Couple Take Chance on ‘Mouthy’ Dog Overlooked in Shelter—Have Zero Regrets

In central Pennsylvania, a couple are the happy new owners of a dog that was seriously in need of a loving, calm, disciplined home after spending a year at a shelter. This pit bull/rottweiler mix named Jax is a cheery enough fellow, but such a long time in a shelter, coupled with poor training during […] The post Couple Take Chance on ‘Mouthy’ Dog Overlooked in Shelter—Have Zero Regrets appeared first on Good News Network.

Iconic Silent Film Stars That Shaped Cinema As We Know It

During the silent film era between the mid-1890s and the late 1920s, movies were almost always accompanied by live music. What made them truly "silent" was that there was no audible dialogue, with the plot usually being conveyed using title cards, and relying on the skill of the actors to portray emotion. It was during this time the first movie stars began to shape the film industry into what we... Source

Calling Trump ‘Hitler’ Trivializes Horrors of Nazism, Undermines Historical Understanding

It may be impossible to overstate the damage done to morality by the Democrats and other leftists calling Donald Trump a fascist and a Nazi and declaring him “Hitler.” Asked by Anderson Cooper on CNN if she believes Trump is a “fascist,” Kamala Harris said, “Yes, I do.” With regard to calling Trump “Hitler,” Newsweek’s fact-checker concluded: “Harris didn’t directly call Trump ‘Hitler.’ However, many will think she came very close to it: She confirmed that she believes Trump is a fascist, quoted [retired four-star General, and one of Donald Trump’s White House chiefs of staff, John] Kelly’s unfavorable comments (Kelly said Trump ‘wanted generals like Adolf Hitler had’) and suggested Trump would ‘invoke’ Hitler.” Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, compared the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden to the 1939 Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden. Many Hitler historians have done similarly. In a 2017 essay in the Los Angeles Review of Books, Ron Rosenbaum, author of a New York Times bestselling biography of Adolf Hitler, “Explaining Hitler,” compared Trump to Hitler: [The views of] Trump and his minions … come out of a playbook written in German. … The playbook is “Mein Kampf.” What I want to suggest is an actual comparison with Hitler that deserves thought. It’s what you might call the secret technique, a kind of rhetorical control that both Hitler and Trump used on their opponents, especially the media. Alan Bullock [the first major Hitler biographer] … had initially argued [that] it was likely [Hitler] had believed in nothing and just used the Jew-hatred to advance his cause with the nitwit thug segment of the German people. Just as Trump appealed to his nitwit thug racist, antisemite followers. … This is the comparison I’d been seeking. In April, the Los Angeles Times published an opinion piece, “Trump Turns His Trials Into a Soapbox. Does He Know He’s Channeling Hitler?” It was written by another Hitler scholar, Timothy W. Ryback, a former lecturer at Harvard (surprise!) whose most recent book is “Takeover: Hitler’s Final Rise to Power.” His conclusion: “The alarm-clanging couplet of Hitler’s and Trump’s courtroom appearances, two demagogues—separated by a century—exploiting their constitutionally guaranteed rights to free speech and due process in an effort to undermine democratic processes and structures, should serve as a sobering warning as we approach an election to determine who will be running the next government of the United States.” The abuse of language is a fundamental characteristic of the Left. Leftists have done this not only to “Hitler,” “Nazi,” and “fascist” but to “genocide,” “apartheid,” “racist,” and virtually every other term connoting evil. It started with Stalin calling Trotsky a fascist and it continues to this day. The harm, as I wrote above, cannot be overstated. Calling Trump “Hitler” and “Nazi” utterly trivializes Hitler and Nazism. Young people, the recipients of a largely worthless education in American schools—especially regarding history—know little, if anything, about Hitler and Nazism. For most of them, therefore, if Trump is Hitler, then Hitler was Trump. Hitler was nothing worse than a German version of Trump—not the instigator of World War II and the creator of the Holocaust; just a German Donald Trump. It is beyond belief that American Jewish organizations and American veterans groups have not greeted the labeling of Trump “Hitler” with howls of protest. It is difficult to know if Hitler, Nazism, and the Holocaust will ever again evoke the horror that these words have heretofore evoked. That Jewish groups have not vigorously protested labeling Trump “Hitler” and “Nazi” only shows how deep the left-wing influence has been on most American Jewish organizations, especially the Anti-Defamation League, the organization founded to protect American Jews and combat antisemitism. Likewise, it beggars belief that veterans organizations haven’t vociferously condemned the trivialization of Hitler and Nazism. Did hundreds of thousands of Americans die fighting a German Trump? Was the D-Day invasion of Normandy about fighting Trump supporters? If Trump represents the same embodiment of evil as Hitler and the Nazis, the word no longer has meaning. Maddow, Reid, Wallace: For Election Night, MSNBC Assembles the 'Primetime Avengers'!

The eager-beaver publicists for "legacy media" in the Hollywood trade magazines can be expected to write some puketastic PR in the leadup to Election Night coverage. But this headline for Brian Sternberg's valentine in Variety should come with a complimentary air sickness bag:  MSNBC's Primetime ‘Avengers': Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace and Joy Reid Assemble to Battle Cable News' Old Rules That's not the only metaphor, there's this gem: Maddow is "the captain of our ship. She is Captain Kirk," says Reid, referring to the commanding "Star Trek" character. For regular NewsBusters readers, it might recall then-PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor shortly after the 2020 election comparing Biden's cabinet picks to the Avengers. When news breaks, Rachel and Nicolle and Joy break out!  When "The Avengers" are needed, no one can ignore the alert. Reid, Wallace and Maddow look nothing like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor or any of the other super-powered characters who populate the well-watched Marvel films from Disney. And yet, on MSNBC, where each anchors her own program, they are part of an assemblage that is being convened with greater frequency. "When there's a moment," says Rashida Jones, MSNBC's president, the network likes to "bring the team together and elevate the seriousness of the news." NEWS? Is that what they're doing in primetime? The executives like that it offers viewers the whole menu of hot-take options:  Internally, executives call the concept "The Avengers" and have employed it more than 20 times this year. On a recent September evening, the "Avengers" were spotted clambering one by one into a studio. Their mission: to analyze the presidential debate between U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, all from NBCUniversal's New York headquarters. First came Chris Hayes –"I'm the only one who's on time!" he joked - followed soon by Jen Psaki, armed with hot coffee; Maddow, entering quietly; a gregarious Stephanie Ruhle; and then Reid. Melber, Wallace and O'Donnell would join later, while Wagner held forth from Philadelphia, the site of the actual parley. There's no world-beating villain to vanquish when the MSNBC personalities team up, but they are in fact doing battle with pernicious forces. Sternberg means market forces, but we all know the supervillain is Trump. Every MSNBC watchers knows how they plot this.  MSNBC has grouped anchors together at many times in its history, but the "Avengers" concept really started to gain traction in 2022. That's when one executive in a brainstorming session raised the idea of trying to harness the conversation that takes place between the network's hosts for an on-air concept, says Jones, as "if you listen to them talking in the hallway." Viewers would see "collegiality" and "authenticity," she adds, and someone asked, "'How do we make that the show?' And that's how it was born." At the same time, Maddow, Wallace and Reid noticed an intensifying of the conversations they would have every day, often via text. They might discuss what their sources are telling them or their takes on different issues. Getting that on camera made sense, says Reid. "What the audience is getting out of that is our collective journalistic enterprise - but in triplicate," she says. "It's so much more powerful when we are all doing the work at the same time." We also learn that Maddow brings snacks. She "often carries a large bag filled with various kinds of jerky that she always offers to her colleagues. The overture is not often welcome."

Google Makes Its Preference Clear, Continues Search Manipulation on Election Day

Google Makes Its Preference Clear, Continues Search Manipulation on Election Day

It is election day, and Google is still unrepentantly pushing leftist and legacy media on voters searching for the presidential race.  Throughout October, every time MRC researchers searched the terms “donald trump presidential race 2024” and “kamala harris presidential race 2024,” Google rigged the results to bury right-leaning media outlet articles. Election Day is no different.  Utilizing the media list provided by AllSides, which classifies publications based on their “right” to “left” bias, MRC Free Speech America found that while search giant Google did finally show one right-leaning media article on the first page of results in its “Top stories” section, it continues to bury right-leaning media outlets in its actual search results. In a study conducted Nov. 5, MRC researchers discovered Google burying the first U.S.-based right-leaning news search result for the Trump prompt on the twelfth page as the seventh result. Meanwhile, Google buried the first right-leaning news search result for the Harris prompt as the 10th result on the ninth page. “Google has shown itself to be radically anti-American,” said MRC Free Speech America Director Michael Morris. “To say that the results of this mini study are just par for the course for Google would be an understatement. The search giant has made its preference known as MRC research continues to make clear. It has chosen to side against America’s first principles and in favor of elevating the left’s ideology above all else.” The vastness of Google’s influence underscores the danger of its manipulation of search results. Google is uniquely positioned to have a significant impact on the most users. Despite the existence of competitors such as Luxxle, DuckDuckGo and Microsoft’s Bing, Alphabet subsidiaries Google and YouTube account for 90 percent of daily internet searches. Offering voters an overwhelming number of left-of-center media to choose from, while burying right-of-center media outlets has serious consequences. A November 2023 Pew Research survey showed that more and more Americans prefer using search engines to get their news, with 15 percent of adults preferring them—up from 13 percent in 2022 and 11 percent in 2011.  How is Google using this tremendous power? Google chose to prominently display leftist and legacy media sources such as CBS News, USA Today, NPR, CNN and Politico in its search results. The search giant even prominently and repeatedly featured an outlet whose editorial board endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, The New York Times.  In fact, only two U.S.-based right-of-center results appeared in the first fifteen pages for the Trump prompt, two out of nearly 150 results. For the Harris prompt, there were five such results in the first fifteen pages. This is far from the first time Google has placed its finger on the scale to manipulate search results on the presidential race. Successive studies on Oct. 30, Oct. 22, Oct. 15, Oct. 9 and Oct. 1 all showed that Google was burying right-of-center media outlets in its search results. For example, on Oct. 9 Google buried the first U.S.-based right-of-center result for the Trump prompt (a Fox News video) on page 23. Google did not show a single U.S.-based right-of-center news article anywhere on Oct. 9 as the results ran out at 26 pages.  Google’s election interference was also exposed by a September study showing that the search giant buried former president Donald Trump’s campaign website beneath a deluge of leftist news articles.  MRC Free Speech America has kept track of how censorship like this by Google has negatively impacted publications such as the New York Post, Fox News and others, alongside 238 other examples of Google censorship in our exclusive CensorTrack.org database.  Methodology  For this report, MRC Free Speech America analyzed the Nov. 5 Google search results of the innocuous words “donald trump presidential race 2024” and “kamala harris presidential race 2024.” MRC Free Speech America created an algorithm to automate this process in a clean environment. A “clean environment” allows for organic search to populate results without the influence of prior search history and tracking cookies. MRC Free Speech America also utilized the AllSides media bias chart as a gauge to determine which outlets are “right” and “lean right.” AllSides notes it has a “patent on rating bias and use[s] multiple methodologies,” not a homogenous group or an algorithm. “Our methods are: Blind Bias Surveys of Americans, Editorial Reviews by a multipartisan team of panelists who look for common types of media bias, independent reviews, and third-party data.” Readers should be aware that this report only uses the AllSides list to analyze ratings of outlets considered by AllSides to be “right” and “lean right” and does not necessarily reflect MRC’s characterizations of these outlets. Daily Show, Atlantic Warn Of 'Republican Informant' And 'Snitch State'

Comedy Central’s Jordan Klepper and The Atlantic’s Adam Serwer joined forces on Monday to get in one last pre-election scare message for The Daily Show’s audience that warned of a “Republican informant state” or a “snitch state.” Klepper put the ball on the tee by asking, “You have another article that's in the most recent print edition of The Atlantic that talks about this Republican informant state, turning everybody into an informant. What is this snitch state you are speaking to?”     Serwer began by going after Texas and pro-lifers, “I think before Roe v. Wade was overturned, there was this Texas ban that was passed, you know, I live in Texas, I live in San Antonio, and this ban almost passed that was based on the idea that, you know, if you had -- you could file a lawsuit in court over someone aiding or abetting an abortion and you could get $10,000 for that.” As he would go on, Serwer would throw in some references to education reforms but mostly stick to abortion, “Now, that is a law that, sort of, incentivizes snitching. It's a snitch law and what we found is that laws in Texas and in other conservative states, I mean, you can look at Florida, they, sort of, incentivize this informing on people for things that conservatives think should not be acceptable and whether that's in some cases, you talk about school curriculums or not just abortion, but discussing abortion.” The Democratic vice presidential nominee set up what may be considered a snitch line in 2020 for people to report on people they suspected of violating COVID restrictions. Staying on the abortion hype train, Serwer added, “You know, a law like that is not just about making sure people don't have abortions, but it is about making sure the people don't discuss them because you don't want somebody to sue you or sue someone you love on the basis of the fact that you, you know, paid for the Uber that took them to the airport that they then got on a plane and went to Colorado to get an abortion because they couldn't get basic health care in their home state.” Serwer also claimed, “These laws incentivize people to snitch on their friends and neighbors, you know, in the hopes of recreating stigmas that I think, you know, are no longer in society in the way that they once were. Obviously, you can't necessarily argue people out of believing those things, but you can pass a law that says you are not allowed to bring a book by Ta-Nehisi Coates into the classroom. Otherwise, you might get fired.” Coates’s latest book is simply anti-Israel propaganda, so, no, you shouldn’t be allowed to teach from it. One also has to doubt Serwer and Klepper would be happy if public schools started teaching from Abigail Shrier’s books critical of transgender ideology. Here is a transcript for the November 4 show: Comedy Central The Daily Show 11/4/2024 11:27 PM ET JORDAN KLEPPER: You have another article that's in the most recent print edition of The Atlantic that talks about this Republican informant state, turning everybody into an informant. What is this snitch state you are speaking to? ADAM SERWER: I think before Roe v. Providence saved Trump — now voters must save the country

On July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, Donald Trump glanced at a screen displaying immigration statistics as he addressed a massive crowd of supporters. A moment later, on his knees, blood streaming down his face, he struggled to his feet and reassured his supporters that he would continue the fight. With one turn of his head, our world could have changed dramatically.I do not know what would have happened in the timeline where an assassin splattered Trump’s brain live on camera. What kind of conflict and chaos could have erupted if the liberal media and ghoulish Democrats had gotten their deepest wish? I do not want to know. What I do know is that providence spared both Donald Trump and our beloved country that day, and now the moment of truth has come.Even if Trump does secure the necessary votes, the battle will be far from over.It is no secret that I am not a huge fan of what our republic has become. Mass democracy was never what the founding fathers wanted for this country, and I am more tired than most of hearing that “this is the most important election of our lifetime.” But with the weaponization of our justice system, the open attempt to take the opposing candidate off the ballot by any means necessary, and the flagrant effort to import a foreign voting base to dominate all future elections, it is hard not to see this moment as pivotal. The Biden-Harris administration has normalized censorship, jailed political opponents, and made thinly veiled calls for violence. Another four years of open borders will permanently shift the electoral balance in favor of the Democratic Party, eroding our shared culture and way of life. If the left can imprison opponents and bring in a new voting base, we might still technically have elections — much like Saddam Hussein’s elections — but they would no longer influence governance. America would become a one-party state.Despite an initial burst of astroturfed internet buzz, Kamala Harris has revealed herself to be the cynical, inept, and unlikeable DEI disaster every honest Democrat knew she was.Harris was installed without winning a single primary, and the initial plan was to hide her from the public and hope that hatred for Trump would push her over the finish line. The campaign did its best to manage her exposure, but eventually Harris was required to begrudgingly make media appearances, in which she managed to embarrass herself despite having friendly interviewers and generous editing.Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, took exactly the opposite approach. Both participated in lengthy interviews, often with hostile interlocutors, and performed admirably. A savvy embrace of new media and influential podcasters exposed younger male voters to Trump and Vance, energizing a critical demographic. Joe Rogan, probably the most culturally relevant talk show host since Oprah Winfrey, even put aside his previous support for Bernie Sanders to endorse the real estate tycoon. It’s clear that the momentum is on Trump’s side.It is likely that we may not see a formal election result Tuesday night. The media has been preparing voters for a long counting process, and many state officials have echoed this refrain. For most of my life, one-night election results were the norm, and with the odd exception of the 2000 presidential election, everyone assumed this was the basic standard in an orderly First World country. The fact that the Democratic Party has succeeded in extending and obfuscating the election process should tell you everything about how far “our democracy” has fallen.Even if Trump does secure the necessary votes, the battle will be far from over. Several Democrats have already announced their intention to reject certification even if Trump secures a legitimate victory, and you can be sure that leftist groups are already planning violence if he returns to office. If Trump does become the 47th president, he will still face an uphill battle against a malicious media, hostile deep state, and corrupt Republican Party. A Trump victory is not a panacea, and conservatives will need to do the hard work of holding him to his promises while building local and state power. But none of these challenges matter if Harris is installed to carry out the disastrous leftist agenda. So on Election Day, remember that you witnessed a miracle and fight for the future of your country. May God forever bless our country, bringing us to repentance and guiding us to a better future.
