Complaints about the $279.99 e-reader’s display have spread online and dragged down its Amazon star rating, and some report customer service reps say a fix is on the way. A Reddit user posted a thread with images (see below), saying it’s most obvious when the Kindle “is supposed to be evenly lit and colored like a piece of paper.” Many others with the same issue say they’ve exchanged their Colorsoft for a new one or simply returned it. A monumental basalt statue, dating back to the Urartian period (861 BC – c. 590 BC), has been unearthed from the Tusba district of Van, Türkiye. This massive statue, approximately weighing a ton, was discovered during rescue excavations at Garibin Tepe, and marks the first find of its kind in the area. Measuring approximately 2 meters (6.56 ft) in length and 1 meter (3.28 ft) in width, the statue displays impeccable craftsmanship, though it appears to have sustained some damage, with indications of a broken neck. Kissing has been a popular practice in human society for an eternity. But its evolutionary roots are somewhat of a mystery, given the fact that it is a pleasant activity that would seem to offer no survival-related advantages—at least none that are obvious. But in an article recently published in the journal Evolutionary Anthropology, University of Warwick primatologist and evolutionary psychologist Adriano Lameira introduces an intriguing theory that links kissing to ancient primate behavior, creating a scenario where evolution could have gradually brought the practice into being.
