Can’t Get Your Kid To Sleep? Try This Sturgill Simpson Lullaby Album
Is regular Sturgill Simpson music a little too much for your newborn baby? Then check out this collection of lullaby renditions of Sturgill's greatest hits.
Sorry to sound like the start of a late-night infomercial right there. I'm just excited because I stumbled upon what could be one of the greatest things ever created. Some very talented people (called the Lullaby Baby Trio) decided to sift through some of Simpson's best songs and remake them into harmless, sleep-inducing lullabies.
And it's magnificent.
According to the Lullaby Baby Trio, they released this collection of Sturgill Simpson lullaby covers in September of 2018. So admittedly, we're a little late to the party. Though in my opinion, it's always better to be fashionably late than to never arrive at all.
The music group (or lullaby group) also has albums that cover Chris Stapleton, Garth Brooks, Jimmy Buffett and even the Grateful Dead. Basically think of any artist or genre, and they've done it. Whoever they are, they're really doing the Lord's work for parents that are just longing to hear something other than the "Bluey Theme Song."
I don't even have kids and that song is perpetually playing on loop in my head.
But getting back to the Sturgill lullabies... is there something slightly problematic with having your kiddo fall asleep to "Life of Sin" or "Life Ain't Fair and the World is Mean?" Possibly, but they won't know any better. Not until they grow up and they randomly hear Sturgill Simpson on some sort of throwback station/playlist and their childhood comes rushing back to them.
All I know is that playing these Simpson lullaby covers will help your child develop a world-class, no-nonsense taste of music, and what more could you ask for? Just imagine one day down the road when your grown kid walks into the kitchen and asks you, "Who is Johnny Blue Skies?"
By the way, Lullaby Baby Trio, if you are reading this... you've gotta get a Passage Du Desir cover album put together ASAP. Parents that happen to also be Johnny Blue Skies/Sturgill Simpson fans are dying to rock their babies to sleep to a soft, ambient rendition of "Swamp of Sadness."
I went ahead and gathered up some of the full length album below. There's plenty more that I didn't include, so feel free to seek out the others. And be careful - listening to Sturgill Simpson lullabies may cause drowsiness and an overwhelming urge to stick it to the man.

Alright, if I'm being honest, "Call To Arms" is still a little too energetic - even in lullaby version. The last thing we would want to do is light a fire under babies and toddlers to question the amount of snacks, sleep and screen time that's being forced upon them.
Otherwise though, all of the songs are still absolute bangers in their softer, kid-friendly form. Hey Alexa... change out my nightly white noise bedtime routine with this Sturgill Simpson lullaby playlist.
