“I’m With Elon” – Gavin Newsom Says Following SpaceX Lawsuit

In an interview, California Gov. Gavin Newsom backed Elon Musk in his dispute with the state’s agency that blocked a plan to increase SpaceX rocket launches off the Pacific coast. “The California Coastal Commission rejected the U.S. Air Force’s plans that permitted SpaceX to launch up to 50 rockets per year from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County,” 100 Percent Fed Up previously reported. “I’m with Elon,” Newsom told the outlet. “I didn’t like that,” he added. "I'm With Elon": Gavin Newsom Unexpectedly Backs SpaceX In California Lawsuit Against Rogue Democrats  https://t.co/V8KRSsJ2Hv — zerohedge (@zerohedge) October 19, 2024 POLITICO reports: Musk sued the California Coastal Commission on Tuesday in federal court in Los Angeles, alleging it “engaged in naked political discrimination” when commissioners cited his support for former President Donald Trump in rejecting a Department of Defense proposal to expand the number of SpaceX launches at Vandenberg Space Force Base. “Look, I’m not helping the legal case,” Newsom acknowledged. He added, “You can’t bring up that explicit level of politics.” Newsom indicated he broadly agreed with the lawsuit and that the independent agency should have confined its debate to the merits of the permit rather than engage in a discussion of Musk’s political activities. “These are friends of mine that said that,” said Newsom, who appoints some of the members. “These are good commissioners. But you got to call balls and strikes. And trust me, I’m not big on the Elon Musk bandwagon right now. So that’s me calling balls and strikes.” ‘I’m with Elon’: Newsom sides with Musk over California agency on SpaceX launches https://t.co/IxEF0DjXXc — POLITICO (@politico) October 18, 2024 Per Zero Hedge: Newsom sided with SpaceX in the lawsuit and pointed out that an independent agency should have been involved, politics aside, in the decision-making process for rocket launches at the base. Newsom understands that, unlike many Democrats, SpaceX has become a critical part of national security rocket programs. In fact, Musk’s rocket company is quite literally America’s space program in terms of space launches and total mass catapulted into low Earth Orbit. SpaceX will even rescue Boeing’s stranded crew at the International Space Station early next year. Using data from BryceTech, SpaceX launched 525 spacecraft into orbit in the first quarter, far outpacing China and Russia. Musk is America’s rocket program: SpaceX launched about 429,125 kg of spacecraft upmass in the first quarter, significantly outpacing China’s rocket program (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation), which launched a measly 29,426 kg. Much of this is due to SpaceX’s Starlink deployment in LEO, as thousands of these satellites provide high-speed internet coverage to millions of customers worldwide. WATCH:

Tragic Ferry Dock Collapse Kills At Least Seven People

A ferry dock collapse on Georgia’s Sapelo Island has tragically killed at least seven people. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (Georgia DNR), a portion of the Marsh Landing Dock on the island collapsed around 4:30 p.m. The freak accident caused up to 20 people to plummet into the water. One of the deaths reportedly was the chaplain of the state agency which operates the dock. “At least 20 people went into the water and they are working to determined injuries. This was shot by someone shortly before the collapse showing what it looks like,” FOX 5 Atlanta anchor Eric Perry said. Jones said a gangway at the dock collapsed and sent people plunging into the water. It happened as crowds gathered on the island for a celebration of its tiny Gullah-Geechee community of Black slave descendants. “There have been seven fatalities confirmed,” Jones said. “There have been multiple people transported to area hospitals, and we are continuing to search the water for individuals.” Jones said he did not know what caused the gangway to collapse, but officials believe there were at least 20 people on it at the time. The gangway connected an outer dock where people board the ferry to another dock onshore. Sapelo Island is about 60 miles south of Savannah and can be reached from the mainland by boat. The group was visiting from Florida to attend Cultural Heritage Day when they saw four bodies, floating face-down in the water, pulled out to sea due to the low tide currents. Members of the McIntosh County Shouters were also among those who were swept into the water, according to County Commissioner Rogert Lotson, adding that they have all survived, to his knowledge.“Many of those who were on the ramp and many of the injured and dead are elderly,” Lotson said. “It is a big tragedy for the county.” The fatal incident happened as crowds gathered on the island to celebrate its tiny Gullah-Geechee community of Black slave descendants for Cultural Day, according to ABC News. The annual event spotlights the island’s tiny community of Hogg Hummock, which is home to a few dozen Black residents and consists of dirt roads and modest homes founded by former slaves from the cotton plantation of Thomas Spalding, the outlet reported.

Here’s Another Reason Not to Vote for Harris: ‘Voting Rights’

Rep. Katherine Clark (Mass.), the Democratic whip, said if they win the House, they plan to resurrect their voting rights bills and pass legislation to counter Roe v Wade. That should strike terror in the minds and hearts. They say they want to preserve ‘democracy,’ starting with ‘voting rights.’ They will not call this nation […] The post Here’s Another Reason Not to Vote for Harris: ‘Voting Rights’ appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Biden Suing VA For Purging Illegals From Voting Rolls Even Though DOJ Approved The Law

The U.S. Department of Justice previously explicitly approved a Virginia state law designed to prevent noncitizens from being added to voter rolls that the Biden-Harris DOJ is now suing the state for enforcing, The Daily Wire has exclusively learned. The law has been in force since 2007 and was signed by then-governor Tim Kaine, who is now a Democrat senator. On October 25, 2006, Virginia’s then-Senior Assistant Attorney General J. Jasen Eige wrote to the federal DOJ, “I submit for your approval pursuant to the Voting Rights Act… changes to the Driver’s License Process in the Commonwealth of Virginia by requiring a declaration of citizenship before a customer is offered the opportunity to register to vote.” In December, John Tanner, then-chief of the DOJ’s Voting Section, replied, “The Attorney General does not interpose any objection to the specified change.” The letter noted that it did not preclude the possibility of litigation in the future. Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, told The Daily Wire on Saturday, “We are upholding the Constitution and Virginia law signed 18 years ago by then-governor Tim Kaine. And we now know that the Virginia law was reviewed and expressly approved by the DOJ civil rights division. Now, after being applied for 18 years by both Democrat and Republican governors, with just 25 days before the presidential election, the Biden-Harris DOJ sues Virginia.” MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ COMING TO DAILYWIRE+ OCT. 28 “Ensuring Virginia’s voter rolls do not include non-citizens is constitutional, it’s the law in Virginia and it’s common sense,” he added. “Non-citizens shouldn’t be on the voter rolls.” In September, Democrats threatened to shut down the federal government rather than pass a spending bill that included the SAVE Act, which would require voters to prove their citizenship. The Biden-Harris administration explained that it “strongly opposes” the bill because “[it] is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in Federal elections” and “[states] already have effective safeguards in place to verify voters’ eligibility and maintain the accuracy of voter rolls.” The administration then began blocking states from enforcing those existing laws. In addition to suing Virginia, it sued Alabama for a similar effort. A 2006 memo from Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles summarized the new process in which people applying for driver’s licenses would be asked if they are a citizen and, if they said yes, given the opportunity to register to vote. If they said no, that would be transmitted to the state elections board so it could ensure that the person did not unlawfully attempt to register separately. The U.S. Department of Justice “indicated no concerns with the legislation as written and referred to guidance it provided for a similar process in Maryland,” as well as noting that “the Federal Code explicitly makes it a crime for a non-citizen to vote, or attempt to vote,” the memo said. This August, Youngkin signed an executive order instructing the Department of Elections to remove “non-citizens who may have purposefully or accidentally registered to vote.” The order said that between January 2022 and July 2024, it identified and removed 6,300 people who were on the rolls despite being identified as non-citizens. Virginia also entered into data-sharing agreements with other states and identified 79,867 deceased voters and identified registered voters who had moved out of state. Youngkin won his 2021 race by 63,000 votes, meaning ineligible voters on the voter rolls could conceivably affect the 2024 presidential race, if they actually voted. But on October 11, the Biden-Harris DOJ announced that its civil rights division was suing the state for removing names from the voter rolls “too close to the Nov. 5 general election.” It said federal law creates a “Quiet Period” that requires states to “complete systematic programs aimed at removing the names of ineligible voters from voter registration lists no later than 90 days before federal elections.” Youngkin’s executive order came exactly 90 days before election day and said it would perform daily sweeps of the data moving forward. Youngkin said, “Virginia’s election will be secure and fair, and I will not stand idly by as this politically motivated action tries to interfere in our elections, period.” The DOJ’s lawsuit acknowledges that Youngkin’s plan was based on people explicitly telling the DMV that they were not citizens, and that it did not remove then from the rolls unless they failed to provide evidence that it was a mistake within 14 days. The suit said that the notice sent to voters reads: “[w]e have received information that you indicated on a recent DMV application that you are not a citizen of the United States. If the information provided was correct, you are not eligible to vote. If the information is incorrect and you are a citizen of the United States, please complete the Affirmation of Citizenship form and return it using the enclosed envelope. If you do not respond within 14 days, you will be removed from the list of registered voters.” Nonetheless, it said the process was a burden that could lead to people who are actually citizens having their registration cancelled.

Kitten Left in Stairwell, But His Face Lights Up as Soon as He's in a Home, Especially at Sight of Other Cats

A kitten was left in a stairwell, but his face lit up as soon as he was in a home, especially at the sight of other cats. JardaniAlyssaIt was a rainy day when Alyssa, a volunteer at Puppy Kitty NY City, received a photo of a young cat in desperate need of help.A neighbor found the kitten left in a building stairwell with a tiny cup of water and food and began knocking on doors. "He was told they didn't want the cat and are moving," Alyssa shared. She received the message as she was leaving the shelter and immediately headed to the scene. When she arrived, she couldn't find the cat. Alyssa"I thought someone took him, or he ran out because the stairway led to two open doors out the building where it was pouring."She looked around, calling for the kitten, until she noticed a little movement below the ceiling, right on top of the pressure gauge. Always carrying treats with her, Alyssa offered some to the kitten, who became instantly interested. AlyssaThough wary and unsure, the kitten couldn't resist the enticing smell and slowly inched closer to Alyssa. "It made him curious enough to peek out and for me to climb up and scruff him."When the kitten entered his foster home with Alyssa, the worries in his eyes instantly melted away, and his purr engine started rumbling. AlyssaWithin hours, the kitten, named Jardani, transformed into a cuddle bug, his paws kneading a blanket and his purr motor running nonstop. A few gentle chin scratches sent him straight to cloud nine, his eyes closing in contentment.Feeling safe and comfy, Jardani rolled on his back, offering his fluffy belly to his foster mom for rubs and kisses. AlyssaJardani has regained his boisterous, playful spirit, batting at toys like a real boxer. When he tires out from sparing, he seeks out his people and demands cuddles on their lap or in their arms. He's the first to leap to the top of a cat post, darting after toys with ferocious energy. Yet, after playtime, he turns into the biggest baby, melting into his humans. "When he wants love, he just looks for my lap, tries to jump up, or yells at me with his squeaky meow. He gets completely floppy. This boy is pure love." Alyssa"He's been doing so well here and even bold enough to sit on the coffee table, but who can say no to this face."When Jardani met the other foster cats in the house, he was completely enamored. He followed them everywhere and tried to be their best friend. AlyssaNo matter how wildly he zooms around while playing, he is always a sweet, gentle soul with his people and feline friends. One of the cats, DJ Mittens, is a bit wobbly, and Jardani often wraps his arm around him, giving him affectionate, thorough face washes. Jardani and MittsAlyssaJardani has also taken Monchichi, the cat, under his wing, showing off his impressive swiping skills at toys and flawless high jumps."Jardani and Monchi love chasing each other from room to room, and they each like wrestling with Mitts, who loves any attention he gets. And the three are always grooming each other. It's so sweet, even if it's followed by some wrestling." Mitts, Jardani, and MonchiAlyssaMonchi and Mitts are growing braver, more playful, and curious, trying to keep up with Jardani's boundless energy. Together, they embark on new daily adventures."Not only is he a cutie, but he has the funniest meows, needs to be cuddled, and shows off his new talents every day." AlyssaAlyssa didn't plan to take in another foster but couldn't leave the kitten to fend for himself. Now, he's thriving with his feline crew, racing fast, jumping high, and cuddling close without a care in the world. AlyssaShare this story with your friends.
