An article published this week in the leftist New Republic claims Republicans regularly cheat to win elections. But the article’s examples of alleged “cheating” aren’t evidence at all —and the only real example of cheating the article provides involves a Democrat. On October 21, New Republic editor Michael Tomasky published “Republicans Are Cheating. Again. But Now It’s Worse Than Ever.” Tomasky, a longtime left-wing columnist, claims that “the factual record” shows Republicans “cheat” to win elections, and have done so in “most elections in recent American history.” Tomasky then promises to substantiate this claim with evidence. What follows is a series of absurd examples. He begins by pointing to a text message allegedly sent to young voters in Wisconsin, warning them that it’s illegal to vote in a state where you’re not eligible to vote. CNN first reported that story, and it is unknown how many people actually got the text message. A left-wing voting group is demanding an investigation, and the New Republic deems this cheating by the GOP, even though the text is clearly trying to prevent cheating. The New Republic and CNN insist the text is meant to scare young voters into not voting, a grim assessment of the intelligence of young voters. Tomasky then starts playing the hits, repeating the frequently-debunked claim that Russia is trying to skew the election in favor of former President Donald Trump. Earlier claims about Russian disinformation have been proven false, including the 2016 Russia collusion hoax and the claim that the Hunter Biden laptop was a Russian disinformation operation. But the article downplays Iran’s efforts to tip the election in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris, even though an Iranian spy ring infiltrated the Biden administration and someone with a high-level security clearance leaked Israel war plan documents to Iran. Nevertheless, The New Republic insists “Iranian meddling is a molehill compared to the vast mountain range of Russian meddling.” The article also knocks Elon Musk for handing out checks to voters who sign a petition, though they admit it doesn’t “appear to be illegal.” Tomasky then gets into the alleged historical examples of Republicans cheating, beginning with the year the author was born: 1960. Of course, that year John F. Kennedy won the presidency, and Tomasky has to admit that “there was probably some Democratic cheating going on in Cook County, but it didn’t matter” because JFK would have won anyway. Just a few lines later, it says that Watergate was still the bad kind of cheating, even though Nixon would have won “in a huge landslide” regardless. Speaking of Nixon, Tomasky notes that his campaign cheated when it signaled to Vietnam it would get a better deal if he beat Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. Johnson called it “treason,” but former President Barack Obama must have thought it was a good idea, since he told then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in 2012 that he would have “more flexibility” after the election. Tomasky doesn’t mention John Kerry speaking to a former Iranian Foreign Minister during the Trump administration to undermine Trump’s Iran policy, so he must not have thought that was “cheating,” either. Tomasky accuses former President Ronald Reagan of cheating in 1980. His evidence? A Democrat-turned-Republican who hoped for a cabinet position allegedly told Iran not to release the hostages until after the election, because Reagan would win and give them a better deal. The examples only get weaker as Tomasky gets closer to the present. George H. W. Bush’s “Willie Horton” ad amounts to cheating, even if it wasn’t “consequential outright cheating.” Bush’s son obviously cheated in 2000, Tomasky says, even though it was former Vice President Al Gore who refused to accept defeat and set the table for the Supreme Court to rule that Bush won the election. And while Tomasky smears Republicans for “the swift-boating of John Kerry” in 2004, he makes no mention of the outrageous smear campaigns mounted against Mitt Romney in 2012, including allegations that he gave a woman cancer and would put black people “back in chains” — the latter of which was, of course, made by then-Vice President Joe Biden. After 2004, Tomasky abandons citations altogether, simply stating as fact that Obama won without cheating, Trump cheated, and Biden didn’t. He conveniently leaves out the changes to mail-in voting made in 2020 and Democrats literally switching out Biden for Harris after Biden’s poll numbers dropped.

Kishia, a McDonald’s manager in Flatbush, told the Times, “You don’t throw salt like that. Somebody could have been behind him, you know?” A cashier at a McDonald’s in Queens objected to the campaign stop in its entirety, claiming that it minimized the work she did every day. “How many days are they gonna drag this out? Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro predicted Kamala Harris’ rise to vice president, then to presidential candidate years before the 2020 election. Shapiro predicted the Democratic Party’s 2020 and 2024 strategies years in advance during a Young America’s Foundation event at the University of Connecticut in January 2018. He said at the time that the “smart” strategy for Democrats heading into the 2020 election would be to nominate Joe Biden, then out of office, and have a leftist Democrat such as Harris run as his vice president. Biden would then serve one term before being replaced at the top of the ticket by his far-Left VP, Shapiro predicted. At the time, Shapiro thought the Democratic Party would cater to its radical wing and nominate a progressive such as Harris, then a senator from California, or Sen. Corey Booker of New Jersey. The smart move would be to nominate a more seemingly moderate candidate such as Biden, according to Shapiro. In 2024, Biden gave up his reelection efforts amid pressure from Democratic lawmakers and donors to step aside. Harris was then promoted to the top of the ticket as she received preferential treatment from the party to take Biden’s place. The controversial switch appears to have upset many within the White House, however, including the president of the United States. Biden appeared to complain to former President Barack Obama recently that “she’s not as strong as me,” in an apparent reference to Harris. Obama seemed to agree and said, “That’s true,” according to the New York Post. 

Former President Donald Trump is expected to sit down for an interview with podcast giant Joe Rogan this week at his studio in Austin, Texas. Trump’s appearance on the podcast, which will be recorded on Friday, comes as he looks to extend his lead with male voters in the upcoming election. This will be the first time Trump has appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Rogan was a major supporter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. when he was running for president. RFK Jr. has since dropped out and endorsed Trump. Both Trump and Rogan have a mutual ally in X owner Elon Musk, who has gone all in on trying to help Trump win the election. The likelihood that Harris would even accept an invitation to go on Rogan’s podcast now may have decreased since her disastrous interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, where she crumbled when asked basic questions. A podcast interview with a host like Rogan would present a unique set of challenges for Harris. Podcast interviews are typically longer than traditional news interviews, thus increasing the likelihood that she will make remarks that go viral and further damage her. Harris’ interview with Baier marked the first time as a candidate that she granted an interview to an organization that is not openly friendly with her. She would likely be asked difficult questions but in a manner that gives her the opportunity to speak open-ended when answering. That lack of structure would likely result in more of her famous word salads in which she effectively talks in circles without really saying anything.

An Alaska Democrat who formerly voted against legislation defending the integrity of women’s sports and spaces has now reversed her position on the topic following a September report on her transgender stances from The Daily Wire. “I don’t think that we should have men competing in women’s sports,” Mary Peltola said during an Alaska Chamber of Commerce debate Monday, as she distanced herself from left-wing activists pushing the topic. “This causes a lot of feelings for people, this is a culture wars issue,” she argued. “I’m not a very good activist, I’m not a champion on one side or another of most of these culture wars, because I feel like they are a complete and total waste of our time. We have real problems, we’ve got inflation, we’ve got every sector of the economy without skilled labor, skilled workforce … the list goes on and on.” “No, I don’t think that we should have men competing in women’s sports, but you know, on the other hand, look at the number of female Olympian athletes who have been questioned about their femininity, they’re questioned, are they even a woman,” she added. “This is just not something that is number one for me.” Peltola did not immediately respond to a request for comment clarifying which Olympian athletes she was referring to, and whether they identify as transgender. Her flip-flop came one day after internal GOP polling showed her opponent, Nick Begich, emerging as the front-runner in the race for the Alaska congressional seat. NRCC spokesman Ben Petersen told The Daily Wire that her reversal indicates a desperate, last-minute pitch to voters. “Democrat Mary Peltola’s shameless flip-flopping reeks of desperation,” he said. “After cashing checks from radical groups and voting to let biological males dominate female athletes, Peltola now reverses herself — proving she’ll say anything to cling to power as polls show her losing.” The Daily Wire reported in September that Peltola’s embrace of transgenderism could be her downfall in the upcoming election, particularly given how Alaska has taken steps to protect women’s spaces. The Alaska Board of Education voted in August 2023 to block boys who identify as girls from playing on girls’ athletic teams, as The Daily Wire previously reported, and the Alaska House of Representatives passed a law in May 2024 banning boys from playing in girls’ sports. The bill then went to the Alaska State Senate, where it is expected to die. But the House Republicans who voted for the bill told Alaska Public Media they were prioritizing the issue at the request of their constituents. When Peltola initially ran for office in 2022, she danced around addressing whether men should be allowed in women’s sports. “I need to better acquaint myself with this issue, which I believe is more complicated than some make it out to be,” Peltola told the Anchorage Daily News in August 2022. “My starting point is that sports should be fair for all students, and we must protect the rights of all students – especially those that are already subject to significant discrimination. I look forward to learning more, and focusing on the many other pressing challenges the U.S. Congress is facing.” A year later, in 2023, she voted against the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023” — legislation prohibiting school athletic programs from allowing boys who identify as girls to play in girls’ sports. The bill, which passed the House of Representatives, would have made it a violation of Title IX for federally-funded education programs to allow men in women’s athletic programs. She also voted against Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace’s amendment to that legislation, which would have required a study on the effect men participating in women’s sports has on women. Peltola went so far as to co-sponsor the far-left “Equality Act,” legislation that would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to prevent “discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation,” meaning that men who identify as women could not be denied access to female locker rooms, prisons, shelters, and more. “Must Read Alaska” reported at the time that the Equality Act would apply to institutions like Anchorage’s “Downtown Hope Center,” a faith-based cold-weather shelter where women can seek refuge from the state’s extreme cold during the night. The Daily Wire previously highlighted that Peltola has received about $6,000 from the far-left Human Rights Campaign, an organization that pushes transgender sex change hormones, surgery, and puberty blockers for children. She has also received $5,500 from Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the action arm of Planned Parenthood, which boasts of being the “second largest provider” of transgender hormones like estrogen and testosterone.
