EXCLUSIVE: Rubio Demands Transparency as NIH Seems to Hide Effects of ‘Gender-Affirming Care’

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) could be concealing the effect puberty blockers, often used in transgender “gender-affirming” care, on minors, a Monday letter from Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., obtained by The Daily Signal suggests. In the letter to NIH Director Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, Rubio draws particular attention to a NIH-funded study from Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy. Despite President Barack Obama’s administration’s decisions to support Olson-Kennedy’s study more than nine years ago, the findings have yet to be released allegedly out of fear from potential political repercussions. Rubio claims that Olson-Kennedy was part of a group of researchers who received nearly $6 million from the NIH to study the physical and mental health outcomes of children who receive hormone blocker and cross-sex hormone treatments. Olson-Kennedy outlined a little bit of her findings in a 2020 report that said approximately a quarter of the children in the study who received these treatments were experiencing depression or suicidal ideation. “According to [Olson-Kennedy], she fears the findings will be used to show that puberty blockers do not improve the mental health of youth,” Rubio writes. “The American people, who funded this study, and their elected representatives.” If the findings are being suppressed, Rubio claims that Olson-Kennedy is “masquerad[ing] political ideology under a veil of scientific legitimacy.” In response to this potential coverup, Rubio demands that the NIH investigates Olson-Kennedy and other researchers in this group to discover if they are willfully withholding information on the damaging effects of puberty blockers, and how left-wing political biases might impact the quality of published NIH research. No Fun Allowed: ‘Veep’ Creator Goes Whining to CBS About Kamala Comparisons

The left has made it clear that, in this election, no parodying of themselves are allowed given what they perceive as an existential threat to American lives and the country itself if former President Trump were reelected. Such was the case on Friday’s CBS Mornings Plus with Armando Innucci, the creator HBO’s Veep, complaining about comparisons between his fictional vice president-turned-president Selina Meyer and Vice President Kamala Harris. Co-host Adriana Diaz pointed out the obvious the “[f]rom the moment that Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee, fans of the hit HBO show Veep drew comparisons between its lead character Selina Meyer and Kamala Harris, but one person who isn’t laughing at that comparison is the show’s creator, Armando Iannucci.” The creator of 'Veep' is big mad and went whining to CBS that people think Kamala Harris reminds them of the character he created, Selina Meyer: "I know the Trump campaign would like to say that Kamala is Selena, but it's not. Every episode of 'Veep' shows Selena caught in a… pic.twitter.com/NeMhtLowNj — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) October 25, 2024 “In fact, he’s warned that this election is being dominated by contrary conspiracy theories, manipulated foliage — footage, cheap jokes and lies at the cost of real issues,” she added. Foreign correspondent Holly Williams gave a brief outline of his resume as an Oxford-educated filmmaker behind not only Veep, but other films such as the Death of Stalin: Nobody knows more about getting laughs out of politics than Armando Iannucci, an Oxford educated political satirist, famous on this side of the pond for skewering the British establishment...He’s even found comedy in the worst abuses of the Soviet Union...in the film The Death of Stalin. But in the U.S., Iannucci is best known for creating Selina Meyer, the ethically challenged vice president in Veep. Without any evidence, Iannucci huffed to Williams that while he’s aware “the Trump campaign would like to say that Kamala is Selina, but she’s not” and, when she asked why, he claimed “every episode of Veep shows Selina caught in a trap, usually of her own making.” In other words, not an answer. As our friends at the Free Beacon have shown in compilations, Harris has created quite the highlight reel. Iannucci continued to spin: “We wanted to show what Washington does to someone who goes into politics for the best of reasons, goes into public service, and then gets crushed or transformed by it in a dangerous way.” Williams referenced a New York Times guest column he wrote making the same case: Iannucci sounded downright angry at the comparison in a deadly serious New York Times opinion piece complaining that the issues are being ignored in a U.S. election that’s rolled in conspiracy theory and baked under manipulated footage. She made sure to toss him a softball: “You’re saying the kind of post truth era has developed after Veep?” “It — it’s — it’s politics by social media, where it’s harder and harder to know what is actually a fact,” he replied. Iannucci later closed with more hyperventilating about 2024: “The world still looks to America for how it conducts its democracy and its advocacy of freedom. So, you know, if central figures in that fight are just making things up, then that gives a green light to a lot of would be dictators around the world.” Back live with Diaz and co-host Tony Dokoupil, Williams gave her high-altitude opinion of how the world (particularly Europe) is viewing the presidential race (click “expand”):: CBS's Holly Williams laments the United Kingdom is scared of a Trump presidency since 64% of British voters view Harris positive if they could, but only 18% for Trump and that countries around the world "are puzzled by the system" and "complexity" of our electoral system pic.twitter.com/B86e9okXMN — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) October 25, 2024 WILLIAMS: Yeah. It’s a — it’s a big deal. I mean, look, I travel all over the world for my job, right. So I’m having these conversations with people in different countries. It’s really interesting what you hear. And I’ve spoken to people in the Middle East who’ve said to me, you know, we like Trump because this is -- he just saying things that we thought Americans thought about us all the time. And at least, you know, he just kind of openly says it. On the other hand, in the U.K., the United Kingdom where I live, there was a recent poll that showed that Harris has 64 percent amongst British voters, 57 percent support amongst Conservative British voters and only 18 percent of British voters have a positive view of Trump. So Harris would win easily — DIAZ: Yeah. WILLIAMS: — in the U.K. But I think it’s also, you know, people are puzzled by the — the system as well, just the complexity of it. DIAZ: It’s so complex. WILLIAMS: The Electoral College and the conventions and the, you know, all of that stuff confuses even people in other democracy. To see the relevant CBS transcript from October 25, click “expand.” CBS Mornings Plus October 25, 2024 9:50 a.m. Eastern [ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: All Joking Aside] ADRIANA DIAZ: From the moment that Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee, fans of the hit HBO show Veep drew comparisons between its lead character Selina Meyer and Kamala Harris. But one person who isn’t laughing at that comparison is the show’s creator, Armando Iannucci. In fact, he’s warned that this election is being dominated by contrary conspiracy theories, manipulated foliage — footage, cheap jokes and lies at the cost of real issues. Our Holly Williams spoke to the Emmy and Pulitzer winning writer, director and political critic. ARMANDO IANNUCCI: So the thing about being vice president is, you know, when you go into a room, people treat you with respect. But when you leave, people are making jokes about you. It’s — it’s — there’s something fundamentally comic about this so near and yet so far. HOLLY WILLIAMS: Nobody knows more about getting laughs out of politics than Armando Iannucci, an Oxford educated political satirist, famous on this side of the pond for skewering the British establishment. [SCENE FROM DEATH OF STALIN] WILLIAMS: He’s even found comedy in the worst abuses of the Soviet Union. [SCENE FROM DEATH OF STALIN] WILLIAMS: In the film The Death of Stalin. But in the U.S., Iannucci is best known for creating Selina Meyer, the ethically challenged vice president in Veep. MAN: They’re calling you the no BS VP. SELINA MEYER [in HBO’s Veep]: Damn right they are. I mean, I lied and everything, but it sounded true at least. MAN: Uh-huh. WILLIAMS: The show won 17 Emmys, a Peabody Award, and a cult following. And just like Kamala Harris, Selina Meyer eventually gets a shot at the top job. MEYER [in HBO’s Veep]: POTUS is leaving. He’s not going to run for a second term. I’m going to run. IANNUCCI: I know the Trump campaign would like to say that Kamala is Selina, but she’s not. WILLIAMS: Why would the Trump campaign like to say that? IANNUCCI: Because every episode of Veep shows Selina caught in a trap, usually of her own making. We wanted to show what Washington does to someone who goes into politics for the best of reasons, goes into public service, and then gets crushed or transformed by it in a dangerous way. WILLIAMS: In fact, Iannucci sounded downright angry at the comparison in a deadly serious New York Times opinion piece complaining that the issues are being ignored in a U.S. election that’s rolled in conspiracy theory and baked under manipulated footage. WILLIAMS: You’re saying the kind of post truth era has developed — IANNUCCI: It’s this — WILLIAMS: — after — IANNUCCI: Yes. WILLIAMS: — Veep? IANNUCCI: It — it’s — it’s politics by social media, where it’s harder and harder to know what is actually a fact. WILLIAMS: Born to an Italian immigrant family, Iannucci recently became a commander of the British Empire, an award for his work in broadcasting. He told us he has great affection for America, though not for some of its politicians. IANNUCCI: It — it — it always worries me when a — when a politician can’t laugh. WILLIAMS: Yeah. Are you thinking about anyone in particular there in U.S. politics? IANNUCCI: Well, you know, well, Trump was in office, he was — he — he kind of judiciously watched Saturday Night Live and then did a critique on Twitter straight after it. WILLIAMS: He didn’t get the joke. IANNUCCI: He didn’t get that? No. Well, he said it was a bad joke. You know, if a politician can laugh at themselves, then I think that’s a good sign. WILLIAMS: In Veep, Selina Meyer’s run for president ends in chaos. MEYER [on HBO’s Veep]: No, I’ll tell you what’s unprecedented, Kent, a tie is unprecedented. WILLIAMS: But with this year’s real life election too close to call, Iannucci says there’s nothing to laugh about. IANNUCCI: The world still looks to America for how it conducts its democracy and its advocacy of freedom. So, you know, if central figures in that fight are just making things up, then that gives a green light to a lot of would be dictators around the world. DOKOUPIL: Got very real. Holly Williams joins us now. Holly, it’s so glad to have you here. You know, we have this election coming up in a matter of days. He clearly thinks it’s a very big deal. You cover the world. You’ve been all over the world as a correspondent. What -- what -- how does the world viewing our election? WILLIAMS: Yeah. It’s a — it’s a big deal. I mean, look, I travel all over the world for my job, right. So I’m having these conversations with people in different countries. It’s really interesting what you hear. Holly Williams, thank you so much for being here. DOKOUPIL: Yeah. It’s so great to see you. WILLIAMS: Thank you for having me. DOKOUPIL: Really appreciate it. We’re confused sometimes too.

CBS Anchor Pushes Kamala's Themes: 'Freedom' to Abort and January 6

After CBS anchor Norah O'Donnell favored Democrat Tim Walz in the vice presidential debate and has aggressively pushed her anti-Trump themes on the CBS Evening News last week (including the Trump-smearing Atlantic article), she was granted an interview with Kamala Harris, which aired on Sunday Morning.  O'Donnell touted the Harris rally in Houston featuring pop star Beyonce, but omitted the negative stuff -- people booing when Beyonce didn't sing and pro-Palestinian hecklers. She said they had a "rare behind-the-scences look on Air Force Two and the battleground state of Michigan, and omitted the pro-Palestinian hecklers there, too. There were no Israel questions aired in this segment.  “Beyonce’s song Freedom has become Kamala Harris’ anthem. And that was the message in Houston Friday night” – @NorahODonnell on @CBSSunday. “It was the VP’s largest rally ever. 30,000 people braved 90 degree heat to hear her scorching new attack on Texas’s strict abortion rules.” pic.twitter.com/qORrpIMLXr — Brent Baker ?? ?? (@BrentHBaker) October 27, 2024 After airing footage of Michelle Obama lecturing men that if they don't "get this election right," that "women will become collateral damage to your rage," O'Donnell did sound more like an objective journalist, pressing Harris on which restrictions on abortion she would favor. Harris dodged, saying several times she just supports Roe v. Wade. O'Donnell pointed out in its language, Roe allows restrictions (in the third trimester). Harris kept dodging instead of admitting she doesn't want any abortion restrictions.  She blustered: "We have seen extraordinary harm and pain and suffering happen, because of what Donald Trump did in intending, and effectuating and overturning of Roe v. Wade." Then CBS touted Kamala's planned speech in DC on Tuesday in a spot where Donald Trump spoke to supporters on January 6 before the riot:  CBS’s @NorahODonnell’s cued up Kamala Harris: “One week before election day you will be in Washington, not in a battleground state, to give a major speech at the same place that Donald Trump did on January 6th. Why?” @CBSSunday pic.twitter.com/Z0pPeWK1iI — Brent Baker ?? ?? (@BrentHBaker) October 27, 2024 Then O'Donnell presented the "closing argument," and tried to fact-check that Trump disavowed Project 2025:  KAMALA HARRIS: His first priority is going to be people like him, not people like the people who are watching this right now, people who work hard, seniors, for example, who are depending on that Social Security check as the only source of their income, when Donald Trump is saying we should raise the age of Social Security to 70 before you`re eligible. NORAH O`DONNELL: He says he's going to cut taxes on their benefits. HARRIS: He has been consistent. Again, Google Project 2025 about what he thinks about Social Security, and why he thinks it is nothing that should be supported. What he has -- his intentions to cut Medicare and Medicare benefits. His intention -- look, again, at Project 2025 -- to repeal the $35 a month cap on insulin that we have put in place. O`DONNELL: You know that Donald Trump has disavowed Project 2025. He says that is not his campaign plan. HARRIS: As you know, I am a former prosecutor. His DNA is all over it. All over it. His running mate wrote the foreword to the book of the author of Project 2025. I believe Donald Trump`s name appears at least 300 times in Project 2025. And it is a blueprint -- a detailed blueprint, that is about the danger and the detail of what Donald Trump and his allies plan if he is in the White House again.

'It's an important time': 49er Nick Bosa crashes postgame interview with MAGA hat

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa showed his support for Donald Trump after a victory by crashing his teammates' postgame interview with a "Make America Great Again" hat.Following a 30-24 win over the Dallas Cowboys on NBC's "Sunday Night Football," three of Bosa's teammates were participating in an interview with NBC's Melissa Stark. As Stark was asking star quarterback Brock Purdy about "what was said" in the locker room during halftime, Bosa approached the two from behind wearing a white hat with the MAGA message written in gold letters."Hey," Stark said to Bosa, ready to hear him out. With no words, Bosa simply pointed to his hat and ran off-screen."All right! Nick Bosa with a message there!" Stark said awkwardly as tight end George Kittle could be heard laughing.Rumors circulated online that NBC had censored the interaction in subsequent social media posts; however, an official post by the network the morning after the game appeared unedited and included the interaction.'I think it's an important time.'At a postgame press conference, Bosa was asked about his show of support for the Republican candidate."It appeared to be a political statement," a reporter said to the 27-year-old.Keeping his comments short, Bosa said, "I'm not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it's an important time."With Trump holding a massive, star-studded rally at Madison Square Garden the same weekend, Bosa wasn't the only football player to put his politics in the spotlight on the field. In college football, Texas Tech placekicker Reese Burkhardt also used clothing to get his message across.Down by 11 points to TCU, Burkhardt ran a fake field goal for a five-yard touchdown.During his celebration, the kicker pulled up his jersey to reveal a white shirt with "Trump '24 MAGA" written on it, showing it off to the crowd of fans from two Texas universities.Unfortunately for the kicker, TCU pulled off a 17-point comeback to edge out Texas Tech 35-34. Reese Burkhardt of Texas Tech scores on a fake field goal against TCU.Photo by Richard Rodriguez/Getty ImagesAs for Bosa, he has been a vocal Trump supporter and was seen interacting with the former president at UFC 299 earlier this year. Bosa and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow were shown shaking hands and embracing the politician before the main event in Miami.Like Blaze News? ‘Days that truth is hidden are numbered’: Reason why Bill Gates gave a SECRET donation to Kamala REVEALED

While it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that Bill Gates is on the Democrat team, what is shocking is just how much he’s donated to the party’s powerful machine. In a recent report from the New York Times, it was revealed that Gates is using a nonprofit organization to donate $50 million to Kamala Harris. “As you know, individuals aren’t allowed to donate that much, so he’s using this little shell nonprofit to give Kamala Harris $50 million,” Liz Wheeler of “The Liz Wheeler Show” comments. However, Wheeler doesn’t believe it’s simply because Gates is a fan of Kamala. “I wonder why? Bill Gates has a lot to hide, doesn’t he? He certainly doesn’t want RFK Jr. to be part of the Trump administration, to expose his collusion with the CDC and the FDA,” Wheeler says. “He certainly doesn’t want Trump to expose the Epstein list, which Trump has promised to do, and he definitely doesn’t want Trump to be as based as Trump has been about fighting against — or actually JD Vance has been the real based one fighting against the bogus climate agenda,” she continues. “And so, Bill Gates is giving $50 million to Kamala Harris because he is a frightened little coward who knows that the days that the truth is hidden are numbered,” she adds.
