Tim Walz Ducks Free Speech Debate in Evasive Interview Over Misinformation Crackdown

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. In an interview with Fox News Sunday’s Shannon Bream, Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Tim Walz found himself in the hot seat over his stance on free speech, particularly regarding so-called “misinformation” and “hate speech.” Walz, who has previously expressed a desire to limit certain forms of expression, gave an evasive and meandering response when asked to clarify his position. Walz’s comments have been the subject of concern, especially following his assertion that “There’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech” if he and Kamala Harris win the upcoming election. Related: Walz’s War on Words: A Blatant Distortion of the First Amendment When Bream pressed him on who would ultimately have the power to define “misinformation,” Walz sidestepped the question. Instead, he launched into a lengthy discussion about book bans and violent threats, avoiding the central issue of free speech restrictions. Bream’s attempt to distinguish between threats and misinformation resulted in yet another detour from Walz, who again brought up book banning without offering any substantive answer on misinformation. His unwillingness to engage directly on the topic of free speech raised further concerns that under a Harris-Walz administration, the government itself could become the arbiter of what constitutes “misinformation.” The implications of Walz’s remarks are troubling for advocates of free speech. In his convoluted responses, Walz seemed to blur the lines between genuine threats and dissenting opinions, a tactic that has left many questioning the true intent behind his push to regulate speech. By conflating hate speech with misinformation, Walz opens the door to potential government overreach that could infringe on the First Amendment rights of Americans. While Walz insists that he supports the First Amendment, his reluctance to differentiate between dangerous threats and controversial speech raises red flags about the future of open discourse in America. Person Offers Shelter Cat and Three Kittens Fresh Start, One of Them is Quick to Take Charge

A kind-hearted person offered a shelter cat and her three kittens a fresh start. One of them was quick to take charge. RainyHeidi at FosterKittenMamaWhen Heidi Shoemaker, founder of Foster Kitten Mama, learned about a cat family needing placement at a shelter, she jumped at the chance to help. They arrived at the rescue on a Sunday last month, where Heidi was met with a sweet, affectionate mom cat named Misty. Purring up a storm, Misty seemed relieved to have found a quiet and comfortable place instead of the confines of a shelter kennel. She had been taking great care of her kittens (Stormy, Breezy, and Rainy), who were plump and happy. Out of the three munchkins, one was quick to stand out. MistyHeidi at FosterKittenMamaRainy, a solid gray kitten, immediately stole the spotlight. Though still honing her walk, she waddled around with an air of confidence. "She is super outgoing and playful. She has one lazy eye, but that doesn't slow her down," Heidi shared with Love Meow.Unlike her siblings, who relished their naps, Rainy was wiggling around, batting at toys, or wrestling with anyone nearby. Breezy and RainyHeidi at FosterKittenMamaThe little family ended up needing more help than expected when they fell sick after their stay at the shelter. With proper care, comfy beds, and plenty of TLC, they were nursed back to health. As Rainy grew bigger and stronger, she transformed into a ball of energy, bouncing around with vigor. Her mischievous nature and googly eyes added an extra layer of charm. Rainy has one lazy eye, but nothing slows her downHeidi at FosterKittenMamaRainy often pulled her siblings into a wrestling match in the midst of snuggling with mama Misty. She was the first to try new toys, leaping around to catch them, dominating every play session. But the moment Heidi scooped her up, she started making "biscuits," kneading away in the air. Heidi at FosterKittenMamaThough her eyes seemed to have a mind of their own, they never missed a target during play, always locked on with precision. As the kittens entered their teenage phase, they became bolder and more curious, scaling the playpen and jumping on top of cat posts twice their height.Rainy, Misty's little mini-me, is the bravest and the most adventurous. Heidi at FosterKittenMamaShe plots her daily antics and keeps her mom on her toes, always vying to be the center of attention. "Rainy is a little whirlwind."While her brother Snowy spends most of his time snoozing in dreamland, Rainy romps around, pouncing and chasing after toys. With a burst of energy, she leaps atop the tallest cat post and takes in her surroundings with her wide, googly eyes. Heidi at FosterKittenMamaKnowing how much Misty adores her trio, Heidi hoped to get her adopted with at least one of her kittens. While kittens find homes quickly, mother cats are often overlooked.Over the weekend, Heidi received great news for Misty - a lovely family fell head over heels for her and her boy, Stormy. Snowy and MistyHeidi at FosterKittenMamaOnce the kittens are old enough, the family will officially welcome the mother and son into their home. Meanwhile, Rainy and her beloved sister, Breezy, continue their foster journey, hoping for their happily ever after together. Rainy and her sister BreezyHeidi at FosterKittenMamaAfter their time at the shelter, Rainy and her siblings are thriving in their foster home with their doting mom watching over them every step of the way. Too Good to Check! CBS, NBC Rush to Imply TRUMP Behind 'Armed Militia... Hunting FEMA'

Both CBS Mornings and NBC's Today pounced on a Washington Post story which promoted an email alleging there was an "armed militia" speaking darkly of "hunting FEMA." Both CBS and NBC connected this alleged threat to clips of Donald Trump speeches.  Washington Post reporter Brianna Sacks, whose bio proclaims she "explores how climate change is transforming the United States through violent storms, intense heat, widespread wildfires, and other forms of extreme weather," promoted the usual Anonymous Sources making unproven claims:  Around 1 p.m. Saturday, an official with the U.S. Forest Service, which is supporting recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, sent an urgent message to numerous federal agencies warning that “FEMA has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately. The message stated that National Guard troops 'had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA.’” “The IMTs [incident management teams] have been notified and are coordinating the evacuation of all assigned personnel in that county,” the email added. How real was this alleged threat? The Post story underlined that it wasn't sure, but FEMA went back into the field on Sunday:  Two federal officials confirmed the authenticity of the email, though it was unclear whether the quoted threat was seen as credible. The National Guard referred questions to FEMA when asked about the incident. One Forest Service official coordinating the Helene recovery said responders moved to a “safe area” and at least some work in that area — which included clearing trees off dozens of damaged and blocked roads to help search-and-rescue crews, as well as groups delivering supplies — was paused. By Sunday afternoon, personnel were back in place, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. But on Monday morning, the panic remained. NBC's Kathy Park admitted they didn't have their own confirmation:  TOO GOOD TO CHECK! NBC pushes WashPost story on an email claiming armed militias were "hunting FEMA." Kathy Park: "NBC News has not seen the e-mail cited by the Post, and it is unclear whether the threat mentioned was seen as credible." Going off half-cocked. Narrative! pic.twitter.com/ng0FY15iQ7 — Tim Graham (@TimJGraham) October 14, 2024 The story came with a clip of Trump saying "Kamala spent all her FEMA money, billions of dollars, on housing for illegal migrants." On CBS, reporter Nicole Sganga didn't even admit the shaky sourcing.  TOO GOOD TO CHECK! 'CBS Mornings' also repeated the WashPost "hunting FEMA" story, but unlike NBC, they never said they didn't do their own confirmation. No, Nicole Sganga, presented the Post as automatically correct, while underlining wild conspiracy theories on the internet. pic.twitter.com/fUrVNTZY6D — Tim Graham (@TimJGraham) October 14, 2024 This story featured Trump saying "They stole the FEMA money...so they could give it to their illegal immigrants." Sganga reported Trump has "repeatedly spread that debunked lie," asserting the FEMA millions for migrants is a separate account. The networks reviled FEMA as an inefficient gang of bunglers under President Bush after Hurricane Katrina, and now they surround FEMA like a journalistic Secret Service, decrying how this phantom of Trump-inspired "armed militias" is ruining government efficiency.

Defamation Case: CNN Seals Journalistic Standards to Block Public View

Defamation Case: CNN Seals Journalistic Standards to Block Public View

According to court documents exclusively obtained by NewsBusters, CNN has apparently requested the court to seal mentions and quotes from their journalistic standards, effectively barring them from being viewed by the public in the $1 billion defamation suit against the Cable News Network. Hiding their journalistic standards from the people who are supposed to trust them as a news source is the exact opposite of what organizations like the Associated Press and The New York Times, which intentionally make theirs publicly available.     As NewsBusters previously reported on August 13, CNN was ordered to turn over their journalistic conduct and social media guidelines to Plaintiff and U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young. CNN was given 14 days to turn over both sets of guidelines, which they had been refusing to do, arguing that fact discovery was already closed. In a previous filing, Young’s lead counsel Vel Freedman of Freedman Normand Friedland LLP told the court that “CNN also objected to producing the journalist conduct guidelines because the request was somehow unduly burdensome, vague, overbroad, and the seeks commercially sensitive or privileged information.” The court appeared to meet both parties half way. In ordering them to be turned over, citations of the journalistic conduct guidelines needed to be redacted in publicly available documentation, which results in filings that look like Swiss cheese (see below). But even with those redactions, there appears to be enough for the pubic to put the pieces together and see that CNN reporter Alex Marquardt, and those who worked on the story, ignored their own guidelines on how to put a story together: -CNN’s guidelines state that “[Redacted].” But Marquardt made an on-camera phone call to Young that he knew Young was unlikely to answer, and when he did not answer – as anticipated – laughingly declared it [Redacted]. The footage was not disclosed as a recreation, [Redacted]. -CNN’s guidelines caution [Redacted]. But CNN did not hesitate to accuse Young of operating on an illegal “black market,” with no evidence. [Redacted].     They seemingly broke guidelines in approaching a story with a predetermined outcome: -According to CNN’s guidelines, [Redacted]. But as describe here, when it came to Plaintiff’s, CNN’s employees sought to advance a specific, predetermined, and false narrative rather than to objectively report facts. Marquardt even ignored potential leads – people that had actually arranged for payment to evacuate – because their [Redacted]. [Redacted]. -CNN’s guidelines warn that reporters should [Redacted]. In this case, CNN employees’ grossly unprofessional internal communications confirm that they had a predetermined goal for the story: to “nail” Young, something other CNN employees said they would “hold” Marquardt to.     The story about Young also didn’t appear to go through a rigorous editorial screening process: -[Redacted]. But as Trimble put it, the Young story was [Redacted]. -CNN’s standards provide that [Redacted]. CNN’s guidelines also emphasize that [Redacted]. But there is not a shred of evidence that the chyrons included in the Segment – includeing the one branding Young a “black Market” criminal – were ever scrutinized or validated. Nor did CNN appear to follow their own rules for giving a subject ample time to respond to a negative story they were publishing about them, and Marquardt seemed to buck at least one editor to make sure his story got to air: -CNN’s guidelines state, [Redacted]. Here, CNN not only failed to allow Young sufficient time to comment on the story, but allowed its own reporters to present a biased (and incorrect) narrative without even verification of accuracy, let alone a counternarrative. When a CNN editior attempted, fruitlessly, to impose any sort of controls on the process, Marquardt became [Redacted] and took steps to bypass that editor’s input.     The filing argues that this apparent evidence of a CNN reporter blowing through their journalistic conduct guidelines was added evidence that could be helpful to a jury determining if CNN was liable of defamation.

How Long Should I Treat Coccidia in Dogs? Vet-Explained Diagnosis, Treatment & Prevention

Click to Skip Ahead Duration of Coccidia Treatment Understanding Coccidia Diagnosis Retesting for Coccidia Prevention Tips Treatment Your puppy has vomiting and diarrhea, so you schedule a visit to the veterinarian’s office. After a physical exam, your vet recommends an intestinal parasite exam. After patiently waiting, you get the results: your puppy has coccidia. What is this intestinal parasite, and how do you eliminate it? Answering the principal question, the typical treatment for coccidia would around 5 to 10 days. How Long Should I Treat My Dog’s Coccidia? The first thing to understand is that not all cases of coccidia need to be treated. Many healthy dogs and cats will clear the infection on their own over several weeks. If your puppy has signs of a coccidial infection, like vomiting or diarrhea, your veterinarian will usually recommend treating the coccidia. Typical treatment lasts for 5 to 10 days. The vet might also suggest treating your dog if they are immunocompromised or have a heavy load of this protozoa on the fecal exam. Image Credit: AnnaStills, Shutterstock What Is Coccidia? Several species of coccidia exist, and they tend to be species-specific. For example, cats can be infected with Isospora felis, while dogs could be affected by Isospora canis. Sometimes, your veterinary team will find Eimeria, but this coccidial species is not pathogenic or disease-causing in dogs and cats. Coccidia are intestinal protozoa that affect the intestinal tract. They typically cause disease in younger, immunocompromised animals. Owners will usually see diarrhea, but they might also see vomiting, lethargy, weight loss, and dehydration. Diagnosing Coccidia Your veterinarian will need to perform a fecal exam to diagnose coccidia in your dog. The most common way to perform this test is fecal floatation, where a stool sample is usually centrifuged in a particular solution. The veterinary team then allows the solution to sit, and the parasite eggs or oocysts float to the surface. A microscope slide enables the veterinarian to visualize the eggs and diagnose the presence of parasites. When Should You Retest Your Dog for Coccidia? To ensure your dog’s coccidial infection is cleared, your veterinarian must retest a fresh stool sample at least 1 to 2 weeks after the initial treatment. Based on these results, your dog might need a second round of treatment. Image Credit: Gorodenkoff, Shutterstock Preventing Coccidiosis in Dogs Coccidia is mainly preventable. If you pick up your dog’s stool regularly, you’ll significantly decrease the likelihood of your pup getting reinfected with coccidia. If you bring a new pet home, ensure they have a fecal exam and veterinary visit as soon as possible. Avoid dog parks and other high-traffic areas to reduce your dog’s exposure to intestinal parasites. If you need to board your dog, ensure the facility thoroughly disinfects between pets. To help prevent reinfection, you’ll want to bathe your dog after the treatment to remove any oocysts on their coat, especially around their back end, tail, and paws. Treatment Options for Coccidia In the United States, sulfadimethoxine is the only FDA-approved medication for treating coccidial infections. This medication comes in a liquid under the brand Albon and tablets. While Albon is highly effective as a coccidiostat medication, other options, such as ponazuril, can be used off-label for coccidial infections. Some pets with coccidia are very sick when they are diagnosed, especially if they’ve had prolonged vomiting and diarrhea. Your veterinarian might recommend supportive care, including anti-nausea medication and fluid therapy. Side Effects of Albon When Treating Coccidia Gastrointestinal signs are the most common side effects in dogs given Albon. These side effects include: Inappetance Vomiting Diarrhea While the medication can be given with or without food, if your dog experiences any of these GI signs on an empty stomach, consider giving the medication with a meal. Sulfadimethoxine is a sulfa antibiotic. It can decrease your dog’s tear production and lead to dry eyes. For most dogs, the tear production will return to normal shortly after the sulfadimethoxine is discontinued, but it could be a lifelong condition. Less common but severe potential side effects include: Blood cell issues leading to disproportionate numbers of red or white blood cells Joint inflammation Rashes Some breeds seem to be more at risk for sensitivities to sulfadimethoxine. These breeds include: Doberman Pinschers Samoyeds Miniature Schnauzers Conclusion If your dog has diarrhea or vomiting, your veterinarian must run a fecal parasite test. If coccidia are detected, your veterinarian will usually prescribe sulfadimethoxine or a similar medication. Typically, dogs are treated for between 5 and 10 days. ‘Cause Trump sucks’: Kamala supporter has no idea why she's voting for her

There’s no better way to understand the minds of Kamala Harris supporters than by watching man-on-the-street style interviews where they’re forced to use critical thinking and quick wit to answer questions. Unfortunately, it appears that they don’t have either of those, as demonstrated in a recent clip of a Will Purvis interview where he asks a Kamala supporter why she’s voting for Kamala. “‘Cause Trump sucks,” the woman says, laughing nervously, before adding, “‘Cause she’s trying to make the world a lot cheaper to live in. The amount of money that it costs to just do anything keeps increasing so much.” Purvis points out that the woman seems to have forgotten that Kamala is in office right now as vice president. “So do you think that’s Biden and Kamala’s fault?” Purvis asks. “I think that’s always been happening. How much things have cost has always been, like, increasing,” she retorts. “So you think Kamala’s going to fix it even though she’s already been VP for four years?” he asks, to which she immediately replies, “What did Trump do?” “I think he fixed it,” Purvis answers. “I think the economy was way better. Houses were cheaper, rent was cheaper, grocery prices were cheaper.” Then, when he asks what Kamala’s greatest accomplishment as a vice president has been, the woman replies, “I literally don’t know,” before explaining that the reason she’s better than Trump is because she knows “a lot of things that he’s done.” Her list includes that he’s “racist” and “sexist.” “So you just have an opinion but you don’t really know why?” Purvis asks. “Yeah,” the woman responds. Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” is undoubtedly entertained. “That is so representative of what’s going on here. ‘Are things bad?’ ‘They’re kind of bad.’ ‘Will Harris fix them?’ ‘Yes she will.’ ‘Well, why didn’t she fix them?’ ‘I don’t know,’” Rubin comments. Trump challenges Harris to cognitive test, citing her repeated gaffes: 'Could be something very wrong with her'

Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump called for opponent and current Vice President Kamala Harris to take a cognitive test, citing her repeated gaffes. On Monday morning, Trump issued a statement on social media explaining that the corporate media covered up one of Harris' word salads, referring to the "60 Minutes" interview with the Democratic nominee that aired last week. 'She is slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions.'CBS News was accused of deceptively editing the interview, removing one of Harris' fumbled answers and replacing it with a comment she made at a different point during the exchange. Trump demanded that the news network release the original transcript and called on the Federal Communications Commission to revoke its broadcasting license. The Democratic-controlled government agency rejected Trump's request, accusing him of threatening free speech.Harris' latest gaffe prompted Trump to question her mental ability."I believe it is very important that Kamala Harris pass a test on Cognitive Stamina and Agility. Her actions have led many to believe that there could be something very wrong with her," Trump wrote on Monday."Even 60 Minutes and CBS, in order to protect Lyin' Kamala, illegally and unscrupulously replaced an answer she had given, which was totally 'bonkers,' with another answer that had nothing to do with the question asked," he continued. "Also, she is slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions." "We just went through almost four years of that, we shouldn't have to do it again!" Trump stated, referring to President Joe Biden, who was pushed out of the Democratic candidacy. The decision to replace Biden followed his poor debate performance against Trump in June, which prompted even his supporters and media allies to lose all confidence in his cognitive abilities. On Saturday, Harris released a medical report from her White House physician, Joshua Simmons, that declared her to be in "excellent health.""She possesses the physical and mental resiliency required to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief," Simmons wrote in his report.Over the weekend, Steven Cheung, Trump's campaign spokesperson, stated, "All have concluded he [Trump] is in perfect and excellent health to be Commander in Chief."Harris' campaign did not respond to a request for comment from The Hill.Like Blaze News?
