'You have to rely on the market': Trump shoots down 'equitable pay' argument for women's sports

President Donald Trump discredited the idea that women should be paid the same as men in sports, particularly in reference to the WNBA, where he said contracts were already in place.During an interview on the "Let's Go!" podcast with hosts Jim Gray and legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick, Trump was asked about "equitable pay" in women's sports."Should there be more support, or supportive measures, to ensure equitable pay across sports?" Gray asked, before referring to WNBA star Caitlin Clark."You'd like to do that, but it's a very complicated thing," Trump replied, calling Clark a "phenomenon" in her sport. While the former president compared Clark to Tiger Woods, he said he's seen new stars get locked into entry-level contracts many times and play them out until they get rewarded."It sounds unfair, but somebody agrees to a contract. Hopefully she'll keep it going and she'll make a lot of money," he continued."Maybe you could give her a bonus," Trump suggested for Clark.Host Gray then referred to Clark's massive television ratings, which eclipsed typical NBA viewership many times throughout 2024."You have to rely on the market," Trump rebuffed. "You can't just say 'we'll break this contract because this person did well.'" — (@) Coach Belichick pushed Trump for his opinion on name, image, and likeness payments for NCAA athletes and wondered if there is a way to strike a balance between profit and willingness to play.Trump responded by saying he was "surprised that the governing body didn't appeal" NIL payments more vehemently."I don't know that they appealed it at all," Trump laughed."Will college sports, as we know it, look the same in the next five to 10 years?" Belichick then asked."No, not really. ... It's not going to be the same," Trump predicted. "You'll probably have some schools go to the top," he added, noting some of the more "wealthy schools" will likely do very well.Trump went to say that inevitably the NCAA could act as a different professional sports league, with "some very rich athletes."Read more about NIL payments in this Blaze News original.. Former President Donald Trump described the NFL's new Guardian Caps as "weird."Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty ImagesStill talking about football, the Republican commented on Guardian Caps, the exterior padding the NFL has allowed on players' helmets in the 2024 season."That thing looks weird!" Trump remarked, laughing with the hosts. He said he wasn't sure about the preventive aspects of the equipment, pointing out that there are still violent clashes between players."[It's] still a very violent game," he continued. "That's why people watch it. It's pretty risky, but you don't have to let your child play."Trump also expressed disdain for the NFL's new kickoff rules, while adding that middle-class Americans are being "priced out" of sporting events."A fan will buy one ticket, for one game, sometimes a nothing game, and that's all they can afford," Trump claimed.Like Blaze News? Muslim social media star scraps Kamala's 'boring' interview after VP makes bacon blunder

A Muslim social media star's interview with Kamala Harris was reportedly scrapped after the vice president refused to answer questions about Gaza, but then oddly pivoted to talking favorably about bacon — when Muslims are not permitted to eat pork.Kareem Rahma is the Egyptian-American host of the popular "Subway Takes," which boasts hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok and Instagram. Rahma interviews people on the subway and asks for their most important opinion within two minutes. 'And then they made it worse by talking about anchovies. Boring!'Rahma interviewed Harris over the summer, but the episode never aired.Rahma told the New York Times that he canned the Harris interview after it "hadn’t gone as planned."Rahma and Harris were allegedly going to talk about removing shoes on airplanes. However, Kamala talked about bacon with the Muslim influencer. Harris instead reportedly said: “Bacon is a spice.” The New York Times reported, "Rahma, who doesn’t eat pork for religious reasons, was taken aback. 'I don’t know,' he says, in an unpublished video recording of the interview, his voice rising to an unusually high pitch."Harris allegedly explained how "bits of cooked bacon can be used to enhance a meal like any other seasoning," and she said, “Think about it, it’s pure flavor.” Rahma reportedly informed Kamala that he doesn't eat bacon because of his Muslim faith. According to the Times, Harris then talked about how she loves anchovies on pizza. Rahma reportedly wrapped up the interview one minute later by saying with an awkward laugh, "Well, I’m 100% unsure on both of those."Rahma said he opposed the Biden-Harris administration’s support for Israel’s war in Gaza.Rahma said he had three phone calls with Kamala's staff and noted that he wanted to ask Harris a question about the Israel-Hamas War — but the vice president's handlers said the Middle East conflict was off-limits.“It was so complicated because I’m Muslim and there’s something going on in the world that 100% of Muslims care about,” Rahma told the New York Times. “And then they made it worse by talking about anchovies. Boring!” The Harris campaign allegedly apologized for the bacon take and proposed a reshoot. However, Rahma was not interested in another interview with Harris. “I never wanted to be a politics person,” he added. “The more I think about it, the more I feel like I got lucky.”The Harris campaign did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment. In August, Rahma conducted an interview with Kamala's running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who talked about how Americans are failing to maintain the gutters on their homes. As Blaze News reported this week, a poll from the Council on American-Islamic Relations had worrying concerns for the Harris campaign. The poll found that Green Party candidate Jill Stein has more support among Muslims, at 42.3%, than Harris, at 41%. On Saturday, Muslim community leaders in Minnesota showed support for former President Donald Trump. Like Blaze News? Megyn Kelly joins Trump at rally to urge voter support

Megyn Kelly campaigned alongside former President Donald Trump at his rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Monday evening.During her speech, Kelly explained why she has chosen to vote for Trump, citing his stance on immigration as the reason."And people like Laken Riley," Kelly said. "I'll be thinking about her tomorrow all day. Twenty-two years old, killed in Georgia, a young nursing student, by an illegal. I'll be thinking about Jocelyn Nungaray, 12 years old in Texas, murdered by two Venezuelan illegals."'Oh, wait, I'm talking about Kamala and Doug.'Kelly declared that Trump's opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, opened the nation's borders "by choice" and that it "wasn't accidental.""She said it would be humane," Kelly stated. "That's what she and her boss believed. Tell it to Laken Riley's family."She also praised Trump for protecting women."The boys should not be in the girls' locker rooms. Payton McNabb, North Carolina sophomore in high school, slammed so hard in the face by a volleyball hit at her by a boy pretending to be a girl. She suffered traumatic brain injury and permanent paralysis," Kelly continued."Kamala Harris looks at her and says, 'Be kind. Suck it up.' And, 'That's what's right.' Why do our girls have to face brain damage in order to be kind to boys who want to invade their sports?" she questioned.Kelly slammed Harris for changing the laws in California to allow prisoners to receive taxpayer-funded gender mutilation surgeries."She was not just following the law; she changed the law. President Trump will stop it," she added."He got mocked by the left for saying he would be a protector of women," Kelly declared. "He will be a protector of women, and it's why I'm voting for him. He will close the border. He will keep the boys out of girls' sports and where they don't belong."She noted that Trump "will look out for our boys too.""He will not look at our boys like they're second-class citizens. And ladies out there who want a bit of girl power in this election, let me tell you something: How can you win when the sons and the husbands and the brothers and the dads that you love are losing?" Kelly asked. She took a jab at the left for backward views on masculinity and marriage, citing a campaign ad that encouraged wives to vote for Harris behind the backs of their Trump-supporting husbands. "That's their version of what marriage looks like," Kelly told the audience. "An overbearing husband who bullies his wife into saying she voted one way, as opposed to an honest, open relationship.""Oh, wait, I'm talking about Kamala and Doug [Emhoff]," Kelly jeered. She further slammed the liberal media for failing to press Emhoff on allegations of abuse."Vote Trump," Kelly concluded. "And get 10 friends to vote Trump, too."Kelly's endorsement of Trump marked a complete turnaround from their once-contentious past.During the first 2016 Republican primary debate, then-Fox News host Kelly confronted Trump regarding his controversial comments about women.“You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,” Kelly said to Trump. He quipped, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”“For the record, it was well beyond Rosie O’Donnell,” Kelly replied.Like Blaze News? Pacific races bode well for Republicans in 2024 election

The Legislature of Guam, comprising 15 senators of whom nine are presently Democrats and six are Republicans, has been under Democratic control since March 2008 — but will be no longer. According to the unofficial results released Tuesday and finalized early Wednesday by the Guam Election Commission, Republicans will control the legislature come January. The Pacific Daily News noted that while Democrats clinched three of the top five spots in the race for the legislature, Republicans ultimately secured a majority with all precincts counted, such that in January, the territory's Senate will be flipped 9-6 in their favor. Extra to flipping the legislature, Republican James Moylan, a member of Congress representing Guam's at-large congressional district, defeated his Democratic challenger, Ginger Cruz, 52.69% to 46.81%. 'The winds of change are blowing.' While the residents of Guam cannot vote in American presidential elections, they nevertheless conduct a straw poll. In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden beat President Donald Trump in the straw poll 55.38% to 41.91%. This time around, Trump nearly closed the gap. Kamala Harris beat him in the straw poll Tuesday 49.56% to 46.22%. Former CNN contributor Ryan Girdusky suggested that a "political realignment" appears to be under way, highlighting that in 2012, Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney in the straw poll by roughly 46 percentage points. In 2016, Hillary Clinton beat Trump in the poll by 47 points. In this election, the Republican candidate was within three points. Conservative filmmaker Robby Starbuck appeared to agree, writing, "While meaningless for electoral votes, the winds of change are blowing." Republican gains in the Pacific are not limited to Guam. Kimberlyn King-Hinds appears to have successfully beat Democrat Edwin Propst to represent Northern Mariana Islands' at-large congressional district. According to the Saipan Tribune, Propst conceded the race early on Wednesday and congratulated King-Hinds, writing, "I wish you the very best." At the time of publication, King-Hinds had secured 40.34% of the vote, whereas Probst netted only 33.27%. Like Blaze News? Dragon Age: The Veilguard's First Patch Changes Announced

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is one of those games that received a largely positive critical response but a much lower score from casual players. BioWare intends to shore up some flaws with its latest patch release in the hopes of winning favor with at least some fans who were angry because of early bugs. While there is no solid date for the patch update, the company says it will release soon. Very soon. "This week" soon.
