Nintendo’s music app has great ideas and frustrating limitations

Image: The Verge Listening to Nintendo music isn’t easy. It’s not available on streaming platforms, so I usually end up scouring YouTube for songs from Animal Crossing and Metroid. Because of this, I was hoping that Nintendo Music, a new app that surprise-launched last week, would be my one-stop shop for listening to Nintendo soundtracks. But while it features some clever ideas, there are lots of frustrations and weird choices from Nintendo that mean it isn’t quite what I was hoping for. Navigating the app, which is available on iOS and Android but only accessible to Switch Online subscribers, feels a lot like other music services like Apple Music or Spotify. You can browse tracks from individual games or hand-curated playlists themed around things like... Continue reading…

One new Apple Vision Pro feature can finally unlock its true potential

visionOS 2 brought a few important features to Apple Vision Pro users out there. However, one of the key expected functions was delayed from the original release of this software update. With visionOS 2.1, there was no sign of this feature being released. Thankfully, in the first beta of visionOS 2.2, Apple added wide and ultrawide modes to Mac Virtual Display. Here's what this feature is all about: Using Mac Virtual Display is like having an expandable, ultrawide screen that wraps around you.1 It’s the equivalent of having two 4K displays sitting side by side — everything looks astoundingly sharp and incredibly detailed. Currently, Apple Vision Pro users can mirror their Mac display into the spatial computing world. However, this visionOS 2.2 feature unlocks the new wide and ultrawide mode. Previously, users would have a standard view, which was already interesting. Now, with an ultrawide view, Apple says it feels like you have two physical 4K displays sitting side by side on a desk, except you don't have something limiting the two displays. This Apple Vision Pro feature is perfect for anyone multitasking on a Mac, and it feels better than having several windows floating around. With this feature, you can open several apps at once and visualize them before you with Vision Pro's incredible displays. Not only will this boost productivity, but it will also make this spatial computer a more compelling upgrade than two Studio Displays, as you can use it for more than just mirroring your Mac once you finish working. Apple is expected to expand Mac Visual Display in early December when visionOS 2.2 is expected to be released to all users. While rumors about a new Vision Pro are contradictory, the latest reports expect Apple to update this product next year with a more capable processor, most likely the M5. However, a revamped interaction is still a few years away. Below, you can learn more about visionOS and other Vision Pro features. What Could Your Urine Tell a Medieval Doctor?

What Could Your Urine Tell a Medieval Doctor?

In modern medicine, urine samples are routinely examined in laboratories to obtain clinical information about a patient. This procedure, known as urinalysis, developed from an ancient medical process called uroscopy. Although mostly discredited today, doctors used to use a urine wheel to diagnose illnesses up until the middle of the 19th century. While uroscopy may be traced back to the ancient Greek and Roman periods, it was only during the Middle Ages that it became a significant method of medical examination. Urology was greatly aided during this period by the development of the urine wheel. In essence, this was a chart (in the form of a wheel) which helped the medieval physician in his diagnosis of a patient’s illness. A urine wheel (Shoricelu/AdobeStock) The urine wheel is divided into 20 different parts, each of which shows a different color of urine. In addition to observing the urine, it may be assumed that the physicians of the Middle Ages also relied on their sense of taste and smell, as the taste and smell of a patient’s urine were affected by the illness they were suffering from, and generally corresponded with specific colors. The 17th century English physician Thomas Willis noted that the urine of a diabetic patient tasted “wonderfully sweet as if it were imbued with honey or sugar.” It was Willis who coined the term ‘mellitus’ (meaning ‘sweetened with honey’) in diabetes mellitus, and this disorder was once known as ‘Willis’s disease’.   Read moreSection: NewsGeneralScienceFolkloreEuropeHistoryAncient TraditionsPreviewRead Later

Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy (For Two)

Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy (For Two)

Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy for Two is an easy dinner recipe that features tender, seasoned shredded chicken coated in a creamy gravy! A HEARTY CROCK POT DINNER RECIPE FOR TWO My original Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy recipe is one of my most popular. But sometimes you just don’t need to make as much, right? So, I figured, why not make a smaller version so you can have a delicious filling dinner for two? My other recipes for two have been such a big hit everyone that I thought I would take some of the more popular recipes on my site and scale them down for you so you don’t have to do all the work of figuring it out yourself. I will say that if your chicken breasts are large, you will probably have a little leftover but it will be perfect for a little lunch the next day but not a ton leftover that you will be sick of it after 3 days! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:  What other seasoning can I use? Any other seasoning will work, if you prefer something else over the simple blend I used . You could try lemon pepper, Creole or Mrs. Dash seasoning. I would just be careful when choosing other options that include more salt. There’s already plenty of salt in the cream of chicken soup and the gravy mix, so if you add too much more, it’ll become too salty. How can I make this even creamier? You can make this dish even creamier by add some sour cream or heavy cream to the mixture closer to the end of the cooking time. Why is this sauce so thick? It might look like the sauce will be too thick when you first add it, but once the chicken cooks and releases its juices, it all comes together to form the perfect gravy. What can I serve this with? I like to serve this Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy for Two over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. It goes really nice with my Stovetop Mashed Potatoes or my Crock Pot Mashed Potatoes. How do I store leftovers? Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or microwave. Freeze for up to 3 months. INGREDIENTS NEEDED: (SEE RECIPE CARD BELOW FOR THE FULL RECIPE) boneless, skinless chicken breasts– chicken thighs or chicken tenders can be used. garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper – you can season the chicken however you like. Lemon pepper seasoning and cajun seasoning also work. condensed cream of chicken soup– grab a can of it or make your own Cream of Chicken Soup. You could even try using Cream of Mushroom Soup, or whatever Cream of Something Soup you enjoy instead. If you’re sensitive to salt, you can use low sodium, or no sodium versions of this soup. water packet of chicken gravy mix– again, if you are sensitive to salt, you can try a low sodium gravy mix option if you have one. HOW TO MAKE CROCK POT CHICKEN AND GRAVY FOR TWO: Season the chicken on both sides with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Place the seasoned chicken into the bottom of a 4-6 quart slow cooker. In a large bowl, whisk together the chicken soup, water, and gravy mix. Pour the sauce over the chicken and place on low for 5-6 hours or high 3-4 hours. Once the chicken is done cooking, shred it with a fork. Stir everything together in the pot so the chicken is well coated in the gravy. Serve immediately. Hollywood Actor Looks Scarily Just Like Marlon Brando’s ‘Godfather’ In New Photos

As the biopic Waltzing with Brando is being prepared for release, fans cannot wait to see Billy Zane in his role as Marlon Brando, who died of a rare respiratory disease in 2004. Zane looks just like Marlo, especially after his transformation featuring a black tuxedo, a white shirt and cuff links, as well as a rose pinned to his jacket. Zane looked insanely similar to the real-life Brando as seen in snippet photos, as he combed his hair backwards like the deceased icon would have done. The movie portrays the life of Brando in the ‘70s and his feats with The Godfather, and The Last Tango In Paris. Billy Zane looks forward to playing ‘The Godfather’ Marlon Brando Marlon Brando/Everett The soon-to-be-released biopic is based on Bernard Judge’s 2011 memoir, which tells the story of a young architect who moves from Los Angeles to the South Pacific with Marlon Brando. Bill Fishman is the genius behind Waltzing With Brando, which was filmed in Tetiaroa. Zane considers his role a breakthrough one amongst many as he feels honored to step into Brando’s shoes, adding that is a demanding responsibility. It is yet another opportunity for Zane to prove his acting range, having starred in hits like The Titanic, and Back to the Future. Zane would be gracing the premiere event at Italy’s Torino Film Festival later this month. Billy Zane/YouTube video screenshot Fans react to Billy Zane and Marlon Brando’s resemblance As side-by-side photos of Zane in character and Brando made it to social media, fans cannot get over the uncanny resemblance between both actors. “you could’ve said this was a photo of marlon brando and i would’ve believed it,” An X user said, and many others agreed. Marlon Brando/Everett Another hoped the movie would be as good as the encouraging behind-the-scenes photos as they praised Zane for a potentially iconic comeback. “Billy Zane? this could be the role that puts him back on top if it’s done well,” a second person said.
