Peanut The Squirrel’s Killing Points To A Larger Problem, Expert Says

Peanut the Squirrel was more than just a social media sensation. He was also the namesake of an animal rescue run by the New York couple that adopted him. Last year, Mark and Daniele Longo opened P’Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, “a haven where neglected and homeless animals receive a second chance at life” named after their pet squirrel, who they rescued seven years ago. The sanctuary, which they say has helped 350 animals, was made possible in a large part by donations gathered through Peanut’s viral social media accounts. Now that Peanut has been euthanized by New York State, Mark Longo worries the sanctuary may be in trouble. “We’ve relied heavily on PNUT and his internet family to gather donations to help more animals,” Longo wrote on Instagram. “I don’t even know how [we] will continue to fundraise for this nonprofit.” Longo says he is uncertain why the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) chose to seize and euthanize Peanut after seven years, during which time there had been no complaints about Peanut. But according to Center For Consumer Freedom Managing Director Will Coggin, the DEC’s actions are inline with the misguided approach of the animal welfare movement. “The death of Peanut appears to track with a broader trend in the animal rights movement of killing animals,” Coggin told The Daily Wire. “Sadly, many of these people have a ‘better dead than fed’ mentality.” Coggin pointed to one “shocking” case of Maya the Chihuahua, who PETA employees allegedly took from a Virginia family’s front porch and euthanized. Maya’s owner, Wilbur Cerate, told WAVY at the time that security footage from his home shows two women exiting a PETA van that pulls up to his property, putting Maya in the van, and driving away. Cerate told WAVY that the women returned three days later with “a fruit basket and terrible news — Maya had been euthanized.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ NOW STREAMING ON DAILYWIRE+ Accomack County Sheriff Todd Godwin charged the workers with larceny, but the local commonwealth’s attorney dropped the charge. According to Coggin, Peanut and Maya are just two of many animals who have suffered such fates. “PETA euthanized 79% of the dogs and cats it took in last year at its ‘shelter,’ which state inspectors likened to a ‘euthanasia clinic,’” Coggin said. Though PETA has national recognition, Center For Consumer Freedom data suggests that it’s smaller animal rescues like P’Nuts Freedom Farm that do the majority of actual rescuing. The group found that PETA only adopted 58 animals in 2022, a 2.1% adoption rate. The nearby Norfolk Animal Care & Adoption Center, it said, took in 4,337 animals that year, and had a euthanasia rate of just 10%.

Walz, In Master’s Thesis, Said Genocide Education Shouldn’t Focus On Holocaust

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has built his image around his career as a teacher, earned his master’s degree in education with a thesis on how to teach genocide that deemphasized the Holocaust, suggesting it be used primarily “as a means to educate students on the dangers of racism.” Walz submitted the 25-page paper, “Improving Human Rights and Genocide Studies In The American High School Classroom,” to Minnesota State University in 2001. In the capstone, which was obtained by The Daily Wire, Walz said research showed that Minnesota students couldn’t pinpoint the role that racism played in the Holocaust. Rather than addressing the apparent lack of empathy for Jews, Walz suggests teachers us Holocaust “as a means to educate students on the dangers of racism,” so they can identify early signs of discrimination against other groups. He acknowledged that this argument “was controversial because [sic] the implication the Jewish Holocaust was not viewed as a ‘watershed’ event in human history.” But he did not seem worried about the controversy, writing that “If the Jewish Holocaust is a requirement of the state or local district this is a perfect time to fit it into the unit,” but that “At no time should this current unit be referred to as a Holocaust unit.” Elsewhere, the paper said “American high schools must begin to broaden the scope of studies into genocide and human rights violations. This means continuing to teach the lessons learned in the Jewish Holocaust, but to not limit those lessons to one incident of genocide.” The paper proposed requirements geared toward giving “students the necessary background information to apply historical examples of abuses to current world situations.” “What never again means is never again will European Jews be killed in Europe, it does not mean never again to genocide,” Walz wrote in the introduction. Walz’s running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris, has repeatedly likened former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, a rhetorical barb that some Jews say simultaneously degrades the severity of the actual Holocaust and uses its memory to manipulate people for political reasons. Trump was president from 2017 to 2021 and did not kill six million people. Walz leaves it to schoolteachers to identify which groups and countries may be on the precipice of genocide and flag them to students.  He said teachers could “single out some countries…that are experiencing pre-genocidal conditions.” “Political, social, and economic intervention may help prevent future genocide,” Walz writes. “Great care must me [sic] taken by the teacher to choose examples of economic conditions that are found in all cases were [sic] genocide occurs. The same is true of the political climate of the times the genocide was committed.” “Schools are teaching about the Jewish Holocaust, but the way it is traditionally being taught is not leading to increased knowledge of the causes of genocide in all parts of the world. Better methods of instruction, a variety of resources, and a commitment to the teaching of the causes of genocide rather than specific incidents will give students the understanding of the elements that lead to genocide,” he said. He pointed approvingly to a Massachusetts law mandating teaching about horrors — which listed “the transatlantic slave trade” first and “the holocaust and the Mussolini fascist regime” last — in which “the key change was the lack of emphasis on the Holocaust and a broader definition of genocide and human rights as areas of study. This multidisciplinary approach was what researchers have found to work.” Walz lauded modern resources in which “the Armenian genocide and the Cambodian genocide was presented in the same manner as the database for the Holocaust. This equality of subject treatment was also reflective of the current trends in genocide education.” He does not mention the Holodomor, in which the Soviet Union killed up to five million Ukrainians. “The traditional mindset of holocaust education stated horrible acts committed against others were done by evil people. This seemed to remove all possible causes for the acts from the human realm and move them into the good versus evil realm. This does nothing to teach the causes of the actions,” he wrote. Walz’s capstone includes several spelling and grammar issues. The governor misuses apostrophes in phrases like “Amnesty Internationals’ webpage,” and repeatedly writes “lead” where he meant “led.”

“American Pickers” Star Mike Wolfe Details Frank Fritz’s Heartbreaking & Healing Final Moments,  “I Was Holding His Hand”

American Pickers stars Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe found their way back to each other during Frank’s final days, and in a new interview, Mike emotionally shared that he was by Frank’s side when his friend took his last breath. “I got the call that he wasn’t doing well,” he told People. “I just feel blessed that I was able to get there; I was there for about an hour before he passed. And I was holding his hand and rubbing his chest when he took his last breath. I took my fingers, and I closed his eyes.” Frank and Mike’s story began in middle school. When they met, they became immediate friends and bonded over their shared struggles of growing up without fathers. Mike grew to admire Frank’s steadfast resilience while they moved “through life.”  “He was one of those guys, no matter who we talked to, he could always make people feel comfortable and let them know that they’re being heard,” Mike shared before noting that Frank “was an extremely hard worker” who owned his first home by the time he was 19. He was like no one I’d ever met in my whole life,” he remembered. When Mike Wolfe Envisioned “American Pickers,” Frank Fritz Was His Biggest Supporter When Mike Wolfe first envisioned American Pickers, Frank Fritz was “the only person who didn’t make fun of [him]. Mike fought for years to get his series on television. And while others scoffed, Frank offered unwavering support. When Mike finally got his big break, Frank was right by his side. Then, for 11 years, the two traveled the country searching for dusty treasures for The History Channel. But in 2021, Frank disappeared from the screen. In an interview with The Sun, he admitted that he had gone into treatment for alcoholism. He also shared that, due to the circumstances, he and Mike had a falling out. Fans and the media made their assumptions. The results were devastating. “This is so hard for me to talk about because there were a lot of things that were said that weren’t true. And I always continued to pray for him. But unfortunately, the things that we want for someone… sometimes [it’s] just not enough, and they have to want these things for themselves,” he told People. The former best friends backed away from each other, but Mike “never stepped away from him completely.” Fortunately, they had a tearful reunion and forgave each other. Shortly after, Frank suffered a serious stroke. Complications ultimately took his life. Frank Fritz died on September 30, 2024. He was 60. Mike Wolfe was able to make it to Frank Fritz’s bedside, and he stayed with him until he passed. “I just told him that I wasn’t mad at him and that I loved him and that I cared about him so much,” he recalled. “And then when I could see that he was struggling, I just said, ‘Just go find your mom. Go find her right now. Just go find her.'” This story’s featured image is by Debby Wong via Shutterstock. Jeff Bezos Has a Point on Media Trust, and the Liz Cheney Lie Proves It

Ya can’t make it up. It seems that wherever one turns in the traditional, mainstream liberal media things are in a mess. Let’s start with the Washington Post. Here is the centerpiece of liberal media in the nation’s capitol, the place made famous in the day by its coverage of Watergate and the rise to movie celebrity of reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Acquired in 2013 by Amazon zillionaire Jeff Bezos, the relatively new owner has written a piece headlined:  The hard truth: Americans don’t trust the news media A note from our owner. Says Bezos in his piece, written as an answer to his furious employees angry not just that the Post did not endorse for president - but that it didn’t endorse Democrat Harris: In the annual public surveys about trust and reputation, journalists and the media have regularly fallen near the very bottom, often just above Congress. But in this year’s Gallup poll, we have managed to fall below Congress. Our profession is now the least trusted of all. Something we are doing is clearly not working. ….Most people believe the media is biased. Anyone who doesn’t see this is paying scant attention to reality, and those who fight reality lose. Bingo. And as fortune would have it, a number of media outlets in a fit of un-self awareness, quickly proved Bezos’ point after he had written that. The subject at hand was a remark by former President Trump, attacking his GOP nemesis, former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney. As reported -- accurately -- by Fox News, Trump said this of Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney at an Arizona event:  I don’t blame him (Dick Cheney) for sticking with his daughter, but his daughter is a very dumb individual. Very dumb, she’s a radical war hawk. Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face. The meaning was not only plain but common. His point -- and it is a point heard well beyond the Cheneys over the decades, and often at Dick "Five Deferments" Cheney when he was vice president -- is that war hawk Liz Cheney sits comfortably in Washington or Wyoming while wanting to send American kids off to combat, condemning them to death or disfigurement at the hands of a violent enemy. Yet never going herself. The point is one of the oldest in American politics when potential or actual war is on the horizon.  In the 1960’s anti-Vietnam war protestors targeted then-President Lyndon Johnson for the same criticism - that from the comfort of the White House or his Texas ranch LBJ was sending American kids off to die horrific deaths in Vietnam. Their chant: “Hey hey, LBJ! How many kids did you kill today?” But after Trump made his point, a point captured entirely on videotape, the media was swamped with these kind of headlines: From the Drudge Report, as reported by Fox:  Drudge Report’s front-page headline on Friday morning declared in red font with all caps, "TRUMP CALLS FOR CHENEY’S EXECUTION,” Also reported by Fox:  CNN’s website featured a front-page headline, "Trump rages that ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should be fired upon." CNN's Jim Acosta sparred with a Republican guest on Friday morning about the clip, saying it was beyond the pale for Trump to call for Cheney to be effectively fired upon.”   …Politico White House bureau chief Jonathan Lemire, who is also an MSNBC host, accused Trump of using "violent war imagery" to criticize Cheney.  "Dangerous rhetoric there," Lemire said Friday morning on MSNBC after airing a partial clip of the soundbite.” “Four days out from Election Day and former President Trump is escalating his violent rhetoric, suggesting one of his most prominent critics, the former congresswoman Liz Cheney, should be fired upon," (anchor Kasie) Hunt told CNN viewers.  “The New York Times featured a story headlined, "Trump attacks Liz Cheney using violent war imagery," and The Washington Post went with "Trump suggests ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should have guns ‘trained on her face.’ Then there was this from Reuters:  “Reuters wrote that "Trump suggested Liz Cheney should face firing squad for her foreign policy stance.” In other words? There was not a word of truth to the idea that Trump had advocated that “Liz Cheney should face a firing squad.” Liz Cheney herself accepted the lie and replied "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death." It would be one thing if all of this were an accidental one-off from a mainstream liberal media that mysteriously heard the entire tape of what Trump said and somehow didn’t hear him accurately. But alas, mainstream liberal media bias -- and not just toward Trump but on more topics than one can count -- is as common as rain in a hurricane. Which is exactly what the Washington Post’s new owner Jeff Bezos was getting at when he wrote this:  Most people believe the media is biased. Anyone who doesn’t see this is paying scant attention to reality, and those who fight reality lose. Meanwhile, across the country, the Los Angeles Times is facing a staff rebellion because it too refused to endorse a presidential candidate. CNN headlined:  Two more Los Angeles Times editorial board members resign amid turmoil over blocked Harris endorsement And as mentioned earlier in this space, CBS and the New York Times have been facing staff rebellions for daring to disagree with liberal dogma in running the network or the Times.  All of which is to say, the mainstream liberal media is a mess. As Bezos indicates, readers  and viewers don’t trust the news that is being reported by these various outlets. So as a result, as Bezos says, “In the annual public surveys about trust and reputation, journalists and the media have regularly fallen near the very bottom, often just above Congress.” This is not a small deal. Among other things this mess has the potential, helped by the 21st century technology of podcasts and websites, to drain traditional media of their readers and viewers - never to return. In fairness, Mr. Bezos, in his new role as owner of the venerable Washington Post, appears to recognize the problem.  The question is: What can he -- or will he -- do about it? Stay tuned.

Muslim group's poll spells disastrous news for Kamala Harris

A finding from a poll conducted by a Muslim civil rights group may explain why Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is losing in some states with large Muslim populations. The Center for American Islamic Relations said its poll found that Green Party candidate Jill Stein has more support among Muslims than Harris does. Stein garnered the support of 42.3% of respondents in the poll while Harris got the support of only 41%. 'These findings are definitely concerning for Harris, given how close the race is in this state.' Former President Donald Trump got support from only 9.8% of the Muslim voters in the CAIR poll. Pollster Carly Cooperman told the New York Post that the results could prove disastrous for the Harris campaign. “These findings are definitely concerning for Harris, given how close the race is in this state," Cooperman said. "If Harris is able to have an advantage in this state similar to Biden’s margin in 2020 (150k votes), she can still hold on, but if she underperforms with black voters, as the polling suggests, losing these voters could be decisive." A Muslim faction of the Democratic Party has threatened to withhold its support for Democrats over the support that the Biden administration has given to Israel's military operation against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Trump has taken advantage of the internecine fighting by courting the Muslim vote. On Friday, he became the first major presidential candidate to visit Dearborn, Michigan, a majority-Muslim city. While the city's Muslim mayor rejected an invite to meet with Trump, a popular restaurant owner gave Trump a peace award for his statement calling for peace in Lebanon."To the Dems - your unwillingness to stop funding & enabling a genocide created the space for Trump to infiltrate our communities. Remember that," wrote Mayor Abdullah Hammoud about the Trump visit. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
