President-elect Donald Trump weighed in on the seemingly imminent collapse of Syria on Saturday afternoon, saying that the U.S. should not get involved in the mess. In just a little over a week, terrorist rebels have conquered Aleppo in northern Syria and have quickly moved south, capturing Hama, and are now moving through Homs toward the country’s capital city of Damascus. “Opposition fighters in Syria, in an unprecedented move, have totally taken over numerous cities, in a highly coordinated offensive, and are now on the outskirts of Damascus, obviously preparing to make a very big move toward taking out Assad,” Trump said in a statement. “Russia, because they are so tied up in Ukraine, and with the loss there of over 600,000 soldiers, seems incapable of stopping this literal march through Syria, a country they have protected for years,” he continued. “This is where former President Obama refused to honor his commitment of protecting the RED LINE IN THE SAND, and all hell broke out, with Russia stepping in.” Trump noted that the terrorist rebels were trying to push Russia and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad out and suggested that there was no upside for Russia even being there. “In any event, Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT,” Trump said. “THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. Experts on the Russian military said that the country would struggle to evacuate its main airbase in Syria before the terrorist rebels capture it. They believe that all the personnel will be evacuated, but much of the hardware, including some of the military planes used to back the Syrian regime, would be left behind. Fighting in the Syrian civil war had remained largely quiet since 2020 when a ceasefire was struck, but recent events cracked the forces that had kept the current lines frozen. The two main events that have changed the situation in the country were Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 and Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists launching an unprecedented terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has siphoned away support that it would send to back Assad’s forces in its fight against the rebel terrorists — primarily Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) that evolved out of Al-Qaeda’s former branch in Syria. HTS’s leader, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, is a terrorist who has a $10 million bounty on his head from the U.S. government. “Amid the excitement surrounding the potential downfall of the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad, analysts and the media often overlook that it is happening at the hands of jihadist groups,” said Joe Truzman, Senior Research Analyst and Editor at Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Long War Journal. “The prospect of a Syrian state dominated by Islamist factions, especially if they gain access to advanced weaponry pilfered from regime arsenals, undoubtedly raises significant concerns in Israel and the surrounding region,” Truzman added. Hamas’ massacre of 1,200 people in October 2023 sparked war throughout the Middle East between Israel and Iran and all of Iran’s terrorist proxy groups. Israel has decimated the largest and most powerful of the terrorist groups, Lebanon-based Hezbollah, killing thousands of its fighters, wiping out most of its large arsenal of aerial munitions, and killing off its top leaders and nearly all of its senior commanders. Prior to being severely damaged by Israel’s superior military, Hezbollah was backing Assad in Syria and helped him keep power. Israel was actively monitoring the situation and is believed to have destroyed a Syrian chemical weapons cache to prevent the weapons from falling into the hands of the terrorists. “The IDF is following events and is preparing for any scenario in attack and defense,” the IDF said in a statement. “The IDF will not allow a threat near the Syrian-Israeli border and will act to thwart any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel.”

California Republican Assemblyman Bill Essayli reintroduced a bill on Thursday that would require at least one armed school resource officer (SRO) on every public school campus in the state. Essayli is pushing the bill again after a crazed man shot and wounded two kindergartners in Oroville, California, on Wednesday. Essayli’s introduction of Assembly Bill 68 comes after Democrats on the Assembly Education Committee shot down the same legislation earlier this year. The Republican assemblyman told The Daily Wire in a phone interview that he wants lawmakers to spend more time focusing on protecting children in schools. “Every time one of these shootings happens, it just becomes a 24-hour news story and then goes away. We don’t ever do anything,” he said. “And then the two sides just blame each other. You’ve got Democrats blaming Republicans for not having more strict gun laws and then Republicans just not offering up any solutions.” “This is not a time for empty rhetoric. This is a time, as policymakers, to look at what can we do to prevent this from happening again,” Essayli added. “I strongly believe in school resource officers. I think they’re specially trained, they carry a weapon, and they’re able to neutralize a threat immediately on campus. Otherwise, if someone comes up and starts shooting, you have to wait minutes or longer for police to respond and dozens of kids can die in the meantime.” While AB 68 would not apply to private schools like the Seventh-Day Adventist school that was targeted on Wednesday, Essayli told The Daily Wire that he wants the legislation to “set the standard on what we expect at schools and the type of safety and protection we expect for our kids.” He added that if parents begin to expect to have armed guards protecting their children at public schools, private schools would soon follow “the lead as well if that becomes the standard.” “I do think it’s a state responsibility. The state should pay for the SROs. Right now, the local jurisdictions have to bear the costs of hiring and employing those officers,” Essayli added. “We should protect our kids. I believe our kids should have just as much protection, if not more, than the politicians have up here in Sacramento.” The Republican lawmaker acknowledged that the bill faces an uphill battle in California, arguing that what should be common sense legislation is often stopped by “backwards logic.” “It’s upside down world,” he said. Mendez was shot twice, resulting in internal injuries, and Wolford was shot once in the stomach, also resulting in internal injuries. Both boys “successfully” made it through surgery on Friday, but remain in critical condition, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. According to authorities, the 56-year-old shooter scheduled an appointment with the principal to discuss enrolling his grandson. The appointment, however, appeared to be “a ruse,” and after the meeting, the man opened fire on the Christian schoolchildren. Authorities said that the shooter had mental health issues and a lengthy criminal record dating back to the early 1990s.

New York Mayor Eric Adams said on Saturday that he is optimistic about authorities’ progress in tracking down the assassin who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The suspect still has not been identified by the NYPD, but a backpack police believe the assassin was wearing when he gunned down Thompson was recovered in Central Park on Friday. Adams, a former NYPD officer, said that officials currently do not want to inform the public on whether police know the suspect’s name. “We don’t want to release that now. If we do, we are basically giving a tip to the person we are seeking and we do not want to give him an upper hand at all,” he said. “Let him continue to believe he can hide behind the mask. We revealed his face. We’re going to reveal who he is and we’re going to bring him to justice.” “And the manner in which they were able to follow his footsteps to recover evidence – some of it is known, some of it is unknown – but the net is tightening and we’re going to bring this person to justice,” the mayor added. There has been some confusion on whether police believe a person caught smiling on surveillance in the lobby of a Manhattan hostel is the suspected assassin or just a “person of interest” wanted for questioning. The killer was masked and wearing a dark hoodie and a “distinctive” gray backpack. After shooting Thompson, the assassin fled the scene on foot before getting on a bike and riding into Central Park. Police said the suspect was then seen again on surveillance footage outside Central Park without his backpack. On Friday evening, police recovered a backpack between “some boulders just south of the Central Park Carousel,” CNN’s John Miller reported. The backpack was then taken to the NYPD’s crime lab where its contents will be searched and potentially analyzed for DNA evidence. I think that it should be outlawed. I don’t like the death of little children. A lot of people say that it’s a fetus and that it’s not a human. That’s the farthest thing from the truth.” “We were all fetuses, and with a little bit of time, we all became the beautiful lady that you are standing right in front of me,” he continued. “So I think abortion is terrible.” The college students then brought up abortion in cases of rape, but Kirt didn’t let it knock him off his game. “I don’t know of any states, if you do get raped, where you can’t get an abortion. In Texas, you can get an abortion if you get raped,” Kirt answered, before bringing out the big guns. “Let me tell y’all something real quick, and y’all are young African-American ladies.
