Spin Cycle: Trump’s Not All Right, Better Investigate Elon Musk

For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed. With just over two weeks to go before the election on November 5, the media talking heads are pulling out all of the stops. Based on what was said across the Sunday morning political talk shows, the two prevailing narratives are simple: there’s something wrong with former President Donald Trump, and entrepreneur Elon Musk is undermining democracy by supporting free speech. On ABC’s “This Week,” the guests were all about Trump — and after running cover for an obviously-declining President Joe Biden, they suddenly seemed overly concerned about the former president’s age and mental state. National Review’s Ramesh Ponnuru claimed that Trump’s speeches had showcased him wandering off topic more often than in the past. “Trump is declining. He is exhibiting less control. He’s always been meandering, but it’s gone to a new level. He’s always had a streak of vulgarity, it’s gone to a new level as well,” he said, arguing that Trump was a “different person” based on a comparison of clips of Trump from the current campaign cycle and from 2016 or even the 1980s. “You see a decline there and it is I think related to age.” “Trump is declining. He is exhibiting less control. He's always been meandering, but it's gone to a new level … You see a decline there and it is I think related to age,” National Review's @RameshPonnuru tells @MarthaRaddatz. https://t.co/6fHsjUTzJ8 pic.twitter.com/qnB9cLUZDE — This Week (@ThisWeekABC) October 20, 2024 The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser offered a similar analysis, saying that a “noticeable decline” was obvious and that Trump was showing a “lack of discipline.” “There was a metric that he speaking twice as long at his rallies as he used to, even in his previous campaigns.” There is a “noticeable decline” in former Pres. Trump’s “ability to communicate” and “lack of discipline," @sbg1 tells @MarthaRaddatz. “There was a metric that he speaking twice as long at his rallies as he used to, even in his previous campaigns.” https://t.co/Rqtn0aeLfY pic.twitter.com/sulxwOwT8S — This Week (@ThisWeekABC) October 20, 2024 CNN anchor Jake Tapper went down the same path on “State of the Union” with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), pressing him repeatedly to weigh in on behavior he characterized as “unstable.” Tapper mentioned a recent Pennsylvania rally during which Trump was supposed to be detailing the campaign’s closing argument and told a story about the late golfer Arnold Palmer instead. “I don’t want to be talking about this. Donald Trump is out there saying it. It is unstable,” Tapper complained. “But you continue to,” Johnson noted. “Because you won’t address it!” Tapper protested. TAPPER: "I don't want to be talking about this. Donald Trump is out there saying it. It is unstable."JOHNSON: "But you continue to."TAPPER: "Because you won't address it!"@jaketapper and @SpeakerJohnson spar over Trump’s bizarre Arnold Palmer tangent at a rally. pic.twitter.com/PaqqNuNPAw — State of the Union (@CNNSOTU) October 20, 2024 On NBC News — and on MSNBC as well — the story was all about Musk, his support for Trump, and his plan to give away $1 million every day through Election Day. Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) spoke with “Meet the Press” anchor Kristen Welker about Musk — and he went so far as to say that Musk should be investigated. Welker set Shapiro up for his response, asking, “You are a former attorney general. Is this legal?” Shapiro responded by suggesting that Musk’s political action committee was a “dark money” entity and argued that it should certainly be scrutinized. “That is deeply concerning,” he said. “Look, Musk has a right to be able to express his views. He’s made it very very clear that he supports Donald Trump. I don’t — obviously we have a difference of opinion. I don’t deny him that right. But when you start flowing this kind of money into politics, I think it raises serious questions that folks may want to take a look at … It’s something that law enforcement could take a look at.” WATCH: Every day until Election Day, Elon Musk says he’ll give $1M to a voter who has signed his super PAC’s petition “in favor of free speech and the right to bear arms.”@JoshShapiroPA: “That is deeply concerning. … It's something that law enforcement could take a look at." pic.twitter.com/2mZY1b5YaL — Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) October 20, 2024 Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki took a similar tack with Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on her MSNBC show “Inside with Jen Psaki.” Newsom argued that Musk was “not the person” he knew in the past and suggested that his association with Trump was what had changed him. He also hinted that it was certainly at least possible that the X owner had some sort of ulterior motive for his plan. “Look, I’ve known Elon for over 20, 25 years, one of America’s great entrepreneurs and innovators. But this is not the person I knew even two years ago. With respect to Elon, I just don’t have the confidence that there’s other things he’s not up to behind the scenes. Not just again what he’s expressing quite publicly and I’m very concerned about a country where people like Elon Musk, others that are sucking up to Donald Trump that will undoubtably be carved out of regulations, undoubtably get massive, even larger federal contracts. It is an American oligarchy that can be formed here.” .@GavinNewsom on Elon Musk: “Look, I've known Elon for over 20, 25 years, one of America's great entrepreneurs and innovators. But this is not the person I knew… With respect to Elon, I just don't have the confidence that there's other things he's not up to behind the scenes.” pic.twitter.com/ReOdXmstHt — Inside with Jen Psaki (@InsideWithPsaki) October 20, 2024

Tiny Skier’s Adorable “Confession” Is Too Cute — And Too Relatable!

Katy Robin and her family of three love to go on adventures together, and they document many of them on social media. For the most part, Katy, her husband, and their kids have a blast! But like all of us, there are some days when going out for an adventure doesn’t sound like the most fun idea. Unfortunately for Katy’s girl, this is something she didn’t realize until she was in the middle of skiing. For a while, the Robin family had a blast on the slopes… but then Emi put a pause on their adventure. Turns out, she needed to explain to Mom that, while her parents are “zoomer-arounders,” she’s more of a “layer-arounder.” Actually, it’s probably best if you hear Emi explain her thoughts herself — watch the video below to do just that! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Katy Robin︱Adventure Mom Outdoors (@katyrobinbird) At this moment, Katy could have gotten frustrated, especially since she knows that Emi does enjoy being a “zoomer-arounder” most days. Instead, she took the time to listen and better understand what her kid needed. The answer? A bit of a break! Feeling too warm, Katy started by removing the excess layers off Emi. From here, the two of them took a much-needed break. Little Girl Pauses Her Family’s Skiing Adventure Because She’s a “Layer-Arounder” After their break, which included a tasty snack of gummies, Emi herself asked if they could keep skiing. Best of all, Katy made sure to include both “zoomer-arounder” and “layer-arounder” activities that day. So, after a day of skiing, it was time for some hot cocoa while snuggled up with a good book! “I wish I had had the words to say this to my kind, dear, and so very active mother when I was little,” someone shares in the comment section, with another adding, “I’ve never related to anything more.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here! “Meowdy, Purrtner!” Cats Frolic In The Field Wearing Cutest Cowboy Costumes

Somebody call the sheriff, because these adorable cats in cowboy costumes just stole our hearts! A pet owner on social media caught the sweetest footage of their four-legged friends dressed in their Wild West best. These kitties seemed to be having a rootin’-tootin’ good time as they pranced around in their tiny cowboy hats and kerchiefs. This precious video has been going viral online! Many cats don’t like being dressed up, but these two didn’t seem to mind their cowboy costumes at all. In fact, they looked like they really enjoyed running around the open fields in their little outfits! Pumpkin, an orange kitty, made an excellent sheriff while Jack Spicer, a tuxedo cat, was the perfect sidekick. What made this video even better was the epic sunset! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Spicer (@spicerjackjack) “Sheriff Pumpkin is keeping Jack Spicer in line,” joked the cats’ owner in their caption. Commenters loved seeing these cats play pretend in their cowboy costumes. “Sheriff Pumpkin and Deputy Spicer are the Law in this here town!” wrote one user. Another quipped, “Meowboys.” There are plenty more videos of these cats wearing cowboy costumes on Jack Spicer’s Instagram account. In fact, his profile is filled with them! Some of these videos show the adorable tuxedo cat roaming the outdoors alone, while others feature some of his four-legged friends. Here’s what happened when this little cowboy met a real cow. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Spicer (@spicerjackjack) In one clip, Jack Spicer met an actual cow while dressed in his cowboy kerchief. Unfortunately, this little cat didn’t seem to hit it off with the larger animal at all. After sizing the cow up for a moment, he took off! It’s a good thing that this cat isn’t an actual cowboy, because we’re pretty sure that being scared of cows would hold him back in that profession. As long as he looks cute in his costume, though, that’s good enough for us! You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. Dad Preps Kids For Parks With “The Disney Pep Talk We All Need”

Dad Preps Kids For Parks With “The Disney Pep Talk We All Need”

We’ve all met the “coach dad.” He coaches every sport that his kids participate in. He motivates teams to do better, on and off the field. His pep talks are legendary! This guy may not be the coach of anything, but he has mastered the pep talk part. Before adventuring to one of the Disney parks, this dad sat his five kids down and gave them a perfect pep talk. Insert throat clearing and maybe a fake cough or two here. @fullmhouse The muffin was the main character ♬ original sound – Fullmhouse Each of the kids is expressing their thoughts without saying a word. You can almost hear what they’re thinking. The oldest boy, fidgeting with his hands in his pockets: “Seriously, dad? When is this agony going to end?” He laughs aloud at the absurdity of a few of the talking points. The second oldest boy, seated and staring up at Dad, is trying hard to figure out if he needs to remember this. The daughter bouncing around in the Minnie Mouse ears is already at the Disney park. She isn’t hearing a single word Dad is saying. The two youngest have cupcakes they’re concentrating on. They have no clue what he is saying because CHOCOLATE! Image from TikTok. That said if you listen to what he is saying, this dad/coach is giving some great pointers on squashing all the fun that is the Disney parks. Avoid the overpriced churros, no Mickey Mouse ears, and think pumpkin spice. Come on, dad. They’re kids, not a group of women on a pumpkin spice kick. They want the churros, and the little ones want the Mickey Mouse ears. Sorry, but no one wants the pumpkin spice. And it isn’t a real trip to Disney unless someone vomits. Those are the rules when you have five kids. Finishing Up The Disney Parks Pep Talk The next bit makes good sense. He assigns each of the kids a specific character to watch out for, which increases their odds of getting photo ops. He discusses long lines and how they will be worth it (no, they won’t). Stressing that the kids should enjoy each other’s company during the potentially long waits is also good. It might even happen a bit between petty squabbles. But, hey, let Dad have his dream. Next comes the obligatory snacks and hydration part of the pep talk. Since they have a stroller, they have snacks and drinks. There is no need to buy the overpriced snacks and beverages offered throughout the park. Let’s hope he left something in the budget for Dole Whips. A trip to the Disney parks without a Dole whip is just depressing. In true coach fashion, he has the kids “bring it in” for a rallying cry. At that point, he notices that Mom is already running late. Oops. The family is sure to have a great time visiting the Disney parks. Even though we poked fun at Dad’s pep talk, he did have some good points for any family visiting the parks. Pack snacks (save your money for Dole whips), stay hydrated, and have fun! You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
