A series of outbreaks — largely tied to deli meat — has killed 10 people across 19 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Sept. 25. More than 11 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry items have also been recalled as a result. Listeria infections typically cause flu-like symptoms, like fever, headache, and fatigue. The bacteria can be especially serious and possibly fatal for older adults, people with weakened immune systems, newborns and those who are pregnant. The most common way to get infected is by eating food contaminated with listeria. Symptoms can appear as early as the same day or as late as 10 weeks later, according to the CDC. Depending on the severity of the infection, some people can recover on their own, while others may need antibiotics. TreeHouse Foods said customers should check their freezers for any products listed in the recall here. Those with recalled products should throw them out or return them to the grocery for credit. Life In America Following an EMP Attack: Week 1: Immediate Chaos and Confusion In the immediate aftermath, there would be widespread panic and confusion. The EMP, having disabled all electronics, would leave individuals without means of communication; cell phones, internet, and radio would be rendered useless. Transportation systems would grind to a halt. Modern vehicles with electronic components would fail, leading to widespread traffic jams and stranded individuals. Emergency services would be severely hampered, struggling to respond to incidents without their usual communication and transportation infrastructure. There would be a run on stores for essential supplies as people quickly realize the severity of the situation. This could lead to shortages and even looting in some areas. Week 2-3: Adapting to the New Reality Communities would begin to adapt. Those with older, non-electronic vehicles and equipment would find themselves at an advantage. People would turn to bicycles, horses, or simply walking for transportation. The lack of refrigeration and electronic banking systems would lead to a reliance on cash transactions and bartering. Localized trading systems might emerge. Battery-operated or hand-crank radios would become vital sources of information, assuming some radio stations could continue broadcasting. No, that award goes to a third-party Pączki cookie, a Polish treat that the bakery has dubbed “the sweetest candidate” for people who will not be voting for Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. The 27-year-old was charged on Sept. 17 with four felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect, possession of methamphetamine and THC, the latter of which is commonly found in cannabis, according to court docs obtained by In Touch Friday. She was reportedly also hit with two misdemeanors: disorderly conduct/domestic abuse and possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs. Chelsea was arrested and charged after officers visited her home in Marinette, Wisc., on Sept. 10 due to a dispute she had with her boyfriend, Jacob Nelund, that promoted her to call police, the docs state. While on the phone, dispatchers could reportedly hear a woman telling another person to “get the hell away.” Upon arrival, police noted Chelsea’s pupils were “dilated” and that she “was not being honest whatsoever.” The officer who documented the visit also said he had been called to the home for a “similar incident” weeks prior and experienced the same situation. A spokesperson for Rose O’Donnell says her daughter’s arrested is no surprise: the family has known about her drug addiction for awhile. Oakmont Bakery, a bakery near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, held its tradition of selling cookies with the faces of presidential candidates. It has been a tradition for the bakery shop since they could place images onto cookies. Instead of having only Trump and Harris cookies, Oakmont Bakery decided to include a third-party candidate. “Just to sort of keep it fun and loose, we have a third-party (cookie) this year, which is the Pączki,” Michael Sullivan, the retail manager at Oakmont Bakery, commented. Trump will spend the weekend traveling around the battleground state. Per CBS News: Trump is set to deliver remarks at the campaign event at the airport in Unity Township at 6 p.m. The gates opened at 2 p.m., and hundreds of people flooded to their seats. Before Trump took the stage, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown gave a short speech in support of the former president. Brown talked about how both he and Trump have overcome adversity. Saturday is set to be Trump’s latest visit to Western Pennsylvania. Earlier this month, he held a rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds, the same place where he was the victim of an assassination attempt in July. Trump is expected to traverse Pennsylvania this weekend. After Saturday’s rally in Westmoreland County, he is expected to work as a fry cook at a McDonald’s on Sunday after claiming multiple times that his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has lied about working at McDonald’s in college. He is then scheduled to host a town hall at the Lancaster Convention Center in Southern Pennsylvania on Sunday. He is expected to finish his day in Western Pennsylvania at the Pittsburgh Steelers-New York Jets game at Acrisure Stadium.
