Voters in storm-ravaged western North Carolina counties showed up to vote early at a higher rate than the statewide average, assuaging fears that Hurricane Helene’s destruction on the area, which is heavily Republican, would negatively affect turnout. Early voting turnout in North Carolina set a record this year as more than 4.2 million people cast their ballots at early in-person locations before Election Day, according to the State Board of Elections, The Hill reported. The board added that the 25 counties affected by Helene saw a higher early voter turnout — 58.9% — than the statewide turnout, which was around 57%. “I am proud of all of our 100 county boards of elections and the thousands of election workers who are making this happen in their communities,” said Executive Director of the State Board of Election Karen Brinson Bell. “And I am especially proud of the workers and voters of Western North Carolina. You are an inspiration to us all.” Including absentee voting, North Carolina reported receiving nearly 4.5 million early votes as of Sunday morning. Early in-person voting in the state ended on Saturday afternoon. As of last Thursday, registered Republicans held a slight lead in total early votes cast in North Carolina, an important battleground state in the 2024 election. Unaffiliated voters surpassed registered Republicans in the final early vote tally, but Republicans beat out registered Democrats by over 40,000 early votes, DecisionDeskHQ’s Michael Pruser reported. A new ad urges male Trump supporters to secretly vote for Kamala Harris, reassuring them that “no one will ever know,” has been mocked online since its release. “Come on boys. Let’s make America great again,” one man in the ad says to his bearded friend as they head into a polling location.  “Before you cast your vote in this election, think about how it’ll impact the people you care about the most,” the voiceover says as the camera cuts to one voter’s phone lock screen, which features a photo of his family.  The ad next cuts to a little girl across the room yelling, “Daddy!”  The bearded man then catches eyes with the other man across from him and fills in the bubble for Harris/Walz.  “Remember, you can vote any way you want, and no one will ever know,” the voiceover says.  “Did you do your patriotic duty?” the voter’s friend asks, to which the bearded voter replies, “You bet I did, brother,” as he lifts the little girl into his arms.  “What happens in the booth, stays in the booth,” the voiceover concludes. Trump has said that if he wins, he will put Musk in charge of a new government efficiency commission that will cut wasteful spending as the national debt continues to explode. Musk has repeatedly warned about what will happen to the country if Trump does not win the election. “Unless @realDonaldTrump wins, this will be the last election,” Musk said on Sunday. “The Dems will legalize all the illegals in swing states, so there [will] be no more swing states.” “America will become a one-party, deep blue socialist state,” he added.

Vice President Kamala Harris entered the presidential race late and seemingly hoped to avoid scrutiny of her past positions. Without publicly disavowing her past positions on unpopular policies like banning fracking or mandatory gun buybacks, her aides insisted to media outlets that she had changed her mind on these issues. This is despite the fact that Harris herself said her “values have not changed.” But there is another list of issues that neither Harris nor her team have said she still supports. Typically Left-leaning outlet Axios published a list of such policies on Sunday, noting that “Harris is the ‘no comment’ candidate — purposely and strategically. She has calculated that it’s safer to be vague on policy matters than lampooned as a flip-flopper or left-winger.” Of course, that means voters who support her don’t have any actual clue what she actually supports – and that’s the way Harris and her campaign want it. Here’s the list of things Harris has supported in the past but has refused to say whether she still supports, per Axios: Executive actions to unilaterally give a path to citizenship to 2 million “Dreamers” — undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. Ending the death penalty on the federal level. Harris has opposed capital punishment since 2003. A mandate for automakers to only build electric or hydrogen vehicles by 2035. Executive actions to protect more than 6 million undocumented immigrants from deportation by expanding “deferred action” guidelines. Decriminalizing prostitution (“We can’t criminalize consensual behavior as long as no one is being harmed,” Harris said in 2019). Closing private, for-profit prisons, which she called “morally wrong.” Getting rid of the Senate filibuster in order to pass multitrillion-dollar Green New Deal legislation. In addition, Harris’ campaign wouldn’t tell CNN where she stood on two additional issues she held in 2019 during her first run for president: “Federal prisoners and detained immigrants obtaining taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries” and “an open-ended pledge to ‘end’ immigration detention.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ Axios also asked the Harris campaign if she still supported the following past positions, but the campaign declined to comment: Provide reparations to Black Americans because of slavery. Renegotiate international refugee rules to provide protections for people displaced by climate change and welcome them to the U.S. Install a climate envoy in every major embassy around the world. Issue national protections for 30% of the land and sea areas in the U.S. by 2030, which would limit drilling. Harris’ refusal to say where she is on certain issues has allowed former President Donald Trump’s campaign to tie her to President Joe Biden, whom Harris replaced as the Democratic nominee. Biden is increasingly unpopular, and Harris has said she couldn’t think of anything she would have done differently than Biden.

Finding petroglyphs in the rock formations of Utah and New Mexico is fairly commonplace. Many photographers hike out to photograph the ancient drawings. Daytime images show the intricacy of the drawings and the detail of each petroglyph. Astrophotographer Derek Culver was curious about what stone artwork would look like after dark. With the images of hands, you see the polydactyl trait of six fingers, which happens in humans and animals. The images against the backdrop of the open sky with visible stars and night sky formations are spectacular. Petroglyphs are an important part of New Mexico’s history. Created centuries ago by Spanish immigrants and Indigenous peoples, the images depict bits and pieces of life in the desert region. Boca Negra Canyon has more than 100 images, Rinconada Canyon hosts over 300, and Piedras Marcadas Canyon has over 400 images.
