “It was the stupidest f***ing thing I had ever seen in my adult life. It was utterly nonsensical,” she tells Rubin. “So, from that moment then, you started in essence seeing the lies, right? And then once you see the lies in one way, it’s everywhere,” Rubin comments. “Not only do you begin to see the lies everywhere, they were growing at an exponential pace, Dave. It was just, it was bananas. We weren’t allowed to have conversations, and we were saying things I knew were true,” she responds. Four years after waking up, Michaels — who is gay and married to a woman — is faced with a decision. “So, you’ve woken up. You were, let’s say, a moderate lefty your entire life, not particularly political. You’ve now seen the light, all of the stuff. The election is in a couple days from now. Will you be voting for Donald Trump?” Rubin asks. “I’m not influencing anyone’s vote, right? I’m not telling anyone who to vote for,” Michaels responds, adding, “I did vote for Donald Trump.” “He was not my choice for the candidates that were running for the primary. I do understand his flaws, trust me, I could list all of them. But the problem for me is that it becomes a question of lesser evils,” she continues, listing the First Amendment, never-ending wars, and Big Pharma as several issues on the ballot. Michaels believes these issues are especially important, considering that not only have they all been censored so heavily over the past four years but those who speak about them often face consequences. “Then they shut down your social media, and then they fire you from your job. It will come for you,” she adds. 'The barbarians are at the gates': Libertarian Party of New Hampshire snubs own candidate to endorse Trump

The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire — the self-described most libertarian party in the most libertarian state — snubbed its party's own candidate to endorse former President Donald Trump. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire rejected the Libertarian Party's presidential candidate, Chase Oliver, and instead endorsed Trump in the 2024 election. Oliver is a progressive libertarian on several key issues. 'The barbarians are at the gates. We must make sure that New Hampshire continues to repel progressives, socialists, communists, and leftists of all stripes.'"There is, technically, a Libertarian on the ballot," the LPNH said of Oliver. "This Libertarian spends his time supporting tax-funded trans surgery for prisoners, advocating for literal murderers, and trying to kick our members out of the Libertarian Party entirely. We cannot support him, and he cannot win."According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Oliver is polling at 0.8%. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire noted that the endorsement of Trump "was not a light decision" but added, "We feel it is the right one for ourselves, for our children, and for the best future of a Free State of New Hampshire."The political group admitted that Trump is not a libertarian but stressed the Republican was "the best candidate for libertarians."The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire pointed out that Trump promised to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht — the founder of the online illegal drug marketplace Silk Road — during his appearance at the Libertarian National Convention in May.It also highlighted that Trump started no new wars — a first in over three decades. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire touted that Trump could appoint libertarian icon Ron Paul, as well as Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, to reduce the size of the federal government. The group applauded Trump's proposal to end the Department of Education. The statement by the LPNH posted to the X social media platform highlighted that Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) – whom it describes as one of the "greatest libertarians in America" — gave his endorsement of Trump last month. Massie said last month, "I want to be part of the alignment that puts the focus back on regular people instead of corporations and bureaucracy. One of the other pressing issues of our day is that our meddling overseas has put us on the brink of war, and I believe Trump is the only one who can pull us back from that. For these reasons and those mentioned in my endorsement, I came to the conclusion that this presidential election is too important for me not to weigh-in on."Trump and Massie butted heads in March 2020 when the former president called for the Kentucky representative to be thrown out of the Republican Party. Trump did endorse Massie in the 2022 election. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire was excited that Trump welcomed Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. The libertarian group was also interested in Trump's "flirting" with the elimination of individual income taxes."Trump promises much and we are skeptical of promises from politicians," the group said. The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire then warned about the dangers of the Democrats winning the 2024 presidential election. "However, we know for certain what the Democrat alternative is: more socialism, more censorship, more taxes, more authoritarianism," the statement read. "The barbarians are at the gates. We must make sure that New Hampshire continues to repel progressives, socialists, communists, and leftists of all stripes," the LPNH stated. "New Hampshire, being the only red state in a blue New England, helps achieve that goal. For these reasons and more, the most popular Libertarian state affiliate in the country is endorsing Donald Trump for President. Now get out there and vote!"The last time a Republican presidential candidate won New Hampshire was in 2000. President Joe Biden won the state by 7% in 2020. Trump lost New Hampshire to Hillary Clinton in 2016 by fewer than 3,000 votes. Prominent libertarian and stand-up comedian Dave Smith also recently announced that he was supporting Trump in the 2024 election. Like Blaze News? Election Day 'self-care suites' reportedly offered to students at Georgetown's McCourt School of Public Policy

Election Day "self-care suites" — filled with milk and cookies, hot chocolate, coloring books, and even a Legos station — reportedly were offered to students at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy, the New York Post reported. The specialized school at the elite Washington, D.C., institution of higher learning is tasked with training our next generation of elected officials and diplomats, the Post said, adding that the tab for attending is just over $61,000 annually.'What kind of lives have these people led that makes them think that this is the right way to handle young people?'“In recognition of these stressful times, all McCourt community members are welcome to gather … in the 3rd floor Commons to take a much needed break," wrote Jaclyn Clevenger — the school’s director of student engagement — in an email to students that the Free Press obtained, according to the Post. Also on tap at the self-care suites are "mindfulness activities," the email also said, according to the paper, which added that the the suites are open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.The Post said Clevenger didn’t respond to its request for comment Tuesday. There's more where that came from! The paper also said similar amenities are offered not just on Election Day but all week long at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. The Post said students there can partake of cupcakes in a campus lobby before traveling to the campus rotunda, where they can take part in a “walkable labyrinth” featuring “calming lighting and music.”What's more, students can indulge in arts and crafts that include beading, canvas-bag decorating, and painting while noshing on snacks, the paper said, adding that students also can visit a “Pause for Paws,” event where they can cuddle with animals and sip hot chocolate. Finally, the University of Puget Sound is offering a “post-election processing space” where students can create collages, journal using self-care writing prompts, and eat comfort food from a baked potato bar, the Post reported. The paper also noted that Jerry Seinfeld last week blasted the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City — where the comedian's kids attended — for letting students who become “emotionally distressed” skip classes the day after the election.“What kind of lives have these people led that makes them think that this is the right way to handle young people?" Seinfeld asked the New York Times. “To encourage them to buckle. This is the lesson they are providing for ungodly sums of money.”Remember when?Readers of Blaze News may recall that this sort of coddling goes back a ways.Just prior to Donald Trump's 2017 inauguration, a Georgetown University LGBT student group planned on hosting a “Self-Care Night” featuring "Legos, juice boxes, and more!"Later in 2017, a "Meeting of Healing" took place at the University of Connecticut in response to a conservative speaker's appearance at the school.Marquette University’s counseling center advertised a safe space for students to "de-stress" from the ravages of the 2018 midterm elections.Like Blaze News?
