Clever Kitchen Hack Makes Cooking Bell Peppers A Breeze!

If you love cooking with bell peppers but hate chopping them, this ingenious hack is about to make your life so much easier! Commune Kitchen shared a clip from one of their culinary classes in Singapore on social media. In the video, Chef Payal Thakurani explained the “easiest way to deseed a pepper” before cutting it up. Her method is so quick and easy, we can’t wait to try it at home! Payal’s hack for cutting bell peppers began not with a knife, but with her hands. First, she put the produce down on the cutting board and dug her thumbs into its center. In less than a second, the pepper stem was dislodged. Next, the chef ripped the ingredient in two, causing the stem and all the seeds to tumble out. Now the pepper was ready to be chopped! @communekitchensg Easiest way to deseed a bell pepper! #KitchenHacks #CookingMadeEasy #CommuneKitchen #CommuneKitchenSG #cookingclasssg ♬ original sound – Commune Kitchen cooking school – Commune Kitchen cooking school This foolproof food-prepping hack for bell peppers has received over two million views. Some people thought that this method was brilliant, while others had their doubts. “I’m not sending this to anyone so I can do this in front of my friends so they can be impressed,” wrote one user. Another joked, “Tried this with a pumpkin and it didn’t work.” Martin Yan also has a bell pepper hack. It’s a lot more complicated! One person on social media suggested that celebrity Chef Martin Yan had a better way of preparing bell peppers. You can watch his trick below. Although it’s definitely impressive, it also looks pretty difficult for someone who isn’t a professional. If we were cooking bell peppers at home on a weeknight, we’d probably go with Payal’s hack! Incidentally, Commune Kitchen explained in the comments section of their video that the technique they presented was specifically for amateurs. “This is a quick hack for home cooks,” they explained. “We don’t do it this way in restaurants.” Would you try this hack for prepping bell peppers in your kitchen? CNN's Preston Argues Biden Should Double Down on 'Garbage' Smear

On Wednesday's CNN This Morning, during a discussion of President Joe Biden's comments that seemed to call Donald Trump's supporters "garbage," CNN senior political analyst Mark Preston argued that the President would be better off to double down on his remarks instead of trying to take them back. Preston -- who is also credited on CNN.com as CNN's Vice President of Political and Special Events Programming -- argued that Democrats would have been better off if Biden had declared, "Yeah, I do mean all those racist supporters of Donald Trump -- yeah, I do think that they're terrible," rather than look weak by backtracking. After recalling that President Biden's advisors had tried to clean up the remarks by claiming that Biden just meant that the comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, who recently called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" at a Trump event, was the only "supporter" of Trump's the President was calling "garbage," host Kasie Hunt went to her panel for reaction. Axios's Alex Thompson awkwardly argued that no one who has not spoken with Biden actually knows what the President really meant: Yeah, well, no one here at this table knows what Joe Biden meant unless someone here has talked to Joe Biden when he made those -- when he made those comments, and the sad reality is that they were indecipherable because this President is no longer able to coherently and consistently articulate a message. And that's just the sad reality. When Preston got to speak, he thought Biden would have been better off not to try to water down his meaning: You know, I'm of the mindset that if you say, "You might as well just embrace it," and I do think that that's a problem for Democrats ... You know, shocking that I would say that, but, you know, realistically, I do think if he said, "Listen, yeah, I do mean all those racist supporters of Donald Trump -- yeah, I do think that they're terrible," I do think that people would look at the Democratic party a little bit different. I think -- look, I do think that the Democratic party in general doesn't look like they are strong enough and they will always back off of things. And I think that when Joe Biden backs off of saying what he really believes, I don't think that's a good look. Democrats "always back off"? That's the CNN view. Transcript follows: CNN This Morning October 30, 2024 6:04 a.m. Eastern KASIE HUNT: And the reality is, of course, Biden's team trying very hard to clean this up. I think they recognize the damage that has been done. What's been the reaction from Harris's team? ALEX THOMPSON, AXIOS: Yeah, well, no one here at this table knows what Joe Biden meant unless someone here has talked to Joe Biden when he made those -- when he made those comments, and the sad reality is that they were indecipherable because this President is no longer able to coherently and consistently articulate a message. And that's just the sad reality. That is why he's no longer the nominee because, at the debate, we all saw very clearly. And it's also why Kamala Harris does not want him on the trail. This is a guy who just last week referred to former Representative Gabby Giffords in the past tense even though she's very much alive -- is a person that last week said that he wanted to throw Donald Trump in jail and then very quickly tried to backtrack and say he just politically meant to lock him up. And we are in a sad scenario where clearly Joe Biden and the aides around him that want to make him feel better want him to be able to sort of be inserted into this race that see Kamala Harris's election -- potential election as an affirmation of his record, but that Kamala Harris does not want him to be inserted and would prefer that he basically be absent this last week of this election. MARK PRESTON, CNN SENIOR POLITICAL ANALYST: You know, I'm of the mindset that if you say, "You might as well just embrace it," and I do think that that's a problem for Democrats -- HUNT (laughing): We're going to ask our strategists over here in just a second. PRESTON: You know, shocking that I would say that, but, you know, realistically, I do think if he said, "Listen, yeah, I do mean all those racist supporters of Donald Trump -- yeah, I do think that they're terrible," I do think that people would look at the Democratic party a little bit different. I think -- look, I do think that the Democratic party in general doesn't look like they are strong enough and they will always back off of things. And I think that when Joe Biden backs off of saying what he really believes, I don't think that's a good look.

Column: Crazy Talk About the Media Favoring Trump Over Harris

The Left has a tendency to grade the media’s performance based on results. It doesn’t matter if you favor the Democrats aggressively if they don’t win…or if the polls seem tied. Recently, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson was celebrated on Morning Joe for writing a column which complained the media was rougher on Kamala Harris than Donald Trump. “Somehow, it is apparently baked into this campaign that Trump is allowed to talk and act like a complete lunatic while Harris has to be perfect in every way.” This argument – later to be picked up by Michelle Obama and others – is nowhere close to reality. The legacy media have overwhelmingly favored Harris. On the evening news on ABC, CBS, and NBC, the Media Research Center finds her coverage is 78 percent positive and Trump’s is 85 percent negative. Let’s guess that this complaint about how Harris “has to be perfect” reflects the way that liberal journalists and their Democrat allies talk about Harris among themselves. They cannot believe Trump is doing this well, so they have to blame her for not being a perfect political talent. In their own minds, Trump lives as a cartoon monster, a “complete lunatic.” That is reflected in every story and segment that they do. Just as in 2016, they believe their candidate should be ahead by 15 or 20 points. They hoped for a female Obama, and it’s looking like they have a biracial Hillary. One of the blind spots on the Left is always presuming that everything they favor is popular – or with enough repetitively positive “reporting," will eventually become so. So they imagine that everyone will come around on putting boys in girls’ sports, or everyone will see the wisdom in flying planeloads of illegal immigrants into small towns. Oppose them, and you’re not just wrong. You’re a “complete lunatic,” you’re racist, xenophobic, homophobic – you have all the phobias. What really upsets the Morning Joe crew is that Americans are getting their news from other sources and not accepting all of their “wisdom.” If people are unsure of Kamala Harris, a lot of that is based on the radical left-wing stands she has taken. The media don’t talk about her sponsoring the “Green New Deal,” or her stand in favor of “reimagining” taking money away from the police, or her backing a bail fund for violent criminals in Minneapolis after the George Floyd riots. Even if you run around touting how she’s backed away from all or most of these – her bail-fund tweet is still posted -- then you’re staring at a picture of an inauthentic candidate just picking her policy prescriptions to win within a Democrat primary. She’s plastic, a DEI Barbie. People can be unsure of Kamala Harris based on her political career – where the media have no curiosity about questions like this: If Kamala grew up “middle class” with a single mother, where was the father? Was there no child support? The legacy media (especially on television) has displayed zero curiosity on these matters. What happened when she dated Willie Brown as the start of her political career? Zero curiosity. Most of all, they can’t acknowledge that Harris didn’t run in the 2024 primaries, and so she is an untested candidate. She might seem more “perfect” if she wasn’t installed at the last minute. She needs to be “reintroduced to the country,” they say. But their reintroduction feels like all celebration and no substance. This presidential campaign coverage has been so bad that you can’t tell the difference between the “news” and the mudslinging 30-second campaign commercials.
