Billy Corgan thinks he is underrated as a guitarist

Formed in 1988 in Chicago, Illinois, The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most influential and successful bands to achieve fame in the ’90s. Led by guitarist and singer Billy Corgan, the group had multiple hits and became an inspiration for countless bands that would emerge later on. Like most bands from the ’90s, they are known more for their albums and songs than for their individual members. In an interview with Guitar World, Corgan complained about not often appearing on “best guitar players” lists, saying he is better than many who do. What Billy Corgan said about being underrated as a guitar player "Most people don't even recognize my contributions as a guitar player. They don't even assume I’m the one playing a lot of the guitar. You have these silly lists that come out about the greatest guitar players; I usually don't even make those lists. Or they'll put me behind somebody who I could play circles around. I don’t mean to denigrate the person in front of me or the people in front of me, but come on, you know? I'm enough of a guitar player to know who's a great guitar player." "Once you go beyond, let's call it 'The Zakk Wyldes and Dimebag Darrells and the truly great Randy Rhoadses,' there's a lot of people who pretend to play guitar. I certainly have no problem believing I'm better than a lot of them. "If I'm being frank about it – and maybe this isn't the best way to do it – but if I'm being frank, people have a hard time understanding that as it pertains to the Smashing Pumpkins, I'm writing the songs, lyrics, melodies, arrangements and playing most of the complicated guitar. And that I'm capable of doing a solo on top of that. I think that's hard for people to process," Billy Corgan said. The Smashing Pumpkins sold an estimated amount of more than 30 million records worldwide. Their two most famous albums are "Siamese Dream" (1993) and "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" (1995). Primus drummer quits the band because he lost the passion for playing

Formed in El Sobrante, California back in 1984, Primus became one of the most proeminent bands from the 90s especially after the release of their albums "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" (1991) and "Pork Soda" (1993). The band led by the bassist and singer Les Claypool was active until 2000 and then returned in 2003. Since 1989, the drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander had been a member of the band frequently, leaving in 1996, returning from 2003 to 2010 and then from 2013 until now. The band announced they were shocked that the drummer sent them an email informing he no longer wanted to be part of the band. According to them, the musician said he lost his passion for playing. Primus drummer quits the band because he lost the passion for playing "On Thursday, October 17th, we received an email from Tim 'Herb' Alexander expressing that effective immediately he would no longer be involved with Primus. It came as a complete shock to all of us here in the Primus camp." "On the heels of a wonderful Spring & Summer of touring and some fabulous plans ahead, it has been a bit bewildering for us that Herb would so abruptly opt out. After several attempts to communicate with Herb, his only response was another email stating that he has 'lost his passion for playing,'. As disappointing as that is, we respect his choice and it’s forced us to make some tough decisions." "We considered cancelling the annual New Year’s show, but after much talk Les and Ler have decided to pivot to an augmented version of Primus featuring members of Holy Mackerel and Frog Brigade. This will be an exciting special, one-time event." "As far as future Primus, the band is looking forward to performing in the Dominican Republic with Tool and others. Danny Carey has once again graciously offered to fill the drum throne. For Sessanta, Primus plans on searching for the 'greatest drummer on earth'. Details to follow... Thank you for all your support and understanding," Primus said. The album Brian Wilson said is the coolest one he heard in his life

Born in Inglewood, California back in 1961, Brian Wison was a fundamental part of the Beach Boys, alongside his brothers Carl and Dennis Wilson. Often called by his peers as a musical genius, Wilson was the mastermind behind most of the band's hits and especially their groundbreaking album "Pet Sounds" (1966). Over the decades he talked about many of his peers and bands he liked. The musician once said which was the coolest album he heard in his life. The album Brian Wilson said is the coolest one he heard in his life It's not a secret that Brian Wilson is a big fan of The Beatles and was inspired by them. In an interview available on Youtube (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage), he was asked if he recalled the first time he heard their album "Rubber Soul" (1965). The musician answered and said he felt like it was the coolest album he heard in his life. "I remember, (it was) sometime in 1965. Late 1965 and I was smoking pot, I tripped out and said 'That's the coolest album I ever heard in my life'. It blew me out so much". Curiously, that album was a direct inspiration for Wilson to the making of "Pet Sounds" released one year later. Then The Beach Boys album influenced The Beatles to make "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (1967). In a post on his social networks in 2023, the musician explained more why the album influenced him a lot. He even mentioned a few songs that blew him away. “I remember being blown away by ‘You Won’t See Me” and ‘I’m Looking Through You’ and ‘Girl.’ It wasn’t just the lyrics and the melodies but the production and their harmonies. They had such unique harmonies, you know?” Brian Wilson continued: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsjTO0yZQjk&pp=ygUYSW4g4oCYWW91IFdvbuKAmXQgU2VlIE1l[/embed] “In ‘You Won’t See Me,’ Paul sings low and George and John sing high. There’s an organ drone in there, a note that’s held down for the last third of the song or so. Those were touches they were trying – almost art music. What was so great about the Beatles was you could hear their ideas so clearly in their music,” Brian Wilson said. Released in 1965, "Rubber Soul" was The Beatles sixth album. It had famous tracks like “Drive My Car”, “Nowhere Man”, “I’m Looking Through You”, “In My Life” and “If I Needed Someone”. Although over the years the media said The Beach Boys and The Beatles had a rivalry, they were actually great friends. Obviously, whenever one of the bands released something really good, there would always be the desire to top that. As Wilson told Smashing Interviews magazine in 2022, he said that there was a "mutual admiration" between them, not a competition. "Pet Sounds" is one of Paul McCartney's favorite albums Paul McCartney is a huge fan of Brian Wilson and especially of the Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds". He even said that he believes no one is educated musically until they hear that record. That's why he gave one copy of that album to each one of his kids when they were growing up. He is a good friend of Wilson and they had the chance to perform together once. The sang the classic "God Only Knows", which is Paul's favorite Beach Boys track. Actually, he already said it might be his favorite song of all time. Trump’s Puerto Rico fallout is ‘spreading like wildfire’ in Pennsylvania

In response to questions on the comments, and whether Trump was planning to publicly denounce them, Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement, “Due to President Trump’s plans to cut taxes, end inflation, and stop the surge of illegal immigrants at the southern border, he has more support from the Hispanic American community than any Republican in recent history.” Local Democrats like Dominguez argue the fallout at the very least reminds Puerto Rican voters of Trump’s...

Maryland Democrats Denounce Ad For Larry Hogan Implying County Is 'Corrupt'

“The latest Larry Hogan ad is yet another example of Larry Hogan adopting Donald Trump’s politics of character assassination,” said Reps. Steny Hoyer and Glenn Ivey, the two Democrats who represent Maryland’s Prince George’s County in the U.S. House, in a statement to HuffPost. “It’s a scurrilous attempt to smear Prince George’s County and the people who live here. Just this weekend, we heard deeply offensive rhetoric about Puerto Rico during Donald Trump’s rally.” The new ad from the Maryland’...
